Kalvor Kin'toni Clan
History
Biology
Fibodian kin’tonis are not much different with when they were zu'aan at least for those who actually lived inside the Fibod forest. The forest especially on the foot of Fibod Mountain were lush, thick and very little if not, no sunlight ever reaches the forest floor. Therefore, Fibodian kin’tonis did not have any much difference at all. However, they had adapted a dark, black hue on their normally golden iris. Fibodian scholars considered this as an adaptation to see much better in the dark as it was also observed that Fibodian Kin’toni had exceptionally good night-vision after being inflicted with the disease.
It was very effective as, as foragers and hunters; Fibodians need to see better in the dark. Fibodians were also historically agile zu'aan. They’re good in climbing trees and excellent in hiding away from enemies. Though after being inflicted with the Kin’toni disease, their agility has all but risen. Their stamina were also spiked especially when their focus is high. This is especially helpful when they’re out hunting or when they need to travel from a border outpost to another border outpost.
They’re also extremely light on their fit giving them the ability to sneak on animals quietly. The Fibodians have also their basic sense including hearing, smelling and sensory touch heightened due to their disease. It’s fair to say that whatever skills and attributes the Fibodian had while being zu'aan were spiked by the disease. However, the disease had also cause Fibodian’s weakness to be weaker as well. Being pale beings, Fibodian kin’tonis are extremely sensitive to sunray.
More so than the average Kin’toni as theorised by Fibodian scholars. This condition is also subjected to the fact that unlike other zu'aan back then, Fibodians had a fair skin, lacking melanin that would give their skin a darker tone. It is unfortunate that being infected with the Kin’toni disease, the Fibodians has grown allergic to the gaze of Kondiu. This is because the gaze of the Kondiu birds are luminescent and emulate the same rays as the sun. Without being able to control the Kondiu properly, the Kondius, including those under the military use are sent back to live on the top of the Fibod mountain.
On a side note, Fibodians are considered to be one of the most gifted being across Taerel. Fibodians are well known for their singing ability and are able to reach high and low notes really well. Even as zu'aan, they retained this ability quite well, though it did not particularly contribute to any detriment nor improvement of their voice. However, a number of Fibodians (kin’tonis) have claimed that they could hold notes longer as they feel as though they could hold their breath longer after being inflicted of the disease.
On a general look of Fibodian Kin’toni, they have exceptionally soft blonde hair, eyes with a golden with slightly black iris, pale skin, and a tall stature. When compared side to side, they aren’t much different a look between a Fibodian Kin’toni and a Fibodian zu'aan save for their eyes. Unlike most kin’tonis, Fibodian kin’tonis had retained much of their zu'aan look and had experience biological change more so internally.
Culture
A large number of Fibodians are foragers. Living on and under the thick forest of the foot of Fibod Mountain, foraging is considered one of the main sources of income for many Fibodians. Fortunately for the Fibodian kin’tonis, a number of fruits found in the forest are packed with irons. These includes Lhampun and Tima’dang fruits that are beneficial and act as supplementary to the diets of Fibodians as kin’tonis. The forest provides more than food to the Fibodians and that includes providing them with medicament and on the contrast poison withal.
As is, the Fibodians use a number of herbs in the forest as ailemnt for a number of disease including disease as light as seasonal fever and as heavy as battle wound, blood clog and even to treat pregnancy wound – not that it ever served any purpose for the Fibodians now that they’re turned to kin’tonis. A number of studies has been conducted by alchemist, monks and the guardians to find a cure for the Kin’toni disease. So far, up to date, no one had successfully found a cure for such a disease, however. Notwithstanding, studies after studies are being carried out to find a probable cure for it.
