History

For many years, the Risskelold Krater Field was very empty and there was a lack of a population there except for some very small hamlets that were built only as temporary residence for miners to have whilst working in the area, however, due to the instability of the region, miners would only stay for about as long as a month before returning to their places of residence. As that group of miners leave, another is sent to extract resources from the many craters that are full of useful metals that benefit neighbouring nations.

Although this system worked well, there was an issue with the nations being unsure who the region belonged to and hence trying to claim the land as their own – this would have been beneficial as that would mean all the metals would belong to them. This did lead to some conflicts, with wars breaking out between zu’aan just for shares of the bountiful region. However, this was all unnecessary as an agreement was finally reached that meant that the land could be divided into sections for each nation to have; one of the reasons for this was due to the uninhabitable nature of the Risskelold Krater Field.

Many factors come into play for why the region is almost uninhabitable, with the first reason being the lack of rain as well as the terrain: the ground mostly consists of rock and lacks any grass or dirt (with a few patches found here and there), meaning there was a struggle to grow crops. Furthermore, water was very rare in the region due to the lack of rainfall, and hence many mining groups would be sent with the food and drink they required for their shift. Disasters also took place every year, such as earthquakes that would sometimes have such a high magnitude that it would not be safe to have miners work there.

And hence these miners would have to evacuate and miss their shifts during these times. Also, any infrastructure that was potentially built would easily be destroyed, making it wasteful to make advancements and build up the region. Then the zu'aan came along and found the land to be free of anyone (likely due to the fact the yearly earthquakes may have just finished). Since the region was empty, it was ideal for the zu'aan as they did not have to fight any zu’aan or kin’toni to gain this land. Additionally, the earthquakes had caused the rocks to form in such a way that the zu'aan could easily make caves homes.

Which lead to the start of an infrastructure in the region for the first time in its whole history. Ultimately, the formation of the Draodeld Tribal Zu'aan was clear evidence that whilst the Risskelold Krater Field is certainly difficult to live, it is not uninhabitable and can in fact support the kin’toni and other living beings if the land is used prudently and wisely and resources are carefully managed and distributed accordingly.

Psychology

When the Risskelold Krater Field was occupied by miners from different nations all extracting resources to return home with, the gloomy atmosphere that devoured the desolate land still remained; these miners knew that for the few weeks they were away on their shift they would have to live in these shabby houses – or huts rather – that had been built so that they had somewhere to stay. To help lighten the mood, they would sometimes visit the huts of other miners from different nations to have some more company, and in fact this was beneficial as many far away nations that rarely negotiated with each other were able to discuss their nations with pride.

And share what life is like for them back home. This coping mechanism was their only hope of keeping sanity and not being consumed by the never-ending boredom of having to wake up, eat, work, rest, eat, work, rest, eat, sleep, repeat. The monotony of this would be painful, and on top of that the work was laborious and difficult, as well as energy sapping. Another issue was the security of this job, with the earthquakes making the mining tasks unsafe, and hence some miners may have to leave their work midway through or even lose their shift – which was very detrimental financially.

This all changed though when the Draodeld Tribal Zu'aan occupied the land, with the clan being a set of travellers that had finally found a place to reside and were now determined to craft an infrastructure that provided them with a secure, sustainable home. Although the beginning was difficult with the need to make the cave homes more liveable, the tribe all worked together to mine their way into the stony colossal mountains and even into some of the craters where they could create underground homes.

Once their work was done, the clan found themselves often mining resources out of their homes as the Risskelold Krater Field was abundant with ores or bored out of their minds at having nothing else to do. In general, most members of the Draodeld Tribal Zu'aan would like to migrate somewhere which is better than the Risskelold Krater Field as the earthquakes still affect them, as shown by how all the plans for an underground city went down the drain after an earthquake caused the residents of underground housing to be crushed tragically and horrifically by the ceilings caving in.

During periods of intense earthquakes, the tribe often find themselves having to migrate to neighbouring nations temporarily, and it is at this time when many members try to start a new life in these nations so that they no longer have to return to their unsustainable new homeland.

