History

The history of Xar Tropical Flower Plains begins before the first zu’aans called it their home, during the Stone Age. Before the first year of the first epoch, these lands were full of vegetation and animals of many kinds. The Xar of those times resembled a forest more than a simple plain until a fire started during a dry season that scorched the land. Many decades after the catastrophe, the original vegetation hardly managed to grow, but the nearby region's flowers thought otherwise. During the first discovery of these lands by the first zu’aans, the land was already fully healed from its destructive past. To the zu’aans, it looked like a paradise.

As the Stone Age ended, entering the first year of the first epoch, the population of zu’aan in Xar increased by a noticeable amount in the past decade and the plains in Xar were covered in the characteristic tropical flowers that the name Xar Tropical Flower Plains was after. E3-1244 was the year the Xar plains became united under one banner to defend the land against foreign invaders. During the war, native zu’aan managed to hold their ground for a few decades but it was a losing battle. Little by little, the foreign forces were capable of taking more land until one day they retreated and gave up all the land they had taken. Word got around that the invading kingdom recalled all forces as it was under attack from the many forces they were at war with.

E3-1272 was the year in which Xar Tropical Flower Plains was officially declared as the native people’s land by the only people that matter, the natives themselves. The statement itself was protected by their military power.Being a beautiful landscape, it was a wonderful place for tourists and the rich folk who wanted a retirement place. This trend was held strong from the Middle Ages until the Space Age. Activists managed to hold the greed of the politicians and keep the land prosperous throughout this entire time. The land itself didn’t change its attractiveness in the Space Age, but simply the attention shifted from seeing the beauty of the land to seeing the beauty in space.

Throughout the hundreds of years, genetic experiments were made on the native flowers in Xar and the result of those experiments was the birth of a series of flowers that could have been used in many different ways. Some could repel bugs, kill pests, medical help, or simply for aesthetic purposes. When the zu’aan civilization fell, these lands were painted red. Despite the resistance and strategies that were deployed, this place was one of the first to completely fall to the kin’toni disease. The plants that were engineered to help and alleviate the problems zu’aan had were their downfall. The experimental plant that was supposed to absorb nearby plants' traits was the core of destruction that the zu’aan never saw coming.

Today, Xar Tropical Flower Plains remains a desolate place for all zu’aan. Still shining with life, the vegetation and animals can be found in every corner.

Geography

. Xar Tropical Flower Plains, a land of mesmerizing beauty, diverse ecological factors, and colorfulness, is mostly throughout the year a sunny place with the occasional rains. Vast expanses of flowers in the plains of Xar give the feeling of seeing a colorful ocean and with the swaying grass reinforcing this feeling, it becomes a place of peace. The region benefits from a tropical climate characterized by warm temperatures throughout the year and high humidity, particularly during fall. The most dominant feature of all the plains in Xar is the colorfulness of the blooming flowers. Thanks to their diversity in colors, no place seems the same. One of the most eye-catching plains in Xar is the northwestern plain.

The colors of the dominant species of flowers in this plain vary in a lot of ways. When seen from far it looks like a painting done with acrylic paints and when seen from near, the beauty of each flower can be witnessed with their special petals. With multiple sources of water throughout the land, the vegetation in Xar has more than enough to thrive alongside the animals. One of the biggest sources of water in these plains is the Shkri Rivers. Being fed by the continuous melting snow from the mountain range near Xar, this river has enough water to feed the plains even after splitting into two before reaching the heart of Xar. The two splitting rivers go through Xar with the southern Shkri ending in the Xar Lake and the western Shkri River exiting the region.

Despite being low in minerals near the surface, the zu’aan did not stop the search for metals and dug deeper. Their efforts were rewarded with large fossils of the past. Many prehistorical animals are now extinct with even more fossils of plants with some DNA still in few of them. The tunnels dug have become a maze today with the half-caved-in tunnels. The tunnels have become home to different animals and plants throughout the decades. Being the treasure trove of anyone who is somewhat interested in flowers, Xar Tropical Flower Plains boasts an unparalleled collection of exotic flowers and plants.

The remains of buildings on the land are covered with moss and flowers, reclaimed by nature. Most of the rubbles are near Xar Lake. This lake is home to a few kinds of aquatic creatures and a wide variety of flowers and submerged plant life. Being in a constant amount of water throughout the year, it is a reliable source of water for the animals roaming the region. Its depths are not outstanding, 8 meters, but the area surface of the lake is 1.230 square kilometers which makes it the biggest of the region. Its crystal-clear water is sharply cut off by the thick vegetation growing 2 meters tall from the bottom of the lake. This vegetation hosts the fish living in Xar Lake and is the common food for the herbivores who have made nests in and out of the lake. Despite its calming feeling, this lake is as dangerous as all of Xar.