Though little in propotion, a number of Fibodians are also farmers. Fruits include Lhampun, Bunduh and other edible fruits are planted around the forest where there are any clearing. However ridiculous as it sounds, due to their condition, most if not all Fibodian farmers tend to work at night. This is especially hard to get by when the Fibodians were in their first few days of being Kin’toni as farmers tend to work on day time. Nowadays, along with other traditionally nocturnal jobs, the farmers has also adapted to work at night though never unarmed as Fibod is also home to a number of dangerous beast.
A large number of beast in Fibod are even considered to be among the most dangerous and unfortunately also, the most endangered in the entirety of the land of Taerel. This is also the reason why a large share of Fibodians are excellent Beast tamers and caretakers paying especially extra attention to the Poil’kan bird as it is the main source of food for the Fibodian as well as Lorchean kin’tonis. However, Fibodians are also staunch meat eaters consuming man’huk almost everyday along with other source of meat that are mass-breaded in Fibod.
Many kin’tonis are proud caretakers of Fibodian beast, striving to be a Beastmaster among themselves. Prior to the conversion, a number of royals, especially so the king of Fibod is able to tame and control the Kondiu bird. However, being susceptible to the rays of the Kondiu, they have since avoid the common use of Kondiu as ceremonial, military and zu’aanitarian Aid totally. Beasts are also used as transportation in the land of Fibod en masse as well to protect oneself from other beasts.
Tasu for one, is so synonymous to a Fibodian’s life that is has since been domesticated by the large majority of Fibodian. However, under a special decree, normal citizens are barred from riding on Tam’bang and Bakas as these beast are restricted for royal and military use only. Laymen are however open into riding Kud-ha and Sa’pi for everyday use. Cotton, a type of soft and fluffy biproduct of a plant grown across Fibod is also incorporated into Fibodian lifestyle. Fibodians are excellent textile makers and many family even contest amongst themselves into creating the best clothing line across Fibod.
It’s also common for Fibodian to have job specification as well in their profession. In textile busines for instance, matristic-oriented family for instance are very detailed in their work and usually serves as a part of the large body of the royal seamstress. Patristic-oriented family on the other hand tend to be more rugged in their work and usually play a role in thread making including cotton thread and silk thread – a rich, smooth thread farmed from Bhutod – a type of worm that secretes a stringy piece of string.
Apart from that, wool from aj’nus are also usually processed by mostly the patristic-oriented family. Usually, commoners are seen to be wearing clothing made from cotton and wool but almost never silk. The royalty are usually the one who wears silk whereby it’s reseved for aristrorats, generals, and part of the royal family. The King is revered a special coloured silk – Dark and Golden silk. Cork oaks grown in abundance around Fibod are also harvested for making sandals, armour, decorations and so on.
Fibod mountainous area also blesses Fibodians with an abudnace of minerals. However small the number may be, a portion of Fibodians mine precious stones including gold, iron, silver as well as granite, marble and even more recently, black powder. These minerals are then either processed, carved, sold or crafted by carpenters, craftsmen, blacksmiths, stonemason alike. Some are even taken by alchemist and monks in Lorche for research purposes. There are a tonne of artisans in Fibod.
Among the skilled artisan include carpenters and master craftsmen as well as stonemasons. These trios of occupation are seen almost always together to either strengthen, improve or modify the borders of Fibod or when they are needed to build underground burrow enabling access of Fibodians and Lorchean alike to travel to and fro Fibod and the Flower Plains of Lorche. Other body of artisan and hard labour workers include channel builders, boat carpenters, and engineers in charge of other building-related profession within Fibod including the buildings of aqueducts.
A specified body of artisans are also in charge of the beautification of the kingdom of Fibod. Fibodians are also active singers, and are excellent in using musical instruments including Ta’gung and Kuntangan. Their national dance including Sumzau and Mag’natip are also commonly seen performed in the castle and during festivities. In short, Fibodians are active beings and try their best to get through their hardship being kin’tonis. It was also a unanimous decision by the people of Fibod, Lorche and even the Darotians Ea’wa to make the best out of their situation as it is the only way to ensure their survivability.
