Geography
Geographically, the Ban’ech Graywood Forest was settled between a valley and a river. The trees that grew there were naturally very straight and narrow. They grew tall and had beautiful large round leaves that painted the branches with their beauty. The leaves were a beautiful shade of orange and some of them had red borders around them causing them to look almost as though the red was a picture frame for the orange. When the seasons would change, the leaves would turn from orange and red to yellow and brown, and they would fall to the forest floor, creating a beautiful blanket there until the snow would fall to cover it.
Around the forest there were many trees that had vines on them. These were located more towards the side of the forest that had the river along it as the water there had helped the vines to grow so prosperously. Many animals would use these vines to move around through the trees and to climb up and down them almost as through they were natural grown ladders that were there for them to use. The forest floor, when not littered with leaves, was rocky and covered with roots that would make it hard for anyone to try and walk through it. The trees had such even spacing that they would provide their own natural pathways there that would make it easier for the animals and even the Urn’ash clan to navigate through them.
While there were roots nearly everywhere, there were some nice spots that were nice and flat, and the Urn’ash clan had taken those spots for themselves and used them to build their houses. Occasionally, when they needed more space they would chop through the roots on the forest floor, and they would build in the open spaces, not taking a single regard for the fact that they were killing off parts of the trees every time they did so.
The trees were able to recover, and they would grow stronger than ever, their bark thickening so that it would be significantly harder for them to be chopped down.
Each time there was a mark left in a tree, the bark that grew back there would be twice as strong as it was before. Sometimes, there were large rocks that could be seen as you walked through the forest. These were larger than some of the homes that the Urn’ash clan had built, and they housed small caves and tunnels below them that small animals had used to hide from the kin’toni that resided within the forest. The tunnels would provide a quick escape from the kin’toni, and it would give them a quick escape as far as they could get. Some of the tunnels would lead to the valley where it would be easier to run away as quickly as they could.
other tunnels would lead to the river, and the animals that used them would take those tunnels so that they could get to the water quicker when they were thirsty. The tunnels had become their saving grace when they needed and escape.
Plants
The Ban’ech Graywood Forest was a forest of beautiful trees with large round leaves that filled their branches. As previously stated, the leaves were a bright orange color, brandishing red frames around them that looked as though the red was showing off the orange center. As this was how most of the leaves looked, it caused a beautiful sunset look to the canopy of the forest, as well as providing an exponential amount of coverage for the animals and clans that decided to live there. Along the sides of some of the trees were large vines that wrapped around the trunks of the trees.
These were a dark green in color and they were thick, sturdy vines that clung to the trunks of the trees. They had brown scuff marks in them that were signifying of them being used to climb on for animals to gain access to the trees. The vines had claw marks and other large wounds on them that signified battles that had been had either by animals or by kin’toni in the area. The vines had grown around their marks, adapting to the injuries that they had sustained and allowing them to become a part of their growth.
On the forest floor, aside from the roots of the trees that were scattered there, there were small light blue and yellow flowers that would grow around the trunks of the trees. There were flowers that flourished from the nutrients that the trees pulled in and would steal them to be able to grow themselves. They wouldn’t take much of the nutrients from the trees, ensuring that they stayed small and added enough color to the drab greyness of the forest. These small blue and yellow flowers were called araniabs and they were a harmless plant.
Their petals were about the same size as the head of a needle, and they would grow in small bunches of at least seven. They had small dark green leaves in the shape of hearts around the flowers, there being at least four around each flower, while some would brandish up to six. As well, there was tall thick grass that grew around the edges of the forest, almost like a wall of grass that kept unwanted or uninvited guests out of the forest. While there were animals that could access the forest through the tops of the trees and the vines, there were many that weren’t able to jump over the grass to get to the trees to climb them.
The tall blades of grass were covered with a dew that had the ability to make anyone that wasn’t immune to it very sick. This was how the forest was able to keep out unwanted animals. That is, until the Urn’ash clan came to live within the forest and had chopped down much of the grass once they had figured out that the grass could make them very sick.
Animals
Within the Ban’ech Graywood Forest, there were many animals that called the forest home. There were iidla that lived in the tops of the trees, wreaking havoc with their small bodies. They didn’t look how you would think, as they were quite tiny, and usually a deep red color. These iidla had ridged backs with large bumps coming out of their spines which they used as a form of defence mechanism to keep predators away. These ridges had developed after the kin’toni had moved into the area and had chopped down the grass there, allowing for other animals to get into the forest and to try and eat the iidla.
As well, the iidla had long snakelike tails that they would use to wrap around the branches so that they could hang to sleep. As well as sleeping, they would use their tails to grip onto each other when they were fighting. Their tails were long and didn’t have much fur on them as they would use them so often. Other than the squirrels, there were other animals that would frequent Ban’ech Graywood Forest. The most frequent were large furry animals that walked on four legs. They had large paws and short legs, this causing them to be strong, but not fast.
Their fur was short to their body when the weather would remain warm, and it would become longer as the weather would become colder. Their fur was a dark grey to match the color of the trees, and they brandished dark red eyes that could see long distances in the dark. They were the main predators of the squirrels, and would lay in wait, camouflaged in the trees to wait for the squirrels to wander over so that they could eat them. They were one of the species that had decided to flee once the Urn’ash kin’toni clan had moved into the forest as they had initially been hunted by the kin’toni so that their pelts could be turned into clothing.
When they were discovered, the kin’toni had started to call them behira as they always seemed to want to fight anything that they could.Along with the other animals, there were large elk-like creatures. They had similar body shapes to the elk, but they didn’t have the same proportions. They were larger in size, with their legs being longer than the length of their torso. They had large hooves at the bottom of their legs that had large spikes in the bottom of them that would assist them in running faster. Their hooves were about the same size as the head of most kin’toni, and on them they stood to be over ten feet in height.
They were called ewlangi, and they were very majestic creatures. While they were too big to frequent the forest, they were always found on the outskirts of the forest itself, as they would eat the tall poisonous grass. The poison wouldn’t effect them, instead it would give them strength, and they would be the only animals that would come to eat them.
