History

The knights clan is one steeped into the history of the very land itself, they are truly kin'toni nobility. Drawing a long history of members that are recorded to have been present in the forging of the very first kin'toni nations and the fielding of the very first host of kin'toni soldiers. The knight clan has seen it all, at times they have been completely destitute with little more land than an acre to their name.

And although they have been successful at different times, they perhaps have never been as strong as they are today. Not only do they have algae standing army of their own but are known to command the forces of the whole Adon Kingdom. Although its is established that the Adon Armies are directed by the presiding monarch which changes with every decade as the kin'toni clans switch and alternate for the position of the leader, but without a doubt all the officers in the armies of the kingdom are that of the knights clan.

It is accepted that if an army is to be sent afield it must be trusted to the hands of the knights clan themselves or to the hands of one who has attended the teachings at their prestigious academy. The knights were not always such an important clan, and were a mere regular clan when first kin'toni kind began to truly emerge into the open world, and began to displace the zu'aan nations and armies. This was a marked change as the kin'toni had to transition from being killers in the night to soldiers in the battlefield.

Where earlier the knights clan had been inept at the shadow work that was needed to convert zu'aan during the dead of night and in shadow, they were equally adept at fielding armies and commanding troops in war. This ability seems to have always been contained within their lineage but was unable to show itself as the situation had never demanded the same to be the case. When kin'toni were transitioning to being an active military force, the kin'toni of the clan took this opportunity to convert as many army men from the zu'aan into their ranks.

The clan, with keen focus they targeted well decorated generals, rather than forcing them to convert and take up their fight, the knights clan adopted a much shrewder approach. The zu'aan of the Xerea Empire were embroiled in war and as such there were generations of warriors and generals that had spent their whole youth harvesting the crop of blood but were now forced to lay down their weapons in succumbing to the ultimate enemy of age and injury.

These decorated veterans were the ones that the knights clan leadership targeted, soliciting the generals and commanders with the temptation of a nearly immortal body and the ability to fight again and remain healthy. Several hundred warriors took to the kin'toni blood willingly and these formed the second generation of the clan which is perhaps the most important generation.

Psychology

The knights are characterised by many other kin'toni as being beautiful and noble, and that is perhaps their two most distinct facets or features, but those that have spent an age waging war with their kind use very different adjectives. To one who has been in close proximity to a fully qualified warrior of the knight clan converted through bloodline of the warriors, the words they use to talk about the knights clan are simply: Brilliant and subtle. Besides their exceptional beauty and chivalry that is easily spotted.

The knights are difficult to distinguish in behaviour from any other member of a kin'toni clan. However this view quickly changes for those that observe them long enough, even when considering the forces of the Adon Kingdom, it is easy to overlook the knights clan for the more flashier warrior clans that comprise of the warrior kingdom alliance, in comparison to the barbarianism of the Oola Kin'toni Clan and the skill of the Daera Kin'toni Clan, the knights kin'toni clan seems to be underwhelming.

However, this is a serious miscalculation for most of the victories that have been won by the Adon so far are squarely the contribution of the minds that sit in the council chambers of the castle at Swaynis Highlands. The organisation of five different kin'toni clans all specialising in different forms of warfare and residing in separate parts of the Erea landmass is a logistical nightmare from just the description of the arrangement. However to the leaders of the knights clan, it si simply another day at the job,

Their enemies know the importance of the knights clan and as such have begun to specially target their banners during engagements. This is the perfect exemplification of the level of their skill for they make the Oola clan seem to be a secondary target, and this in itself is an achievement of the Knights clan that will perhaps be written down in the history books when the history of Adon is created. Their nearly century long training at their fearsome academy in the swaynis highlands prepares them for the chaos of the battlefield.

In comparison to the Xerea Empire’s brilliant generals, the Knights spend as much time in only training as the old generals did in fighting all the battles of their career. This kind of training prepares them to react to even the most shocking of changes with the calm collectedness of a leader that is in complete control of the situation. It is difficult to tell the flow of the battle by observing the behaviour of the fighting knights general or commander, for he will react just the same as he would in defeat as he would in victory.

They are hardworking diligent, and humble, for these character traits are hammered into them through intense practice and study. Before completing their time at the academy, a commander of the knights is capable of fighting a whole war within his minds and note points of diversion with ease and comfort.

