History

The name of the Falling clan carries significant weight not only in the lands of the Ashat kingdom but also in the other kin'toni nations of the world. The Falang kin'toni clan is not only one of the founding members of the pioneer clans’ council, which happens to be the supreme governing body of one of the most powerful kin'toni nations in the world, but the Falang clan is also considered to be in charge of the Jau Jungle Hills, which certainly is the most important site in the history of the kin'toni.

The Falang clan traces its lineage very closely to the original group of kin'toni that were born at the zu'aan laboratories found in the Jau Jungle Hills They weren’t always an important clan, initially the clan adopted the role of scribes, in times when the need of the hour had been blood and fire, the Falang chose to pursue the arts of Pen and paper. Needless to say that their choice of profession and specialisation at the time was criticised and the clan was written off as being unimportant and one that would certainly pass into oblivion or be absorbed by a more powerful clan.

Contrary to the view of the dominant clans at the time, the Falang kin'toni persevered, and when the kin'toni folk began to become truly abundant, the skills of the warriors and fighters were found to be lacking. Although exemplary leaders, the warrior clans that had led the armies of the kin'toni against the horde of the zu'aan cities were limited by the centuries of war they had conducted. Their bodies and brains had adapted due to the innate nature of the kin'toni, so much so that the kin'toni had reached a stage at which they could no longer function as regular citizens.

Out of the chaos of the battlefield, they felt incomplete and ineffective and inevitably found themselves inciting the situation around them to try and precipitate violence. This kind of ability and skill had certainly been a great help when they were controlling warriors and hot headed soldiers, but for civil kin'toni the war lords had become an eye sore. The discontent that began to boil the kin'toni society led to the splitting of the kin'toni armies and people, and led to the birth of several different nations.

And it is theorised that the emotions that had been planted by the war lords during their rule certainly were a leading cause of the Shattering as well. The Falang clan was able to rise the occasion and propose models of governance that the civilian population understood and could relate to as well, and eventually the Falang were able to unseat the warrior clans and claim the position of ruler. This is not truly a unique tale, especially in the region of Ashat whose pioneer clans’ council is predominantly made up on civilian clans that were not considered to be extremely active members of the armies of the kin'toni that led to the conversion and liberation of land.

Psychology

The Falang clan is made up of some of the most clever and intelligent kin'toni in the world, the initiates that seek a place in the ranks of the Falang are put through a rigorous century of tuition and arduous exams. The proportion of the kin'toni that make it through the whole century of education and examination is less than one percent. The Falang kin'toni pride themselves for their mental capability, they practice the performance of complex arithmetic operations in their heads without the use of aids, speak several languages and are expert communicators.

The pioneer clans are all different in that they are responsible for different aspects of the nation, although they seek each others council in all essential things, the individual kin'toni clans are also responsible for specific subjects that relate to the administration of the nation. In this way, the Falang are considered to be the mouthpiece of the council, in that they are required to form the crucial link of communication between the government and civil society and thereby ensure that the citizens are aware of the intentions and concrete plans of the authorities.

In addition, the Falang are also expected to communicate the demands and the needs of the citizens of Ashat to the council, and thereby ensure that there is no communication gap between the government and governed. The Falang therefore can be accurately described as excellent listeners and very deliberate and methodical speakers, and although the kin'toni’ public communications are firmly rooted in logic and reason, they have become increasingly good at appealing to the deeper emotions of the population.

The kin'toni of the Falang clan therefore spend a large amount of time not only learning about the intricacies of the spoken word but also the skills of a good orator. The voice of the Falang can be heard from miles away, and the timbre of their voice seems the resonate deep in the chest of the listeners. This gifted voice of the Falang clan, in addition to their learned words are excellent tools for the governance of the Ashat nation. In order to ensure that there is a good reach of the link between the government and the citizens.

The Falang kin'toni are posted throughout the nation in order to allow them the opportunity to maintain contact with the far reaches of the kin'toni population and not just the ones that are based in their governed domain. It would not be wrong to connect the excellent skill with which the kin'toni have been carrying out their assigned task and the deep loyalty that most of the kin'toni of the Ashat nation bear for their leaders. The Falang can be thought as the adhesive that has continued to bind and hold tight the disparate clans of the Ashat nation.

Perhaps if the Falang had not been responsible for keeping the kin'toni clans informed of the intentions of their government, the nation would have split at the seams and the different clans would have claimed their own rule.

