History

Migrating into the Tair Hilly Plains were a small group of nomadic wanderers who were in search of a home, one that would be far away from the life that was normally found in Taerel, where there was the hustle and bustle of globalisation, trading, wars, conflicts, natural disasters, and many other events. They moved aimlessly, feeding off any animal they could find roaming the plains. However, the endless expanse of rolling hills and flatlands paired with the boundless hunger that comes from their affliction soon caused the groups minds to slowly wear down, so much so that only a few were left sane and then a divide occurred.

With many being left behind during these travels due to the fact that those who were not insane felt as though they would be held back and that their minds would also shatter; this group of rational, sound people became the formal Llien Zu’aan Tribe. As for those who were still a part of the Llien Zu’aan Tribe but had had their minds shattered beyond repair, a leader emerged from them who went by the name of Nantuu, and he became well-known for having visions of a face in the clouds, and after a storm one night that raged in an almost supernatural nature, he spoke out, saying that this squall was a sign from a figure named the ‘Sky Gazer’.

As a result of this, Nantuu declared himself divine ruler and managed to convince many others that he was correct and righteous, but like in most cases, those who claimed to be prophetic would always have to face doubts, and therefore Nantuu only had one goal in mind: he desired to expand the number of believers in the Sky Gazer, for it was perceived that They were the true deity. Due to this, many converted to the newfound cult that had been ingrained into the deepest recesses of most of the members’ minds, and very soon the group grew in strength and power as well as numbers.

So much so that they required acknowledgement by the sane members of the Llien Zu’aan Tribe, who had managed to set up a few small settlements and build a civilisation for themselves, with their own government and constitution. However, instead of accepting the belief in the ‘Sky Gazer’ as a religion, this government called Nantuu and his group ‘fanatics’ as well as described them as ‘delusional.’ The result of this was the kindling of hatred, and a determination for the cult to wage war and try to claim the Tair Hilly Plains, making it a new home for all believers where they would have the freedom to worship.

Yet, due to the more organised nature of the formal Llien Zu’aan Tribe, the attacks of the cult were responded to, and the majority of the members were killed, although many claimed that Nantuu still roams in hopes of getting revenge. Whilst the main threat is gone, the region to this day still suffers from the assaults of fanatics and neo cult members on the Llein Zu’aan Tribe.

Psychology

Arguably, one of the most noticeable factors about the Llein Zu’aan Tribe has been the split in their mental state throughout its history. Originally, it can be seen how there were some of the travellers whose minds had been shattered beyond repair, as the seemingly endless plains and aimless wandering guided only by their endless hunger as well as the desire for a place to settle slowly eroded their minds. On the other hand, there were those who tended to be more strong-minded and capable individuals, who kept their sanity and therefore went on to form the more mentally sound formal Llien Zu’aan Tribe.

Relating to those whose minds were shattered beyond repair, they would tend to have many hallucinations as a result of this and be lost in their delusions, with no choice but to submit to madness and a distorted sense of perception; this was the way through which Nantuu witnessed the ‘Sky Gazer’ and his mind managed to reach such a state that he felt he could made himself a religious leader. It can also be noted how due to this frail state of mind many of the delusional people would easily follow an ideology if inspired by it, which is what enabled Nantuu to become so dominant and known as well as influential.

Furthermore, many were still able to function fairly normally despite being in this state, only suffering from occasional episodes of mania which would subside after long periods of time. As for the saner members of the travellers, they went on to settle down in the Tair Hilly Plains and then form the Llien Zu’aan Tribe, for they felt that the region was the place they had been hunting for – a place in Taerel that was distant from the hustle and bustle of globalisation, trading, wars, conflicts, natural disasters, and many other events.

With a newfound sense of purpose, they went to work constructing a civilisation in the region and progressing to reach the levels of developed societies. Due to such determination, they were able to achieve their goal, and to this day have great qualities of life. It can be seen however how tensions have arisen between both factions, as shown by Nantuu’s attempts of holy war and his insane ideologies that were followed by fanatics being sealed away from formal civilisation by the government, who feared their beliefs as they displayed signs of mania.

These attempts meant that battles occurred where many of Nantuu’s troops would take their own lives due to the post-traumatic stress disorder from fighting, whilst the government armies were much stronger and capable as they had greater strength and power. However, there were still plenty of powerful troops in the opposition such as Nantuu himself and his closest men, who depended on religion and piety to be able to keep pushing on and waging war. Yet, Nantuu was still unsuccessful, and it is believed that he has fled, but his influence can be seen with some people becoming believers of the ‘Sky Gazer’ and committing attacks on the Llien Tribe Zu’aan.

Whilst it would be expected that the residents of the Tair Hilly Plains would be fearful, the majority live calm lives with a lack of concern due to the many protective measures that have been put in place against Nantuu, so even though there are still tensions the number of battles has died down.