Biology

The knights are exquisitely beautiful, it is easy to tell the difference between a regular kin'toni and one that has adapted to be a part of the knights clan, in this way they display the unique ability of the kin'toni to adapt to not only according to their physical environment but just as much to their emotional state as well. The process of adaptation that has led to changes in the bodies of the knights are not the same as those of the kin'toni that are converted by the needs of their bodies, in this instance it is the change that is brought about due to a group effect.

It is unknown what the eldest forms of the knights clan looked like, for almost all members of the clan have altered to a great degree. The change is said to have been brought about by the conversion of the kin'toni to the clan during the second generation, at this time the kin'toni of the clan seemed to have abandoned their old forms in order to grow several feet in height and alter their complexion. The gold sheen their skin tone sometimes excuses is said to make them appear as if they were glowing with an inner light.

This golden glow is said to be particularly bright in the course of war and is known to be particularly helpful in inspiring and directing their troops but it just as well makes them vulnerable targets. In the past many kin'toni of the Knights clan were said to have been assassinated in the the course of war, and this caused complete chaos in the field leading to a humiliating defeat at the hands of those kin'toni armies that had mangled to sever the heads of the armies well before any true engagement took place.

The other changes that have come about in the knights are due to their diet, the knights diet during the time of their training at the academy which is where all initiates are sent upon confirmation into the joining of the clan or at the time of acceptance for training with the knight’s clan. There are perhaps two parts of the diet that is fed to the trainees that perhaps alter their biology in the most perceivable manner. These two ingredients are the Urkoth flower, which is mixed in with nearly all blood that is consumed by the clan initiates.

And only every other day for those only training with the warriors at the academy of war. The Urkoth flower is very toxic and a tolerance for it must be built over time but the capacity for it still remains limited, however those converted of the blood of the knights clan itself, there seems to be a much larger limit for toleration limit. The toxic flower when mixed with the blood is supposed to significantly alter the mental ability of the drinker, the higher the exposure, the more the growth.

The other dietary ingredient is the mral-kora’s blood which is supposed to lend courage and fierce loyalty. They have light green irises with white sclera and vertical slit pupil.

Culture

The Knights are a warrior clan and so for them the most important aspect of life is the conduction of war, in the clan there are several beaches within the clan itself that are said to spend years specialising in field of their chose study. Although all members of the clan are said to be able to conduct and regulate all the functions that are necessary for the successful conduct of war, after graduation and the earning of the mral-kora’s hide, almost all warriors of this clan choose to go on and pick an area in which they choose to specialise.

The society of the clan is based a lot around the categories that one chooses to specialise in, and the culture that is passed on from the elders to the young are the hard lessons learnt in war. Unlike many of the other kin'toni species of the Taerel, the Knights are technologically savvy, they are constantly trying to evolve new technologies to mimic the old fierce war machines of the Xerea Empire that the zu'aan so cherished. Since a great many of the second generation of the clan was drawn from the commanding corps of the Xerea Empire.

They are able to recall the amazing feats that were possible with the use of the machines that the zu'aan had constructed. In the times of conversion and then at the time of the Shattering, a lot of knowledge about the technology that fuelled those fierce war machines were lost, however the Knights have continued to flow resources into the development of new methods of building those machines, however the difficulty of knowing the mode of function but being unable to apply the same technology due to how it affects both nature and other kin'toni is far more difficult than it seems.

However, progress has been made in certain categories, most recently they are the only clan that has evolved the technology involved in the creation of siege engines. The siege engines plans drafted by the Knights clan research group has proven to be instrumental in the Waging of war with the neighbouring kin'toni nations, besides the obvious skill and fervour of the kin'toni, it is the development of the siege engines that has led to several victories of the Adon warriors.

At present though they are limited by their inability to transport the siege engines, so they must be built where they are to be used, this means an extended time period in which they have to remain exposed in the battle. They are trying to craft siege engines of enough height that can easily be transported long distance but have faced little progress. Nonetheless, they are unlikely to give up, and are known to be working on projectiles that are to be powered by chemicals rather than the only force of the limbs.

The Daera have been particularly keen on the development of this technology and this has therefore brought them closer together both in terms of emotional connections just as much at the political affiliation that is ever crucial in all dealings between the clans that form the Adon Kingdom.

Government

The Knights are all naturally made leaders and as such their system of administration is extremely complex and can be rather slow in the decision and implementation of domestic affairs. When considering changes that are to be made within the Swaynis Highlands the knights clan is known to deliberate for several years, and this is not merely because of a difference of opinion but rather on how involved the system of decision making is within the Knights clan. According to the laws that the knights are known to follow.

