History

It had been known for a long time that the Kin’ire kin’toni clan was a rebellious and loud clan. They had always liked their parties, and they also didn’t like conforming to the norms that other kin’toni did. They did what they wanted regardless of what other kin’toni clans thought of it. They knew that they did things that others wouldn’t approve of, but it wasn’t something that bothered them. The members of the clan would hold their heads high as they did whatever they wanted. This included taking forest animals as pets and refusing to drink the blood of the zu'aan.

Because of these beliefs, they were a lonely clan, but as they moved to Inawar barren lands, they noticed that they weren't the only clan that lived there. There was another clan that dominated a piece of the land, and although they were there, the Kin’ire clan still kept to themselves. They would avoid the other clan so that they could live their lives and do whatever they wanted to. When they decided that they would train the surrounding animals, they thought they would have wild pets and that would be the end of it. However, what happened was much different.

As they had started to train some of the large wolf like creatures that frequented the area, the wolves seemed intrigued with them, and soon there were many that showed up wanting to spend time with the Kin'ire clan. The wolves would eat out of their hands, and they would follow their trainers around and spend the night with them as they were nocturnal animals. When the kin’toni would go out beyond the limits of their village, the wolves would go with them. They would guard them, especially as there were members of the clan that were the fighters, and the wolves would fight alongside them.

Sometimes the kin’toni would equip the wolves with their own armour to protect them and make them look scarier in hopes that it would scare off any other threats that could come their way. As time went on, the Kin'ire clan had developed a reputation as the clan that had tamed the wolves. They were known well for this, and when they would travel, other clans would watch them pass and talk amongst themselves, almost as though they were trying to figure out how the clan had been able to tame such wild and dangerous creatures.

The Kin'ire clan would be wildly sought after as other clans would want to take animals of their own, but they refused to share their ways with other clans. They didn’t want to share their secrets because they wanted to be the only ones that knew how to tame animals, as it was one of the things that defined them as a clan. Whenever the other clans would come to them and ask how they were able to tame the animals, they would say that it just happened instead of offering any sort of advice because while they didn’t want to share their tricks, they also didn’t want to get anyone hurt.

Psychology

Since the Kin'ire clan was rebellious, they did things that other clans wouldn’t dare to, and that started with their taming of wolves. They didn’t think that they had to conform to what other clans did, as they didn’t want to be like everyone else. When they decided that they would do whatever they wanted, they started by renouncing the drinking of zu'aan blood. Instead, they purchased alternatives from other clans so that they could continue to survive, and it was something that they were proud of doing.

As they had started their journey into taming their wolves, they were excited to have pets that could also protect them. They had initially wanted to use them to help with their homes, having them carry or pull building supplies, but eventually they realized that the wolves wanted companionship, and they couldn’t bring themselves to force or train them to work. They had always made a point to respect the animals, letting them choose whether they wanted to work or even if they wanted to live where the Kin'ire clan was.

Usually, they would let the animals return to their usual homes during the day, that way they could hunt or do whatever they wanted to, but most times the animals would stay there with them and provide them with companionship during the night. Occasionally, there were times when the members of the Kin'ire clan would go through depressive states. This would come on because they felt that they were alone in their beliefs, and so they didn’t have anyone but their fellow clan members to talk to about how they were felling. Because of this, they would each have at least one wolf that would follow them around and keep them company.

This would help them to feel as though they weren't as alone, and so they would feel better when they were getting their tasks and chores done around the clan. Since they had decided that they wouldn’t be drinking zu'aan blood to survive, they had to learn to adapt and in doing so, had to deal with the major mood swings that came with changing their diet. When they decided that they wouldn’t need blood to survive, they went through some major emotional changes. Many of them had gotten depressed and started to think that they would never end up being as happy as they truly wanted to be, while others would end up bursting out in a fit of rage over the simplest things.

Each of these things was hard for the other members of the clan to watch as they wanted nothing but the best for their clan mates, and so watching them going through harder times was the drive that they ended up needing to find food that would work for them and make the feel better. Eventually this worked and the clan was able to go back to feeling good about themselves and their clan.

Biology

Since the Kin'ire clan had moved to Inawar Barren Lands, they had been plagued with the need to find their calling. They had tried many different things, such as farming, travelling, and even performing, but they hadn’t found anything that stuck. Some of the things that they had tried had caused them to get injured, and so they weren't able to continue doing them. The injuries were usually small and had only caused scars, but there had been some kin’toni that were stuck with deformities as they hadn’t had the medical knowledge to properly fix them.

