Wyta Kin'toni Clan
History
The Wyta kin'toni clan was founded in the year 4E 350 and came from former scientists who were infected. The Wyta kin'toni clan was an originally small expendable clan until they broke up their links on the mainland and opted to live away. The clan went to Qan'Haar Isle to run from the zu'aan and other kin'toni clans. The zu'aan had killed most of the clan who had stayed behind. Unknown to many, most of the founding Wyta kin'toni were former scientists who regained their sanity and left themselves exiles and the rapidity of the evolving virus in their bodies let them explore more on the virus itself.
As time passed these "scientists" came to rule and was then leading the clan in the isolated kingdom making use of whatever technology they can make using primitive materials. They made huge fishing ships, transport ships and battleships. cultivated farming lands, built castles and settlements as well introduced a unique agriculture/hunting/fishing, developed weapons and trained hunters turned militias which turn to warriors into full soldiers that protect their little but ever-advancing and growing community. These methods yielded unprecedented results that made a once fledgling clan into a prosperous and awe-inspiring one.
This was a time before the Shattering. In the Shattering, a dark time of death and war, the clan lost many of its numbers to other clans, who numbered many. There was a sky darkened by a cloud of dust from a supervolcanic eruption. This blocked out the sun and stopped food from growing. There was also a volcanic winter at the same time. Many died of hunger. The clan that was numbering over ten thousand was brought down to under five thousand in number. The clan was harmed a lot by this event and is weaker than before. Now, an old Wyta kin'toni called Ko has previously found a long lost shelter beneath the waves of the sea and she is racing with time to get the Wyta kin'toni Clan.
To create equipment or transports of some sort to take them there and await the apocalypse. Almost all of the clan does not think it is real. A large group of them, made a group calling themselves the "Nightwalkers", a cult who wish death upon most of the kin'toni race. They are who is trying to stop the group calling themselves the "Hopebringers" who are trying to get the rest of the clan to get down there to live. At the time, the Nightwalkers as doing anything they can get rid of the clan of the Hopebringers, to the point of killing them. The Nightwalkers have killed most of the Hopebringers who are in hiding. Very few of the clan do not know of the long lost shelter, that may not be real.
But, now at the beginning of the Third Era, time is running out and the ice age and the other kin'toni draw ever closer, it will be hard to tell if the clan will live on...
Psychology
Not known to many Whet 'Ae clan kin'toni are cunning hunters and genius craftsmen. When a Wyta kin'toni observes you he/she is coercing you to reveal your habits and by using cold reading can in limited duration and actions, sometimes guess what would you do next and could be able to counter it effectively. This skill can be dangerous in its application to warfare and diplomacy. This skill has made other kin'toni clans paranoid around them and most other clans have found ways to stop the Wyta clan kin'toni from using this to their ends.
Some clans can still be affected by it. But due to these natures, Wyta's are not unknown to suffer serious paranoia if a stranger is "cannot be read". This leads them to retreat immediately to any kind of meeting, be it on the field of warfare or in a middle of a highly sensitive diplomatic talk to rethink and recall and plan extensively on what to do in their next encounter. They have some powerful weaknesses of the mind too, many kin'toni of this clan have phobias and some had signs of mental disturbances, like hearing voices and seeing things that are not there.
Some kin'toni in this clan have gone mad and had to be killed to not be a threat to the clan. However, despite their mental weaknesses, they have a few strengths, such as the ability to foresee or predict the future based on current events that are going on around them. Part of the reason why this is the case is because of their accurate track record on predicting their victories in small-scale battles as far as how they will win, although their track record on how they might be able to win larger-scale battles is not nearly as accurate or impressive.
Mainly because of their minimal experience in such a battle environment, or lack thereof, and that might also explain why they have never truly been able to win any wars. Even so, and despite their hallucinatory behaviours, Whet Ae kin'toni are generally regarded as beings of above-average intelligence with the downside of schizophrenia, which over half of the kin'toni in this clan suffer from. Part of the reason why this is true is that, according to a recent kin'toni'ati census, most of the kin'toni in this clan, when turned from zu'aan to beings of the clan.
