Geography

Surrounded by tall trees, glistening streams and grasses, without any undergrowth, Essad could have functioned well as a park, except in this dispensation, Taerel does not recognize the use of a park. The trees form a pattern that looks almost like a covering, protecting the site from outside eyes. The ground is leveled and plains can be seen surrounding it. It is void of any mountains or hills as it is a non-sloping area of land. At a land area of 15,000 km, Essad is full of so many plants and natural herbs, all of which are nearly the same height. There are two streams in this region, both of which are freshwater streams. This streams are namely: Pikt'on and Ashdag.

Pikt'on is a twin stream, running from the east to the west and back again. Due to the presence of the green luminous algae (lumophyton), it is green all day and reflective at night. Before the war, it was a place where the people of the Gah'vor Kin'toni Clan would gather to wash and discuss trending news in their community. In the shattering age, it has become a quiet place, where ashes of the dead are poured into, as some tribes of Taerel prefer to burn their dead to burying their dead. Ashdag is known to be home to various colorful fish and aquatic animals. It is a clear stream with a wide bank, where the amphibian "cratpik" lies. Ashdag is still a place for fishing even in the present age.

In Autumn, green leaves turn orange and brown leaves turn purple given the whole region a colorful look. Small rodents can be seen scurrying around grave yards and larger animals tend to hibernate as they wait for winter. This is a perfect time for families of the dead to visit as there are flowers littered all around the grove and their safety from wild animals is assured. In spring, Essad is a beautiful area full of migrating birds from several places in Taerel, including the 'scitug' bird from Hatimati snowy blue Taiga. They rest on the tall trees of the grove, making nests from twigs and small leaves. Towards the end of this season, little insects start making deep wide burrows for their colony to live in during winter and larger animals leave their state of hibernation.

Though the air is slightly chilly every day in Essad, during winter it is slightly more so. The atmosphere is almost ethereal as every where is filled with white flakes of snow. It is on every tree and even on the grounds, creating a pathway. The Pikt'on stream freezes over, becoming pure ice, except for few holes which animals puncture to drink from. Many plants also shrink a little and it is at this time that birds begin to emigrate, leaving their nests and flying for hours towards the southern region of Taerel. The bigger animals find this season to their liking, waking during the end of spring from their months-long hibernation to roam around and feed on fishes in the Ashdag stream and smaller animals.

In summer, all animals are restless and even the trees have to rely on their stored up water to fully survive as the average tree in Essad needs at least a litre of moisture every three hours to survive. The birds can be seen flocking around the Ashdag stream even in the face of danger, to quench their thirst. All animals in Essad, also come to this stream, in search of food and water. It is the most unfavorable time for all animals and plants here, as their body cells have adapted to cold, therefore making the heat unwanted. Essad is ideal for living as an environment, when with the right amount of covering from its harsh weather conditions. Every other thing, from food, water and relaxation is already in place.

The local zu'aan have however decided to keep it untouched in honor of its past warriors. The methods used in getting the land will never be seen as right, but its use is of historical value to Taerel.

Plants

Essad plants thrive majorly on absorbed moisture, from the air and soil. They can also be called Moist-plantae. Some of these plants include:

Dermu'ch: The dermu'ch is a blood plant that is about 18 feet high. The texture of its bark is like that of the zu'aan skin, hence its name. The sap seeps from its centre. It is locally grown in the Essad grove, but harvested every year by the head farmers of Lyeyere city.

Dahori: Is a luminous Moist-plantae of the algae class, that grows in the Pikt'on stream. It is a green shapeless algae that survives only when submerged in water. It provides nutrients for small fishes in the river, cleanses the river of all impurities and gives off a yellowish green light. This mystical plant has been experimented on severally by Taerel scientists and its mechanism has aided in the development of technology.

Akoth: The only medicinal herb that grows in the Essad grove is the akoth, which is under the family of the Akore (waterleaf) of the zu'aan world. It grows up to 12ft, with thick branches, thin leaves and an efficient water trapper in its roots. This plant is used to treat all forms of skin related diseases amongst the kin'tonis. Its leaves are squeezed and the water it secretes applied to the body for healing skin defects.

Black Haje'k: One of the biggest trees in the the region, with a height of 14ft and a mass of 700kg. The black Haje'k has wide branches, black colored leaves and a tap root system. Its flowers are green and blue in color, with the petals secreting a liquid that is used as glue in construction. The leaves of this tree can be used as condiment for several Taerel delicacies.

Trech'id: is well known for the shape of its leaves and its use in the construction of houses. During the time of the the Gah'vor Kin'toni Clan, it was used in making "gi'vork"(small heated houses). The Trech'id leaf is in the shape of a star, hence the name, "Star Tree", given to it by little children. During weddings, trech'id leaves are gathered and tied to strings to be worn by the bride and groom as the sign of a blessed marriage.

Animals

The most prominent feature amongst Essad animals is their fur like skin which protects them for the cold. bAmong this animals, there are a few which are native to only Essad, namely;

Tibuq: The tibuq is a predator that feeds on smaller animals and birds like the scitug. It has a big bushy tail, wide catty eyes and sharp teeth which it uses to grab prey easily. It is an independent animal, choosing to walk alone rather than in a pack except during hibernation. A group of Tibuq seen together is called a "shock". The Tibuq can only be found in Essad autumnal boreal grove.

Cratpik: A giraffe like amphibian that dwells on the banks of the Ashdag Stream. It has a long neck, sharp teeth and a small tail. It lives both in water and on land, surviving the coldest temperatures with its heated scales. The cratpik feeds on small fish in Ashdag. During hibernation, it stays asleep for months on the water, floating in circles. Its meat cannot be eaten, but its skin is used for making clothes and accessories among the women of the local zu'aan city.

Scitug: This is a small bird that migrates to the Essad region during spring season from Hatimati. It has a wide flat beak, small feet and black beady eyes, with which it notices predators from a distance. The scitug feeds on small insects and the blood fruit of Dermu'ch. Its feathers are of a bright blue color, often striped by black or white depending on the specie. There are two types of the scitug called scitug prate and scitug trave.

Zewx: This colorful flying fish emigrates to the south during winter, but lives most of its adult life in Essad. It is a purple colored fish with yellow spots on over its entire frame. Its dorsal fin and tail are also very visible. It feeds on nutrients supplied by the plants in the region. The fish is small and can be eaten as a delicacy called "tapiku", when prepared with the right leaves and condiments.

Essad is an important part of Taerel lands, has it holds historical and tourism values. People visit this area till today as a sort of vacation and exploration. It is a beautiful part of Taerel created from a grave time in the records of the nation.
