Undmos Kin'toni Clan
Psychology
The Undmos clan were a prideful clan. They took pride in how they looked, how they parties, and how they followed their traditions. Everything they did, they did for a reason, and they would show it off to anyone who would listen. Because of this, they came across as snarky and uptight, seemingly thinking that they were better than everyone else. They took such pride in how they looked, spending hours doing their hair, and picking out the best clothing to wear. They would deck themselves out with as much bling as they could, liking how it looked on them.
They were incredibly vain about their appearances, wanting to always look perfect no matter what they were doing. While they were so good at throwing parties, they were terrible about how they would act. They were loud, obnoxious and they didn't seem to care when others would complain about what they were doing. They chose to ignore it, wanting only to enjoy themselves, and not overly caring what anyone else thought of them. Because of how much pride they held, the Undmos clan wanted nothing more than to show everyone how good they were.
They wanted to party with everyone they met, and show them that they were the best kin’toni around, and it was because of them being gypsies. When they would party, they would put any and all respect out of their minds, wanting nothing more than to enjoy and not caring how they acted. Because of their desire to party so much, they would be so extravagant about it, going all out and sparing no expense to do so. They would invite so many people to join them and they would do everything they could to impress. It was their hope that they would be able to lure more kintoni from other clans to join them and accept their ways, and they were determined to do so in any way that they possibly could.
Before they had changed to kin’toni, they were very much the same that they had always been. They were gluttons for food, alcohol, and partying. When the Shattering happened, they paused as they got used to having to drink blood instead of eating food, and that they weren't able to drink alcohol anymore without becoming sick from it. Instead, they quickly adapted, and they continued to be gluttonous. Their love for eating and partying did not cease for long before they continued again, wanting to use their newfound strength and abilities to party and to have their fun.
Everything they did, they did for a reason, and usually that was to impress more people in hopes that they could build their clan, and to have more people to party with throughout their days. They were proud of how long their parties could last now that they were kin’toni, and they fully intended to find out more of what they could do as the years passed and they continued moving from place to place.
History
The Undmos kin’toni clan is and always has been a travelling clan. Since the start of their clan, long before the infection happened, they had been travelling. For as long as they could remember, they had always been gypsies. It had always been widely known that they were gypsies and that they were loud, obnoxious, and over the top. They spent their time being extravagant, flamboyant, and they were known to party. As well, they were very stuck in their traditions, always following their rules and traditions down to the word as that is who they were.
If they didn't follow closely they were excommunicated and told to leave the clan. When the infection happened, it didn't slow down the Undmos clan. They barely seemed to notice the change, aside from no longer being able to tolerate alcohol. They would still party, they would still have their celebrations, and they would still be the talk of the town. This was what was normal for them, and they wouldn't change that for anything. When the Undmos clan had to switch over from regular food to drinking blood to survive, they took it in stride and found new and fun ways to drink the blood that wasn't just the same way every time.
Sometimes they would take shots of the blood like it was alcohol, other times they would hold a great feast where they would become gluttonous with the amount of blood they would consume. And the most frequent of all, was when they would trick zuu’aan into coming to one of their gatherings, and they would feast on them while they were there. This was how they would get more than their daily needed blood, and other kin’toni clans would come to join them in their parties so long as they were allowed to do so. Many of the parties the Undmos clan held were ones that any other kin’toni could attend, as long as they were able to keep up with the gypsies.
However, when it came to birthdays, weddings, funerals and other family type celebrations, they would keep it to only the members of their clan, and sometimes they would keep it to just the close family. Each of these celebrations, save for the funerals, would turn into large parties, as that was customary of the gypsies. They would celebrate anything that they could, and the celebrations would go on through the night and into the next day in many cases. They would be over the top and loud, music blasting for hours.
Since the Undmos clan were travellers, they would carry their homes with them. They lived out of large tents, made of lightweight fabric and strong wood, ensuring that they would withstand any weather that they were built in. There were a few large tents that they would use for their parties, and the rest lived in smaller tents scattered around those. Usually, they would stay in one place anywhere from one week to two months before they would leave to travel to another place.
Biology
It was very well known that the Undmos kin’toni clan took pride in their appearance. They would spend hours each day working on their hair, their makeup, adding bling, and making sure that they looked as perfect as ever. They wanted nothing more to show off how they looked to other kin’toni. Because of the way their style was, and how they had so much gluttony, their bodies easily reflected their lifestyle. They were short people, and they carried enough extra weight that it pooled around their midsections. While they didn't care what they looked like, they would dress to accentuate their bodies and show off more than enough skin.
