Mora Ava Kin'toni Clan
History
The Mora Ava are an old clan of warriors that were once considered to be the most fearsome warriors in the world, originally they belonged to the Erea landmass, but have now been exiled from the landmass for several centuries. The history of the Mora Ava is truly worth studying for at one point everyone had assumed that the Mora Ava would be the next dynastic rulers of the whole content of Erea. Their prowess in battle was fierce and their enemies quivered in their boots upon the mention of their names, they numbered in the thousands.
It is not an exaggeration to claim that the kin'toni of the Mora Ava clan are probably responsible for winning nearly all of the land of Erea from the zu'aan that the kin'toni cities occupy. They forged the alliances of war that lead to the first defeat of the zu'aan armies of the Xerea Empire, and brought the top generals of the zu'aan emperor to their knees. Upon the conclusion of the last great battle of the forging of the Erea landmass, it was the Mora Ava that first reached and breached the command area of the zu'aan armies.
And in a grizzly public affair, the heads of the Mora Ava refused the generals of the Xerea Empire the gift of nature, and instead ripped them from limb to limb, claiming that the blood of the generals was far too corrupt and not fit for the consumption of kin'toni. After claiming the main armies of the zu'aan empire, the Mora Ava had begun to prepare for an intercontinental warfare and were preparing for launching attacks to neighbouring landmasses in order to dislodge the few pockets of zu'aan resistance that had continued even after the main host of the Xerea Empire had been destroyed and converted to kin'toni.
That is perhaps where the Mora Ava failed to recognise the feeling of the kin'toni that they were leading, the kin'toni although still very eager for warfare were craving aspects of their old zu'aan lives, and the Mora Ava being fierce warriors were poor civil leaders. Not only did the Mora Ava fail to provide the things that the kin'toni had desired from their leaders but instead they openly disparaged the leaders of the civil society that had approached the Mora Ava and requested a temporary halt to the advance of the kin'toni armies.
These civil leaders incidentally were the early representatives of the Pioneer clans’ council and included the kin'toni from clans such as the Falang and the Llyth clan. The dismissal of their leaders became a sticking point for the kin'toni that made up the common citizenry, and they begin to resist the rule of the Mora Ava, which in all frankness had been a tenuous thing that had never been publicly claimed or solemnised in any formal way. In view of the informal nature of the dominance of the Mora Ava.
The pioneer clans’ council formed a parallel government and began the administration of the Ashat nation, later onwards the council would split as the Valsok would claim their own dominance.
Psychology
The Mora Ava are undoubtedly skilled warriors that have chosen to perfect the conduction of war, and have chased the prospects of war throughout the whole world of Taerel, in particular though, they seem to strive for a war against zu'aan, and don’t seem to relish the wars of kin'toni kinds. This is theorised but not something that has been clearly established, that the Mora Ava prefer to fight a zu'aan host rather than a kin'toni one, the reasons are not clear but it is easy to trace the fact throughout their history.
In fact when the Pioneer clans’ council formed the parallel government, they had been prepared for a civil war but instead the Mora Ava became morose and lent their arms to the council and followed their lead. However, they are a warrior clan that has made it clear that they cannot survive and adapt to the times of peace or even relative peace, for the world has never truly been peaceful since the take over of the kin'toni kind. The Mora Ava have failed to find a role within society that would allow them to transition to anything other than warriors and even as warriors.
They have not seen any significant successes since they submitted to the Council. The Mora Ava clan members will be the first to tell you about how the council is prejudiced towards them and did not truly wish for them to be a part of the nation they were building. The Mora Ava claim that their history as rulers of the land and their prowess at warfare had made them a target for the weak civilian kin'toni leaders that understood that if the Mora Ava were to regain the trust of the general populace, they would unseat the leaders in a heart beat.
hus the Mora Ava believe that the kin'toni of the Ashat ruling council conspired against the kin'toni of the Mora Ava clan, and found a way to bring them down in the public opinion of the general kin'toni citizenry. The Mora Ava claim that the Ashat nations’ politicians conspired to have them thrown away from the position of leaders of the warrior clans by discrediting their prowess at their holy occupation of war. They did this by purposefully sending a small contingent of the Mora Ava to liberate the Red mines that are formed in the Tamor drylands.
And are an essential resource for the fight agains the the zu'aan for all of kin'toni kind. In the past, the mines had been held by a group of desperate zu'aan that had fled the cities in order to find a fortification that would allow them to defend against the inhuman might of the kin'toni. The Red mines became their last stand, and when the kin'toni learned of the contents of the mines, they were desperate to have the mines liberated from zu'aan occupation so as to prevent it becoming a means of resistance for the zu'aan agains the kin'toni.
