History

The Kwasniiec city zu'aan were founded by an influential architect who went by the name Wulfricva Ssannso. She was one of the most remarkable architects of her time and was known for her masterpiece that was the Kwasniiec city. Like most of the clan's members, Wulfricva was also brought up on the surface of the Yeceblho Snowy Forest. The zu'aan of this region were known for their higher standards of living and their evolved knowledge of engineering and construction. This knowledge could be attributed to the cold, windy and wet conditions which necessitated the construction of structures and buildings in the region long before it was widely adopted by the zu'aan.

She had an early start in this world as the daughter of two architects who were regular members of the construction guild. She was enrolled into the guild as a young student and began to distinguish herself for her innovative ideas and designs. Her genius became her own undoing as her revolutionary methods were viewed with jealousy and suspicion by the older guild members and her competitors. The rift would only grow wider as she continued to develop and grow until she finally took the decisive step to leave the guild at the age of eighteen.

This barred her from taking up any construction projects with her former clan and their allies- depriving her of the opportunity to showcase her abilities. This ban would drive her to seek out other zu'aan clans who would allow her to practice her abilities. She would seek out a neighboring enemy of her previous clan in the mountains of the region who allowed her to design and build their new city. The chieftain was impressed by her ideas and confidence and would eventually agree to sponsor her project with labor and equipment.

Wulfricva's idea was for the construction of a new city that would be built into the mountain and would provide views from the unscalable cliff faces. She envisioned this city as a tourist destination with many facilities like motels, taverns and parks where tourists could enjoy their day like in any outside city. Her belief was that using this city as a tourist destination would help the clan earn back their investments. However, all the planning and hopes would unravel when the entire region fell under the grasp of the kin'toni outbreak.

This would make it necessary for the clan to repurpose Wulfrica's city into a defensive fortress. The city fulfilled all the necessary requirements for a defensive position- it was discreet and unnoticeable due to its location inside the heart of a mountain and also had very few access points that were easily defensible. She would make all the necessary adaptations to turn the place into a fortress as more and more zu'aan began to flood into the region for shelter and security.

The new city would become known as the Kwasniiec City and its resident would become known as the Kwasniiec City zu'aan. For all her contributions, Wulfricva would become the closest advisor to the clan and was honored as the founder of Kwasniiec city. She would also continue to make adjustments and additions to the city and would turn it into an impregnable mountain fortress by the end of the kin'toni outbreak.

Psychology

The Kwasniiec city zu'aan had many similar psychological traits to the rest of the zu'aan in the region. They took an unnatural interest in architecture and design and their region was known for the prevalence of buildings and structures. This was a product of their cold environment which necessitated the construction of artificial habitats to protect themselves from the windy and cold conditions of the region. They were historically more advanced than any of the other zu'aan tribes with regards to architecture.

They pioneered many methods of construction and design that would be adopted by many people everywhere. Their design principles reflected many of their deepest psychological traits. Their lines and cuts were made with precise measurements and aesthetic angles. It implemented both beauty and functionality and became the standard principles for designing structures in the region. The zu'aan of these regions had a high degree of hubris and considered themselves to be better than most of the other clans in the region.

They regularly tried to emphasize this point through their propaganda and diplomatic dialogues. When Wulfricva formed the Kwasniiec city zu'aan, she brough along some of these characteristic traits along with a new found hatred of her previous clan and guild. He would spread the word among the Kwasniiec clan about the proud and haughty zu'aan who were unwilling to accept her new ideas and were stuck in the practices of the past. She molded her new clan to be more accepting of revolutionary new ideas and practices.

This attitude allowed her to implement her new construction ideas successfully and gave the clan their impressive Kwasniiec city that was built into the mountains to avoid detection and contained most amenities that allowed them to survive without contact with the outside world. It was first intended as a tourist city with many facilities like motels, taverns and parks where tourists could enjoy their day like in any outside city. Her belief was that using this city as a tourist destination would help the clan earn back their investments.

It was repurposed as a concealed shelter halfway through its construction due to the kin'toni outbreak. With the completion of remarkable structure, her new clan would take over the reins as the pioneers and leaders in engineering and architecture. The clan would go on to produce many capable architects and builders who were personally trained by Wulfricva herself, and the inclination towards architecture would slowly become a part of the clan’s psychology. Their secure home city gave the clan a sense of security and confidence that was not common among other vulnerable sections of the zu'aan.

Their secure and undetected dwellings removed the need for constant battles for survival in the surface and made them detached from the hardships and conditions that existed on the surface of the world. This would slowly affect their toughness and survivalist edge. They became known as the most civilized and refined clan of the region and were known for sorting their issues out in the most peaceful ways possible. They naturally preferred nonviolent means such as dialogues and discussions rather than violence.

