The first records of the glacier caves are only a few hundred years old and have been well known after the Xfaxa Kin'toni Clan moved into them, after being driven away from the region of the Enori Tundra. There are several instances of people disappearing in these caves. They have most likely died of either hunger or hypothermia; given that there is little food in the caves and the temperature is really cold. According to these records, which were recorded a few hundred years ago, several clans have previously claimed the Blaxril Glacier Caves as their home, and one of these clans were forced to live here.
After being forced out of their past residence, which is now the home of the Aw'drai Kin'toni Clan. Also, as a result of the Xfaxa clan having called these caves home for just a few hundred years they have surprisingly learned how to adapt to the freezing temperatures and often drink the water in the rivers when it is warm and the snow when it is cold, a tradition that has been passed down from past clans that have lived here before. Because of this, it is generally assumed that the Xfaxa clan generally look for zu'aan to turn here and find it surprisingly hard as very few zu'aan have retreated here over time.
According to these recent records, it is generally believed by the Xfaxa clan that the now gone clan called the T'Kala clan were the last clan to live in the Glacier Caves; they called this place home for more than 75 years. They moved into the Caves in 3E 95, just before the Shattering. After the war was over and the T'Kala clan stood victorious over a rival clan that they had forced to retreat, this clan eventually decided to move to aanother region. As a direct result, the Xfaxa clan, who were living in the Icy Hills at the time, suddenly found themselves in a battle over their land.
Which led to a brief but violent altercation between the Xfaxa and T'Kala clan, with the T'Kala clan managing to force the Xfaxa clan out of their home to seek residence elsewhere. The T'kala clan, who had been taking up residence at the Icy Hills at the time, were confronted by the Noestryn Kin'toni Clan and a battle took place on the Noestryn clan's home turf. As they had caught the T'kala clan rummaging through the Noestryn clan's property and trespassing. The battle, which lasted for several years, ultimately led to the T'kala clan going extinct. In this struggle, the T'kala clan seemed to gain an upper hand.
At first in the early stages of this battle, but midway through the battle, the Noestryn clan managed to get some assistance from an ally of the Noestryn clan, who quickly provided their assistance with some much-needed artillery, which was all that the Noestryn clan needed to wipe their opposition out. This ally, known as the Galroda Kin'toni Clan, was not always the Noestryn clan's ally, but their assistance to the Noestryn clan in the Baphi'wypyn (loosely translated as the Battle of Blood and Fire On Ice) was what made the Noestryn clan so grateful to their former rivals.
So as a result a new alliance was made between the Noestryn and Galroda clans, with agreements to see each other every decade being made.
Geography
The glacier caves are located deep inside the great Ga'yoth glacier, which is situated right next to the Iceplains. There is an entrance or two outside the glacier, which lead to the caves. It is said that once one goes south enough they will reach the X'ara Isle, which is easternmost to the Glacier Caves; however, if you go north enough you will find yet another island, the Vanya Isle, which is located north of the Glacier Caves. The Blaxril Glacier Caves also have a hidden way underground, where the entrance leads straight into the Tetryl Tundra to the south.
Some suggest that the exit of that hidden border will lead straight into the northernmost part of the Glacier Caves. Each of the four borders of the Glacier Caves all leads to different territories, except for the underground border, which leads straight into a bedrock and lava land. Because of that, the Blaxril Glacier Caves are generally regarded as the centre of many secret and hidden entrances, and for that reason alone it is generally regarded as a fact for many that venture here. For instance, one of the caves, known as the Temple of the Lost, contains surprising cave drawings.
From the two previous clans that inhabited this region; these cave drawings, which explained the theory of their society being an illusion, this has served as the foundation for the Xfaxa clan's theories, each of which give an idea of what their religious beliefs are as they pertain to their spirituality. Another cave, known as the Tzadnu'um, or Wisdom Forum, serves as this clan's man cave for worship and religious activity. The Tzadnu'um is also a place for worship and praise of their predecessors, and it is also a place where, every two months, they sacrifice an entire night to engage in riotous partying.
And occasional cave drawing. There is one other place of importance in the Glacier Caves where they gather to offer their insight without judgement; however, because of the fact that some of the kin'toni in this clan are easily offended, they will sometimes choose not to participate and go about their night as if they were hunting prey. Given this particular place is often referred to by the Xfaxa clan as the Ryqu'na-welazirya, or the Self-Righteousness Cave, most of the kin'toni that participate in expressing their freedom of speech will often brag about their lifestyles.
Some of the kin'toni in this clan will sometimes boast about how safe they are in the Glacier Caves in addition to their lifestyle, but others will sometimes tend to disagree at times because of a lack of proof. Because of this, the Xfaxa clan generally regard themselves as self-righteous and are not ashamed to admit it; however, since the Glacier Caves seem to be one of the safest regions in Terael one might go as far as to say that they have it made here. And they also have a lot of responsibility as they take care of a few different kinds of animals.
