History

During the early centuries of kin'tonian society many formations, merging periods, disbanding period and reformations came at the cost of certain decisions made by previous clan leaders from around 4E 10 to approximately 4E 13; however, although it is not entirely known who first founded the Uraken clan before it got the Uraken name, it appears as if a fresh leader named Symine Lliat had been exiled from the Aw'drai clan for a mistake that she never made, so as a result, she decided to found her own clan of exiles and the clan was henceforth referred to as the Uraken clan, a name that the clan has retained for nearly 240 years.

It does have a surprisingly challenging history, as well as an interesting backstory. During the first several thousand years of the Uraken clan's current existence, Lliat began to form a unique governmental establishment/ Because of that, many of the clan's previous allies made frequent visits to the Uraken clan's region to try and patch things up; however, some of these amendments were not to be, but in return, most of the Uraken clan's allies were able to renegotiate their alliance relations with the new leader and government, and as a result amends were made. However, during the Shattering, most of the clan's allies suddenly turned on Lliat and her clan and that forced them to retaliate.

By the time Lliat had died in the year 4E 154, shortly after the Shattering, the Uraken clan was reduced to under half of its peak population, and its new leaders decided without further notice to start anew and form a new government from scratch, claiming that the old government was just not meant to succeed and were easily taken advantage of by their would-have-been allies. This resulted in a campaign by the leaders of this new government to turn as many zu'aan as possible in order to recuperate from their previous losses, but despite the campaign proving to be successful most of the zu'aan that were turned were ridden with physical ailments such as Grzyanza.

And that caused more than eighty per cent of the clan's current population to contract the disease and die. Currently, there are more than three hundred of the Uraken kin'toni left in existence, but the number has fluctuated slightly over the course of the lack of several years as a result of the kin'toni continuing to turn diseased zu'aan despite their prior campaign's failure. What is also noticeable about the modern Uraken kin'toni is that they, too, have a surprising set of different problems about them that also served as a problem of several of the generations that came before them, which includes biological, psychological, and cultural issues.

It is not yet clear why this is, but some of the Uraken clan's allies suggest that this was a mistake made over a period of years and it is also the same mistake that has been made by the Uraken clan's ancestors leading up to modernity.

Psychology

When push comes to shove the Uraken kin'toni typically looks at the glass as half empty rather than half-full or even half; needless to say, Uraken kin'toni, in general, are very self-deprecating and pessimistic about their future, and they don't seem to have a problem showing it every now and then when given the chance. Because of this, one would typically suggest that while the typical Uraken kin'toni is not necessarily suicidal, it normally has a tendency to suffer from long bouts of depression during the day and has been known to cry oneself to sleep during the day in one's own underground bunker when the sun is out and at play.

Because Uraken kin'toni is so pessimistic they find that their ancestors, who would have promised them a prosperous future, were betrayed by their allies in the worst possible way, and for that, they generally don't see their allies eye to eye, and even if they were their allies the Uraken kin'toni believe that in an apocalypse it is every kin'toni for oneself. They are known to be rather xenophobic as other clans, as even their allies have betrayed them. This has made them wary of outsiders, most of the time they are just very suspicious of outsiders. Sometimes it goes further and they attack outsiders to drive them from their territory.

This is made other clans wary of them and unwilling to make allies with them. They are willing to betray their allies if needed. That being said, most Uraken kin'toni also has some sort of a trauma-related issue that come up at various points in their existences, whether it be a bad memory from centuries past or a long-forgotten memory that continues to haunt them even today and for this reason they have been known to become reclusive for an extended period of time. For some reason, the Uraken kin'toni also has a slight bit of optimism regarding the future despite it constantly being overshadowed and overwhelmed by one's own complaining and whining.

Part of the reason is because one, the Uraken kin'toni understands that it has the potential to live for thousands of years if one plays one's own cards right, and; two, the Uraken kin'toni realizes his or her own special potential in a world that has been driven to madness. It is not yet clear or decipherable as to why exactly this is a fact about the Uraken clan. But some within the clan suggest that this optimism comes with great wisdom and fathoming. Given that, the psychological aspects of a Uraken kin'toni are predominated by the gloom and doom of their individually pessimistic views of their own mental landscape and world.

Biology

The Uraken are adapted to the extreme heat vast open spaces and low water availability of the Lyuia Outback. They are lean, sinewy and incredibly long-limbed of build. This allows them great speed and immense stride lengths. The dnside of this that their extreme height and narrow stance make them unstable and easily unbalanced on slopes or shifting ground. The skin is heavily callused, thick and a reddish-ochre in color. It has a layer of micro-scale formations. The skin is saturated with heat-dispersing proteins and specialized, radiation-reflecting micro-crystals.