Generally inherit common behaviour traits which are generally associated with hallucinations, hearing and seeing invisible things, and the odds of a potential panic attack, which has been known to cause death in this clan.
Biology
kin'toni in this clan have smooth, shiny, dark green-blue skin and are generally regarded as a well-kept, nicely groomed clan as far as personal hygiene and skincare is concerned. They have a slender build and are around 5 feet, 4 inches tall for females and 6 feet tall for males. Whet 'Ae kin'toni weigh around one hundred and ninety-one pounds for males and females are around one hundred and sixty-four pounds. It is known that they are very graceful, but not as strong as many other kin'toni clans, only being as strong as the zu'aan. Their strength never shows in their musculature or their build and they are unnaturally faster than many other kin'toni clans.
Which might otherwise explain how light on their feet they can be and may determine their surprisingly quick running techniques. Their hair, which they usually wear long, is sleek and straight, and usually black, some shade of grey, silver or white, but some of those with such qualities also portray a goatee, with their moustache and chin hair proving to be the most distinguishable qualities about them. Their ears are much longer than a zu'aan's and their ears sweep backwards from the head, but their ears, however, do not point upwards or outwards much. Their eyes have violet irises and black scleras.
And that makes them very unlike most of their other kin'toni'ati counterparts; therefore, and given their biological circumstance, the ears of the kin'toni in the Whet Ae clan are, like almost all other kin'toni clans, pointed. Given their seemingly average body type it is almost entirely nonchalant to mistake this breed of kin'toni for a breed of zu'aan, but their fangs, which are often pretty long, can very easily pierce and even puncture skin; given that, this breed of kin'toni have been known by their unusually long fangs, which in turn can kill approximately half of the time.
Another thing to consider as it pertains to their fangs is that their fangs are often stained with some strange shade of red, mainly about the blood of other creatures, and that is yet another distinguishable trait of this clan, although it might be the result of their constant hunting on their turf and other turfs like it. Assuming that kin'toni generally live to see up to and include three decades years of age, the beings in this clan have a slightly less than average lifespan; however, the oldest kin'toni to ever live in the Wyta clan was supposedly rumoured to have lived roughly eleven decades.
Although he spent most of that time in complete darkness and developed bioluminescence in his eyes. Given that, only two per cent of the kin'toni in this clan live longer than one hundred years.
Culture
This breed of kin'toni are very skilled in hunting and certain practices about it, such as archery and so on; this is because of their unique ability to study and decipher their prey through psychoanalysis, which may lead to insanity for some in this clan. Some kin'toni in the past have come from afar to study this clan's practice of hunting and archery, and in doing so they have discovered through constant observance that the Wyta kin'toni are generally and biologically intertwined with this practice as their turners, the ones who turned them.
And many generations before them have had a natural eye for such practices. Many of the kin'toni in this clan have two names, a public one and a private one. However, like at least one other clan, one of which they prefer to consider their allies rather than their enemies, although the reverse is often proven, they have a talent for acting. Every couple of years the Wyta clan's government will host a contest to see which of their clanmates can write the best one-act play, and of a few hundred submissions three are chosen to be performed by a group of kin'toni'ati actors known as the Qid Baxid.
Or, as translated from Tarakani, the Interesting Ensemble, half of which are female and half of which are male. The Qid Baxid will be given exactly a year to rehearse each of the winning plays, and on the eve of the next contest, the plays will be performed in their respective entireties. Another thing to consider about the Whet Ae clan is that on top of their unique ability to write plays and their unique ability to hunt and practice archery, they are also fairly good at construction, although some would admit that they are not exactly the best at it. Nonetheless, Wyta kin'toni is also skilled in construction.
Because they have taken their time in creating unique compositions of architecture. For this very reason, it is generally assumed that they can also do fairly well at creating durable walls and other buildings. However, what is often unnoticed by other clans is the clan's ability to compose music for percussion instruments made especially by the Whet Ae clan's government. The most peculiar thing about this is the timing of their construction of these instruments, which can often last as short as a few hours and as long as a few days, depending on the size of the instrument and what kind of notes it can play.
