History

This group was founded by Sucellaulis Phigonjax and lives in the Hruntinel Mountains region. The Hruntindel Mountains are a range of mountains that communicates many regions by mountain passes. Those paths are the only way to go from a place to another in the other side of the mountains. Before the kin'toni outbreak, Hruntindel Mountains was an interesting tourism destination due the natural and cultural points to visit. After the kin'toni outbreak, the tourism stopped and the anarchy took place, there was a kind of civil war between residents and foreigners, the conflict became worse when kin'toni arrived and there was a battle of all against all. When all the groups had several losses.

A new group of armed teenagers and children guided by a mysterious man arrived to defeat one by one all the other groups and take control of the zone, they became more numerous and stronger until erasing any other group. The mysterious man leading the group was a kin'toni named Sucellaulis Phigonjax. He used to be an accountant that was attacked by a kin'toni, he turned savage as usual after the transformation, and however, he recovered lucidity faster than more of new kin'toni. The army was better prepared in the zone he belonged to, which forced him to flee and wander in search of more prey. Sucellaullis Phigonjax went deep into the forest to lose the trace of soldiers, he found a large building that seemed to be a foster home.

Inside there were 300 teenagers and children dying of starvation, that nobody wanted to care for, they were left with the doors closed and abandoned, trapped without a way to get out. Sucellaullis Phigonjax hunted wild animals to feed them, he set them free, gave them instructions, and guided them as an army. The children were grateful to him and followed him with the promise of a better life and take revenge for being abandoned. They didn´t know his leader was a kin'toni, however, they would not mind either. Despite children are weak the army of Sucellaullis Phigonjax became fearsome, they used to attack during the night, with ambushes, traps, and false retreats. They lived assaulting every traveler and looting any place they got during some years.

With a consolidated power, their leader Sucellaullis Phigonjax funded the city of Geirdrane, which is the center of different smaller towns along Hruntindel Mountains, then decided to change the way of life of their followers, gave him knowledge about trade and crafting, his plan was to make Geirdrane a powerful city by commerce. Geirdrane City´s most important activity is the trade, there are some factories too. The city gets all the resources they need by trade routes along all the mountains. Sucellaullis Phigonjax lived many years, with the past of time he decided it was impossible to keep the secret by himself and chosen worthy followers to turn them on kin'toni too.

Since the moment it was funded Geirdrane City has been ruled by a secret group of kin'toni, thanks to the intelligence of Sucellaullis Phigonjax they have laws and rules that help them to get food from prisoners, vagrants, criminals, and anybody who is unwanted, that way they don´t have to harm the population.

Culture

Geirdrane citizens live between mountains, they are accustomed to hard physical activity and days with short sunny time. They don´t care there are dark areas in the city, they like it because that way the billboards of shops and stores, illuminated by torches, are easy to see. When children has four years old they are examined by a series of tests, these tests will decide if the child will be trained to fight or manufacture skills. Parents with money enough can choose their children don´t do the tests and keep in the family business. According to the test the children are sent to training camps or go daily to a school where they will practice their skills to become good workers.

Children sent to camps will be trained to obey, protect, watch and fight, the city has never enough guards, soldiers, or workers. After finish, the education course the young citizens receive a certify that proves their skill grade and is sent to the army or the factories according to the certify they got. Commerce is very important in Geirdrane, they like so much publicity, with big billboards, wide letters and nice illustrations of the products and services. During the night the facades of shops and stores are more brilliant than the street lights, which are few and are placed on main streets only. People in Geirdrane enjoy buying, they like to buy any kind of products even if they don´t need them.

Due to the peace and stability of the city, there is almost not hungry and people can buy things that they consider nice, pretty, funny, trendy, anything that amazes them enough to pay for it. Due to their consumer culture citizens produce a lot of garbage too, envelopes, used or broken products and things that they decided to get rid of them go to the massive dump carts that go through the city frequently, recollecting the garbage of the houses for a slow price, and take it to a deposit of waste, where a part goes to materials, other part goes to bargain shops and the remaining part goes to a garbage furnace. There are many factories in the city, where the workers produce by hand the products that will go to stores and will be sent to other zu'aan cities by trade routes.

