History

The Bynysi Kin'toni Clan started in 4E 364 when a group of packs banded together for mutual protection. These packs lived in fear of stronger packs and bands. By banding together, they could be strong enough to defend themselves. At the start, the newly founded clan had 174 members. Using fear and intimation, they "recruited" kin'toni from the rocky, desert region they called home. Using those methods, they managed to grow to 243 members. The rocky desert had little in the way of resources. Soon, the clan ran out of kin'toni to press gang.

The clan decided to move to the nearby Zinewigar Scrubland. There, there was more food and fresh "recruits" for their cause. The journey across the desert took over a month. Those who lagged behind were left behind. When the clan reached the Zinewigar Scrubland, they settled near the River Lum. Once the clan settled at the River Lum, they started building their settlement. Their village and later town consisted of mudbrick pueblos. The clan was soon hassled and later raided by the local Mayrik kin'toni clan.

The Mayrik did not want people on "their" land. The Mayrik raids chipped away at the population of the Bynysi. One day, the leaders of the Bynysi had enough and planned their revenge. The Bynysi set a trap for the raiders using a large amount of blood as bait. The clan hid in the trees and waited. As expected, the raiders came to steal the blood. The Bynysi ambushed them using the scrubby trees as cover. When the raiders retreated, the clan followed them. The Bynysi slowly bled dry the Mayrik using repeated raids and pillaged their town.

After around a month, the remaining Mayrik broke into packs and bands that scattered to the winds. The Shattering's wars affected the clan. The Bynysi had to drive off or absorb packs and bands that came to the Zinewigar Scrubland to shelter from the cold. The clan's major war in the Shattering was versus the Za'va kin'toni clan. The Za'va wanted to claim the Zinewigar Scrubland for themselves. The Bynysi suffered heavy losses from this war. Using their greater numbers from absorbing bands and packs, they slowly ground the Za'va down.

The Za'va eventually decided to cut their losses and flee. They swore revenge on the Bynysi. The clan survived the Shattering by feeding on the fish in the river Lum. The post-Shattering times were mostly peaceful, the clan's reputation scaring away raiders and most invaders. The clan chose to ally with the nearby clan that moved into the region adjacent to the Zinewigar Scrubland. This alliance was to form a buffer zone between the Bynysi and the remains of the Za'va. The Za'va are slowly building their numbers.

The Bynysi are watching and waiting for the Za'va. As of 4E 500, the Ice Age is not affecting the hot Zinewigar Scrubland much. They believe the kin'toni fleeing south into their region are just fleeing from a war. The clan considers the incoming Ice Age to be just a silly rumor.

Psychology

The Bynysi clan's ancestors were psychologists and survivalists who studied the ins and outs of how a kin'toni functions, both internally and externally. They studied more than three dozen of their other cleanly counterparts throughout several generations after the government's actions bombed them back to the stone age two hundred and thirty years ago. Since then, only a handful of descendants have been able to teach and study the workings of a kin'toni from the inside out. One famous theory of the distant past that is still widely used by Bynysi kin'toni, the Light Allergy Paradox, explains how a Bynysi kin'toni experiences an allergic reaction to sunlight when not in darkness or the shade.

Once a kin'toni of this clan is touched by a significant amount of sunlight, it will start to sweat profusely and its skin will start to turn brown. If not out of the sunlight within a period of twenty-five minutes, the kin'toni's internal organs will shut down and the kin'toni will essentially burn to a crisp. Another famous and widely-used theory among kin'toni is the Ytmys Hrtyxmo (Bonsamese for Forest Dweller Theory). In this theory, forest and brushland-dwelling kin'toni must learn to survive in the wilderness by eating protein-filled leaves at night and drinking the blood of different forest-dwelling animals.

Such as the anthropomorphic Qunrx or the tall wildebeest-like Yb. Among other popular theories, one less-famous experiment done by a postmodern Bynysi kin'toni who was not well known revealed that forest and brushland-dwelling kin'toni are often also slightly allergic to pollen, although most times their allergic reactions to pollen in the air includes brief sneezing spells; this same experiment, known as the Ryxo Ziqros Effect, also concluded that forest and brushland-dwelling kin'toni are also intolerant of the cold to a degree. kin'toni from this clan often have as traits:

Emotional superiority, the feeling that one is better than others. As a personality trait, it goes beyond self-esteem and is associated with grandiosity and narcissism. More than normal for kin'toni curiosity, a natural inquisitive behaviour, evident by observation in many animal species, and is the emotional aspect of living beings that engenders exploration, investigation and learning. Selfishness, is, at the base, the concept and/or practice of concern with one's interests in some sort of priority to the interests of others and increased vulnerability to psychoses such as schizophrenia.