The Whet Ae clan's government is made by several servants, each of which is very experienced in musical instrument construction and have made all kinds of instruments since their early childhood.
Government
A hybrid-feudalistic government is structured on the Clan, which generally associates itself with the order through the battle; in addition, it is ruled over by not only elites but also the lowly ranking members of the clan, and as a result, it would be then decided who will be the leader by either, a duel, an open vote or an open forum where those present will do and casts who is the one who is rightful to rule the clan for 60 years. In some cases, it is a combination of all three of these. In the past, the standard way for a leader of this clan to be chosen was either through a duel or a vote.
Both of which were considered unique and unusual for kin'toni'ati governments at the time. However, someone thousand years ago the Wyta clan's government added the additional option of an open forum, which gave everyone in the clan an equal opportunity to voice their opinion on who they think should rule their clan and why, and that has been proven to be a popular choice among most of the kin'toni in this clan. Generally speaking, a duel was often billed as a fight of the titans and was contested to determine who would rule the clan, at which point the winner would lead the clan for 1000 years.
And the loser would be forced back down the ladder and must attempt to climb up the ranks yet again. Second, a vote to determine a new leader has often considered if the current leader committed a (series of) wrongdoing(s) that culminated in his establishment stripping him of his leadership, and the candidate with the most votes would be declared the new leader; and finally, if the current leader were to die of elderly age or be killed by an outsider, an open forum would be conducted to determine who would be that leader's replacement.
Midway into the current Whet Ae clan leader's presidency—approximately three decades after that leader's initial inauguration—a mid-rule election is held where everyone in the clan will have an opportunity to vote to determine whether or not the current leader has what it takes to rule the clan for another three decades, a kin'toni that rules this clan can rule for only two terms, each of which last three decades. After his or her leadership is fulfilled, he or she can choose to continue working for the Wyta Clans' government as an advisor to the next leader.
Which will be decided either by a duel, a vote, or an open forum.
Military
The military of the Wyta kin'toni Clan are well equipped and well raised. The Wyta kin'toni Clan commands one of the largest naval powers among the kin'toni clans as well as one of the least organized of them all. The Wyta kin'toni clan is somewhat skilled in jungle warfare also and is not often caught unaware in a fight. Part of this is because they are from a jungle island; the Wyta kin'toni Clan, however, never had gone into a head-on fight inland and also had no heavy typed infantry or suited for prolonged sieges.
And because of this, they are not able to arm themselves and shield themselves as effectively as some other clans hen in precarious situations. The Wyta kin'toni Clan is generally said to lose a few battles but could not win a war for these weaknesses and even if they will, much of the clan would be cinders of its former glory. Therefore, and as a result, this clan is not very good at large scale battles and wars, only being able to perform well in small battles. The clan also has difficulties in military supply chain management, making it hard for them to fight for a long time.
This may be due to their mental issues regarding their psychological frame of mind as a whole, and that in turn essentially makes them weak of body and strong but sensitive in mind and spirit. They also dedicate half of their time during their weekly training and exercising to gain physical and physiological wisdom and awareness, probably because most of the kin'toni in this clan don't have much of anything else, in particular, to practice on besides their cultural practices, which include playwriting among other things. Nevertheless, they are determined to bring the best in themselves.
This is in every training session and exercise they engage themselves in. It was not too long ago that this clan began to see a shortfall in zu'aan population in their region, but they still thrive on turning zu'aan when given the chance, especially considering how good they are and how effective they are at doing so; however, most of the zu'aan that they turn are often raised in a jungle environment, which means hunting for food and looking for fresh fruit to eat, which is, in some regard, one of the primary ways to train a newly turned Wyta kin'toni to fight and fend for themselves and their families.
Strange, but this is how most activities are conducted in the Wyta clan's military, which includes nightly sprints and hunting exercises.
