History

The Galari are an ancient kin'toni clan that is currently the nominal provincial head of the province of the bliss beaches under the pioneer clans’ council of the Ashatan government. Generally, in the federal polity of the Ashat nation, the real power of administration lies with the provincial heads of the government while the pioneer clans’ council fills a supervisory role. This isn’t the case for the bliss beaches, as the Ashatan government has posted a representative that controls the affairs of the province in place of the Galari kin'toni clan.

There are various reasons why this arrangement has been put in place in the bliss beaches alone, but the primary one has to do with the Galari clan itself, who made a miscalculation and sought the assistance of the council in coming up with a solution to the crisis they were facing. The Council usurped the faith that the Galari had placed in the council and robbed them of their political power and gained complete control of an extremely important province of their nation.

The Galari have been struggling against the influence of the Ashtan council representative for the past few centuries and in recent times they have been able to successfully wrestle a little more power from the representative, and this has only been possible due to their new position as the heads of the merchants guild that is an extremely important institution found in only this province of the nation. The Galari have a rich history in the region and in fact have been associated with the region for far longer than the Ashatan council has been.

They actually won the regions from the zu'aan independently of the Ashatan council, as the kin'toni of the Galari are very closely related to the Mora Ava Kin'toni Clan that was at one time expelled from the Ashatan lands after being betrayed by the non warrior clans that eventually came to form the pioneer clans’ council. Some of the Galari do claim that their difficult fortune within the Ashatan nation has been difficult precisely due to the relationship they had with the Mora Ava.

The Galari were not truly warriors like the Mora Ava, but the martial clan had relied upon the use of the Galari kin'toni for the administration of their won lands, and the same was the case with the bliss beaches as well. The kin'toni of the Mora Ava kin'toni clan were responsible for cutting down the zu'aan armies that occupied the region and carried out massive amounts of kin'toni conversion, so not only was the conquest of the bliss beaches a large martial victory in terms of land acquired but also in terms of the zu'aan capital that was won over from the zu'aan.

The Galari were handed the region for administration, and they were very successful at it as well, for example the massive structures that populate the beaches which were used by the zu'aan in the transportation of good over sea were partly deconstructed by the Galari.

Psychology

If a comparison were to be made about the kind of kin'toni the Galari are and how they lead their lives, it would be apt to draw a comparison between the kin'toni of the Falang clan from the Jau Jungle Hills, and the kin'toni of the Par Anartah Kin'toni Clan of the fabled swamp cities from the Iturn Dead Swamp. This because while the kin'toni of the Galari clan possess the same flair for administration that the clerical clan of the Falang was known to possess before it became an all important pioneer clan, and they are just as skilled in the art of the trade as the kin'toni of the Par Anartah clan.

Their recent rise from the ashes has been attributed to their skill with the dealing of money, and their political prowess which was at one time thought to have completely disappeared has been re-emphasised as the kin'toni of the clan ave gained power in the region again through the non conventional means of the merchant’s guild. The Galari are thus clearly very resourceful kin'toni, who at one point were blindly trusting and believed in the best intentions of all kin'toni.

As evidenced by the fact that the Galari had themselves invited the kin'toni of the Ashatan council to help in the administration of their own region when they felt that the scale of the province had become too large for them to handle. It is difficult to say what drove the kin'toni to such an ill conceived plan of action, other kin'toni have remarked that it should have been clear to the Galari that the council at the jungle hills was uninterested in the best for the former administrators of their enemy the Mora Ava, who they had only recently had removed from the Ashatan lands.

On the other hand, it must be realised that the growth of society that was occurring in the bliss beaches was truly jaw dropping, the province had always been pretty populated due to large number of conversions that had occurred in the initial take over of the land but once the provinces had been declared an area of recovery for the kin'toni that were beginning to show severe strain from constant battle, there was a huge influx of tourists. In addition to the ridiculous number of injured soldiers and tourists that visited the region in order to enjoy the divine view of the beaches.

The council also made the bliss beaches one of the staging areas for the assemblage of kin'toni armies. This setting up of a permanent camp of the army in the region was truly the last nail in the coffin of the organisation structure that the Galari had put in place, their infrastructure was genuinely drowning in kin'toni, and they were certain that if the situation was not brought under control quickly, the mass of people could lead to precipitation of some sort of disaster, and so they showed foresight in contacting the Ashatan council for assistance when they did.