Culture

Since the people were initially a group of nomadic wanderers, these travellers would need to find a way to pass the time and find pleasure and entertainment, with one of these methods being through sharing tales and lore around the campfire when they set up camp – due to this, the travellers tended to be very creative and imaginative people, with some even being skilled in acting as some small performances were held to bring life to these stories. Additionally, it was also common to sing whilst travelling, since it defeated the deafening silence that would be present when journeying that was only disturbed by the sounds of movement and nature.

Yet, despite all these measures, many still became delusional, and the divide of the group occurred. In relation to those who became insane, they tended to live most of their lives in an unorderly manner with a lack of discipline or structure and routine to their lives; instead, it was more common for them to embrace their hallucinations and let them play out, and once sanity returned to go into a deep slumber to recover energy as well as wake up in a way from the confused, manic state they would have been in before. To express what they saw, many of these people would make art on the walls of the caves that they would temporarily reside in.

(since this faction tended to move from place to place in the Tair Hilly Plains rather than settle down); these images that were created tended to be made in very sporadic and strange manners which tended to not have any beauty or attractiveness or even exquisiteness, but rather be very expressive, showing an explosion of emotions in a way that only someone whose mind had been shattered could possibly interpret – most of these would use dark, gloomy colours to represent solemn tones and negative, depressing themes.

As for the Llien Zu’aan Tribe, they had chosen to be more progressive and construct a civilisation within the Tair Hilly Plains, which would have proper housing that was often made using wood incorporated with stone for additional durability and strength. Additionally, there were also many other buildings such as shops, markets, blacksmiths and much more that would be built within the settlements, all of which were intended to show how the people were determined to make a new home that would be similar to the many regions they had passed during their travels.

Libraries were another common building that could be found due to the fact that the idea of storytelling was preserved, but this time the Llien tribe felt that it would be best to have these tales written down so that they would never be lost; theatres were another popular sight where performances would occur – these would usually be outdoors with a simple stage which the audience stand around to spectate. Whilst it may seem like the Llien Zu’aan Tribe will become a place full of hustle and bustle (something the initial wanderers did not desire), this seems unlikely as the government have not chosen to contact foreign nations much and keep everything within the region very local.

Government

At first, the group of nomadic wanderers were led by certain individuals who had been chosen to lead them in search of the home they desired, which would be far away from the tumult of life in Taerel, where they could live peacefully, embracing their existence and gaining more of an appreciation for it. Yet, many ended up reaching a state of insanity due to desperation and anguish, and this was what caused such a divide into the group, with the frenetic, delusional people being left behind whilst those who were saner went on their way through the Tair Hilly Plains.

It can be noted that the group of insane people were unable to form a formal government due to their affliction and hence wandered aimlessly through the Tair Hilly Plains, with nothing to do except suffering in their delusions. Then there came the incident of Nantuu’s hallucinations causing him to perceive that he had been anointed as a religious leader by the Sky Gazer with one goal in mind: this was to revive the faith in this deity. He then set out to travel across the land and spread his ideologies and beliefs.

But in most cases, was very lazy due to suffering exhaustion from experiencing many illusions where he would envision himself in the clouds, unable to see the ground and only hearing the commanding voice of the Sky Gazer. Whilst many were reluctant to join him at first, the numbers of worshippers soon grew into a fanatical cult, who not just held their own meetings and prayer services, but also made many plots and orders which Nantuu would give, claiming that they came from the Sky Gazer as commands for the next course of action – the Skybounders – should take.

Soon, the cult reached numbers which made the inhabitants confident enough to go ahead and try to claim the Tair Hilly Plains for themselves, but they were only unsuccessful in doing so and now the clan has been almost exterminated, except for a few members hiding in secret away from the Llien Zu’aan Tribe, with Nantuu possibly being amongst them. As for the other faction, the Llien Zu’aan Tribe was led by a government of people who had been elected by the people so that one goal could be achieved – to construct the new civilisation that the travellers had desired for so long.

Whilst there may have been fear at first due to such changes, this seemed to work out better for the people since it provided them with a better life than the ones that the cult had to experience, for all members of the Llien Zu’aan Tribe (a fairly small community) were able to have access to food and drink as well as shelter, with plenty of freedoms such as the ability to express their views and opinions on certain matters and also practise their faiths freely. This was all true until the cult had tried to spread their ideologies and make the belief in the Sky Gazer a legitimate faith, but the government opposed this and said that what Nantuu had spread was only delusions.

Even though this did not seem to affect many of the Llien Zu’aan Tribe at first, this decision was the catalyst that led to the cult becoming more aggressive and trying to take over the Tair Hilly Plains, removing the formal rulers within it. However, the cult was unsuccessful and to this day the Llien Zu’aan Tribe is still in power with its own government and elected leaders.