Religion
One true being and resurrection are the centre of the religious belief of the Wyta kin'toni Clan, they believe that only through the burning of the body by the sunlight is the only way the dead or those who are ready to be dead to transfer their souls to the sanctuary to live there in relative peace until chosen again to live their lives with the clan once more; furthermore, and to clarify what has already been mentioned, this belief makes every member of the clan do their best to retrieve anyone who had fallen in battle to be "buried" on their sacred ground, which is supposedly located dead in the centre of the An'dyn region.
It is considered customary and standard in this clan for a kin'toni to fall to their knees and pray before and after every exercise or training session spent each night, which may also explain how they get their quickness and lightness on their feet. Each time a Wyta kin'toni prays, they believe that the Resurrection God Wyzfim, who sees all activity high above the atmosphere in a dimension not too far away, does an ancient secret ritual in which he does a slow interpretive dance that involves yoga exercise. The Clans' religious leaders suggested that this god does this twice a day to rejoice in his fellow creation's prayers.
There is no proof that the god is real, of course. The history of this clan's religious beliefs dates back to ancient Prehistorical Terael, which was once divided up into two separate, giant continents. Legend has it that the land was formed by the resurrection god Wyzfim, which created the An'dyn region from ashes and dust and turned it into a mythological breeding ground for the newly-formed kin'toni'ati race, some of which resided in this newly created region; however, although he is not noted as the clan's founder he is noted as creating and founding the An'dyn region from smouldering ashes and dust.
This is why many Wyta clan members rejoice and pray to him. As the mythology behind this religion grew, so did the Wyta population in terms of turning zu'aan, who were also created and evolved from their predecessors and now extinct Zu'Aak race, which were essentially the primate equivalent of the modern zu'aan. This religion, often referred to as Wyzfimism, was considered one of the first religions to be practised by kin'toni, but those from other clans have questioned the legitimacy of the mythology that serves as the backstory to this clan's religion.
Calling it a parody of prehistory itself and shaming of a long-forgotten past, and that might also explain why not many clans in the kin'toni'ati world practice this faith.
Miscellany
As legend has it there was a group of primitives who were also considered to be a predecessor to the modern zu'aan, known as the Zu'Aak. These apes had green fur all over their bodies and sported fangs inside their mouths, but not many of them could walk upright on account of most of them being up to 1 and a half times larger in height and size than the modern zu'aan; however, they still had plenty of fruit to eat in the An'dyn region, so they never went hungry. Unfortunately for them, though, a large meteorite hit the region, turning it into a wasteland of ashes.
At one point in kin'toni'ati history and in the early kin'toni'ati timeline, the Wyta clan were considered the fiercest and most savage group of kin'toni in battle. Another thing to consider when studying the history of the Wyta clan is their ability to communicate with themselves and other clans. Although some kin'toni in the clan have gone insane and had to be put down and euthanized for their good, other kin'toni in this clan have gone to other regions in Terael as motivational speakers to promote a new kind of change to their kin'toni'ati world.
Leading some from other clans to wonder why, if anything, they would go so far as to travel to different places. Nonetheless, some of the kin'toni in this clan are often praised for their goodwill efforts when they return home. Three holidays in the clan are: Kraendai is a solemn holiday celebrated on the first full moon of autumn. It is associated with water, vice, an introduction and despair. It is also associated with dahlias, the colour violet, pigeons and ponies. Traditions include public nudity, feasting and signing of documents. Very few groups celebrate it differently.
Flod is a solemn holiday celebrated on the spring equinox. It commemorates a miscommunication. It is associated with a case of mistaken identity, a mystery, a specific bloodline and earth. It is also associated with carnations and albatrosses. Celebrations last eighteen days. Almost no groups of kin'toni celebrate it differently. Vakli is a solemn religious holiday celebrated on the first crescent moon of winter. It is associated with decay, illusion, defeat and greed. Traditions include the public and private telling of stories and declarations of intent. Many groups celebrate it differently.
The clan's flag is is a rectangle with two stripes of red-violet and dark green, and a diagonal bar of blue-violet from right to left. The emblem is a written phrase and a fist within a circle. The clan's motto is "Sovereignty from Courage" on in their tongue, "Shenna lia Mathel"