Biology

The Falang have evolved to be one of the most intelligent kinds of kin'toni, and their biology has significantly altered to help them better perform the role they have take on. It is possible to chart out a pattern in the development of their biology, as initially the process that had been responsible for allowing them to continue to outpace their peers in the matters of the brain, had also meant that their body had been drawing away from the features of fighting kin'toni.

This development was interesting and widely regarded as a deeper look into the whole physiology of kin'toni kind and not just the Falang. This was because as the Falang kin'toni refrained from an strenuous physical activity and instead continued rigorous mental exercises, their bodies had begun to shift their body away from the kind of body and muscles that is seen in the typical kin'toni. Instead of having muscular and stout limbs with grips of iron, the Falang’s limbs began to thin and their muscles seemed to start dissolving into their bodies.

Their neck bones changed shape so as to allow for the kin'toni to have an easier time reading the numerous books that they were known to consume on a daily basis. The effect was most remarkable, the shrinking musculature was accompanied with an enlarging of not only the eyes but also the overall size of the head to probably make room for a larger brain. Kin'toni kind was affected by this transition in the Falang kin'toni because it seemed to defy a basic characteristic of the whole kin'toni kind.

This is the assumption that the kin'toni were essentially built to be super soldiers by the zu'aan and were meant to adapt in a way that would allow them to conduct the most capable warrior within their environment. Everyone understood this and seemed to believe that even though a kin'toni could take any role that they wished to, but at their core or at least in terms of biology they would always remain warriors. This perception was severely defeated by the changes that took place in the Falang clan, at the time they had newly assembled the pioneer clans’ council and Ashat nation was yet a toddler.

The changes that the Falang underwent was both a liberating event and at once one that destabilised the development of the Ashat nation. In theory, the development of the Falang away from features that dealt with war, meant that the kin'toni were able to see themselves as more than machinations of the zu'aan, and instead propelled the view that it was nature which had actually intervened in the creation of kin'toni kind. The conclusion that was finally adopted was that although kin'toni kind came to be due to a process that the zu'aan had deliberately begun.

The kin'toni were never what the zu'aan had imagined but rather a creation of nature that sought to free itself from the burden of zu'aan kind, and thus kin'toni could adapt their bodies to any role and not just that which dealt with war. They have dark blue irises with white sclera and vertical slit pupils.

Culture

The Falang have a rigorous training regimen, the kin'toni that successfully go through the training process are rewarded with a position in the clan during the festival that celebrates the festival of the founding of the kin'toni kind, at the foot of the faceless statues of the first kin'toni that ever walked the earth. The festival is a crucial stepping stone in the culture of the whole clan for not only does it serve as the life blood of the clan through which new, fresh and capable kin'toni are brought into the fold to try and improve the standing of the nation.

As explained in the previous section, the Falanag kin'toni have undergone drastic changes in their biology in order to become better at performing the functions they have chosen for themselves. Although the process and the end result was a culturally significant discovery that helped shape the whole viewpoint of the kin'toni about themselves and the role that they play against the zu'aan. It also led to a destabilisation of the political union that resulted into the formation of the Ashat nation.

The Falang kin'toni transformation had completely altered their appearance, at first the changes had been gradual, and little attention was paid to them, but soon the changes accelerated and the kin'toni over night seems to transform into creatures that could have walked out the nightmares of kin'toni kind. The Falang had essentially stopped looking like they were kin'toni and begun to appear nothing like zu'aan either, this development had begun to disquiet the kin'toni of Ashat.

The citizens of the nation seemed to be wary of the Falang for their alien appearance and this disquiet soon turned and became something a little more serious, and there were pockets of rebellion within the nation. Most of all the Galaka of the Tamor drylands were leading the calls for the ousting of the Falang from governance, and in some cases they made public demands for the lynching of the kin'toni as well. The appearance of the Falang had begun to unnerve people and the trust that the Falang had seemed to enjoy which had led them to the position of forming the Ashat nation was quickly evaporating.

The rest of the Pioneer council took charge and recalled the Falang clan kin'toni, and it is said that the Falang kin'toni were under the tutelage of some of the finest warriors during the period of withdrawal. The warrior kin'toni, bent and beat the Falang back into the shape of normal kin'toni, and basically forced their bodies to adapt to the rigours of warfare, in so doing the bodies of the Falang returned to their original conditions but they were still able to retain their mental prowess.