This allows them to withstand the heat of the outback. Being thick and dry, their skin is also brittle and prone to cracking in high humidity or cold. The hair is very sparse and coarse. It only grows in small, dense patches around the joints and the nape of the neck. This hair is adapted to resist entanglement and damage from sand and thorns while providing minimal heat insulation. The eyes are small, deep set and with pronounced, bony ridges. These eyes are yellow-gold in color, and have vertically slit pupils.

The eyes have an triple-layered eyelid structure that rapidly seals against fine dust and sand. While the eyelids are down, they are blinded. The ears are just small, heavily folded structures. These are covered in tough, protective skin and dense hair tufts. The complex folds are adapted to funnel and filter out wind noise. This allows them to hear faint prey movements. The downside of this is unable to hear low wind like sounds. Nasal passages are have reinforced, movable cartilage flaps that can seal the nostrils completely during dust storms.

These stop the inhalation of sand and fine particulates. The teeth are flattened and thickened, with powerful incisors and molars for crushing bone and dry hides. These teeth have an regenerative cycle that that quickly heals chips and wear caused by gritty food and sand exposure. The clas are short, thick and blunt. These claws are adapted for running, but lack a sharp point for piercing or fine manipulation. The feet have tough, heavily padded soles with widely splayed digits. This allows them to distribute weight evenly, allowing them to travel silently and swiftly over soft sand dunes.

These padded soles also lack sensitive receptors, meaning they have poor tactile perception of the ground surface. This leads to being prone to falls on sharp or uneven stone. The muscles are adapted for extreme endurance and low-maintenance effort. This allows them to swiftly move for hours on end. Due to the focus on endurance, they lack explosive, weight-lifting-level strength. They have an cellular function that is adapted to have highly efficient metabolic pathways, that much lower the amount of water required for basic biological processes.

The downside of this is an build-up of toxic nitrogenous waste products that need them to drink a large amount of water or water rich blood and then urinate to purge.

Culture

The Uraken kin'toni have a very unique culture about them that makes them distinguishable from other clans; for example, they are known for their unique solution to their own body odour problems, which is essentially a perfume that allows the Uraken kin'toni to smell great for up to a few days at a time when applied to the entire body. Although it is a rather strange solution to their body odour problem, they are very conservative with their perfume, choosing to only use it when they need to, and their occasional use of their perfume bottles also cause them to have a heightened sense of smell. Although some suggest that it also causes one to experience blurry vision from time to time.

Furthermore, the Uraken kin'toni have a very distinguishable relationship with their pets, which can be found all across their region, supposedly to protect the region itself from invaders or threats. The Uraken kin'toni train their pets to protect them from certain invasions, and in some cases, they will more than likely help their animal pets by standing side by side to form a kin'toni wall across their region in an attempt to scare their intruders off should they happen to get past their pets, which are, in most cases, much larger than they are. The pets, more often than not, serve as the Uraken clan's guardians and are very loyal to the Uraken clan in their outback region.

The majority of the Uraken kin'toni population also have a very original trait about themselves that makes them not like their allies or even their foes. As a result, it is the majority of the Uraken clan's social awkwardness that causes them to act very much unlike their interregional neighbours and those from abroad. There is not yet a clear or definitive reason or explanation for this presently, but some of the clan's allies suggest that the Uraken kin'toni are often very smelly, which makes some of their allies not want to be around them to an extent. But, according to some Uraken kin'toni, the reason for their social awkwardness is because of their obsession with trying to stay clean.

There is too the fact that they never bathe because the water in their region is very dirty. In general, most of the Uraken kin'toni seem to have a stranglehold on their body odour, but they interact with each other in very strange ways. They don't always do this when engaged in conversation. But at many points during a typical Uraken kin'toni's conversation with someone else one's own eyes and ears may twitch, which makes them very strange individually; yet, they somehow manage to work well with one another when working on things, and they especially work well together in battle when their own lives are at stake

Government

While it is generally assumed that the clan has no structured form of government, the Uraken kin'toni claim that their government is just as structured as that of any other clan; that being said, the Uraken kin'toni categorize themselves as a hierarchy, with the best and brightest minds and talents being promoted to take the place of clan leadership and responsibility. But there's a strange catch: if one is loyal enough to the clan and its leaders, one can see oneself becoming a part of the clan's leader and essentially be given the responsibility to determine what the clan does on a regular basis.

Currently, the clan's governmental structure is as follows: like in royalty, there is a clan leader or Huazdu, and there are also several other designated clan leaders who are allowed to take the clan leader's place temporarily when he or she is in the middle of a meeting with one's own cohorts; also, there are other figures within this governmental structure that also serve as spiritual guides (or, Burzulians) or even authoritarian figures (or, Zucaoneans) and have been known to accompany the clan leader during meetings from occasion to occasion. As a result, each designated clan leader is also responsible for choosing a designated clan leader in case they mysteriously disappear or die.