Biology

The Bynysi are adapted to the hot, dry and open Zinewigar Scrubland. They are tall, very lean and sinewy of build, with an maximized surface area for heat dissipation. Their limbs are long, as to aid in rapid, enduring pursuit across open, uneven terrain. The downside of this is that their bodies are not as strong, given the lack of muscle and not as tough, as they lack fat for padding. Their bones are only as strong as needed to survive fast movement. Their roughly, leathery skin is in shades of brown and tan, to hide in their environment.

The skin is coated in thin, dark brown keratin plates, thicker on the lower legs, knees and lower arms. This is to protect from the sharp bushes and abrasive sand. The skin's vascular network is highly responsive, able to quickly dilate blood vessels near the surface to aid with radiation and cooling the body. The skin has modified pain receptors that downplay low-level heat and surface burns. This mean that sun-heated brush or over hot rocks for longer periods do not cause pain.

The hair is short, sparse and white, adapted to reflect away heat. Their small eyes are amber, with an dense layer of chromatophores to protect from the harsh light of sunset and sunrise hours. The ears are very long and wide, with an pointed tip. The ears have large amounts of blood vessels to shed heat. Their noses are broad with large, exposed nostrils, adapted for maximized airflow for evaporative cooling. The noses lack the deep nasal passages needed for filtering fine sand. Their teeth are small and needle like, and are hollow to maximize blood drunk.

The downside of this is that the teeth are fragile, and if broken, the kin'toni's bite is hindered until the teeth can grow back. Their claws are long and sharp, and are translucent beige in color. These claws are used to dig into the dry, packed earth. This is done for shelter or catching burrowing small prey. Their feet and legs have organs sensitive to low-frequency ground vibrations. This allows them to detect the movements of small prey or larger threats moving beneath the sand. The kidneys are adapted to recycle metabolic waste as to lower fluid loss.

Due to this, feces are hard and pellet-like and urine is dark brown in color. The capillary channels in their teeth and the hemoglobin recycling glands are adapted to be very efficient, at stripping all available moisture from consumed blood. This aids survival in the arid conditions. Their healing is heavily focused on repairing dermal tissue damaged by thorny plants and muscle micro-tears. This means they recover quickly from environmental wear and tear. Their muscles are mostly slow twitch, alongside hormonal production that favors sustained energy release over rapid bursts.

This allows them to have exceptional stamina for long-distance running and tracking. Due to this, they struggle with rapid busts of strength or speed. The blood water volume is lower, and with dense amounts of red blood cells. This is an adaption to save on water.

Culture

In Bonsamese culture, it is common for a kin'toni dwelling in the woods to have a campfire with roasted fruit such as the weda and the ipfo, both of which are marshmallow-like fruits with an apple-esque exterior. It is also common in Bonsamese culture to rub two pieces of maq (kin'toni'ati wood) together before the campfire starts. Luckily for Bynysi kin'toni, it is easy for them to burn maq by rubbing two sticks together really fast and hard to produce smoke and then a flame. While the fire isn't necessarily of the sun it is common for one to remember that Bynysi kin'toni does not develop allergic reactions to fire or smoke; they do, however, develop an allergic reaction to warm water.

Once they are exposed to warm water they will start to break out in hives, but the only thing that can get rid of such an allergic reaction to warm water is the peeling of a banana-like fruit known as the fgeo on the kin'toni's skin. At which point the hives would immediately subside, thus preventing the body from going into shock. Aeons ago when the Bynysi clan's ancestors ruled Terael 's forests they would band together and start a campfire, then dance around it by jumping on both legs and rhythmically flailing their arms. The same holds today with their ancestors' descendants, but only in a different way; furthermore, instead of banding together.

