Nyses Coral Reef
The Nyses coral reef is a collection of reef islands formed in the tropical region of the ocean that surrounds the Taerel Land masses. They are a vast collection of small islands that are rife with the pirate ships of the small yet formidable Kin’toni nation called Tharis, founded after the shattering form the outlaws and rebellious naval officers of the both the Ashat and Itkali nations. Most of the thais citizens belong to the either of those two nations and follow as much of the culture of their respective nationalities.
For instance most Itkali sailors still follow the ways of the shepherd but do not vow their loyalty to the royal clan of the Itkali empire, instead to a man the Tharians are loyal to the Ildril Kin'toni Clan. The Idrill clan leads the people of the Tharis nation, and are said to be the finest sailors of all the Kin’toni water clans. The unique design of the Kin’toni vessels made in the Tharis nation are part of the legend of the Tharis sailors, unlike the blocky and large schematics of the Zu’Aan vessels that roamed the oceans in the time of the Xerea Empire, the Tharis nations ships are sleek and low ships that covered.
Viewed from afar the Kin’toni ships are seen to shaped like arrows, and built for speed. They are powered by a mammalian species endemic to the coral reef islands, while the people of Tharis call them the pond mustangs in common parlance they are referred to as the mule fish. Each Thatrish Vessel is pulled by a team of the pond mustangs, and are guided by one of the water Kin’toni clan members who spend the majority of their lives within the water itself and only come onto the land to sleep or socialise.
The image of a tharis convoy of ship is truly a devastating sight for the trade ships and canoes that circle around the Taerel transporting goods and passengers between friendly kin'toni nations. The kin'toni from the coral reef nation of Tharis are pirates by trade primarily, and although they are known to attack the vessels belonging to kin'toni nations or carrying kin'toni, their primary targets have always been the zu'aan ships. The zu'aan ships are very prevalent in the tropical waters.
As the zu'aan settlements and cities send large convoys of ships between their centres of power in an attempt to make sure they are all able to survive the onslaught of the various kin'toni nations that are at constant war with the zu'aan city states. The tharis kin'toni have made it a point to attack and assail the zu'aan convoys that pass through the established shipping routes. Although the zu'aan have made attempts to alter courses and try to change schedules of resupply but they have failed to avoid the kin'toni pirates of the Tharis nation.
This failure of theirs is blamed on the fact that clans of the water kin'toni are able to maintain too close a watch on vast tracts of the tropical waters and given the fact that they are able to travel thorough the waters even during the day, if they maintain right depth, the oceans are practically never unobserved by the Tharis people.

Geography
The coral reef islands as indicated by the name of the regions are islands formed of the microscopic creatures called polyps, these are tiny creatures that have a symbiotic relationship with a uniquely coloured algae called zooxanthellae, these algae live within the cell structure of the coral polyps and carry out photosynthesis which serves as the primary food source of the coral polyps. The coral reefs are built of the skeletons of the coral polyps, as the coral reef grows more polyps reproduce and as some of the polyps die of natural old age.
Their skeletons form the stratum upon which the next generation of the polyps builds their colonies. The coral reefs are therefore very much alive and capable of growth, the unique colouring of the reefs is due to the presence of the Zooxanthellae which have various strains of chlorophyll within them and that they use to trap sunlight. The coral reefs in the region are thousands of years old and ever growing, the Tharis nation depends on the coral reefs not only for land upon which they leave but also as a form of defence.
For the Tharis have studied the coral reefs for hundreds of years now and they have a good understanding of what are the right conditions for their growth, therefore as part of ongoing project, the pirate kin'toni nation has formed an underwater fortification of the coral reefs as they have caused the reefs to grow in certain patterns that prevents any ship from entering their region of the ocean without having prior knowledge of where the reefs are located.
If a ship were to stray into Tharis waters, they would soon find the hull of their ship colliding with the complex maze of reefs that the Tharis kin'toni have so deliberately built and nurtured. There is a growing worry for the health of the coral reefs recently among the Tharis sailors as certain regions of the coral reef seem to have lost their colour and stopped growing all of a sudden. Some of the sailors claim this due to the expansion of the ice glaciers as the ice age settles its icy grip on the Taerel oceans.
For it is known that the coral reefs are able to grow only in a very particular range of temperature. As the temperatures of the surrounding nations fall, more and more of the coral reefs begin to loose their resident algae, which leads to a dulling of colour or lightening of it, a reef that has undergone this process is not able to grow any longer and turns a stark white upon death and so the process has been named by the Tharish kin'toni coral bleaching.
The coral health is important not only for the defence of the coral reef islands but also due to the fact that the survival of most of the fish upon which the blood stock of the Tharish is strongly dependent. The coral reefs are homes to the numerous marine animals that are found in the region along with the farms of the seaweed that are an essential part of the ecosystem that the kin'toni have created in the coral reef islands.