Due to this period of withdrawal and change, the Falang instituted changes in their method of operation, for the kin'toni are required to carry out just as much physical activity as mental activity. There are others that remark that not all the Falang kin'toni tried to revert to the normal kin'toni bodies, but some of them still retain their old bodies and lead the clan from the shadows.

Government

The Falang are an essential part of the government of the Ashat Nation, not only are they an active and powerful clan that is part of the Pioneer clans’ council but also one that has been entrusted with a severely important role. The role that they play within the council itself is of course something that the common populace does not have a very good understanding about since the dealings of the council are mostly kept secret and only the very highest levels of the government are entrusted with the details of the plans that the kin'toni of the council have set out as targets for the nation as a whole.

The unique tradition of the administration of the blood of the Sapien monkeys that have been fed on nothing but the strongest hallucinogens in the world, also ensures that the kin'toni of the council although isolated from the rest of the populace do not take any decisions that would be harmful for the average kin'toni of the Ashat nation. In so doing, the council has won the obedience and faith of the common kin'toni, a feat that cannot be ascribed to other nations’ ruling class.

This trust in the government can also be thought of as the dominant reason that the kin'toni have been able to find success in so many of their plans and machinations while other kin'toni kingdoms and nations have struggled. The Falang are certainly an equal claimant for the efficacy of rule that the council has been able to institute in the nation, in the daily administration of law and order, the Falang clan forms the supremely important link between the government and the kin'toni citizens.

The Falang have missions established in almost all the districts of the whole nation, and not just the provincial capitals of the kingdom. This is one of the unique features of the government of the Ashat nation, in that although the nation mostly or rather primarily has a federal structure, it does still have certain unitary features. One of these unitary features is the presence of the Falang clan departments within some of the deepest territories of the nation.

This means that although the central government that is controlled by the pioneer clans’ council does not intervene in the day to day administration of the provincial governments such as those led by the Par Anartah of the Iturn Dead Swamp region, but still maintain a method of communication with the kin'toni that live within the remotest regions of the same region, although it does not serve to in any weaken the hold of the provincial government, it still allows the kin'toni of the nation to associate the central role of the administration to the central government rather than the government led by the kin'toni clan that controls their region.

In this way, the falling have been able to create a population of kin'toni that still associate the pioneer clans’ council with more authority even though it is the provincial government that has been responsible for most if not all of the governance.

Military

The falling do not form an important part of the army as other clans do, in fact their association with the military of the nation is extremely weak, given their early decision of choosing to specialise in a role outside of the battlefield. In this way, the heritage of most of the pioneer clans’ council is one that does not involve a lot of active warfare in order to gain their position of leadership. This happens to be unique instance of the Ashat nation, in that the dominant clans are ones that do not have any large martial victories that they claim in order to be able to gain the mantle of the ruler.

For instance the kin'toni clans that lead the government of the other nations, most certainly began in a role that was dominant in the battlefield first and then evolved into one that involved administration. This order is completely reversed for the kin'toni clan of Falang as well as most of the other pioneer clans that are members of the council, in that they initially began with a role that was predominantly administrative and then increasingly became martial once they had secured the post of the leadership for the nation.

The Falang from the very outset have been seen as one of the cleverest clan of kin'toni and they therefore they confined themselves into the role that allowed them to best make use of their natural talent. At the same time, the warrior clans like the Galaka were involved in leading the armies of the kin'toni against the zu'aan and one another, but as the Ashat nation evolved and became larger and ever more complex the warriors were not bale to satisfactorily had together the region.

When the Ashat nation was on the verge of being split apart the warrior clans sought the intervention of the kin'toni clans that had been responsible for the administration of their armies, in this kin'toni clans that had been previously responsible for clerkship and other academic pursuits found their roles transformed over night into being responsible for the whole nation. In the rising of these kin'toni clans, the warrior clans lost their importance, and in fact many of these clans were disbanded and new clans made that would be more loyal to the concept of the nation than the clan.

The Flanag and the other pioneer clans can be very well thought of as being the kin'toni that rose to prominence as administrators but sabotaged and led to destruction the kin'toni clans that had created and won the lands over which they now ruled. There are barely five to six kin'toni warrior clans left on the whole continent of Erea in comparison to the time when the zu'aan armies also marched in large numbers, at that time there was a fraction of the population that we have today but the number of the warrior clans exceeded well over hundreds and into the territory of thousands.

