Taerel for Dummies

Pretty much Taerel: The Twilight Age, and Taerel: The Awakening Age, are an world set after a vampire outbreak. The Awakening age is set at just after to 415 years after the outbreak. The Shattering Age is set from 415 to 915 years after the outbreak. The person who started the project was Stevie Lambert, who goes by TaerelAdmin on this site. It was very much inspired by "Apokalyx, I Am Legend, Stake Land, and Daybreakers. The setting is free to read in its entirety. Be warned, the setting has adult content not okay for people under 15 and may have unmarked triggering content.

The wiki is edited by paid creative writers that "claim" pre-made blank pages to write who post on a self hosted unfinished content wiki and then the content is moved over to the wiki for finished content.

The History of the Project

The project started when TheBurningPrincess was in a children's home named "Linden House". One of the carers was a man named James. TheBurningPrincess liked to talk to James about an "Vampire world", in time, Jame's asked her to write down the lore for her vampire clans. This lead her to start of the first version of Taerel, the "Vampyre Clans Project. She went to DeviantArt forums to find users. and found a user named "TheSkull31" to help her. At that time, the wiki was hosted on Wikia, now known as FANDOM. Her and TheSkull 31 wrote down the lore of the Vampyre clans. Later, she came up with the idea of adding pages for places, and people related to the Vampyre clans. This second version of the Taerel project was named "Galas Malatar".

The project's writer's where unpaid volunteers at the time. Progress was slow. In about 2019, the Vampyres were renamed "kin'toni", all common nouns where lowercase and any "Elder Scrolls" kin'toni clan names was changed. The world was also renamed "Taerel". The wiki was later moved WikiDot, but as TheBurningPrincess hated the lack of categoryies, it was moved to MWZip, but when MWzip shut down it was moved to Miraheze. After a while, it was moved from Miraheze to a self hosted wiki due to not liking Miraheze's policies and as TheBurningPrincess wanted full control of the wiki. In 2020, TheBurningPrincess switch over from using volunteer writers to paid freelancers.

Progress sped up to 50,000 to 100,000 words a month. Due to money issues, progress has slowed down to maybe 30k words a month max. At the latest count, in 15th of March, 2024, the wiki stands at 2,421,396 words and 903 pages.
