Geography

Enta Rolling Hills is a larger region located in the centre of the Taerel continent. It is comprised of many slight rises and covered almost entirely in lush green grass and farmland. The hills are not rocky or very steep and the farmlands stretch over top of these. There are several lakes and rivers that run through the region and help to keep the plant life healthy. The largest of these rivers is the roaring Katanost. Katanost runs from the eastern border all the way through to western border and beyond. This river is one of the longest and widest on the continent.

The local Ightuit kin’toni have built two bridges over it. The largest of theses bridges is located within the Ightuit clan’s capital of Kiltamine. This bridge is a popular tourist location as it has brilliant views over the riverside as well as the town. The other rivers in the region are interconnected in some way to the Katanost. They spread like veins throughout the countryside and most of the larger farmland sectors and based around them. Kiltamine was once a small zu’aan farming village, but it has been transformed by the Ightuit kin’toni clan into a bustling trade centre.

All of the roads in Enta lead to Kiltamine as well as the major river Katanost. All traffic can eventually find its way to the capital. Here all the farmers from the countryside come to sell their goods to neighbouring regions and to other Ightuit. The town has no walls and contains dozens of taverns and other workshops. In the centre of the town is the Ightuit Hall where the ruling council meet on a weekly basis. The hall is crafted of wood and is covered in Ightuit symbols that have been carved into almost every surface. The hall is a major landmark and tourist attraction as it stands thirty metres tall and contains various gold and silver ornaments to display the clan’s wealth.

Enta is sorted into three sections by the local Ightuit kin’toni. There are two sections of land that are primarily focused on farming. The larger of these two is called Tatamost. Tatamost is the northern part of Enta and is almost entirely covered in farmland. This area is considered the best for farming and most of the wealthiest farmers own land in this area. Tatamost also is renowned for having the best weather. The second farming section of Enta is called Katamost. Katamost is the south-western part of Enta and is mostly used for farming a specific plant called Taroa.

This is due to the slightly cooler climate in this section. The remaining land in Enta is the third section, known as Ightuita. Ightuita is mostly based around industry and trade centres. This section has the capital Kiltamine and includes the river Katanost. Most of the major towns in the region are found within this section. Surrounding the three sections is the Ightuit Line, a series of fortifications that run the length of the Enta border. These defences were commissioned by Tytano as a precaution against other angry kin’toni clans. They are meant to be impenetrable and thus far have never been breached. Although this may have something to do with the fact that they have never been attacked.

Plants

Enta Rolling Hills contains a lot of plant life. Although in this region most of these plants are farmed for food or other purposes. The ground is great for plants, and the climate is not too harsh. While most of Enta is used as farmland there are still native plants that grow in the wild parts. The local Ightuit kin’toni clan have discovered many clever ways to use their regions plants, as well as cultivate them better.

Taroa

Taroa is a native species of berry plant that grows in the southwestern section of Enta Rolling Hills, Katamost. Taroa plants are only around one metre in height and are blue in colour. They have small red leaves that run along their branches. These plants can only live in cooler environments and tend to grow near rivers. Their berries are blue like their stems and can grow to be around the size of a palm. The local Ightuit kin’toni clan farms taroa a lot, as the berries are worth a lot of money to zu’aan traders. The entire section of Katamost is almost solely dedicated to the growth of Taroa.

Each plant can grow up to thrity berries and the once picked they grow back very quickly. This allows for mass production at an incredible rate, something which has added to the Ightuit’s massive wealth.

Oatyan

Oatyan is a species of tree that grow both wildly and in farms throughout Enta Rolling Hills. These trees have brown trunks and light blue leaves. They can grow up to six metres in height, although the farmed ones usually only reach heights of three. In spring they grow delicious yellow fruits in their upper branches. These fruit are very sought after by zu’aan traders. Although many are farmed the best and most expensive of the fruit come from the taller wild oatyan trees. To reach the fruit farmers must either use ladders or climb the tree.

The leafy branches are covered in large thorns that can cut the skin easily. This makes climbing treacherous, although the younger kin’toni seem to think this make it more thrilling.

Ebeshen

Ebeshen are plants the grow in the wild of Enta Rolling hills. These plants can be found at the base of the many hills that cover the Enta countryside. The grow low to the ground and have several long leaves that grow from the core of the plant. These leaves droop to the ground and have since taken on the green colour of the grass the grows there. The core of the plant is coloured red. They usually reach the size of wheel, and often grow so many long leaves the core can no longer be seen from the outside. These plants are not edible but their leaves are quite tough and have been used by the local Ightuit kin’toni clan to make baskets.

They also use the ebeshen leaves to hold sword hilts and other weaponry toegher. Each plant can grow a limitless amount of these leaves, and they continue to grow all year round.

Animals

Enta Rolling Hills is home to a large number of unique wildlife. The conditions are quite hospitable for the native animals, and since the local Ightuit kin’toni have removed all of the natural predators, life is flourishing. The Ightuit do not farm animals so all the creatures in Enta are free to roam. Some creatures are even allowed to enter the towns.

Yakamet

Yakamet are a species of mammal that are native and unique to Enta Rolling Hills. Yakamet have brown fur that covers all of their bodies except their faces which are covered by pale skin. The males have orange stripes that run across their bodies to mark them out. These creatures are harmless and feed mostly on the endless grass in the region. They walk on all fours and can run extremely fast if threatened. The local Ightuit kin’toni use them as natural lawn mowers. The yakamet live in herds, and some kin’toni famers direct the herds into overgrown fields to clear them out to be farmed.

The creatures can often be found wandering the streets of Kiltamine and the other farming towns. Their population has steadily increased over the years of Ightuit occupation and the region is overflowing with them now. Occasionally the Ightuit lead hunting parties to kill off the older males to stop them breeding so much. Their meat is also able to sustain the local kin’toni’s lust for blood.

Iaslado

Iaslado are a species of insect that are native and unique to Enta Rolling Hills. They are fat, flightless beetles that make their homes in the soil beneath Ebeshen plants. Iaslado consume the leaves that the plant grows. They are dark blue in colour and their backs are lined with green and yellow dots. The large mandibles that they use for cutting the leaves can also be used against predators. Although these are not poisonous, they can still pack quite a bite. Iaslado use their mandibles to dig small holes in the ground beneath the leaves they eat.

They live here all year round and also lay their eggs at the bottom of these tunnels. When it rains the beetles will seal the tunnels and live off their leaf stocks within until the rain passes.

Waraket

Waraket are a species of bird that are native and unique to Enta Rolling Hills. They are some of the largest birds on the continent and often migrate to other regions over the course of the year. Each year they return to Enta to breed and lay their eggs. They make their nests in the top of the tallest trees and sometimes on top of tall buildings. These birds can have a wingspan of up to three metres and when perched can reach the height of a tall kin’toni. They have long beaks suited to plucking fish out of the water. They hunt on the large rivers found in Enta, notably the katanost. The female’s feathers are coloured blue and grey, and they tend to be smaller than the males.

The males have dark blue feathers and grow bright red frills across their heads. They use these frills to entice a mate during the breeding season.