Biology

The Galari are much the same to the Mora Ava clan, while the Mora Ava kin'toni share blood with the Llyth clan of the pioneer council, in a similar manner the kin'toni of the Galari clan are descended from the kin'toni of the Mora Ava clan. They are built large like most kin'toni, and their size and frame lends them significant power, but the kin'toni do not possess the delicate and precise power that the Mora Ava and the Llyth are said to be able to bring to bear in a challenging fight in addition to the explosive power that is witnessed in almost all sorts of fights.

The Galari are in fact disadvantaged by their blood reaction to the warrior clans, for their bodies metabolism is closely related to the requirements of kin'toni warrior, and the Galari kin'toni rarely carry out any sort of exercise let alone fighting. This means that they are constantly hungry due to an unstopping metabolic system, and they are also remarkably susceptible to obesity and the other related illnesses since they carry out little to no physical activity.

The kin'toni of the Galari clan are therefore administered only special blood stock that has been processed and diluted in order to allow them to consume great quantities of it without being under the danger of changing and growing to the size of the Oola Kin'toni Clan from Quedan Fields of the Adon Kingdom. The kin'toni of the Galari clan, are paritcularly fond of the drink that they are credited with founding, called the kin'toni’s kiss, and it is made of equal parts Par hog’s blood and equal parts coffee.

This drink is not just popular with the Galari but rather all the kin'toni that visit the bliss beaches, many establishments in the Bliss beaches prepare their own preparation with modifications to the kin'toni’s kiss, and pay a small fee to the Galari for the use of their preparation. The kin'toni of the Galari were able to secure a writ from the pioneer council that prevented any other kin'toni clan from being able to prepare and sell the concoction of the kin'toni’s kiss without string benefit with the kin'toni of the Galari clan.

It is believed that the kin'toni of the Ashton pioneer council were unaware of the magnitude of popularity the drink would come to gain, and the recent surge in the fortune of the Galari including their elevation to the ranks of the Merchant’s guild can all be traced back to the success of the kin'toni’s kiss. The odd drink is not particularly palatable, and is thus modified by the local establishments with different flavours that may make the experience of consuming the drink a little more worthwhile, however despite its found flavour there are many kin'toni that seek to drink it just as it is.

The popularity of the drink is associated more with the influence it has on the brain rather than how it tastes. The Par hog’s blood which is a known hallucinogen combines with coffee to create great pleasure. They have light blue irises with white sclera and vertical slit pupils.

Culture

The kin'toni of the Galari clan are enterprising empire that have spent a great portion of their lives understanding the intricacies of kin'toni society and the principles that guide its existence. When the Mora Ava were in power and controlling the military campaigns of the kin'toni armies, they realised the importance of having a kin'toni clan that specialised in administration and consolidation of land that had already been won, and so they created a clan from among their number that would abandon war and instead work to build a new society.

The council at the Jau Jungle Hills like to paint the kin'toni of the Mora Ava as brainless warriors that wanted to drive the whole kin'toni kind into mindless wars one after the other, but the Galri have always stood up against the reputation of the Mora Ava as mindless savages. The Galair have a deep loyalty towards the Mora Ava clan and this is inculcated even into the new recruits that are converted to the clan, one of the most impactful tales that are told about the Galari and their relationship with the Mora Ava is one that relates with the founding of the Ashtan government.

The account states that in the times of the supremacy of the warrior clans like the Mora Ava, there hadn’t yet emerged a concept of kin'toni nations like the one that exists now, and it was actually the pioneer clans’ council that made the move which eventually led to the splitting off the kin'toni strength into various factions that eventually converted into individual kin'toni nations. The kin'toni of the Ashatan pioneer council were going to form a parallel government that would begin to lead the kin'toni away from continuous warfare and instead found a soldier class that would come to bear the primary burden of fighting.

In their arrangements to have the clan council assembled and gain power, they invited popular clans from all across the continent of Erea to join them and together form a representative body that would deliberate and understand the interests of the kin'toni population before leading them down a particular direction. In their invitations they invited several clans, and not a one clan turned down the invitation, all but one, and the kin'toni clan that refused the invitation of the kin'toni was the Galari clan.