Culture

When miners used to occupy the Risskelold Krater Field, they would often discuss their culture back home and share it with other neighbouring mining groups from other nations. This was often done as a way to pass the time as the barren, lacklustre space did not have any landmarks of interest or anything that may be intriguing; it was simply just a mountainous rocky region with many craters that contained valuable materials. Gifts were often exchanged with many memorabilia and traditional items were given, as well as new friendships born out of the work and even alliances between nations.

There was even an occasion when one mining group gifted the other group and managed to prevent a war as this event became an example of peace and harmony that could exist between all nations using the Risskelold Krater Field for resources; this event would later lead to talks between ruler of the nations, until all the nations signed the agreement that gave them their share of the land that they could use for mining. Culture in the region grew however when the Draodeld Tribal Zu'aan occupied it, as they saw it as saw it as their name.

One of the aspects of culture was finding ways to cope with the boredom of living in caves and underground homes during the daylight hours. One of them was by producing wonderful works of art on the walls or working to make extensions to make more room – the members of the clan were very talented in architecture and had knowledge of how to turn a small cave into a grand home. A lot of the time, they would toil away at making tunnels that linked up the houses, creating in a way the foundation for a city that could be lived in without being exposed to the sunlight – an ideal dream for the zu'aan.

Sleep was also important and if the zu'aan were not do anything they would often do this to pass the time until the evening. The environment also had a factor in the culture of the clan, with many wearing clothes that were often brought from foreign nations, and then when torn or damaged would be repaired using the skin of animals. Another advancement that was made was securing the patches of dirt that could be found and trying to start growing crops in the nutrient rich soil.

Although it was a difficult feat, there are certainly signs of progress and the possibility of farming being possible. A goal now is to try and find more water in the region so that it is certain that the Risskelold Krater Field is sustainable for plenty of zu'aan.

Government

The Risskelold Krater Field always lacked any form of government as it was simply just land that the miners of different nations were sent to in order to collect resources for their homeland. But once many nations started using the land, tensions began as one nation felt that they were entitled to a section of land that another nation felt they deserved. This caused tensions to start between many nations and even to an extent small battles took place both in the crater field and outside of it that involved soldiers of different nations fighting each other whilst evacuating the workers of their nation.

The continuation of this eventually led to alliances being formed and the miners that were simply there for their work found themselves in the midst of political warfare between many nations and forced to be in line with their nation’s beliefs. The earthquakes that took place in the region reduced the number of conflicts within the region, but ultimately many nations were more than keen to continue the warfare outside of it, sending their troops over distant lands to attack the other opposing nations. Soon many protested for peace.

And after heavy pressure from protestors, the governments found themselves coming to agreements and suggesting it would be best to give each nation a share of land and leave buffer zones between each share. In these buffer zones, there was the start of a possible infrastructure with roads being built to allow for easy transport for all nations – these roads were not ideal, however, and were very rocky and bumpy and at times challenging to traverse on. Diplomacy became common in these regions and a lot of the miners ended up becoming diplomats after some political training when returning from their shifts.

It is arguable though that the rise of a proper functioning government in the Risskelold Krater Field came when the Draodeld Tribal Zu'aan arrived, as they saw the region to be their potential and hence felt for it to be sustainable a sense of authority was necessary. The first declaration was that all members of the Draodeld Tribal Zu'aan should be treated equally in their new home and with the same respect, which has been followed quite well – this was made by the leader of the travelling clan Costel Nica. He believed that by doing this, people would be willing to stay in a not-so-desirable territory due to the kindness of its people.

And in a sense his ideas became the reality as many did come to the Risskelold Krater Field for temporary residence. Whilst there is not necessarily any form of formal ruler or constitution, the leader of the clan Costel Nica often helps in making choices and delegates the land to the different nations, and believes that he can find a better home for his tribe in future once a ‘zu'aan empire’ has been established since he can offer the resourceful land to them in hopes of receiving accommodation and a place to stay, as well as food, drink and other necessities.

Military

Before the occupation of the Risskelold Krater Field by the Draodeld Tribal Zu'aan, there was rarely the presence of armies in the region except for during war times, where many nations fought for more land in the crater field, and also felt that their miners needed protection in the event of revenge attacks to damage the extraction of resources by that nation. These wars were often fought very viciously, and many corpses could be found scattered around during the aftermath, decorating the once desolate region with not life but death and the remains of life.