Once a duty has bee given to a particular kin'toni, it is the duty of the kin'toni that the task assigned in completed with all the right considerations and with all the important facts in mind. In the online times when the landmass was still seething, the knights were in complete disarray, for every kin'toni that was assigned a task to look after eventually found himself posted to a distant land in command of a kin'toni host engaged in battle, and as such all communications with regards to the matter assigned had to be done by means of letters and runner.

Adding several weeks between the mere delivery of the messages. This method of administration has been severely criticised by several other clans but has continued to be applied by the Knights themselves, and this period of policy paralysis has nearly elapsed, as the kin'toni of the clans increase in number fewer of the elders are required to command armies and lead kin'toni into war. This has also meant that since all thinkers are accessible, several individuals are beginning to become very comfortable with the idea of debate.

And so although the time required for the transport of messages between kin'toni responsible for tasks has decreased, the process itself has shortened only slightly, as this is because the kin'toni are now deliberating for much longer. This slowness in making decisions is only ever visible when considering the matters that have a domestic significance for the kin'toni of the swaynis highlands, but when a matter that affects those not belonging to the clan, the matter is resolved promptly without ado.

This is because to the outside world the knights are completely inseparable and inalienable from one another. They appoint an elder to take decisions in matters that are involved with the kin'toni that do not owe loyalty to the highlands, this position of the elder is by no means a position of envy, as it requires countless hours of study and contemplation, and one who is chosen to ascent to the top leadership of the clan in terms of international matters that deal with the other kin'toni nations, they are denied to take command of the troops.

This is a grave sacrifice for the Knights live to command kin'toni in battle, so in originality it had been envisioned to be a position which would be voluntary it was now made into one which must be forced onto the kin'toni and even then many kin'toni have been known to challenge the decision.

Military

The Fa'akas clan is known to boast of one of the most highly advanced standing armies in the world of Taerel, and this standing army didn’t always exist. In olden time prior to the shattering, the Fa'akas were only concerned with the victory of the kin'toni over zu'aan. They believed that all of them would come together to sweep away the zu'aan from their shabby cities and become the complete overlords of the world. Up until this point, the Fa'akas saw no need to have their own army and instead trained all those that came to them and were found to be capable.

They expected no payment from the learner and maintained the academy and all its intimates on their own charge. The scholars of the time have come out to positively state that were it not for the education and training imparted to commanders by the Fa'akas clan, kin'toni kind would not have perhaps half as much land as they do at this moment. Then came the Shattering, a catalytic series of events that were not merely destructive but destructive enough to cause complete transformation of the kin'toni society.

What had once been a collective people divided into nations became a divided people in divided nations. The casualties in the battles of the Shattering were not limited to mere thousands but whole nations, complete kin'toni clans were killed off in the brutal fighting, and the Fa'akas were heavily affected. The Fa'akas had always been allies of all nations and thought about the kin'toni kind as a whole, hardly ever had they considered the political games that had other kin'toni participated in, so when the kin'toni nations alliance weakened.

Many tried to weaken the Fa'akas prior to battle given their importance in campaigns. Many Fa'akas were assassinated, the highlands were nearly overrun and the Fa'akas that remained had but little land left within the confines of their academy which is perhaps more accurately described as a fortress. This turn of events was hurtful for the Fa'akas who had never wanted to raise arms again the their own kind, and in this time they were rescued by a particularly brilliant commander called Valreal Axra that had but recently been converted to the Fa'akas clan.

And had yet to clear the fifty years of training that were necessary for the full initiation into the clan. Due to the severity of the situation, this kin'toni had to draw arms and enter the battlefield in spite of the centuries old tradition, and he was brilliant at war, fighting like lightning and thunder, he led the reclamation of the lands of Swaynis Highlands as he forced the kin'toni armies out of the region. He was not only a mastermind in the battlefield but one in the games of politics as well.

He shaped the perception of the clan that now allows them to engage with clans without the feelings of altruism that they had once expressed so clearly. This kin'toni is credited with the revival of the Fa’aka in the form they are currently present in.

Religion

The Fa'akas do not believe in a systematic form of religion with rituals and incantations like that of the people of the Itkal, but instead believe in the spirit energy of the kin'toni that have passed through the doors of death. The Fa'akas believe that the warriors that are able to live their lives with true nobility and honour are given the privilege of remaining in the world even after death. This is a belief that has been handed down through the soldiers of the Xerea Empire that formed the core population of the Fa'akas clan during the transformation of the second generation.