When they partied, they would dress up as much as they could, showing off who they were through their clothes. Since they spent most of their time walking from place to place while carrying their homes on their backs, as well as spending days upon days partying as much as they possibly could, they were a strong clan. Their bodies, while small and pudgy, held enough strength and stamina to keep them going for as long as possible. This, on top of the fact that they were gluttons for blood, meant that the more they ate, the more strength and stamina they would receive, and they would use that to their advantage.
While they could use it to continue moving, and carrying more, they instead used it to continue partying and playing around, choosing quality of life over any and everything else. Not only were they pudgy kin’toni, they also had eyes that suited their style as well. Each of the kin’toni of the Undmos clan had eyes that looked like beautiful rubies. They were a sharp red, and they glittered as the sunlight hit them. They were quite transfixing to look at as they were paired with the Undmos clan having light skin and glittering gold hair.
The combination of their features should've been enough to cause them to look like the most beautiful kin’toni that there were, but the way they did their hair, and the way that they dressed caused them to look as though they were children that had just learned how to play with their mothers makeup. Since they were so prideful in their appearances, they didn't seem to notice that the combinations of what they were doing was causing them to look as horrifying as they did. They would consistently wear clothing that was too small and squeezed them in, and they would paint their faces with so many layers of makeup that it was hard to truly tell what they looked like underneath all of it.
On top of that they would do their hair in big and extravagant hairstyles that would add up to a foot to their height. Also, it would end up taking them hours to complete as they were always trying new ones that would require more than one person to accomplish. All in all, the Undmos clan were very vain about their appearances, and that showed in their everyday looks.
Culture
Since the Undmos kin’toni clan were gypsies, they had many cultural practices and existing traditions that went back generations. They were proud of their traditions, ensuring that they always followed them to the word, wanting to make their ancestors proud that they were living their lives just as they did. No matter where they were, or what they were doing, the Undmos kin’toni gypsies always had time for their parties, their beliefs, and their traditions. They had traditions and rituals that they would perform for just about everything from marriages, to birthdays, to funerals.
Each of these were sacred, and would have to be performed right down to the word, or the gypsies believed that they would be cursed, and whatever ceremony they were going through would have to be stopped. If they were to continue with what they believed was a cursed ceremony, they would all be cursed, and they wouldn't have good fortune, or a good future. Because of how serious they were about their ceremonies and their rituals, always ensuring that they were done properly, they had always had them planned right down to the minute. They wanted to make sure that everything was done correctly and properly, in a way that their ancestors would be proud of them for.
Marriages, being the most sacred of all, were the most subjected to certain traditions. They would take place for any members of the clan that were aged 16 and above. Each marriage would have to be accepted and allowed before the families were able to start event planning the wedding. Other times, there were arranged marriages as some families were only interested in marrying off their children for the benefit of business, or to keep certain bloodlines in their families. Because of this, there were many first sight marriages that would take place.
This meant that the bride and the groom would meet at the altar and they would get to know each other at the ceremony after they were married. This type of marriage would usually only take place when there were gyspy children that didn't hold the intention of finding someone to love and marry for themselves, or if their families believed that they hadn't been choosing the right people in their eyes. It was not uncommon for kin’toni outside of the clan to marry into the clan, adding to their numbers and ensuring that they would have a more diverse bloodline within the clan.
When the Undmos clan would hold their celebrations, they would plan them with the intention of going far over the top with their decorations, and how long they would party afterwards. While they would keep the celebrations to clan only, they would still try as hard as they could to be over the top. As well, they would make sure to trick some zu’aan into coming, or go hunting before, so that they could have as much blood as they needed for everyone.
Government
Whenever the members of the Undmos kin’toni clan were unsure about their laws, they would go to the elders that they had within their clan to make sure they were following the laws properly. The elders themselves prided themselves on how they were able to remember what the laws were and how they were able to ensure that the members of the clan were following them. They were the only ones in possession of the original law books that the clan had long before the Shattering happened. They had made sure they were able to keep at least a few copies of the original laws so that they could follow them properly.
For generations, the Undmos clan had followed the same laws. No matter how outdated they had become, they never had any intention of changing and/or updating them because they believed that they didn't need to be. There were rules they had stopped following, as they had no longer applied to how the clan operated. The elders would always ensure that they were able to pass the laws on to the other members of the clan, and that anyone that entered the clan would have to sit down and learn their laws and rituals.
It didn't matter how it would take, the new member, or any member that didn't know the laws as well as they should would have to spend countless hours learning the laws until the elders were satisfied that they knew them. Of course the elders of the clan couldn't live forever. They were just the oldest members of the clan, and once they were closer to their time to pass away, they would have to find another older clan member that would be able to take their spot. However, they wouldn't just pass this on to any member. There were tests that the members would have to pass to ensure that they would be able to properly lead the clan and keep them safe.