There are many kinds of factories to make tools, clothes, preserved food, cosmetics, furniture, and toys. There are also many transporters with wooden carts to bring materials, products, waste and tools from a part to another. There are some libraries where it´s possible to read many kinds of books, most of them bought from other zu'aan placements, there are a few book stores were citizens can buy reproductions or novels. Most of the population can read, however, there are many travelers that can´t read so many of the billboards are made withdraws, there are schools to learn to draw, besides dance schools and music academies. Shops and stores are always looking for illustrators to make drawings on their billboards, the illustrators also can get jobs making art pieces and pamphlets.

Government

Since Sucellaulis Phigonjax funded the city of Geirdrane he had the intention to make a prosperous place to have an easy and wealthy life, he knew the trade potential of the mountain passes and the chance he had to make a commercial city. Before he turned into a kin'toni he was an accountant, the life as a predator was uncomfortable to him, and felt his skill with numbers was being wasted. He got sure of being awarded the respect and loyalty of the children he rescued from die starving, however, he knew they would grow up and one day they could rebel if they knew he was a kin'toni. Sucellaulis Phigonjax worked faster to build a commercial empire, he had to protect his followers some routes until finish ward houses and fight within them during the cleansing of turf.

Get preys was easy during days of battles, he made strict laws and ordered the build of prisons with specific blueprints to eat from the convicts without being discovered by using secret passages possible to use by kin'toni skills only. Many parts of the city are built to be comfortable on secret for kin'toni during the night, the dark spots lure burglars and thieves, which become on food for kin'toni once they are arrested. The city hall has public access, the real hall is below, where kin'toni rule and control the city in a secret. They used to be special zu'aan executives transformed by the followers of Sucellaulis Phigonjax, since it was getting hard to rule a commercial empire alone he turned his more loyal followers on kin'toni too.

Sucellaulis Phigonjax died at 200 years old, too old to keep living, he couldn´t see the best moments of the ordered empire he built. In the hall there are meetings of the kin'toni who direct every important aspect of the city, the General of the Army, the hospital director, the police department chief, bosses of factories, commercial inspectors, trainers of some guilds and chief engineers. Geirdrane City is a prosperous place with many shops and stores where life is easy and there are peace at cost of many laws and rules to send people to the jail and feed the kin'toni governors. Some convicts are lucky if they are caged for just two weeks, if they escape from the predators during that time they can get out alive.

The city hall has different offices, the more important are the tax office, the trade license office, and the bounty license office. The tax office collect money from the shop owners, a shop owner that don´t pay can be sent to jail. The trade license office gives licenses to merchants who want to sell in the city or along with the Hruntindel Mountains territory. The bounty license office gives licenses to bounty hunters, sometimes the office post requests that bounty hunters can take and when it´s done they can get a reward, posting requests have a cost that few people can pay so they post request for important problems only. Any people spotted without a license can be arrested unless they pay a fee at that moment, however the fee is too high so they can´t pay it and be send to jail.

Military

Despite Geirdrane City is an important commercial center it needs to keep the power of the weapons too. They have the main army that is leaded by a kin'toni General, the general leads the forces and also he has an elite of kin'toni commandos transformed by himself. The kin'toni commando elite is sending to the field when the army has many loses, also to deal against other kin'toni, since Geirdrane kin'toni don´t share and wouldn´t risk losing the order they built. In the beginning of the city the army was a group of armed teenagers, the tradition remained from then, choosing strong children to train them on camps and turn them on disciplined soldiers. Some of those children are orphans, others are offspring from adult soldiers.

They train and fight within the adult soldiers, they go to the battlefield, fight and die as the other soldiers do. Half of the army training is to climb and scout the mountains, they must know and memorize each route to have environment advantage and know the faster way from a point to other, the possible retreat ways, and the hideouts for fleeing enemies. They must train their breath, with proper breath and strong lungs soldiers can move better on the mountains. Once they became adults the new soldiers can choose to keep being soldiers, become guards or bounty hunters. The soldiers have standard equipment of helmet, short sword, and small shield, they also have a kind of boot that they call grabs, with those shoes they can move easier on hard rugged ground.