In some places, military equipment could be scavenged, and miners would often take these home. After the agreement had been signed, these wars stopped but these remainders could always be found, examples of the greed that leaders would have for some resources. Whilst the Draodeld Tribal Zu'aan rarely have a need to use their military, the clan certainly has the people that would be ideal troops. Their muscular physique and impeccable strength are optimal for a soldier, and their height allows them to be able to tower over their enemies and deliver powerful blows.

In fact, their nocturnal abilities made it so that the armies of other zu'aan groups were more than eager to recruit zu'aam from the Draoldeld tribe. Furthermore, the origins of the clan are from being a small group of travellers in search of a home, so the members of the clan are well-equipped and trained in travelling through a myriad of terrains and multiple types of regions. Espionage is also easier for the tribe, since its diversity means that the right people can be found to be spies that can infiltrate different nations and collect data and information.

The bountiful quantity of natural resources – particularly metals – would also provide for the tribe as it allowed them to repair the tools and make extensions to the infrastructure of their society, as well as make many strong weapons. Since there was such an abundance of ores and coal, the ores could be forged in large furnaces and the metals could be made into many weapons and equipment: these include sharp swords, durable shields, pointy spears, razor-sharp knives, harsh daggers and much more. The molten metal can also be moulded into powerful strong armour that can take many blows.

As well as remain more lightweight to compensate for the lack of dexterity that these zu'aan have due to their bulky size. A lot of the weapons and protective clothing or armour that are produced are often sold to neighbouring nations and has been able to help the clan survive as many nations were willing to make deals with the clan to provide them with accommodation during times of crisis if the tribe provided their effective, potent weaponry. Furthermore, the tribe is skilled in many forms of combat as it consists of people from different traditions and cultures.

So are trained in different styles of fighting – this makes the clan a lethal force to fight against and is also another reason why the Draodeld Tribal Zu'aan has the potential to have a super prevailing military force.

Religion

Before the Draodeld Tribal Zu'aan occupied the Risskelold Krater Field, the zu’aan miners from many different regions would follow their faiths and often share them with other zu’aan. Small shrines and even modest temples were constructed, with the hopes that religion could be followed and used as a way to diminish the boredom of living in such a barren land. Many people even ended up converting from atheism or their own faith to others, after being entranced by some of the more religious miners who used this as an opportunity to spread the word of their faith.

When the zu'aan tribe occupied the land though, these faiths were often neglected and the clan opted for following their own beliefs or continuing with just meditation; the tribe is one full of travellers that come from different backgrounds and ethnicities, each with their own set of beliefs and morals. As the clan began establishing themselves, travellers from other clans would journey through the region as well as pilgrims, who often ended up inspiring the zu'aan to find their faith and convert from their atheistic mindset where they followed meditation to one where the fell in submission to a deity or multiple deities.

Most of these faiths lived together in harmony and there was no conflict, as in the end all religions believed they were united as zu'aan and were all a part of the Draodeld Tribal Zu'aan. However, there was also some occasions where many members of a faith tried to enforce their religion open others in the tribe and would even go so far as to use force; the solution that the rulers of the clan came up with was to banish them and those that transgressed the rules too much would be killed as a reminder to show that their actions would never be tolerated and these are the consequences if anyone is daring enough to drive others into a faith they are unwilling to believe in.

Witchcraft is also believed to be practised, with some of the faithful members of the clan fearing them as they believed that witches and the practice of magic are impermissible. These so-called ‘witches’ often kept themselves in seclusion, and their actions were unknown to the public. With sleep being a key factor of life in the clan, many zu'aan would make themselves shamans that said that they could use their dreams to provide guidance and predict the future of the Draodeld Tribal Zu'aan. However, these views were mixed as some claimed that the Draoldeld clan would prosper.

And soon grow in size to become a great powerful mining city, whilst others suggested that after years of struggle the realisation would come that the region is too uninhabitable. Some believed that dolls could be made, and they would whisper to the spirits during sleep and also capture dreams, allowing the zu'aan to project themselves into different realms whilst in a sleeping state – these beliefs were similar to those in astral projection and lucid dreaming. None of this can be confirmed to be true or simply make-believe.