The Mora Ava were lied to and sent in small number with faulty information.
Biology
The Mora Ava have been greatly changed throughout their history, they have had to lead difficult and strange phases throughout there history, and their biology has continually adapted with them in order to better accommodate the surroundings in which the kin'toni warriors have found themselves. In fact the Mora Ava are a perfect example of what the kin'toni are capable of, their ability to continually change to fit their environment and their chosen method of operation is a testament to the supreme ability of adaptation that the kin'toni have been granted by nature.
The kin'toni of the Mora Ava clan in fact are believed to have honed their ability to adapt by continually moving from one environment to another and as such may have advanced the ability that most kin'toni only have a slight degree of. The changes in their environment have been due to the nature of their work, since their banishment from the lands of Erea and particularly Ashat the kin'toni have lived as mercenaries, and have served kin'toni nations all across the world and have been particularly focussed on the warfare against zu'aan beings.
They have fought zu'aan cities in the the tundra, where they were known to grow thick fur like hair of the Itkali kin'toni, fought the naval zu'aan cities of Canlai in tandem with the empire of Nara, in these battles the kin'toni had lost a significant amount of their body mass to suit the conditions of naval battles. At present they are found in the forests of the Naked Dense forest in the Kingdom of Zelan, and here the kin'toni have developed a truly unique biological trait which clearly demonstrated the supreme quality of the kin'toni body to fit its purpose.
The kin'toni of the Mora Ava clan that are posted in the Nakeg Dense Forest have become the first recorded case of transparent eyelids. The kin'toni eyelids have become particularly thin so much so that they are able to see the world even between the blinks of their eye and even when asleep. Although the vision through the closed eyelids is not prefect and is not completely processed when the kin'toni is asleep, it does have some advantages. In particular the kin'toni of the Mora Ava clan are very difficult to take by surprise, which is one of the features of the war in the Dense forest.
The zu'aan that live in the forests of the Nakeg dense forest are not particularly eager for war, and so they must be trapped and forced into engagements, on the odd occasion the zu'aan have also themselves set ambushes for the kin'toni of the Mora Ava clan. In order to overcome these two features of the war that is being fought in the Nakeg forest, the kin'toni seem to have evolved transparent eyelids. With the help of the transparent eyelids, the kin'toni are able to be more aware of their surroundings when they are asleep which allows them to be both wary of attack as well as the setting of the traps for zu'aan.
They have dark orange irises with black sclera and a vertical slit pupils
Culture
The culture of the kin'toni is unique, and perhaps there is no society that is truly as pure in their pursuit of a warrior lifestyle as the Mora Ava are, they are certainly the most accomplished warriors of kin'toni kind that have been single minded in their pursuit and conduct of war. The kin'toni are not known to come from a singular bloodline, but were a collection of bloodlines of different warrior clans that were united by the founder of the Mora Ava clan, and despite their differences in even blood, the kin'toni are still very united in what they see to be their role in the world.
The kin'toni of the Mora Ava clan have perhaps been most changed by their banishment from the Erea landmass, a land that they themselves had sacrificed several lives to liberate. There is certainly a lot of bitterness among the Mora Ava about how the events after the mission to the Tamor drylands transpired, however there is very little feeling of vengeance. The Mora Ava do not seem to be motivated to bring the conspirators to justice but instead only focussed on the accomplishment of the goals that they have set for themselves.
The events surrounding the betrayal of the Mora Ava are not completely known by the common public and even those that know of the events do not completely believe in the account that the kin'toni have put forward. The Mora Ava claim that the first battle for the Red mines was fought by a contingent of their clan, the defeat at the Red mines of a prejudiced kin'toni host is a tale that almost every kin'toni is taught upon conversion in the present century.
The Mora Ava were dishonoured publicly for the humiliation of being defeated by a desperate and ill prepared foe, composed of mostly beggars, women and children. The accounts of the first battle of the red mines is meant to teach the new made kin'toni about humility of their kind and the fierceness of cornered zu'aan. The Mora Ava contingent that had been sent to the drylands is known to have been completely annihilated not even allowing the survival of even one kin'toni that could provide an account of how the events transpired at the time of battle.
The Mora Ava instead claim that one warrior was able to escape and struggled back to the headquarters of the clan in order to inform them of the betrayal of the pioneer clans. The Mora Ava claim that the information provided to the Mora Ava about the size of the host was a complete fabrication, so was the description of what kind of units made up the zu'aan force, while in the common narrative, the kin'toni of the Ashat claim that the zu'aan were desperate and unskilled.
In actuality, those zu'aan that occupied the red mines were one of the most skilled contingents of the zu'aan armies that had been separated from the main zu'aan army in a battle front that was being managed the Llyth, and had escaped to form their last stand at the mines.