According to their belief, God is unconcerned with sins and vices, and although God is omniscient, God isn’t omnipresent. In their belief, God is able to see all things but does not actively involve himself in the changing of circumstances to bring about a situation that is fair or just. In this way, the Fa'akas live their lives with the knowledge that whatever it is that must be done, it must be done by their own hand and it cannot involve the intervention of God.

But, the Fa'akas also believe in a boon that God is known to grant those he judges as worthy upon the time of demise, this is the power to observe the world unmolested and to exact will upon it even in death. This boon is the ultimate goal of all the kin'toni in the clan, and the procedure laid out for the receiving of this incredible boon is very straight forward and does not involve any rituals or prayers but only honour. They believe that ultimately what matters to God is the nobility of the life led.

And honour kept, and this ideology in the past made made them very easy to be manipulated and used. In essence the religion that the Fa'akas follow tells them to protect those who are unable to protect themselves, to place the needs of the weak before the needs of the strong, and to ensure that those who break the laws of kin'toni are fought against. If the kin'toni is able to live their life in accordance with these laws, he is said have lived with honour, but the boon is said to be granted only to those that have not only lived with honour but died in it as well.

As such there are one of the highest number of martyrs in the Fa'akas clan among all the kin'toni clans. As most of the kin'toni in the clan continue to hold positions in battles that others would abandon, given this upsurge in the number of Fa'aka casualties, the auxiliary clans were founded. The axially clans now form the bulk of the standing army for the Swaynis Highlands, and most Fa'aka clan members are forbidden to directly participate in battle but are instead required to direct the war from a distance.

The religion of the auxiliary clan is sightly different from that of the Fa'akas clan for in their ideology it is not honour that is most valued but it is efficiency, and this off shoot of the Fa'akas clan was formed by the same kin'toni that helped reshape the fate of the Fa'akas clan.

Miscellany

The Fa'akas clan’s history is a deep and complex subject, after the repulsion of the forces that had invaded their homeland, Swaynis Highlands, there was a period of silence, during this time the kin'toni of the Fa'akas clan spent many a days in deliberation, while carrying out some of the most intense sorties into neighbouring enemy lands. They kept at bay another enemy force by ensuring that all the approaches to the highlands were thoroughly pillaged, the blood stock destroyed, crops burned and kin'toni chased.

During this period, even the nations that been the closes allies with the Fa'akas were not spared, the Fa'akas invaded and pillaged even their lands. All envoys were recalled and conversion activities significantly increased, all those that sought to come to their academy for training were made to swear oaths to join the kin'toni clan themselves, and many kin'toni needing to find the means to fight during the chaotic times of the shattering formed the third wave of the kin'toni for the clan.

There truly isn’t a lot of information available about the exact nature of what the deliberations were or rather the manner in which they proceeded. No outsiders besides those willing to join the clans were allowed the opportunity to enter the castle of the Fa'akas clan. When finally the shattering had passed and the kin'toni kingdoms had begun to stabilise, the Fa'akas ceased their raids into enemy territories and opened their borders. In this time much changes had been instituted within their homeland.

But the most definitive was that of the formation of a large standing army of kin'toni primarily consisting of off shoot clan members, who were kin'toni that were not held to a very high moral code and were rewarded heavily for their service. The standing army and maintenance of monetary resources for the axially clans meant that the Fa'akas needed an active revenue stream. In the past years, their raids had yielded them a lot of loot and though the loot was enough to have the process of the transformation of the clan begin.

It was by no means enough to allow them to remain at similar strength throughout the future years. So the came up with a different idea, one they had perhaps been hovering upon for a great long while, the Swaynis Highlands war college was made open to kin'toni from the outside of the world yet again, but instead of allowing the kin'toni to take part of the education at their own expense, the Fa'akas now began to demand a fee from the clan from which the kin'toni belonged.

Their fee is so exorbitant that very few clans are able to afford the cost and even then it costs them an arm and a leg, as such the number of kin'toni that are able to study at the college has continually remained much lower than the period from before the shattering. The fee charged to the clans that with commanders of the ilk of the Fa'akas are however willing to provide the necessary gold without hesitation, and so the kin'toni of the Fa'aka clan have not only done well but rather prospered in the new arrangement.