Military

The Tair Hilly Plains has faced plenty of conflicts since its occupation by nomadic travellers, often due to religion and the beliefs of the cult called ‘the Skybounders.’ This group consisted of many fanatics who were led by a man called Nantuu, who had been in a state of delusion and mania, claiming to have seen a holy figure called the ‘Sky Gazer’ who had ascended him into the clouds, telling him what he must do to revive the faith and make it once again powerful and prosperous. With a newfound sense of purpose, he grew the number of members of the cult and then made sure that they were trained in combat so that they were prepared and capable for his next plan of action.

A battle to claim the Tair Hilly Plains for the Skybounders and make it so that the faith that worshipped the Sky Gazer was revived. However, this would not be so easy as the formal Llien Zu’aan Tribe had their own armed forces, who wore a charcoal grey uniform and caps on their heads which had an insignia to show that they were a part of the forces from the Tair Hilly Plains. Additionally, they would also be trained heavily and well-disciplined, skilled in many aspects ranging from survival skills to fighting, such as their wide knowledge of wielding swords and other sharp weaponry as well as their proficiency in hand-to-hand combat.

And even in some cases, they would be good at ranged battling such as by using bows and slingshots. In relation to their weaponry, they would tend to have a wide array of options such as deadly daggers, razor-sharp knives, ruthless axes, powerful hammers, sharp swords, pointy spears, and much more. Additionally, to be a part of these units, it required plenty of preparation for testing and examination which occurs at camps where applicants could go and say that they want to be part of the army. They then stay at these camps for a few weeks to see if they are capable of such rigorous lifestyles, and if they can then they can become an officer.

Both of these forces have been fighting against each other for many years, with Nantuu and his cult making many attempts to invade the civilisation of the Llien Zu’aan Tribe and conquer it so that the faith can be spread. Yet, these forces who donned sky-blue clothing with white parts to their uniform could not penetrate into the settlements of the Llein people, for the armed forces were able to keep them out with ease. Soon, the military forces of the Llein people were instructed to bring down the cult completely and to annihilate them, which they almost did by exterminating many members, only to have some also escape, with some claiming that Nantuu is amongst them.

To this day, the cult still poses a threat with some extremists continuing to attack the region, but due to having such a strong military the Llien Zu’aan Tribe are relatively safe and do not need to live in fear.

Religion

Originating from a group of nomadic wanderers, most of the travellers would believe in deities such as Ydall the Traveller God, Nuol the God of Nomads, Veva the Goddess of Voyages, and many more depending on their place of origin; since they were travelling a lot, they believed that having faith would provide them with safety as well as success in their journeys. To call upon these deities, it was very common to have charms or small idols that they could pack into their bags, and then take out and place on a surface to form a sort of shrine.

Furthermore, the reading of holy scriptures and the singing of songs as well as group chanting were popular methods of worship, since they gave the travellers something to do after setting up camp. It can also be noted how it was common to commemorate lunar and solar deities, with their justification for this being the fact that many travellers depended upon them during their journeys, and hence felt a need to be appreciative and thankful, in hopes of being blessed and rewarded. As insanity became more and more common amongst these nomadic wanderers, many hallucinations occurred which caused a wide range of beliefs.

But the majority of them were personal and simply for an individual person so would die away. However, there were some exceptions such as the case of Nantuu, who claimed to have seen a figure called the ‘Sky Gazer’ and therefore chose to make himself a religious leader, believing he had been appointed as a sort of prophet. Many opposed this with large portions of the population seeing him as a madman and maniac, spreading his delusions across the Tair Hilly Plains; yet there was still that minority who saw an opportunity, and chose to join him.

As a result of this, a cult that went by the name of “the Skybounders” was formed, with their ideologies stemming from visions that Nantuu claimed to have. Within these visions, Nantuu claimed that he would be transported to the clouds where he would hover there and hear the voice of the Sky Gazer, but since Nantuu was only a zu’aan, his body would not be able to handle the presence of such divinity and hence he was only allowed to listen to the voice that delivered instructions. As the numbers grew, the members of the formal Llien Zu’aan Tribe – who tended to not be very religious or stuck to their old beliefs as travellers.

Realised that this new faith was starting to become influential, but still chose with defiance to not accept it as legitimate. And the impact of such a choice can be seen from how Nantuu managed to form armies to battle the Llien Zu’aan Tribe, claiming that it was a holy war to defeat the heretics and enable the cult to have religious freedom. During this time, it was very common for the cult members to hold prayers where they asked for strength and power as well as the ability to destroy their enemies, and in many cases, sigils can be observed which were intended to provide protection from evil and corruption, especially during battle.

However, this can all be seen to be ineffective as the Llien Zu’aan Tribe defeated many members of the cult and became the authority, dominant over the Tair Hilly Plains. Yet, there is still some religious influence from the cult, with many members still operating in secret and the possibility of Nantuu being alive, hiding away in the Tair Hilly Plains.