The tribe leader will rub two sticks of maq together to make a fire while the rest of the tribe forms a pile of maq wood. During the night to quench their bloodthirst, the tribe will split up and look for giant wolf-like creatures called zaztu. After a Bynysi kin'toni has found a zaztu, they will gently bite into its veined neck, causing the zaztu to sit on all fours. Once the zaztu moves his neck up and down, the Bynysi kin'toni would then have to let go of the zaztu's neck, thus quenching his or her bloodthirst; after this, the tribe will then reform and look for protein-filled leaves to eat.

kin'toni in this clan have a holiday called Lam, which is celebrated on the third crescent moon of autumn. It commemorates a miscommunication. It is associated with jealousy, confusion, masculinity and cunning. Traditions include public decorations, marriage proposals, declarations of intent and contests of cleverness. A few sects celebrate it differently. A style in this clan features plain, form-fitting yellow-orange and pale blue garments. Tops are typically short sleeved with high necklines. Breeches and bodices are also customary. Chokers and pins are popular accessories. Red-violet, golden-brown, and pale orange are also common colours.

Government

The Bynysi clan governs themselves in the same way that a tribe would exist together in the woods. The oldest clan members are often the strongest. therefore, the oldest clan members are chosen to lead the tribe by leading rituals and dances in a way similar to ancestral tradition. When the oldest clan members can no longer be able to lead, they appoint their younger counterparts to the position of tribe leader. When one clan member of a Bynysi tribe notices an intruder or a group of intruders, the clan member that saw the intruder will tell the tribe leader and the tribe leader will assemble the tribe.

After this, the tribe will go together to look for the intruder(s) and investigate them by looking at the intruder(s)'s hand. If the hand has either one scar or no scar at all, the intruders would then be considered neutral with the Bynysi clan. However, if there are at least two scars on the intruder(s)'s hand, the intruders will be labelled a threat, at which point they would attempt to scalp those that intruded. If an elder leader of a tribe in the Bynysi clan is no longer able to lead the clan in their nightly activities and rituals, the outgoing tribe leader will summon their offspring.

If there is more than one offspring to the tribal leader, the second eldest of the offspring would be chosen to lead the tribe, with the other offspring leading the rituals and dances; however, if there is only one offspring to the tribal leader, the only child of the tribal leader will be chosen to lead the tribe, their activities, and their rituals and dances. When it is revealed that one of the tribe's members has committed serious wrongdoing, the tribal leader will interrogate the suspected tribe member, detective-style, by asking a series of questions related to the wrongdoing that was committed.

If the tribe member is found not to have committed the wrongdoing, the member of that tribe will continue to be able to participate in the tribe's activities. But if it is proven otherwise, the suspect will be isolated from the tribe and be forced to join a different tribe in the Bynysi clan. Laws of this clan include: The penalty for attacking a priest is execution. The penalty for an apprentice evading taxes on wine is a small fine. The penalty for a free man molesting a craftsman is a brief-term of servitude. A popular issue is an exploration/expansion and the government is stable.

Military

The Bynysi clan's military is more like a tribe than anything else—a tribe that sticks together, stays together, splits up to search for anything significant, and regroups to discuss what they found. This clan's military, known as the xuramu. has been known for its resourceful thinking and quick wit. This military, unlike other clan militias, has but one branch with an aforementioned name. Here in this section are three things that the xuramu does. When it is confirmed to the military's leaders that otherclanly kin'toni are attempting to take over the land, the military will act as a cohesive unit and carry their wooden sword and shield.

With them as they go in groups to various areas of Mprxil in search of the invading party. If they find that the enemy cannot be seen, the mission will be aborted for a time until one of the clan members can spot where the enemy is located and how it got there. Another thing this military does is meet with leaders of other kin'toni'ati clan militias in conferences that are conducted on the outskirts of Mprxil and determine what must be done to crush their enemies and align with their friends.

What is also important about this military is that each of the members of this military start out by carving their wooden sword and shield using the technology of the clan's ancestors. Most of the members when starting take just an hour to make their sword and shield, while some of the others take up to several times longer and are at times shown how to make their wooden sword and shield by those that learned how to make it. This army is known for its many lone-wolf champions and the use of short bows. They are also known for using lightly armoured units that use unusual tactics based on being fast.

They are famous for refusing to ever surrender and for giving aid to peasants they encounter. Each legion contains eight squadrons of twenty-five soldiers. There are two hundred kin'toni in a legion and there are three legions in the clan army. The first legion is called the Anyll ne ra Natia-Lakane (Legion of the nightwalkers), the second the Anyll ne ra Byat-Xrantue (Legion of the shadowbringers) and the third are called Anyll ne ra Uala-Cxadrane (Legion of the Blooddrinkers). They have a highly formal chain of command, with ranks based on family connections. At the moment, they are training a record number of volunteers.