The Galari had been invited to usurp the kin'toni of the Mora Ava and form a parallel government for the whole landmass alongside the kin'toni of the Ashatan pioneer council, and so had the kin'toni of the Galari clan wished, they too would have become a part of the most important and probably the most powerful decision making body of the kin'toni world. Instead the kin'toni of the Galari clan chose honour and loyalty over greed, and the elders of the clan are clear, that if the Mora Ava had called for them to lift arms against the Ashatan council for the betrayal, they would have done so without any hesitation or questions.

Government

The kin'toni of the Galari clan share unique relationship with the central authority of the Ashatan land, as the council is well aware that not only are the Galari a competent clan of kin'toni but also know that the kin'toni are not as strongly bound to the seat of power of the Ashatan pioneer cals’ council. Initially the council tried to purchase their loyalty and favour by granting them the whole bliss beaches province as part of their administration area, one which had consisted of a smaller territory of the whole province.

The kin'toni of the council had assumed that after being granted the power of administration over one of the largest provinces in the nation, and the banishment of the Mora Ava from the lands of Ashat, the Galari would eventually see sense and they would join the council in their administration of the land in harmony with the council, and to a degree this proved to be true. The Galri were certainly glad for the opportunity to administer the hole province and they were extremely skilled at it as well, since they had been doing the same task under the ever more skilled purview of the Mora Ava.

In comparison to the exacting standards that the Mora Ava had required in their administrative practices, the needs and requirements of the Galari were tame in comparison and the Galari were able to fulfil them with little difficulty. Instead of merely stopping with the fulfilment of the objectives handed to them by the kin'toni of the central council, the Galari went a step further in oder to ensure that they were doing the tasks to the best of their ability and not just for the sake of fulfilling the orders of the Ashatan pioneer council.

To consider examples of their innovative administration and practice, one can begin with the consideration of the towers that the zu'aan had used during the time of the Xerea Empire in order to load and unload their ships. The council had required the kin'toni to break down as many of the structures as they could manage for the kin'toni wished to erase all the traces of zu'aan occupation from the region, while the Galari certainly agreed with the prospect and the intention, they changed their objective mid way of the project without informing or gaining assent from the central council.

And it is said that the kin'toni of the council had contemplated having them banished at the point as well, and they would have easily done it had the move by the kin'toni been so well received and positive for the general populace. This was because the Galari had used the uniquely strong and durable material from the towers to build platforms on the still standing platforms on the beaches, these platforms granted amazing views of the world around and in particular the ocean.

They did not stop there but went further and turned these platforms into a vertical bazar that has been an immensely profitable venture.

Military

There is some speculation that the conditions of the bliss beaches were manipulated and falsely manufactured by the council, which is known to not only be remarkably subtle but also devious with its political enemies. Mostly the success of the bliss beaches as a commercial success was due to the founding of the vertical bazars at the towers on the beach front, and the immense natural beauty of the beach country is also an important factor, but the true trouble with the administration of the region began when the kin'toni of the military were assigned to the bliss beaches for rest and recovery.

It is certainly true that the selection of the bliss beaches as a place of rest was well thought out and certainly effective, for the views of the ocean and the relax atmosphere of the vacation cities in the province were a soothing balm on the minds of kin'toni that had for nearly complete centuries faced arrow storms and the death of opponents and friends. Initially when the move to name the bliss beaches as a haven for struggling soldiers was announced, there was anger among the kin'toni of the bliss beaches and there was even talk of protests.

But the kin'toni of the Galari clan were not only supportive but they also sent forward representatives to the civil organisations in the region that they had helped found, these organisations highlighted the importance of supporting the injured martial heroes that had given their lives to war by either choice or by force. They were able to not only ensure that the kin'toni of the region understood the move but also supported it, and when the injured soldier eventually began to filter in.

The administration with the assistance of the civil society were able to create facilities that helped and made the recovery process for the kin'toni much easier. This was followed by a rapid influx of tourists as the word about the hospitality and beauty of the province spread throughout the nation, and this popularity in the nation was a actually a source of income and pride for the Galari as well as the kin'toni that called the bliss beaches their home, but this pride did not last long.

The kin'toni tourists came without end, and the government was unable to control the influx and instead started banning people entry into the province during certain periods of time. Finally the last stroke to the power of the Galari in the region came when the army camp was established at the bliss beaches, and the kin'toni of the whole nation were told to report to camps before they were sent to their posting areas. The province truly became a mess at this point, and the primary problem came with the economic situation.

As the businesses in the region were still only accepting the conch shells as a mode of payment, the rapid influx of conch shells by the tourists from other parts of the nation meant there a complete glut of currency and prices rose sky high.