Plants

The flora of Xar is a unique one. Visually speaking, it is a rainbow on earth from all points of view for every plain. Biologically speaking, the majority of plants today in Xar’s plains are not naturally evolved but bio-engineered from before the zu’aan civilization collapsed. Thanks to the enhanced adaptability and guidance for the evolution in the DNA, these flowers have advanced into not only surviving in the wild but thriving by sharing the characteristics they individually have with each other. The original flower before its modifications was called bukra. Bukra’s petals were with a wide base keeping their width until halfway to the tip. The petals themselves were white, with large flower stalks, and short stems. This flower was chosen by the genetic engineering team for various reasons lost to time.

The various versions of this flower after the genetic experiments vary from esthetic to medicinal. One of the esthetic flowers currently growing in Xar is the hije, a flower with colors of its petal being in a darker variant of its relatives. Dyll is the most eye-catching flower. Its petals can change colors throughout the day depending on the time of the day. Created to be a substitute for the electrical clock, this flower was quite favored. Dyll’s sister, vapa, was developed to change colors like Dyll but instead of timing, it would change colors depending on the heat. It could withstand temperatures up to 90 degrees Celsius.

On the medicinal side of the flowers, there are para, ceti, recet, and sfungj. These plants were the backbone of the organic manufacturing of medicine thanks to their petals holding the liquid that could have been used. Para is a flower that would grow white petals with transparent roofing to them, working like insulation. This insulation would protect the petal until the liquid was ripe. The liquid could work as a disinfectant and could numb the pain from being cut. Ceti would grow its seeds inside its petals. These seeds after ingested would work as a headache calmer. Despite that, after evolution from the fast artificial metabolism of the plant, it now can also work as a laxative. Recet is a plant that would work as a diagnostic tool to check different types of afflictions. Thanks to its different petal colors and their respective chemical composure, it is easy to understand if you have been poisoned, have a disease, or if you have high cholesterol. Today this plant is also capable of being able to be ingested to cleanse the insides of a person.

Sfungji is the most special flower of the group. Even after originating from the same flower, this variant has managed to gain only adaptability. The only ability it gained was to copy the abilities of nearby plants. This allowed the cloning of plants for medical purposes rather easily. Today, this plant not only can copy the flowers nearby but also has the disease of kin’toni inside of it, making it a threat to all zu’aan. All herbivores have learned to not touch this plant by any means. Occasional nomadic zu’aan who witnessed.

Animals

The animals of Xar Tropical Flower Plains are a large variety of critters. Generically being small, the animals of this place are quite peculiar. Despite the small stature they have adapted, it is quite significant being able to live in Xar with almost no place to hide and with poisonous plants looking like a pretty sight. That and the fact that the plants are changing a lot by the decade, so the animals themselves have little time to learn or to perish. The most tenacious critter of the entire region is the miju. Miju is a small-sized omnivore that has adapted to differentiate between the plants not by sight but by smell. This small rodent has ever-growing teeth and can replace them infinitely.

This feature allows it to be able to chew through most foods without caring much. The only reason why this chewing machine is at the bottom of the food chain is its size. The next smallest animal on the list would be four times the size of a miju. It can have litters of pups throughout the year and it's not a picky eater. It can eat all the plants thanks to its evolution. Being an omnivore, it can eat plants and meat but thanks to its teeth it can consume the bones of corpses. It is the only animal that can exclude the poisons in its body efficiently without having much backlash, meaning it can eat poisonous flowers and just has to go to drop a few drops from the back.

Ahshi, the dominant carnivore in Xar’s plains. All the small animals have learned to run at first sight of this animal. Ahshi’s main weapon is its fangs, not long enough to reach the vital organs of most animals but combined with the biting power of its jaw, it can deliver big amounts of damage. Being double the size of a miju, it can easily overpower it, making it its favorite food source. Being limbless, gjarpri is the stealthiest predator in Xar. Thanks to its evolution, this carnivore has adapted to stay under the flower bed permanently, combined with its ability to make almost no noise when moving, making it the perfect assassin. This would have been the case if it wasn’t for the fact that every animal is small and short enough to remain under the flower bed.

Despite its length, the girth of the body, and strength being ignorable for normal animals, the body size of the fauna in Xar is a goliath. Not being able to produce poison, this animal uses its body to strange its prey. Despite the size difference between the animals living in Xar Tropical Flowers Plains and the world outside of it, Xar is a ferocious land displayed with the beauty of an innocent flower, hiding the corpses of its victims underneath its leaves while basketing underneath the sunlight. A perfect phrase describing the ecosystem of Xar. Anyone who wondered inside was warned about the dangers and the amount of casualties inside of it. All who entered wondered the same question, “If it is so dangerous, where are all the corpses?”.