Religion

The most common religions of the Bynysi clan include Ah'hani, or, the belief in the god the of water, J'kala and the good of the moon, Sha'he and a newly-founded religion known as Qaxo, or, the belief in the existence of a kin'toni's ancestors in their soul. Of the two religions that Bonsamese kin'toni believe in, Qaxo is the most appreciated, with Ah'hani often regarded as the nondenominational religion. Since there are no wooden houses in the brushland region of Bnaik-nar the Bonsamese often rely on the porous and protein-filled tree leaves from the many trees in the forest to block out the sun and keep them in the shade.

However, it is the epicentre of Bnaik-nar that serves as the Bynysi clan's place of worship, for each month the Ah'hani'a and Qaxonists of the Bonsamese clan gather together for a night of worship as they dance around a bonfire in the dead of night. During their time of sleep, the Bonsamese clan carves wooden portraits of their ancestors as a tribute to them and their religion of choice. Some of these wooden portraits are symbolic of the clan's culture and overall faith, as some of these portraits are portraits of the clan's founder, Belus Nalgorat, who is often worshipped by the Qaxon and Ah'hani'a communities.

Some devout Ah'hani'a and Qaxons often pray to Nalgorat in their sleep. When they walk at night with the moon shining bright, they often carry the wooden sculpture or carving of their ancestor or clan founder along with them wherever they roam. Even when in feeding mode they keep their wooden carvings close by to make sure they aren't accidentally stolen or taken by other kin'toni. Yes, it is indeed the wooden carving of their ancestral figure or god that they made, which they protect and carry with them everywhere they go. The symbol of the religion of Qaxons is a representation of an animal part (hooves, claws, etc) and is within a geometric shape

The holy colour is yellow and this religion is passed down via one holy book that is very old. The creation myth is about the world being by the dismemberment of a god. The origin of mortals is purely accidental. A major myth and symbols within it are the serpent, the sacrifice, creation. The Deadly Sins are pride, selfishness, recklessness, gluttony and indifference and High Virtues: bravery, kindness, moderation and selflessness. The worship is a joyous group of public sacrifices. The holidays celebrate past miracles, minor deities, historical events, full moons, major deities, the equinoxes, the solstices, new moons.

Miscellany

One last important thing to remember is that the Bonsamese clan are very judgmental of themselves and the surviving zu'aan population. Their opinions focus on their ancestors' revolutionary and rebellious attitudes towards the zu'aan population, which first came about around the time they rebelled against their creator, Belus Nalgorat. That's why the Bonsamese clan chose to live in the forest, with the main goal being to be as far away from the zu'aan population as possible. In this clan, the main export is cash crops and the main import is food. The main resource is mining precious metals.

In trade, they have more imports than exports. The strength of the economy is strong but declining. Wealth in this clan is fairly even, but with a wealth gap. The clan is known for its hospitality and popular entertainment is gossip. The most respected profession is a musician. Most discrimination is kin'toni clan-based. A major taboo: eye contact and a major social ill is infidelity. Superstition in this clan involves animals, and is very rare and viewed with suspicion. The literacy rate in this clan is sixteen per cent and the gender ratio is fifty-four per cent male and forty-six per cent female and the life expectancy is thirty years.

There are two important constellations to this clan, the first is called Xrae, These sixteen stars form the shape of a bird. The constellation represents a tale of betrayal. It is most significant on the spring equinox when it appears rising from the Northeastern horizon. It appears near the constellations representing a throne and a cup. The second is called Htanal, These seven dim stars form the shape of a crown. The constellation represents a figure from legend. It is most significant on the winter solstice when it appears low on the Southwestern horizon. It appears near the constellations representing a rooster and a wolf.

A stye in the clan is called Lihit, a style that features patterned, tailored dark bronze garments. Tops are typically long-sleeved with low necklines. Breeches and skirts are also customary. Skullcaps and chokers are popular accessories. Solid colours and spots are staples of the style. Pale violet, green-brown, and dark gold are also common colours. Children and adults wear very different clothing. The clans' money is one platinum klaet, which has the value of five gold aish and one gold aish is fifteen silver onnez. The clan's banner has eight stripes of alternating dark brown and sea green. The emblem is the sun and a lightning bolt.
