Geography
Shaped roughly like a crescent moon, Burradper is an elevation of land amid the Omogen mountains, which surround it from all sides. It is classified as a taiga, remaining cold throughout the entire year and welcoming large amounts of snow. Tree and animal life is plenty, and its unique placement in the burrow of various mountains provides with a natural advantage against external factors, making it a largely isolated biome. It is cold throughout the entire year, and it snows prominently during winter, fall, and early spring. During late spring and summer the snowing decreases and the taiga is green and lush, though temperatures always remain cold.
Common meteorological phenomena include rain, both mild and intense, hail, snow, dry thunder, thunderstorms, snowstorms, mild to intense wind, and northern lights during fall and winter. The risk for natural disasters is low, except for the risk of avalanches, which can come any time of the year from the surrounding mountain range. Rock falls are rare but occur on occasion. There are a number of natural water sites around Burradper. Most of them are fountains that originate on the mountain and pool at the bottom, some of them running along for a small distance of land, some of them stopping right away at fountains. There are some lakes spread around Burradper. The water remains frozen during the colder months.
Slowly thawing during early spring and remaining liquid for the rest of the warm season until late summer, when it begins developing ice. The higher the water is, the less likely it is to thaw during the warm season. There are no rivers inside the mountain range. Ever since the Twilight Age came, the climate in Burradper has been specially affected. The colder temperatures have made summer and spring last less and less, and the cold seasons have been lowering to record negatives. Snow now has not enough time to fully met, and even during the warm seasons the ground is not green but covered in white. Lakes and other bodies of water similarly don't have long enough or enough of a high temperature to fully thaw, and some are covered in thin ice sheets or deep frozen ice.
Snowstorms are more frequent, and as snow keeps pilling and not fully disappearing, it is harder to live on the ground and move away the snow. This climate is currently being fought by the Danic zu'aan.
Plants
There is a vast amount of plant life in Burradper, mainly consistent of trees and bushes. While species diversity is not great, it is also not sparse. Some examples of local species include: Rohiyasumi tree, the most common and proliferous staple plant life in all of Burradper is the coniferous rohiyasumi. Shaped like an arching umbrella, the rohiyasumi is a deciduous conifer that permeates most of the woodland in Burradper. It is dark green during the warm seasons, and gradually turns into a deep scarlet or lime yellow during autumn, when it sheds all its needle-like leaves. Due to the strange growing pattern that forms a dome of leaves at the top of the tree and extends outwards, it had no branches or leaves except on the very top.
This strange evolutionary choice, which at first glance might seem disadvantageous due to it creating less space for other plant life and rohiyasumi trees, can be explained by its relationship with the surrounding biome. It is thought that due to being in the middle of two mountain ranges and being susceptible to snow storms and avalanches from all sides, the tree has adapted higher leaves in order to thrive in deep snow even during the warm seasons, an ambient that would normally decimate tree life and create a tundra. Due to the incoming Twilight Age and prevailing snow storms and rising snow level, it would appear the rohiyasumi tree is well-adapted.
Its leaves are used for artisanal purposes, and its sap is very useful as makeshift medicine and as a waterproof slimy substance. Rohiyasumi wood is also used for construction. It is a very light wood with thin strands, considered to be strong and durable. Rohiyasumi trees produce a seed-bearing pinecone-like structure resembling a slightly wide disk, like a compressed sphere. Mfu'jas, a bush that survives on the open sun of the Burradper Taiga. It is a circular plant that as an overarching, unique physical structure that makes it so its edges fold towards the inside, giving it a peculiar and very distinct look. Asides from that, it is a very common winter plant that behaves very much like one.
It flowers during the entire year, a single stem at the top of its body that has short orange petals and grows in a singular cluster of 5-6 flowers. Its leaves are sprawling structures that hang out about 2-3 inches and are very soft to the touch, and its tissue is a very light green, akin to fresh prairie grass. It is not edible and has no edible parts by zu'aan dietary standards but is often used for decorative purposes, due to the peculiar shape of its body, which is thought to be that way for protection against the snow.
Animals
There are a plethora of animal species living in Burradper Taiga Upland. Here is a few named variants of them: Iadud, a large flightless insect species that mainly inhabits the snowy open sections of Caear. Semi-aquatic, they enjoy passing their time in the trees lining the forest, consuming sap with their long, serrated beaks. They have tiny red eyes, one on each side of its head, and a combination of blue and white scales. Their tails spiral upwards continuously, as do the crown on the back of their heads. They typically have a red or yellow streak above their eyes. They show sexual dimorphism, as the males are somewhat larger than the females and possess five claws, while the females have four claws.
They can grow up to three decimeters tall. They have wings, which they are unable to use for flight and mainly employ in mating rituals. Considered 'exotic' insects, and very territorial and hostile to new life, and other insects tend to avoid them altogether. Fredicasu, a multicored, land bearing amphibian that despite its appearance, cannot be found on water. This weird, but very common creature is a type of amphibian. It's about the size of a shrimp, has eight tails and a long, thick head. They have a thin, but strong skin which is usually either light red, dark blue or bronze or a combination of these colors, making for a rainbow appearance. They live in shaded areas, found all over the forest, especially near the mountains, and are common.
They're herbivores and their small, long mouths and rough tongue are ideal for eating berries. They are hunted by a plethora of carnivorous species, although, perhaps due to their unusual body type when it comes to land species, are only hunted by animals which may be found near water and are used to consuming fish and other water species, and are generally avoided by others. They're nocturnal and rely on their hearing and taste buds to get around. They do have thin, narrow eyes, but their sight is relatively poor. On the other hand, they have huge noses and small, round ears. Their heads are small and narrow in comparison to their bodies. They make sounds ranging from very low pitched to fairly high pitched and have a extremely large range of sounds they make.
This is to indicate discoveries, dangers and otherwise communicate with each other, and are as such regarded as a fairly intelligent species. These creatures are very timid, but they're territorial in terms of personal space. They mate twice a year with a specifically selected partner for life. Which, with their short lifespans, isn't extraordinary. They are harvested by zu'aan for culinary purposes, as they are not very much unlike other cephalopods in terms of taste and composition. It is unknown how they came to develop a form typically suited for water biomes that exists solely on land. They have lungs and breathe like any other mammal.
