Geography

Imord Temperate Plains is a slightly hilly region that contains some small rises. All hills and land in the region is covered in short, yellow grass which is native to the region. One can see for miles in all directions when standing on one of the grassy rises in Imord. There are not many trees or other such things to obscure the view. The ruined city of Kamalania stands in the centre of the region and is very noticeable for miles on either side of it. Kamalania was once a proud and powerful city state of the Kamalan zu’aan Empire. After the cities fall it was sacked and left mostly in a state of disrepair.

The outer walls have been almost completely demolished and only small sections of it remain intact. The rest of the wall is now mostly piles of white bricks covered in dust and cobwebs. The buildings on the outside of the city have mostly rotted away. Many of their roofs have caved in and almost all the windows have been smashed. All valuables and other belongings have been stripped from these buildings. Towards the centre of the ruined city the buildings become less and less damaged and look more and more inhabitable. This is because they are in fact inhabitable.

The local Neerver-orm kin’toni clan live in this central section of the city where the houses are far more luxurious and less damaged. The outer buildings state of despair is used to cover up the fact that beyond them some of the city is actually still intact. The Neerver-orm have also stripped the valuables from the outer buildings so no scavengers attempt to come into their territory. Most travellers or war parties moving through the region believe that the city of Kamalania is abandoned and empty of anything valuable, and do not bother to investigate it.

The Neerver-orm have hidden in plain sight for many years, only allow select individuals the information of their whereabouts. These people are usually special traders or friends of the clan who assist them with finding blood to feed on or other necessities. So far, the Neerver-orm have been able to live off of scraps and remain hidden in their sanctuary within Kamalania. The centre of Kamalania contains the largest building in the city. This building was once a massive cathedral built in honour of the gods the local zu’aan worshiped.

Now most of its towers lie in ruins and the roof is full of holes. Beneath the cathedral however, there is an underground section that was mostly unused by the priests who used to own it. This area is main common room that all the Neerver-orm kin’toni come to meet up. If the city ever becomes compromised the Neerver-orm can hide in this underground section until the danger passes through. This hidden section has only one entrance which is hidden below the raised stage floor in the main area of the cathedral. This spot has proved to be crucial in the Neerver-orm’s survival over the years.

Plants

The plant life in Imord Temperate Plains is mostly basic and primitive. The plants in the region have had little reason to evolve or adapt as the conditions in Imord have never really changed. The most common plant is the unique yellow grass that can be found almost everywhere throughout the region.

Imord Yellow Grass

Imord yellow grass is a species of grass that is native and unique to Imord Temperate Plains. This grass is only found in this region because it cannot survive in other climates. The grass spreads extremely fast but needs plenty of rainfall but also a lot of sun. If it tries to spread to an area where there is too much or too little of either of the things it is incapable of growing. Imord yellow grass grows in singular stems from the ground. A group of roots can grow up to twenty stems, but each stem grows independent of the others near it.

Young stems are coloured a much brighter yellow than the older stems. As they become older the sun bleaches them to a far duller shade of yellow. This grass is not very nutritious for zu’aan or the local wildlife and mostly does not a lot. The grass earnt the region is plains name by covering almost every available surface, including inside Kamalania.

Juna

Juna is a species of flowering plant that is native and unique to Imord Temperate Plains. These plants are short and stout and generally grow in the shape of a mushroom. They have yellow leaves and grow beautiful blue flowers. These flowers are most well known for their sweet scent and three petal shape. Juna plants are very common in Imord and grow almost anywhere. They do not need to grow in specific places such as near rivers because their survival needs are very modest. These plants are not very large and usually only reach the size of a wheel.

Kamalian Toadstool

Kamalian toadstools are a species of mushroom native and unique to Imord Temperate Plains. These mushrooms are dormant during the day and sink into the ground where their roots are found. Their roots generally form a circular area within a section of grass, this turns the dirt white. The white root section sprouts small stems which eventually fold out into small mushrooms. They only do this at night however, as the actual mushrooms themselves are very sensitive to sunlight. The patches of roots can reach massive sizes if left unattended.

The largest known patches of Kamalian Toadstools have been known to stretch for hundreds of metres. The roots do not affect the growth of the Imord Yellow Grass around them, which often helps to camouflage them. The mushrooms themselves are cone shaped and a spotted with shiny turquoise dots that reflect any light that is shone on during the night hours. The local Neerver-orm kin’toni clan grow these mushrooms in their underground hideout so they can use them. When eaten the Kamalian Toadstools can sooth pain and aches in the body, and thus the Neerver-orm find them very useful.

Animals

The wildlife in Imord Temperate Plains are very timid creatures that mostly avoid contact with kin’toni and zu’aan. There are some predators however that tend to do the opposite. The region has plenty of rain and water to sustain most creatures thirst as well as lots of grass for herbivores. The land is very difficult to hide in however, and most creatures here have found new clever ways to disguise themselves.

Druiga

Druiga are a species of small mammal that are native and unique to Imord Temperate Plains. These animals usually grow no larger than a small dog and live in burrows during the day. Their bodies are covered in a thin layer of light brown fur. Their heads are round and plump and are covered in the same fur as their bodies except for their large noses which are covered in black skin. Druiga use their highly sensitive noses to smell out insects and worms that are living in the ground. They dig them up during the night-time and consume their collected food during the day.

Each Druiga seeks to find a mating partner, and once they meet one, they live together in their burrow for life. These creatures are sometimes eaten by the local Neerver-orm kin’toni clan when they are low on zu’aan blood.

Kitona

Kitona are a species of parasite that are unique and native to Imord Temperate Plains. These parasites are tiny orange blobs that latch onto passing animals and kin’toni. Kitona are very sticky and can morph their bodies into any shape to best suit their circumstances. Inside their soft, sticky outer gel layer, is their mouthpiece. Their mouthpiece can protrude from the outer gel layer and dig through the skin of the host. Kitona live off of the blood of other animals and kin’toni and cannot be crushed or squashed. Their bodies can resist all kinds of trauma, and they can heal most damage easily. The local Neerver-orm kin’toni clan has discovered that the best way to exterminate these parasites is to burn them.

Sheerkanh

Sheerkanh are a species of apex predator that are native and unique to Imord Temperate Plains. These predators are massive insects that run on six long legs. The front two legs are lined with spikes and their ends have large hook shaped blades. The rest of the legs are pointed and triple jointed as to allow the sheerkanh to sprint at incredible speeds. The front legs are used to stab or trap prey, one ensnared in the hooks it is very difficult to gain freedom. Their heads are wide and oval shaped, each with four mounted eyes. Their jaws are not particularly dangerous and are only useful for eating prey that has already been decimated by the sheerkanh’s talons.

Their bodies are thin and sleek and lined with glistening black armour plates on all sides. The species numbers are quite low due to their slow breeding process. Sheerkanh only breed once every five years and give birth to only one young. This young often does not survive five years.