Government
Fibod Tropical Mountain region, Lorche Tropical Flower Plains and Darot Monsoon Jungle are ruled under the same Theocratic Monarchy of Fibod. However, they are certain restrictions the royal family have when ruling Darot as they have been past agreements to give leeway for Darotians Ea’wa Kalvors to gain a partial sovereignty over their land. This is partly to ensure the safety of Darot of outside influence, but also to avoid a civil war within the borders of the kingdom of Fibod.
The Royal Family does not hold absolute power per se when ruling however as the Fibodian kingdom consist of three clans that form the kingdom in a rather complicated way. To tackle this issue, a council of Kalvorian elders consisting of Fibodian and Darotians Aristocrats as well as Lorchean Monks. These elders as well as the Guardians of Nuh, Nuk and Tu’Nga plays a big role in assisting the monarchy to rule Fibod and especially so in terms of military power. However, the monarchy still plays a huge influenced over the government, being able to veto decisions deemed unfit for the kingdom.
Fibodian alchemist play a big role in health and medicinal research all the while being assited by the Lorchean monks in Lorche. Unlike other positions, Fibodian monks are almost always in Lorche assiting the monks while doing their studies. Alchemist play considerably influential role in giving the say on what and what is not to be exploited of the forest (including in Darot) as they are expert in the study of medicine, poison, earth and such, that relates to the natural surroundings of the Fibodian Kingdom.
High priests, are monks who are elevated or chosen by the Guardians to serve for the spiritual benefit of the Fibodians as well as the beast within the Kingdom. High priest are rarely seen as they live along the border separating Iriorn Crystal Forest region and Fibod Tropical Mountain. They also reside in the borders bordering Darot and Fibod. However, they are also several monks who live with them in their residence. Masters of the Bestiary is in charge of the beast in the Kingdom and is in charge of the transportation of his Majesty the King as well as the royal family.
They are also directly in charge under generals in military dispensation. Master of Bestiary however are usually commoners and don’t necessarily hold royal or official title. The role of Master of Bestiary rotates every few years. Kul’tur Taa’ and Kultur Dangoh are bodies or commission decreed under his royal Majesty or the Monarchy as master architectures or artisans as well as historians for the kingdom of Fibod. They are other minor and major roles in Fibod that have their own specifications including boatmasters.
Those are in charge of transporting any royal subjects and their entourage, though most commonly the alchemist that go to and fro around Fibod to do their research. A less common Aquamaster, is in charge of the canals around Fibod especially those that connects Fibod’s capital to the Lorchean Monastery and the Soverign Capital of Darot.
Military
The Royal Military Brigade of Fibod and the Sovereign Darot is one of the most powerful military powers to date. The military is split into a number of layers. One of the first layer of military is the Outer Brigade Military who are in charge of protecting the border of Fibod. Archers, Suusugi, Trappers, Foot Soldiers, and Bombers are always equipped and ready to defend the border of Fibod. Wandering alchemist are always carrying potions and potent powder around when they are on their research or study and sometimes will offer to help in defence of the border wall should they be around.
A distinguished case being at the incident of the first Kin’toni to step into the border of Fibod killing King Imrod XVII and changing the course of history for the Fibodians. In regard to this fateful incident, the Fibodian military has also adopted a physical stone border that separates the kingdom from the outside wall. However, the geographical nature of Fibod having a number of mountain-side cliffs helps with reducing the cost of building walls and more so fortifying the border even more so.
Beast riders or “Sa-kai Tazam” patrol the borders every so often. They’re often times accompanied by another Sa-kai Tazam or a partner in case the other is inflicted. However, all of the beast that are reserved for military purposes are taught to carry their masters or riders to safety should the riders are hurt. Some Sa-kai Tazams are also used to carry messages across the border wall while also be used to replenish ammunitions from sentry post to another. Other Sa-kai Tazam are equipped with poisonous powders and potions, bombs and all sorts of range weapon as well.