Government
The kin'toni of the Mora Ava clan manage their own affairs, they operate much like a prehistoric tribe, and only truly respect kin'toni that are able to dominate the battlefield. Their experience with the kin'toni of the Ashat nation has also meant that they are incredibly sensitive about the nature of the approached the government with their truth and genuinely believed that the betrayal at the red mines was not truly a betrayal but a mistake that was made without any malice.
When the clan approached the council with their witness of the battle, the Mora Ava were publicly shamed for trying to manufacture details that would allow them to win back their honour. The public sentiment against the Mora Ava became so significant that the kin'toni of the Council were able to pass an order that not only banished the Mora Ava from the lands of the Ashat nation, and struck their name from the records of their history. Many would not be wrong in assuming that the Mora Ava would strike back and raise a civil war.
Nut the council had convinced the clan that the kin'toni citizens of the nation were ashamed of the Mora Ava and they would certainly never follow them in battle let alone bow down to their administration. Heartbroken and greatly weakened from the fight of the red mines, the Mora Ava departed from the lands of Ashat, at the time, the Ashat nation had already split as the Valsok had claimed independence under the mythical figure of the Dedunova Eelmalera, the First Emperor. The monarch of the newly founded kingdom of Itkal was sympathetic to the fate of the Mora Ava.
And offered them asylum, but he was still wary of the clan as he probably thought the move of the Ashat council being one that was motivated by the want of planting spies in his court. Therefore the kin'toni of the Mora Ava clan were kept at arms length, for the longest time the kin'toni of the Itkali kingdom tried to integrate the Mora Ava into their kingdom with little success. It was not for lack of trying by the Itkali administration that the Mora Ava failed to become a part of the Itkali army but the steadfast resolve of the Mora Ava in not battling other kin'toni.
The Mora Ava refused the First Emperor, when he proposed that the Mora Ava be applied in the ongoing battle with the Ashat nation, he had of course thought the proposal would go down well with the clan since it had been the administration of the Ashat nation that had betrayed and ousted the Mora Ava from their homeland, one that the Mora Ava themselves had won for the government. However, he underestimated the Mora Ava, or rather failed to understand the guiding ideology of the Mora Ava.
They believed that their pride as warriors would certainly mean that the kin'toni would readily attack the kin'toni of the Ashat nation and help destroy the kingdom but the Mora Ava refused all such offers. They were only concerned with the wars with the zu'aan.
Military
The influence of the Itkali and the Ashatan armies is still very much visible in the manner that the kin'toni of the Mora Ava conduct warfare. They have obviously spent significant time fighting with both of the nations armies and have also worked with the pirate nation of Tharis in their fights agains the zu'aan vessels that keep the other cities of the zu'aan connected by the route of the sea. Their bond with the pirates of Tharis is perhaps the closest alliance the kin'toni of Mora Ava have ever had even counting the numerous other nations that have hired the kin'toni of the clan as a mercenary company.
The link with the nation of Tharis is one that is due to the nature of their aim, both clans, the Mora Ava and the Idril are adamant about the zu'aan threat and believe in unity of effort to dislodge the increasingly strong resistance of the zu'aan against the disjointed efforts of the kin'toni nations in combating the zu'aan armies and attacking their strongholds. Initially the alliance was deemed to be an impossibility since the Mora Ava were prejudiced against the Tharis nation for being a product of desertion of war, a grave sin in their ethos.
But slowly the relationship between the two has blossomed, and now the Idril are counted among the few supporters of the clan of the Mora Ava. Their ships are used by the Mora Ava on several occasions and the Idril have also been responsible in getting the Mora Ava more clients for their Mercenary operations. When the Idril were first attacked by zu'aan and saved only due to the presence of their coral reefs, the Idril sought the intervention and assistance of the Mora Ava in trying to annihilate the zu'aan city from whence the attack had been sourced.
Their operation against the city had been nearly successful, although the kin'toni were unable to infiltrate the walled marine city, they were able to destroy the ports and the ships of the city and had thereby nearly neutralised the zu'aan city as a threat to the nation of Tharis. This co-operation has continued, in fact their current assignment in the forests of the Nakeg was sourced through the contact of the Idril clan with the ruling government of the Zelan, and they have continued to provide logistical support to the clan throughout the difficult operation.
It has been much longer than the Mora Ava had anticipated to destroy the zu'aan population that lives within the forest and the primary reason cited by the clan is that the zu'aan in the forest are unlike any of the zu'aan armies that the kin'toni have faced in their past illustrious career. The zu'aan that inhabit the Nakeg forest are more intone with the forest than the Mora Ava are, and so are able to use the plants and animals of the forest to dull the attacks of the Mora Ava. Therefore over the last century the focus of the Mora Ava has been on developing a better understanding of the forest itself.
