Geography
Deep under the Vohaar Blossom Forest, a complex cave system rises. With one opening under the biggest vohaar tree, this cave system begins. It is where the Awnaler Kin'toni Clan thrive. Before talking about the cave system, it is important to talk about why the Vohaar Blossom Forest used to be a place for battles. Geographically speaking, the forest, which was called Middle Grasslands a long time ago, is located in the middle of two rivers, not important enough to be used for trading, but good enough for armies to settle near them.
The plane ground without trees was great for front battle confrontations. After becoming the Vohaar Blossom Forest, some battles still took place under the beautiful trees, but any as big as they used to be. No one is sure how, but under one of those trees, an opening to the cave system was formed. Nowadays the Awnaler Kin'toni Clan makes sure to hide and secretly lock it away from any wander that may find the opening on the tree trunk interesting. The first cave is simple, carved to perfection and secure by the clan members, it has one single opening.
This opening leads downwards, to a bigger cave, used by the clan members as a social circle, almost like a plaza, carved onto the stone into perfection. It is common to find a shining white crystal under the grounds of the Vohar Blossom Forest, this is mostly what the clan uses for light. By this second cave, it is possible to find a huge portal going downwards, finally opening itself to the amazing city carved into the deep stone of the caves. The rocks share their space with beautiful underground creeks and rivers, adored by the clan. They use these rivers as a form of transportation of communication, having small boats with letters and messages from one port to the other.
It is common to find several tiny ports around the shores of these rivers. Taking the natural shape of the rivers, the clan was able to carve around it, a system where the boats are always stopped by port, giving time for the person in command to see if the message was sent for them or for another port. If it was sent to another port, they will let the boat go back again, until it reaches its final destination. Within this giant castle of carved stone, it is possible to find the housing of the tribe. The houses tend to have one opening and are shared by groups that call themselves "family".
The buildings are commonly built atop of each other, with carved stairs and complex small pathways. This creates a bigger sense of community for the clan. The rivers located underground of the Vohaar Blossom Forest are not only these used for communication, as there are several smaller rivers and strings of water going around everywhere all the time. Because of this, the sound inside the caves is a soft hum, something well accepted and loved by the Awnaler Kin'toni Clan Members.
Plants
The plants located in the biome can be present only outside, inside and both. As already spoken about, the most easy to spot plant is the vohaar tree, completely and only native to this biome, this tree is mostly used by the clan members for its strong wood, being one of the most important materials used by them, besides the rocks of the caves, in their constructions and the building of their underground castle. This tree is also home to several wildlife creatures, this includes rodents and birds. The trunk of the tree takes a shade of white with brown strings following the line of the barks.
Another plant located in the biome is the musat, a type of mushroom that grows commonly by the foot of the vohaar tree and near the shores of the underground rivers. These mushrooms, similar to the white crystals, emit a soft white shining, even after being ripped out of the ground, the mushroom can be replanted elsewhere and the light will still shine. Therefore, it is very common to find the musat in every household of the Awnaler Kin'toni Clan, as the mushrooms are easier to transport than the crystals
Said crystals, called emasic, have an almost translucent look to them. No one is sure how the crystal loses its light, but slowly they start to "die" as the clan members refer to it. When the light starts to slowly disappear, it is common for the members to repot musat mushrooms around the light. And somehow, it works, the crystal can be revived, using the powerful force of the mushrooms. As the clan does not study the properties of both crystal and mushroom, no one is sure exactly why this happens. Folklore says the crystal and the mushroom vibrate in the same frequency, that's why, when near, the crystal can adhere to the light from the mushroom.
Other plants located in the biome are like the kveet, this plant is a bush type of plant, that produces a berry and it was present in the biome way before the vohaar trees. This berry used to be used by clans and tribes during wars as medicine. It is possible to crush the red berries into a thick paste, this paste can be used like that, by spreading it on wounds, or it can be mixed into a liquid, commonly water, to work as a healing potion. Another commonly found plant in the biome is the bipati, which can be found both underground all over the cave systems, and above the ground.
This plant is a root vegetable with green leaves spotting out of the ground. Both the leaves and the vegetable can be eaten. The leaves are normally eaten raw, being called bismanti, while the vegetable can also be eaten raw, it is normally boiled to a soft consistency and served with spices.
Animals
The animals located in the forest do not enter the cave system, no one can be sure if they are simply not drawn to the underground or they do, in fact, avoid it. Some bigger animals, like the wilfer, a four-footed furry creature with antlers, are used by the Awnaler Kin'toni Clan for its blood, when they can't have zu'aan blood. This creature is also used for its fur, as the clan does not need protection against the sun in the cave system, they use it against the weather. Even if the dirt and rocks are a great insulator against the hard weather, things can get to the point of almost freezing during the winter.
Another creature native to the Vohaar Blossom Forest is the bird lazink, the size of an adult zu'aan, this bird lives, nests and mates in the forest, never migrating to another place, even during winter. Contrary to the beliefs and studies related to birds, these creatures hibernate all winter. Their nests are on the ground, normally near the trunk of the vohaar trees. There is some zu'aan folklore about the creatures, they are peaceful and only eat plants, but their size creates legends about deadly creatures, half-bird half people, haunting the grounds and skies of the forest.
These birds were not native to the Middle Grasslands, they did appear once the place became the blossoming forest, but no one can be sure of the stories involving the birth and mutation of these animals. They are avoided by the Awnaler Kin'toni Clan, given the folklore behind them. The clan do believe they are violent beasts of some magical powers, which is far away from the truth. About the mammals located in the region besides the wilfer, it is possible to find the icenes and the giscas in the biome. The icenes is a very small furry and hopper creature, that tends to sleep during the night and act during the day.
They are, unfortunately, very low in the food chain of the biome, these creatures reproduce at a high speed, making so there are no possibilities of extinction. The creature that does eat the icenes, is the giscas, a four-footed long mammal, with dark and smooth fur, that hunts during the night and sleeps during the day. This animal is known to find icenes nests and destroy them in one go. The giscas tend to always be seen in packs and they do migrate to other warmer regions during winter, but they are native only to the Vohaar Blossom Forest.