Culture

The Kwasniiec city zu'aan were known for their very advanced culture which was characterized by their intricate architecture and construction methods. This precedent was laid by their founder Wulfricva Ssannso who started the clan's infatuation with architecture. She was responsible for sharing many of her revolutionary ideas and techniques with the clan as well as the construction of their state-of-the-art Kwasniiec city that was intended as a major tourist destination before being repurposed as a concealed, defensive city to survive the kin'toni outbreak.

She would continue to teach and inspire many of the clan's younger generations who would continue to build on and add improvements and attachments ot their city. They valued aesthetic designs and regularly competed amongst themselves to find the best and most effective designs. These competitions were among the most prestigious awards that one could hope to achieve within the clan. These awards were very highly regarded and allowed the winner to gain more influence and fame within their society.

It was common for students to indulge in years of research and experiments in their attempts to win these awards. In turn, this led to the development of many new techniques and advancements in architecture. The Kwasniiec zu'aan clan were known for their fun-loving culture that involved a lot of celebrations and gatherings. This could range from celebrations for the entire clan or more private family gatherings and parties. The bigger occasions were intended for the entire clan and would be held with pomp and splendor.

They would empty their savings on the purchase of decorative lamps and designs that would ordain the city streets and keep them lit in varying colors for many weeks. This was a chance for many of the aspiring clan members to showcase their art and designs in the hopes of acquiring wealthy patrons and commissions in the future. The Kwasniiec culture celebrated many different events that could range from religious holidays to victories or the achievements of a fellow member. The more private celebrations could range from birthdays and weddings and were an important part of the clan's socializing routines.

Their culture was known for this very social nature. They spent most of their non-working hours in the company of their friends and loved ones while immersing themselves in drinks and food or interesting debates and discussions of the day. The clan's refinement also extended to their food which were among the best prepared and complex zu'aan food- requiring a range of spices, flavors and different styles of cooking. They were a culinary powerhouse and loved to showcase their range of diets. This was among their main tourist attractions along with their architecture.

Their homelands were regularly frequented by tourist zu’aan from all over the continent, looking to experience their exquisite gastronomy before the kin’toni outbreak essentially killed the industry. Their culture’s love for interaction and tourism was very obvious- in fact, their hidden mountain city had first been intended as a tourist spot that would host its own hotels and other tourist facilities but was only converted due to the dire circumstances.

Government

The Kwasniiec city zu'aan evolved through many different government types during the course of their existence. They were initially mired in tribalistic forms of organization prior to becoming the Kwasniiec city zu'aan. Their tribal leaders dictated all the clan's behavior and their policies towards other clans. They were quite authoritarian during this phase and their lifestyles and decisions were strictly regulated by the opinions of their leaders. These leaders were composed of the elders of the clan who were respected and revered by all their members.

There was no process of election to this group as any old and respected member with enough influence, automatically became part of it. They were policed by their own communities who were very quick to pounce on any clan member who violated their beliefs and practices. This chaotic and unorganized form of government was reformed once Wulfricva built the Kwasniiec city and renamed the clan as the Kwasniiec city zu'aan. The amount of influence and goodwill that she earned among the clan's members allowed her to subvert the authority of most of the clan's elders without any consequence.

The elders also noticed this changing trend and were forced to create a new system of government, keeping in mind the new attitudes of the clan members. She was slowly integrated into the clan's leadership and would eventually begin to take over most of the decision making. She proved her leadership ability during the kin'toni outbreak when it became evident that the elders of the clan were not prepared to handle the chaotic conditions of the times. Their slow and rigid decision making as well as their unfamiliarity with the dangers of the kin'toni convinced the citizens that it was in their best interest to have a decisive leader who could make quick decisions that did not compromise on their safety.

Wulfricva was the only logical choice for this role as she was already heading the clan's defensive efforts by her construction of their new concealed city within the mountains. She welcomed the decision and quickly assumed the role of the clan's supreme leader. She had the general consensus of the people behind her, and thus, none of the other elders were able to oppose her. The tough times and the need to survive made it necessary for the clan to adopt very tough measures- food and resources were rationed until they were firmly established in their new city.

Wulfricva was quick to establish a civil police force from among her most loyal supporters. This was necessary to keep the former leaders of the clan in check and to prevent them from organizing any dissent or making plans to subvert her rule. She was able to consolidate her rule in this way, and it became a common practice for the future leaders of the clan, to keep a police or military force at their side to assert their powers. Despite the increasing authoritarian nature of the government, there were little reasons for complaints as the clan was performing very well in most regards.