Religion
The kin'toni of the Mora Ava clan are also believers of the religion of the Eyeless god, and can be said to be among the first kin'toni that actually began the practice of the religion. Although the Llyth clan of the Pioneer clans’s council is certainly the clan that made the religion accessible to the people of the kin'toni nations especially to Ashat, it is undoubtedly true that it was the Mora Ava that first began to propagate the religion. In fact, a lot of the teachings of the Eyeless god are linked to the history and ideology that the clan itself lives by.
An aspect of the Eyeless god that the Mora Ava pay particular attention is one that has been suspiciously avoided by the kin'toni that practice the religion within the borders of the Ashatan nation. The Tharis people on the other hand are very similar in belief to the kin'toni of the Mora Ava clan, and it is with the help of the Tharis clan that the Mora Ava have been able to put their sect’s views out into the open for other kin'toni to learn about. The Mora Ava are also credited with the practice beginning the points of purity.
A practice that has become quite popular on the mainland of the Ashat nation but not so much on the Tharis islands. To a man, the kin'toni of the Mora Ava clan are marked by the points of purity as for the kin'toni of the Mora Ava clan, the points of purity are not only a means of meditation and prayer but rather a test. The Mora Ava believe in the existence of the prophet of the Eyeless god, and it is this aspect of their religion that is so different from the one that is practiced by the other clans that believe in the Eyeless God.
The Mora Ava believe that the Eyeless god, will take a piece of himself and imbue it into the core of righteous kin'toni, that will lead the most powerful host of kin'toni that the world has ever seen and completely destroy all traced of the zu'aan kind and their infestation on the planet. The Eyeless god will choose a kin'toni that understands the suffering of nature and be compassionate enough to understand the delicate nature of the kin'toni heart.
The prophet will clear the vision of all kin'toni and turn them away from greed and avarice, an instead have the kin'toni focus on the true meaning of being a kin'toni. The kin'toni that becomes chosen by the Eyeless god, will become tied to the god and so will not need to be shielded from the sun, he will unlock the secrets of walking into the sun as once the zu'aan do, and so the kin'toni of the Mora Ava clan test their initiates with the points of purity. However, beyond a test anymore, the practice of the points has become throughly ingrained in them.
And they tend to renew their points well before any of them have healed or begun to dull.
Miscellany
The campaign of the kin'toni of the Mora Ava clan in the dense forest of Nakeg is one that has caused significant changes in the ideology of the Mora Ava, where before they had been fearless in their attacks on the zu'aan armies, now they apply caution. There have been hard lessons that have been learned in the forests, and the first of it has been the potential of the zu'aan to cause harm. kin'toni of the present generation tend to forget how dedicated to chaos and destruction the zu'aan had been, they had once brought nature itself to its very knees.
In their tiny city nations, zu'aan lead meek lives and serve as little threat for the overwhelming powers of the kin'toni nations. However, there are those that argue that the weakness of the zu'aan is one which is feigned and is ultimately aimed at making the kin'toni complacent and examine inwards. Regardless, in the forests of the Zelan kingdom, the kin'toni of the Mora Ava clan have relearned about the nature of zu'aan kind and their ability to wage war. In the distant past, the task of defeating the Xerea Empire seemed more on the lines fantasy than actual reality.
For the might of the zu'aan armies was one that had been tested and tested yet again to the result of defeat. That potential which had all but disappeared in the zu'aan of the city sates, seems to be very much alive in the zu'aan that call the Nakeg forest their home. The zu'aan population of the forests seems to have developed very little, in fact where the kin'toni of the mercenary company use good iron and hard steel, the zu'aan that attack the soldiers seem to do just with the use of cruel stone, unbending wood, and evil leather.
The zu'aan here are able to sneak up and lay traps for the kin'toni who with their superior number, finer senses and infinite experience are still unable to avoid. Of course the tactics of the zu'aan is not something that is foreign to the veteran warrior clan of the Mora Ava, but they are the first to admit that the ferocity of the zu'aan was a factor that they had failed to account for in their initial attacks. The Mora Ava are running out of options as the war drags on.
And the officials of the Zelan nation apply ever more pressure against the Mora Ava to have the matter resolved and the zu'aan brought to heel, by either conversion or annihilation. Their campaign in the forest is further complicated by the presence of the deadly animals and the plants of the Nakeg forest, which on some occasions seem to possessed to aid the zu'aan in escaping. The recent epidermic of the Black lung disease was particularly harmful for the Mora Ava as it cost them several capable soldiers and further forced them to abandon their campaign for several months as they attempted to understand the reasons for the disease and how to combat it effectively.