Generally there are two main beast that are used in the military as transportation; the Tamba’ang and the Bakas. Tamba’ang are lighter and more agile though less tanky whereas Bakas is more tanky though less agile. Historically, Kondiu was also part of the military up until the conversion of the Fibodians. There are also beast who are reserved for combat alone including the Bouvang and Bu’u. The Guardians have their own special beast that they could control though, like Fibodians; these beasts have minds of their own and are generally treated as sacred creature and not to be misused.
Ga’Nuh, Kondiu; Ga’Nuk, Tuh’a-nut; and Ga’Tu’nga, Tompu-Hingot. Inner Fibod have similar military powers although much complex. Archers, Trappers and all the other military bodies are sprawled around the inner Fibodian centre. The Fibodian capital has a number of traps, passageways and even water channels that leads to underground burrow that feeds out into the forest and to Darot and elsewhere. These water channels with which has its water fed out from Nuh and even underground are among the most guarded secrets of Fibodians.
And to some extent; some passageways are only known by the King himself where a King will only tell their successors vis-á-vis. Though after the death of King Imrod XVII, the full extent of the passage is unknown. The water canals that run though Fibodian Kingdom are also closely guarded by archers, foot soldiers and other light brigade. Other less known military power of the Fibodian Kingdom includes the gaaja, an animals rarely seen in the massive forest of Fibod. Gaaja are never used in war though believed to be able to wipe an army single-handedly, so as rumour speaks.
The full extent of the kingdom is yet to be known however. In fact, an insignia planted on the cornerstone of the Fibodian castle describe how the full extent of the army are not the zu'aan but those who were ‘here’ long before. To date, no one really knows what it means.
Religion
Fibodian are monotheistic animist. They believe in in the deity of Nuh, though respect their King as the representative of Nuh as divinely chosen to lead the people of Fibod and its sovereigns under a theocratic monarchical banner . They do not worship the King as a deity but respect for the King has to be equal to those of Nuh. Shrines across Fibod is ample although, some shrines can also be found deep within the Fibodian Forest and the Darotians Jungle. It was said that high priests from millennia ago had built a shrine to where they reside and these high priests tends to travel a lot.
However, larger permanent shrines and temple can be seen in the capital of Fibod and Soverign Darot and also in the residency of high priest along the border separating the Fibodian Kingdom and Iriorn Crystal Forest. Lorche Tropical Flower Plains though not directly fall under the constituent of Fibod is the main religious and spiritual centre for the entirety of the Kingdom. Every Thursday, Fibodians come out to pray in any nearby shrines though some would take the hour long boat ride or hours longer hike to the centre of Lorche to pray with the monks.
Another holy sight of the kingdom includes the Dum’baltur Monastery in Darot and the Krak’davao Monastery on top of Nuh whereby the latter is the holiest site of all. However, one of the other holy sight of Fibodians, Lorcheans and Darotians is located at Iriorn Crystal Forest. It was said that Iriorn was the first place where the first kings of the Fibodian Kingdom resided. However, the borders to the Iriorn Crystal Forest had been closed off entirely. At least, to the hopes of many, until a cure is to be found.
One of the main reason why Iriorn left out from being guarded like the rest of the kingdom is due to the geographical state of the crystal forest. It had not much terrain that would be benefit the building of physical borders and if a border was to be made, it had to be made entirely on its own whereby it was highly susceptible to outside attacks and not to mention costly to take care of. The holy site was also located at the northernmost tip of the Iriorn Forest where a fourth guardian was rumoured to have resided.
Nonetheless, with cost to sustain the plan on building a border surrounding Iriorn was too costly and unpragmatic, the decision was to cut of the border entirely. However, claims over Iriorn is still valid to date. The decision to close the border and bar pilgrimage to the holy site at Iriorn was not taken well by everybody. Especially so the Darotians. This is because the first Darotian king to have ruled the Fibodian Kingdom was born in Iriorn Forest and Darotians especially see the place as more sacred as opposed to how other sees it.