Because of their deformities, some of the kin’toni had ended up unable to do the same things that other kin’toni could. Some of these things that they couldn’t do were essential to their survival, such as getting food and helping to build their shelters. These were things that they knew they needed to help with but were unable to as some of them didn’t have some limbs or weren't able to lift things to help. This caused them to become depressed, but they were eventually able to find the things that they were able to help with, and thus they were able to contribute more to their clan.

The members of the Kin'ire clan weren't the most beautiful before the the infection set in. They had been a fairly mixed group of zu'aan, and when they were changed to kin’toni, this only seemed to get worse. There were members of the clan that had longer hair than others, and this was not something that was unique to a specific gender. There were males with hair falling down their backs, and females that would have hair that was cut short as that was what they wanted. On top of this, the members of the Kin'ire clan had figured out how to use clays and dirt, as well as some of the plants that grew in the area to make paints that they could use on their faces.

Many of them favoured the black paint around their eyes, as this made their eyes darker, and thus made them look more intimidating. As well, they used red paint to make it look as though they had blood on them, and this was to ensure that they wouldn’t be asked about their eating habits, as well as to make it look like they had been battling recently. If they were going anywhere with their wolves, they would use the red paint on them as well as they wanted to look as intimidating as possible so that they would be left alone by other kin’toni.

For the most part, this was effective as other kin’toni weren't able to tell if they were covered in actual blood or if it was fake, and most of them didn’t want to find out as they were convinced that they would end up getting hurt or even killed for asking.

Culture

Since there was so much that the Kin'ire clan did that was different from the other clans, they had adapted a very different culture. Their days were set up in a very different manner than any of the other clans they had met before. This meant that they would do things that other clans wouldn’t, and sometimes, things that other clans couldn’t. They were very proud of how they lived their lives, as they truly believed that everything they did was unique, and for the most part, they were right in believing this. As it had been known, the Kin'ire clan had wolves that they had managed to tame as pets.

These wolves would follow them around through the night as the clan went around doing their daily chores and other tasks that they wanted to do. It was widely known by the clan that since they were rebels, that they didn’t follow a traditional routine. Many of them would spend their days doing whatever they wanted, but they had always managed to complete what needed to get done. They would always have their tasks done, but it always looked as though they were lounging around and taking their time with things. How their days were set up was different each day as they would wake whenever they needed to, and then would take their time before they would go about their day.

They would eat their breakfast in their own homes before they would leave to go and get their chores done. Usually, when they would leave their homes, they would call to their wolves who were either waiting in the village or were in the surrounding area waiting for them to be called. Once their wolves were there with them, they would set out with their companions, and they would do whatever they needed to get done. Sometimes, the wolves would leave them while they were working so that they could go and hunt for food before they would come back to follow their favorite kin’toni around.

Since each kin’toni from the Kin'ire clan had at least one wolf that would follow them around, they would feel an obligation to take care of their wolf. While they would allow for the wolves to go out and hunt for themselves, they would keep food around the village for them too so that they didn’t have to go far to find food when they needed it. As well, they would bathe their wolves as needed, meaning if they were to paint them for their travels, they would make sure to wash the clean once they come back to the village so the wolf wasn’t stuck with paint in their fur as that could make them uncomfortable.

It was known by the clan that they would take better care of the wolves than they did themselves as they always wanted to show their gratitude to the animals that provided the with their companionship. They would essentially worship the wolves, and were always thanking them for their help.

Government

There were many things that were different about the Kin'ire clan, and their government was one of those things. There were laws that they had that other clans most likely didn’t have, or there were things that they considered illegal that weren't illegal in other places. The laws that the clan held were things like they had to take care of their wolves, or they would be taken away, the members of the clan were not allowed to take on too much work as there was always more time to get things done, and their most important law which was that there would be no consumption of zu'aan blood.

If any member had been caught breaking any of these laws, they would be subject to being jailed in their homes, their wolves taken, or they would be executed because they had drunk zu'aan blood. Since they had outlawed the drinking of zu'aan blood, they had to come up with a better solution so that they could survive. This meant that they had to find something they could eat that would give them enough nutrients. What they had ended up finding was animal blood. While it wasn’t the best alternative to zu'aan blood, it provided enough nutrients for them to be able to survive.

As well, they were able to obtain more of the animal blood than zu'aan blood as it was easier for them to hunt the animal. Also, since the wolves also ate the animals, they would bring some of the animal meat back to their village and they would store it there to feed to the wolves when they were unable to go out and get their own food. While they had laws that they had to uphold, they also didn’t believe in having one set leader. This meant that they would all have a say in how the clan was holding themselves, and each time a new member was leading, they would have the option to change things as they saw fit.