Due to their training, they focus on the numbers and support allies to defeat the enemy with minimal losses. The forces are divided into light units, heavy units, and support units. Light units have small weapons like short swords, spears and axes; heavy units have massive weapons as hammers, halberds, and long swords; support units have large shields, bows, and slingshots. There is also a medic brigade that brings medic equipment to heal the wounded, they have stretchers to take out of the battlefield to the several injured and attend them before death. There are weapon trade routes with other zu'aan groups, however, Geirdrane City has its own weapons and equipment factories to make the weapons of the army with more quality than the cheap stuff.

There is a special factory to produce the grabs, which are made with leather, cloth, cotton, wooden, and tar in a secret process. There are no mines on Hruntindel Mountains, the factories get the materials to build weapons from several trade routes. Besides the army there are many stagecoaches to recruit new forces and many guilds to the warriors enter and upgrade combat abilities, allowing them to be more effective and reliable when fighting. Soldiers that became adults and want to leave the army can be recruited in the stagecoach, also foreign warriors that want a more civilized lifestyle without stop fighting. To reduce the casualties of Geirdrane soldiers the general can hire reinforcements from the stagecoaches, the surviving bounty hunters will get a reward.

Religion

Sucellaulis Phigonjax, as a kin'toni, had to convince their followers to accept things that could help him to have control without risk himself. He said to them darkness is an ally, an advantage, a shelter that will help them in the battle, this belief introduced to the Geirdrane citizens the darkness as a deity. Between the gods they adore there is the Darkness, a woman that protects them; the Mountain, a mother who gave them birth; the Fortune, a lady that will be generous with those who gain her favor; and the Wealth, a man that will fill the pockets of his worthy believers. These are the main deities, people in the city adore other gods according to their lifestyle.

In the guilds and training camps, they pray to the god of battle the strength to become on brave, strong warriors. Each guild prays to different legendary warriors that used to be normal soldiers, won many battles and they believe they became gods. They use to dedicate their victories to their gods and many times they place war trophies in the altars as a show of thanks. In the factories, workers use to pray to certain deities to be safe during their labor hours, free of accidents, have good skill, produce a lot of pieces, and be free of distractions. They prey on small altars at the entrance of the factories where they use to set small offerings to their gods.

Stores and shops have different deities of commerce and trade that they pray to have many sells and many customers, have a nice and comfortable environment and lure new people to their locals. Some of these places have their altars on a secret location, hidden from the customers sight due they think that´s disrespectful to let anyone see it. All citizens have different thoughts about it, they share the belief there is a place after their life where they will be happy forever if they had a good behavior and a responsible life. They don´t believe in punishment after life, however, all of them believe poverty and unemployment are punishes from the gods to people who are lazy and irresponsible.

Geirdrane has stores that sell images and effigies of all the different deities where every citizen can find the god or goddess is looking to have on their personal altar; they even have images of the main deities of other zu'aan emplacements which habitants use to visit the city. These stores also sell amulets, books, posters and special offerings to the deities. There are special dates where each deity has a celebration party of faith and devotion by their believers, citizens use to spend a lot on these parties although they live with modest the rest of the year. The funder, Sucellaulis Phigonjax, was atheist. His only god used to be richness; his way of thinking motivated him to build the trade city.

Indirectly his belief is shared for all the citizens, which are always looking to get wealthier. The kin'toni that rule the city believe in the same deities as their citizens.

Miscellany

Geirdrane city has a high rate of crime, however it don´t increases due the convicts don´t use to survive many time on jail before becoming food for kin'toni. Since Geirdrane citizens believe in the darkness as a deity they believe it is good luck to have a spot always dark in the house. There is no land to crops in mountains, the agriculture job is focus on sowing new trees and harvesting mushrooms. Due their culture of preserve dark spots the city saves much fuels for fire. The exclusive predator in Hruntindel Mountains is the ormut, a bear like creature of fifteen feet long and two thousand pounds weight. Geirdrane citizens don´t use to hunt it because ormut don´t trespass zu'aan areas and they think it´s better to have them in the forests to avoid enemy emplacements or surprise attacks.

When ormuts attack or hunt in mountain passes they consider it as punishment for make something that made angry the god ormut.