It was also argued that it would be an act of blasphemy towards the supposedly fourth guardian should this fourth guardian exist. However, the other guardians dismiss the idea claiming that historically there has always been three guardians, separated not by borders of any sort. Guardians are another different barrel of fish altogether. They do not represent Nuh.
A minor exeption would be the Guardia of Nuh – Ga’Nuh as this guardian is the guardian of the Nuh as a mountain or as a physical form in itself. It’s not as large as representing the deity Nuh, though still play a huge role in itself. Guardian of the forest - Ga’Nuk protects the Fibodian Kingdom’s Forest (including Soverign Darot) and tree shrines scattered around the kingdom. Guardian of the Lorchean Flower Plains – Ga’Tu’Nga is the guardian and protector of the Lorchean plains.
Miscellany
Fibodians, Lorcheans and Darotians Kalvor have never killed any zu'aan ever. This is partly because of the the restrain by King Tovud the First(then Prince Tovud). It is also due to the fact that the entirety of the kingdom were converted voluntarily to avoid repercussions by Nuh for rejecting a rightful king but also more so to avoid disrespecting the King as a Kin’toni and as Fibodians (including Darotians) are extremely loyal to their king. Fibodian Kigdom, as per the legal understanding of the kingdom is divided into four sections or provinces.
These are, Fibod Tropical Mountain Region, Lorchean Tropical Flower Plains (which is located in the middle of Fibod), Darot Jungle Monsoon and Iriorn Crystal Forest. Darotians pledge full allegiance to the Fibodian Monarchy as the monarchy consist of Darotian and Fibodian blood alike. In other words, they have been instances where the Kings and Queens of the Kingdom are either both Fibodian, Darotian or a mix of both descent. King Imrod XVII was half Darotian as the late Queen Mother of his was Darotian.
With the monarchical system in the Fibodian Kingdom being patrilineal, the ruling king is chosen based of their father’s (His King the Majesty) side. Lorche Tropical Flower Plains was annexed as a different province entirely for the purpose of religious matters. There has been no Lorchean monarchy of royal descent to date as most royal descent zu'aan who resided in Lorche back then were considered Fibodians prior to the annexation during the first age. After the annexation, most if not all of the residence of Lorche are single male monks and alchemist.
Withint the Fiboidan Kingdom, there exist three main sects of people who all fall under the umbrealla term of “Kalvor” or Kalun od Imvor – The People of the King. However, to be specific, the title of a Ril’quao is specified for any religious order that specifically live in Lorche while Ea’wa are Darotians who identify themselves after the first Darotian King Ea’wa’s the First’s name. Nevertheless, after the great conversion every residence of the kingdom considered themselves Kalvor.
Although, to be precise, Kalvorians are kin’tonis who live in Fibod by which is considered as the royal province of the kingdom and also the birthplace of King Tovud the First. In other words, by technicality, when someone address a person by the term “Kalvor” it would generally mean all those who live under the kingdom, though in more specific term; “The People of the King Who Reside Under the Majesty’s Royal Ground Fibod”. A common petty crime within the kingdom is to consider one not a Kalvor on the basis that they to not reside under the land of Fibod.
This had cause some extremely minor schuffles between drunk Fibodian Kalvors and Darotians or Ea’wais Kalvors. Ril’quaos or Lorchean Kalvor don’t usually entertain this scuffle as they are bound by collective and religious vows to see all being as equal. Although the capital of the Fibodian Kingdom falls in Fibod itself, a huge number of royalties resides in Darot as well making the capital of Darot one of the most heavily guarded place.
Darotians Ea’wa, though pledge allegiance to the king, restrict powers especially in terms of exploiting the forest of Darot and more so “avoiding to marry” female Darotian royalties so as to only have Fibod-descent Kings.