Religion

The kin'toni of the Galari clan follow the example of the Mora Ava, and are devout devotees of the Eyeless god, and support the clan’s practice of harbouring several points of purity on their bodies, however unlike the kin'toni of other clans including the Mora Ava, the Galari do not generally sport the points on the backs of their hands but instead wear it squarely in the centre of their forehead. It is also not known whether the Galari completely support the theory of the Eyeless god’s prophet.

This is not only rare but rather dangerous as well, and this has to do with the danger of having a point of purity convert into a true burn, which isn’t all that common, but can occur when the sunlight is particularly strong. The ideal location for the points of purity are on the back of the hands as the kin'toni are able to easily immerse their hands into the water when the points of purity are converted into true burns, and although the scarring can be horrific from the sun burn, it can eventually recover.

On the forehead in contrast, the burn is much harder to control, and it cannot be immersed for as long in the water as is required to extinguish a flame that comes about due to the sun. Even if it can be extinguished by another means, the burn leaves scars and in extereme circumstances weaken the skull, making the kin'toni prone to irreversible damage. Th kin'toni of the Galari clan took up the practice of putting the points of purity right onto their foreheads, despite the dangers that were posed by the process.

As explained in the earlier paragraphs, and their determination to put the points on their foreheads was actually a form of political signalling. They were sending the council a message of defiance and loyalty to the way of the Mora Ava after the clan had been expelled from the Ashatan lands. The points of purity practice became prevalent after the Galari came forwards to display them prominently on their foreheads. The kin'toni of the Ashatan government only began targeting the Galari after this political display in front of the general public.

The Galari are also very generous in their donations of the temples of the Eyeless god, together with the Llyth clan, they are among the most openly devout worshippers of the eyeless god, and a such, the provinces of the steppes and the bliss beaches are counted among the top provinces with the number of temples to the eyeless god, and although the temples constructed in the lands of the Llyth are fare more grand and large, it is the temples of the bliss beaches that are said to be among the most beautiful despite their smaller sizes.

The temples built in the bliss beaches are covered with engravings from the teachings of the temples both on the inside as well as the inside, the engravings are done with a unique pigment that glows in the dark, thereby giving the temple an other worldly appearance.

Miscellany

The economy of the Bliss beaches is most likely the most thriving in the whole of Erea, and can be easily said to rival the famous markets of the nation of Zelan on the landmass of Canlai where the merchants of Zelan sell in the millions their fabled fabrics. The economy of the bliss beaches on the other hand is built on the provision of services, and the most popular type of business found in the region is that of selling food. At present there are several hundred stalls that are found on the vertical bazar of the zu'aan towers and the platforms built on them by the kin'toni.

There are also some inns and places that offer board for visiting kin'toni, although they aren’t as common as the stalls that sell food, and that is mostly because of how expensive it is to rent out the space on the platforms, the rents of the spaces means that the merchants have to learn to provide their service or product in the smallest space possible, and that has meant that the merchants have come up with various solutions to better incorporate that aspect.

The rent for the platforms is nominally meant to be awarded to the provincial clan leader, which is the founder of the Galari clan, but when the Ashatan council sent in their representative, they changed the terms and now a large chunk of the rent collected is awarded to the representative for the administration of the region, and by extension is thus given to the council at the centre. This was a significant blow to the Galari who required the capital in order to fund their political activity in order to regain control of the province and reclaim their position at the head of it’s administration.

The Galari have still been able to mobilise some resources in order to increase their control and reclaim some power and that has been a result of the use of the merchants guild, which happens to be a civil society organisation that the kin'toni of the Galari clan had themselves formed in order to form a systematic channel through which petitions from the populace could be received and engaged. Since the inception of the merchants’g guild, it was the Galari who trained them in the processes of dealing with public opinion and engaging the public on political goods.

As such in the later years, the merchant’s guild had begun to function independently and had begun to better communicate the needs and the wants of the populace in not only accurate but also helpful means which allowed the Galari to form policies that till today are praised for not only their efficacy but also in their efficacy of addressing public concern. When the kin'toni of the Galari clan were ousted from their administrative functions, they used their position as the effective founders of the guild to form a channel for their machinations.

And since the culture of the merchant’s guild had so effectively been ingrained in the common citizens’ mind, they couldn’t simply discount their opinion.