Strangely enough, it is rare for a Huazdu, Burzulian or Zucaonean to die while in office, but in the sixteen millennia since the new government was formed only sixty kin'toni have died while serving as an official within the Uraken kin'toni governmental structure; and what's even stranger than that, it is also quite rare for Uraken kin'toni to resign while in office, although some within the Uraken governmental structure have, in fact, decided to retire from their respective positions while in power, predominantly due to illness, war or assassination. Because of that, those that serve on the Urukryl-Surtyr are usually part of it for life.

When vacancies occur within the Urukryl-Surtyr special tournaments are held within the four sectors of the clan's region to determine the kin'toni that will replace the vacant leader, as well as several other kin'toni who will serve a designated role. Applications are etched in stone in various caves across the region in the event that such a scenario was to play out, and after several weeks applications will close to make way for the tournament, which will take place in the centre of the region. The winner of the main tournament, which is essentially a marathon across the region, is determined by the kin'toni who crosses the line first

Military

The Uraken clan's military often referred to within the clan as the Uruiastuak, is a government-controlled military that makes up virtually all of the kin'toni in the Uraken population, save for perhaps a couple hundred of them. The Uruiastuak operates on a late-night basis, operating between the midnight hours and roughly a couple of hours before dawn, and it is controlled by various leaders within the clan's military- and religion-controlled government who typically appoint several overseers, who are referred to as Uiorazas, to watch over the Uraken kin'toni soldiers and lead in nightly exercises and typical military activities.

Thus, the military and religious leaders control the government, and the government controls the military. Many of the Uraken clan's military activities involve a serious amount of aerobics and cardio, so when exercising together they try to build muscle in many of their body parts in an attempt to increase their stamina; therefore, their exercises are a general overnight routine that they typically perform as a cohesive unit, but outside of military hours each individual kin'toni will be required to keep oneself in top physical shape in order to keep up the pace. Because of this, special vegetables are recommended for daily intake just before going to sleep.

And when taken before sleep energy levels are said to be higher in a Uraken kin'toni just after waking up, and as a result, a Uraken kin'toni continues to feel that same level of energy throughout the night. When the kin'toni wakes up and is fully transformed, a special ceremony is performed in that kin'toni's honor to commemorate one's own complete kin'tonian transformation, and it is also during this ceremony that the transformed kin'toni becomes a member of the Uruiastuak, where the transformed kin'toni is then taught all of the things in life that one needs to learn in order to survive. Almost every Uraken kin'toni goes through this phase after being turned.

They are then subject to a completely different lifestyle, one of common sense and logic. Like in other clans, to get kicked out of the Uruiastuak is a lot like getting exiled, for once you get kicked out of the Uruiastuak you cannot rejoin it for another year, which is essentially a great deal of time to a kin'toni belonging to the Uraken clan. In order for one to become exiled from the clan's military one would have had to commit an atrocious act against one's own fellow soldiers or fellow leaders, especially if a great deal of corruption is involved. The punishment may vary depending on how severe or minor the crime is, but if the crime is big enough one could potentially be exiled from the Uraken clan and forced to live in another region

Religion

Religiously speaking, the Uraken kin'toni clan's way of life is a unique blend of a military, religious, and casual lifestyle, and because of that, their spirituality serves as a motivator for their military exercises as well as their church services and masses, all of which take place in two adjacent and large caverns. During religious mass, a spiritual guide will light the candles on the ground to allow light to enter the cave while a second spiritual guide leads the clan in prayer and worship; however, during normal church services, their praise and worship are done completely in the dark before the candles are lit to begin the sermon.

Spiritual guides and religious leaders of the clan are determined by their choice of faith and religious allegiance, and in order to become a spiritual guide or leader one must be skilled in translating an ancient book of religious writ known as the Zuzuroer, as well as giving one's own distinct thoughts pertaining to certain passages within this book. Wannabe religious and spiritual leaders will be asked to recite several verses within this book, as well as a brief and insight-driven narration on why these verses are important to the Uraken clan, and if the feedback is good enough, one can become a spiritual guide or religious leader in no time.

It is a regional law within the Uraken kin'toni community that all Uraken kin'toni pray just after waking up from a daylong slumber; the mentioning of such a law was first given in a speech by one of the Uraken kin'toni religious leaders back in the year 4E 20422, and thus the Uraken clan leaders agreed upon making such a request law within the clan. Some forget to pray after waking up, but when one forgets it's always important to right the wrong and goes back inside one's own cave to pray beside one's own bunker secretly, which essentially rights the wrong. Once a kin'toni is caught refusing to pray after waking up will be reprimanded and subsequently punished briefly.

Generally speaking, the unification of church and state is critical in the Uraken clan's survival, especially when one considers how the clan itself have depended mostly on their own religion for the last five thousand years, possibly longer. One can also say that the Uraken clan's religious spirituality is a part of their culture, and yet the spiritual cultivation of the clan's view of society has made some of their remaining allies quite intrigued by such a thing. In the past, however, some kin'toni from other clans have travelled to the Uraken clan's region to study the clan's religious activities silently, often observing their prayers