They were slowly becoming self-independent while having a secure home city and an architectural interest that was progressing by leaps and bounds.

Military

The Kwasniiec city zu'aan were not particularly known for their military prowess. They engaged in many small-scale tribal engagements prior to them becoming the Kwasniiec zu'aan clan. These conflicts did not require military organizations or tactics since they were mostly decided by numbers. This was the way in which wars were fought in the Yeceblho forest region- clans would muster their tribesmen and try to rope in as many of their citizens as they could before heading out to predestined locations where the two sides would meet over open ground for an all-out battle.

It was dishonorable for either side to engage in practices such as ambush or deceit and in most cases, the number on the field was a true indication of the number of troops at each side's disposal. The side with the larger army would usually emerge as the victor on most occasions. The Kwasniiec clan enjoyed a lot of success during these old periods because of their numerical superiority over most of the clans in the region. Warfare in the Yeceblho region would undergo a huge change during the kin'toni outbreak.

The new bands of kin'toni warriors did not subscribe to the combat traditions of the region; they attacked indiscriminately with no mercy while employing the most deceitful methods to mislead their enemies. The tactics and methods employed by the kin'toni necessitated the need to adapt to the changing conditions of warfare. The zu'aan could no longer expect their opponents to fight honorably and had to be prepared for all kinds of eventualities. This would start a revolution in tactics and warfare in the region as the zu'aan tribes began to adapt the kin'toni methods into their own ways.

The Kwasniiec clan were also part of this evolution. They slowly adapted tactics such as ambushes, traps and decoys and were successful in defeating most of the other zu'aan armies in this way. However, facing the kin'toni even with these kinds of tactics was still a dangerous prospect due to the physical superiority of these genetically engineered warriors. This phase coincided with the completion of their hidden mountain city of Kwasniiec. The clan would fully migrate into this concealed space and began to play a smaller role in the surface world.

They realized the futility of fighting the superior kin'toni and instead, chose to actively avoid these hordes. They relied on the protection afforded by the city for defense. Their city was not discovered for the entirety of the outbreak, allowing them to exist in peace. The clan began to move away from their military ways during their time in the mountain city. This was a measure taken by Wulfricva Ssannso, who feared that leaving the citizens with arms would empower them and make them capable of staging a revolt.

She still had a lot of former elders among the clan who harbored some jealousy towards her. She created a police force that was composed of clan members loyal to her. These individuals were the only people assigned weapons within their city.

Religion

The Kwasniiec ciy zu'aan followed many of the traditional beliefs of the Yeceblho forest region. Their beliefs were closely tied to the dense forests of the region where the zu'aan had settled for thousands of years. They believed that their gods and deities lived alongside their dwellings in the mist covered woods. The region had witnessed many famous shamans and holy men who led the people in the worship of their gods. These holy men would wander and live within the forest for months while they prayed and convened with the gods.

They would return with messages and commands that their gods had dictated for the zu'aan. Their word was taken for granted and no one dared to question their authenticity or methods. This was an age when the zu'aan were very ignorant about scientific principles and chalked everything down to the actions of their gods. They prayed to these gods for good weather conditions and plentiful harvest along with victories in battles and health for their families. They attributed natural calamities to the displeasure of their gods and offered regular prayers and sacrifices to please them.

These could range from grain and livestock to zu'aan sacrifices among the more savage zu'aan clans. The forests were filled with lots of cairns and hidden relics where the most devout members would come to offer their prayers. The representation of the gods of the region could range from zu'aan-like deities to animals and objects. Their gods were very well represented in their culture and could be found in many of the buildings, arts and structures of the region. They spent a lot of time and money in commissioning these intricate works that could take years to finish.

The Kwasniiec city was filled with statues and carvings dedicated to their gods. They adorned many of their halls and streets in gargoyle like stances. There walls were also filled with tapestries and paintings that traced back the origins of their gods. Their relevance of these gods slowly began to fade as the clan progressed through the ages and continued to make advancements in various fields. They were seen more as historical art pieces that had to be preserved for future generations.

Some of the most famous gods of their culture were their lightning god Trek, the god of agriculture Endar and the god of war Whayrack. Trek was one of the most prominent zu'aan gods in the region. He was usually portrayed holding a bolt of lightning which he used to strike down his enemies and to punish those who displeased him. He was responsible for the weather conditions and the climate of the region as well as natural calamities. Endar, the god of agriculture was responsible for the produce of the land and was worshipped among the farmer communities of the region.

Whayrack, their god of war was responsible for the fate of their warriors and was responsible for deciding the victors in battle. He was the most prominent god among the war loving clans of the region.