Plants
The plants on the coral reef islands are not naturally found on the coral reef islands, given the fact that the islands are mostly formed of the skleletons of the coral polyps, there is almost no soil for the plants to grow in the region. Although there are two species plants that have managed to grow in the trying conditions that are prevalent of the coral reef islands, the first being the perennial present hairy palm trees, which are found across the the whole of the Taerel coastal areas.
The hairy palm is adapted very well to survival on the coarse sands of the Taerel coast, for it requires little nutrition and has a tolerance for saline water that is shared perhaps only by the mangrove forests of the bliss beaches. The hairy palm has a fruit that has one of the tickets and hairiest outer cover, given the thickness of the cover and the fact it is able to float on the ocean, the fruits of the hairy palm have spread their performance in even the most trying of the coastal areas found on the Taerel.
The cover of the fruit is also very nutritious, and upon being washed onto share, the cover slowly decomposes in the sun and forms the food the seeds within the fruit require to germinate and form into a sapling. The second plant that is of particular note that is prevalent in the coral reefs is one that has been introduced by the water kin'toni that spend as much of their life below the surface of the oceans as they do on the land. These kin'toni clans have found and planted iron seaweeds in the seas surrounding the coral reef islands.
The kin'toni nation of Tharis due to its isolation from the rest of the Kin’toni has had to be innovative and find alternatives of farming blood stock for the consumption of its citizens, and the answer has come to them by way of the ocean. For in the ocean the coral reef nation has managed to find and cultivate the extremely large crocodile turtles. The crocodile turtles are raised on a staple diet of fish that is caught in the coral reefs and the iron sea weed that is carefully cultivated by the water clan kin'toni on the ocean bed in vast fields of orange sea weed.
The sea weed is particularly nutritious and its effect on the size of the crocodile turtles has been profound, for the iron seaweed is so named not only for its deep orange colour that is reminiscent of the colour of rust but also for organic iron that is part of its composition. The organic iron of the sea weed is a survival mechanism for the sea weed itself, the fish of the deeps do not have the capacity to metabolise iron, and so the consumption of the iron sea weed inevitably leads to the death of the fish.
The introduction of the iron sea weeds to the realm of the coral islands was a happy accident that secured the future of the Tharis nation.
Animals
The life present around the coral reef islands is teeming, and there are several marine animals that are essential to the way of life of the kin'toni of this coral reef islands nation. Among the most important of these animals is that which is relied on for the use of as blood stock, that role belongs to the uaytel-areoa. These uaytel-areoa were found in the willd as hairy palm sized scaly reptiles that although ferocious looking, were remarkably underwhelming.
The domestication of the uaytel-areoa over the past centuries has significantly altered the creatures, and at present the animals are a far cry from the ancestors that they have sprung. These reptilian uaytel-areoa now are vast in size but remain to be just as extremely slow in their movements as their ancestors who were first brought to the islands. Although they are built to be hunters by nature, their temperament is that of a herbivore. They were only able to survive in the oceans by eating on the smallest of fishes in the ecosystem that were slow enough to be caught by these inefficient hunters.
But upon being fed a stable diet of fish and iron sea weed, the metabolism of the uaytel-areoa has skyrocketed, and they are now nearly twenty times the size of the first generation of uaytel-areoa. The present generation is as large as the largest of the lifeforms that are cultivated in the Turenth lush river, and produces nearly twice the amount of the blood they do. Although the farming of the uaytel-areoa is limited by the fact that after hitting a certain weight and size they are no longer able to swim and must be brought ashore to continue to survive, and their is little available land in the Tharis nation.
The other animal that is of note, are the garel-are that were mentioned earlier, and which form the heart of the pirate navy of the kin'toni nation, for without the presence and domestication of the garel-are the navies of the Tharis would have remained to be limited as the navies of other kin'toni nations. The other kin'toni navies use the old schematics of the Xerea Empire which were vast and bulky and ever so slow, added to that the fact that most ships were uncovered, the kin'toni were unable to use them without creating massive sunsheds.
That affected the weight and speed of the ships yet more. But the Tharis nation has been able to rig new ships that are low, aerodynamic and powered with by the garel-are whose endurance seems to know no limits. The ships are completed covered and have a small sections that are open to the ocean below so as to allow the water kin'toni to freely move in and out of the ships without ever having to face the arrow storm of an enemy ship or the harmful effects of the sun.
The garel-are are led by the water kin'toni that initially raised them from birth, they are an extremely social animal that function best in small teams, they feel a kinship with the water kin'toni who are known to raise their own personal teams of the animals for reasons other than war. The waters of the coral reef islands are full of the garel-are and they fill the tiny nation with the shrill calls of their kind.