They would be tested on their knowledge of the laws, and their ability to recite them at will and on command. This way they could ensure that the new elder would be able to properly help and assist in the upkeep of the clan. The elders were also in charge of accepting the marriages that were presented to them, as well as allowing for celebrations and parties to happen. On top of all of this, the elders also held the duty to ensure that when they would travel to new places that they would have blood readily available to all of the members of the clan, as well as ensuring that they wouldn't consume too much and become gluttonous with the desire for more blood.
They would have to watch closely and make sure that everyone was consuming a safe amount, and that everyone was able to access the amount of blood that they needed before anyone else was allowed to finish off the excess.
Military
The Undmos kin’toni clan was a fairly traditional clan. Everything that they did would follow strict traditions and rules, and that followed heavily into their military. As soon as male kin’toni were old enough,, they were sent to go and learn how to fight with the military. They were made to learn everything from proper sword fighting, right down to the proper footwork that they were supposed to use when they were fighting. This would ensure that they knew what they were doing when they were fighting, and that they would have a higher success rate in their battles.
Since the female kin’toni weren't allowed to join the military, they would be the ones in charge of sewing the armour and securing the handles onto their weapons so that they could practice without having to worry about anything like that. The men liked to have their armour and weapons in order before they were meant to go and train, and especially before they would have to head into battle against other clans, and against zu’aan. While in everyday fights they would use their fists against each other, while they were in battle they would ensure that they had their swords and shields readily available on their person.
It was also widely known within the clan that anyone in the military were not allowed to use the fighting techniques that they had learned to fight regular other kin’toni. They were seen as too skilled, and if they were caught using those techniques on someone who didn't also know how to use them, they would be jailed as it was seen that the fight was unfair. The only exception to this rule was if a member of the military had to subdue two fighters that were fighting each other too heavily and they weren't showing any signs of stopping. Aside from this, the military in the Undmos clan were, by law, only allowed to use their knowledge in battles.
When the military would ship out to go and battle, they would always ensure that they would leave a dozen or so fighters behind so that the village had protection in case other clans had come to attack them. While this was rare, it did happen, especially when other clans felt disrespected by the Undmos clan, and felt the need to send a small army after them to fight on their behalf. This would usually start in the middle of the night as the other clan would try and surprise the Undmos clan in hopes that they would be able to walk away with a clean victory that they could show off back in their own villages.
However, they would rarely get the chance to get a sneak attack since th Undmos clan lived in such thin tents, they would be able to hear the other clan coming and talking about their plan of attack, giving them time to get ready and get into their defensive positions.
Religion
Religiously, the Undmos kin’toni clan believed that the stars would guide them while they were travelling and moving around. They believed that they could read the stars differently than anyone else and that this gave them an advantage in always taking them to new places to camp. The elders would sit down and the would look at their charts of the stars as well as looking up into a clear night sky, and they would plan their routes accordingly. Always ensuring that they would see new places and visit new clans and kin’toni. While occasionally they would see some of the same clans.
They were still in a different place in their minds, and thus they would go about their routines of partying and celebrating and having good times. On top of following the stars and thanking them for their journeys, they also believed that the winds could talk to them, and that the sun and moonlight would give them messages. While they were travelling, if there was a gust of wind they would stop and listen to see if it contained any messages about where they were going, if they were safe, or anything of the sort. As well, they would watch the moonlight to see if the moon was trying to show them something that they were supposed to see.
Such as a danger that they couldn't quite make out at night. If they were warned to avoid something, or to go a different path, as soon as they were alerted that they were safe, they would thank the wind, the stars, the sun, or the moon for keeping them safe and out of harm's way. Usually, the Undmos clan would leave out offerings for the elements as a way to thank them. They would leave out flags or papers for the wind to play with, allowing it to take their offering wherever it wanted to. They would leave out reflective objects for the stars and the moon so that they could see their own beauty.
And for the sun, they would set up a fire pit and would add very flammable objects so that should the sun want to, it would be able to light a shrine for itself and enjoy the view of it. The clan would usually perform these rituals, giving the elements their offerings as soon as they reached the new place that they would be staying, wanting to make sure that the first thing they did as soon as they arrived safely, was to thank the elements for helping them get there safely.
While the clan would follow the sun, the moon, the wind, and the stars on their journeys, they were known to avoid the other elements, viewing them as a bad omen. If they were walking and it started to rain, or if they were tripping consistently over the terrain, they would immediately change their course and head for somewhere more safe, believing that they were being told that they weren't welcome there.