Plants
Because the temperatures in and around the Glacier Caves are so cold year-round and seasonally, there are literally no living plants inside the caves; however, because of the fact that the mid-seasons of the calendar year have proven to be the warmest, it is generally assumed that there are more than three important kinds of plants outside the caves. However, because of the fact that the temperature inside the caves is often very cold year-round, the plants inside the caves are essentially frozen. As a result, kin'toni will generally conclude that the plants outside the caves are watered.
By the snow and freezing rain that falls from the sky once every few days. Three of these plants, all of which are unique in root structure and botany appearance, can most likely be considered as nature-independent given the frequent weather that comes into this and similar regions. The first of these three or more plants, known to the Xfaxa clan as the hzynd'uk, or Ice Willow, mainly depends on the precipitation of freezing rain, sleet and small sizes of hail pellets to survive. It is also one that has been known to survive simply on water-related precipitation considering that the ice can melt into water.
The life expectancy of this plant is not entirely known to most kin'toni clans, but the Xfaxa clan's recently-transcribed records insist that the plant can survive for up to fifty years on water-related precipitation alone. If the precipitation comes once every couple of days. In other related data, if hail impacts this kind of plant and the hail pellets are more than a couple of inches in diameter the plant will essentially be crushed for a while before the hail pellets melt and turn to water to nourish the soil. One planet able to survive on the harshest of the weather of Mother Nature is the Gvu'ra-d'yn.
This plant has been known to mostly affect zu'aan, but according to Xfaxa records. This plant has also affected some of the kin'toni'ati clans as well considering its post-touch side effects. The gvu'ra-d'yn also has a set of fangs that have been known to bite any zu'aan or kin'toni that comes close to it and is fairly larger than the average plant. Other plants that are sustained by nature outside of the Glacier Caves include the oun'yb, or Blood leaf Plant, which is said to have one of the longest average lifespans of any plant, generally lasting up to a century and-a-half.
As a result of the inside plants not being able to survive as a result of them being frozen stiff, the outside plants, which are generally able to take in air, can survive for long periods of time as long as the precipation falls from the sky to the soil. Therefore, according to most Xfaxa kin'toni'ati records, only the outside plants can withstand the cold, whereas the inside plants, which have been frozen due to extremely cold weather, are essentially dead.
Animals
There are a few species of adapted animals in the caves. There is a species of mammals living in there, one that the Xfaxa kin'toni call k'lol-anhi or "furry gremlins". They look like small, crawling balls of fur. They are notorious among the Xfaxa for often eating their food when other sources of food are unavailable. There are also several species of huge, thick-skinned worms, called jul'iki by the Xfaxa kin'toni, whom the k'lol-anhi usually eat. The jul'iki, which are often born fully grown, can sometimes weigh close to three pounds, which makes it vitally important for the Xfaxa kin'toni.
To take in some of its blood before the k'lol-anhi get to it first. There are more than several different kinds of jul'iki. Which are often measured with a weight that is somewhere in the ballpark of between 3 and 6 pounds; one of these breeds of jul'iki, the qazwsya jul'iki, has over a dozen layers of skin, with the last two layers being thick in appearance and covering the other ten layers. The qazwsya jul'iki can generally weigh about pounds on average, with a typical female weighing about four pounds and the male weighing roughly six. As a result, they are often around one foot to three feet long.
And do not have any limbs aside from their torso, which makes up virtually their entire body and head. However, it is their facial area that determines which breed is breed. For example, the qazwsya's face has several in-grown earlobes which allow them to hear from a large distance, as well as a set of eyes that allow them to see through double vision. Another breed of jul'iki worm, although slightly smaller than its qazwsya counterpart, has a completely different head, having no earlobes whatsoever an unusually largemouth and a small eye at the centre of its forehead.
This breed of jul'iki worm, commonly referred to by the Xfaxa kin'toni in their records as the goryzxa'ny, or big Mouth jul'iki, has a strange appearance. In other words, it is generally agreed upon by the Xfaxa kin'toni'ati community that this breed of jul'iki worms is often considered to be the weaker breed. With a female weighing in at roughly three pounds and the male coming in at four and a half pounds. So in other words, the Gryzxa'ny jul'iki are considered to be the smallest of the three breeds of jul'iki. There is a third and final breed that is assumed to be the second-largest of the jul'iki.
Having an average weight of five pounds and a strange appearance about them. This breed, known by the Xfaxa clan in their records as the pza'yu jul'iki, has an ingrown tail in its spines that goes straight down to the bottom of its body; in addition, the pza'yu jul'iki also has a curved face with a large eye, small earlobes, and a smaller than usual mouth. Generally speaking, this breed of jul'iki also has a set of psychological problems ranging from an imbalance in their brains, as well as a muscular body structure.