While this would usually mean that a member would abuse their power, the members of the Kin'ire clan were usually respectful, and they would do their part to make sure the laws were upheld, and then they would change what they thought needed to be updated. As well, there were laws in place that ensured that as the leaders rotated, that they weren't able to change all of the laws each time they were in power. They would have to keep most of the laws the same, and if they wanted to change them, they would have to call a meeting with each and every member of the clan would be able to have their opinion about any changes.

This made it so that the leaders wouldn’t be allowed to have too much power, and at the same time would keep the rest of the clan safe. The laws that were changed were able to be changed as soon as there was another kin’toni in charge so that things could always be kept fair.

Military

While there was a rotating government in the Kin'ire clan, they did not have a rotating military to match. Instead, each member was required to have some training under their belt so that they would be able to defend themselves. Since there wasn’t a need to have a large military, the members of the Kin'ire clan didn’t have one. They didn’t believe that they should spend so much time working out and training if they weren't going to be battling with other kin’toni clans. So they would make sure that they had some training, but they wouldn’t be training all of the time because they felt that if they did they wouldn’t have time for other things.

When they were training, they would make sure that they would be able to use whatever weapons that they had on hand, these usually being swords and shields as those were ones that they had saved from when they had been zu'aan. Aside from that, they would make sure that they would be able to fight in their armour, as well as being able to fight in sync with their wolves so that they could defend each other effectively. They would spend a few hours each week on training so they would be able to remain fit and ready to fight should anything happen.

Since they had the wolves by their side, they were able to keep attacks at a minimum, as many other clans didn’t think that they would be able to contend with the wolves as well as the other kin’toni. The Kin'ire clan would use this to their advantage as they believed that the wolves were their best defence against attacks. What they didn’t want anyone else to know was that the wolves didn’t like to fight unless they were heavily provoked and angry. The Kin'ire clan had been able to tame them so that they would snarl and look intimidating, especially with their armour and red paint, but they didn’t train them to attack.

They didn’t believe that they should attack unless they absolutely needed to, and because of that, other clans knew that they were safe around the Kin'ire clan unless they had provoked them. Eventually, they became more known as the clan that was guarded by the wolves. Other clans knew and accepted that this clan was not to be bothered as they had an advantage in their battles. There were some other clans that would ask if they could hire the Kin'ire clan as intimidators for their cause, or so that they could appear bigger and more intimidating before battles.

The Kin'ire clan would decline these offers as they preferred to be neutral and because they wouldn’t partake in any sort of fighting. They would do it if they had to, otherwise they would avoid having to fight and they would stay back at their village.

Religion

Religiously, the Kin'ire clan believed that their wolves were sent to the specifically. They believed that the wolves that had chosen them had done so as an act of choosing them for a bigger purpose. Because of these beliefs, they would cherish and worship their relationship with the animals, and they would go out of their way to make sure the wolves were taken care of. This meant that they would bathe, feed, water, and walk the wolves whenever it was needed, and they would make sure that their wolves were well groomed. When they would bring back blood for their clan, they would bring back some meat for the wolves so they could feed it to them, and in doing so, they would gain more trust from the wolves and grow closer to them.

While the members of the Kin'ire clan understood that they weren't able to speak to or understand the wolves, they would still do what they could to have the wolves make choices of them. When they were trying to decide on where they would go hunting, they would let the wolves lead them as that would ensure that they got to the right spots. When they weren't sure if another clan was a threat to them, they would watch the body language of the wolves to see how they reacted, and thus they would know how to react as well. When they didn’t know which way to go when they were travelling.

They would rely on the wolves’ powerful sense of smell to lead them in the right direction, and when they needed to find members of their clan, or another clan, they would use their wolves to track them. After each of these things that they would get their wolves to do, they would thank them and give them meat as treats to show their gratitude to the wolves. As well, they would pet them and talk to them as if the wolves could understand what the kin’toni were saying. This showed the wolves that the kin’toni were loyal to them, and that they would take care of them to the best of their abilities.

Sometimes, the Kin'ire clan would spend time laying with the wolves and just enjoying the day as this would help them bond to one another. Other times, the kin’toni would follow the wolves around to gain a better perspective on their lives, and what they liked and didn’t. When the kin’toni would come back, they would share their findings with the others so that they could adjust their ways to better suit the wolves. When a wolf would pass away, the Kin'ire clan would hold an extensive funeral for the animal. They would each pet it and thank it for its service to them before they would bury it.

When they did bury the wolf, they would bury it with whatever meat they had left in the village. As well, they would give the other wolves as much time as they needed to grieve their fallen friend as they understood how hard it was to lose a friend or family member.