Later onwards, the clans that make up the council expanded into the domain of warfare and won accolades in that as well.

Religion

The evolution of the religion in the Ashat nation is unlike the process for the evolution of the religion in other kin'toni nations, as most of the kin'toni nations saw the formation of completely new religions that had never before been seen in the world. These newly evolved religions in this way had a very kin'toni approach to the concept of god and the function that religion had in the lives of the kin'toni. Besides the religion of the Itkali kingdom, that is the religion of the Shepherd, there are certainly no other religions that take such an extreme or rather harsh view of the subject.

Most kin'toni religions are meant to serve as a means of morality for the individual kin'toni and the government of the kin'toni nations rarely if ever intervene in the conduct of religious affairs. In this manner the religion of the Falang as well as the other clans of the pioneer clans’ council is different, it involves a religion that had very much existed even in the times when the kin'toni had yet to be conceived by nature. There were temples of the Eyeless god during the time of the Xerea Empire as well, however, by that time the religion had certainly began to wane.

The Eyeless god had been a dominant religion in the times prior to the rise of the Xerea Empire, when the world was still split into various zu'aan nations and not unified under the mantle of the emperor. The Eyeless god is therefore certainly the most ancient religion that is still practiced in the world, and certain features of the religion certainly indicate that its practice is older than even the founding of the kin'toni kind. It is also a religion that can be said to be very unsuitable to kin'toni kind, for the Eyeless god is the god of the sun and light.

Kin'toni are unable to bear the direct light of the sun, and exposure to the sun is commonly referred to as the fiery kiss in the lexicon of the kin'toni. In this way, the practice of the religion of the Eyeless god is truly dangerous, this is why the construction of the temples of the Eyeless god is so complex and involves the mobilisation of significant resources. The current temples that are constructed for the practice of the religion of the Eyeless god are an invention unto themselves for they have been able to innovate.

They have come up with a design for the temples that allows the kin'toni to view the rising sun and the setting sun without being burnt by it. Just for their innovation in achieving this feat alone, there are kin'toni that have been tempted by the religion. It is reasoned that it is perhaps this feature of the religion that has so throughly attracted a large number of kin'toni to the Eyeless god more than the actual religious ideology that the religion promotes and seeks to instil in its devotaries as well as devotees.

Miscellany

It is reasoned that the Eyeless god would not be nearly as popular as the religion is in its present time if it were not for the ingenious design of the implements that the kin'toni have been able to construct and that they rely upon for the practice of their faith. The design of the device that is used to display the sun to the gathered devotees is based on the old temples of the Eyeless god that existed on the land even before the rise of the Xerea Empire.

At that time the devotees tracked the journey of the throughout the day and throughout the sun, and as such had construction of their temple domes with gaps and holes that allowed the penetration of sun rays throughout the whole day and throughout the year. The sun rays that would enter through the gaps in the roofs of the domes would be directed to a central water pool into which the sun formed its reflection. The devotees would gather around the pool to offer their tribute to the sun and on certain times of the year, the devotees would bathe in the pool when the sun was shinning into it.

The whole ideology behind the religion of the Eyeless god, is that the sun is essentially the supreme god, and is sightless in that he gives his rays to all those that seek them, his light, which is basically his blessing is to be shared by all creatures irrespective of their sins or acts of kindness. The light of the sun is thought to have purifying qualities as well, and that is why it is so important for the devotees of the Eyeless God to glimpse the sun at least twice a day, everyday.

The device the kin'toni have constructed in order to achieve this feat is based on the principle of the distance that light of the sun has to travel. It is well understood that the sun rays when the travel through the atmosphere, loose some of their potential, as such the light of the sun that is seen at the beginning of the day or the closing of the day separates into so many different colours and hues. This is because unlike during the day, the sun does not travel straight through to the location.

But rather has to travel much longer within the atmosphere of the world which is corrupted by the sins of the people that live on the world. Even though the sun lights potential is reduced during the rising and the setting, it is still enough to dissolve the connection a kin'toni has with the physical world, and so in order to still safely view the sight of the sun rising or setting there have to be multiple layers of substance that the sunlight must be passed through in order to allow the kin'toni to view it.

The falling kin'toni just like the other pioneer clan members never miss any of the services of the temple of the Eyeless god.
