History

The Xalather kin'toni Clan ware originally turned from a stone-age zu'aan tribal group called the Likagi who came from the place that kin'toni now know as Goya Mesa. One hundred years before they were turned into the Xalather clan of kin'toni we come to know today they lived comfortably in the caves surrounding the region of Tiruir and stayed there to avoid the mass destruction of the planet's major kin'toni-stricken cities.

They were living in the caves and when some kin'toni ran from the Fall of the zu'aan they found the Likagi tribe. The Likagi were attacked and overcame by the kin'toni who turned them all. The kin'toni started calling themselves the Xalather kin'toni Clan. Over the next five years the newly-formed Xalather clan would take refuge in Cheyada and make their land their new permanent home, in fact, Cheyada, a land previously inhabited by what used to be the Likagi, was a place where other kin'toni clans gathered to discuss their plans for total domination of Terael.

It was also a place where the Xalather clan turned zu'aan at a rapid rate. There was a lot in a nearby now gone zu'aan city. This came to fruition during the Shattering in with they made war with the alliance of clan calling themselves the Carrion Eaters and lost around one thousand, five hundred of the four thousand kin'toni they had in that time, they killed around two thousand of the around five thousand Carrion Eaters. They did not give up and kept fighting, even though that is what caused most of their losses. In the year 4E 90, a plague struck this clan, during the Shattering, when the clan was weakened by war.

This had the effect of taking the lives of more than half of the clan's population at that timeband, those that survived found it hard to conquer a disease known as Rrert Rfhonfx or the Purple Sickness. It was a plague that killed most of those who got it, quickly, this limited its spread. If it had been killed more slowly, the plague would have spread more and would have taken more lives. This plague killed around two thousand kin'toni in the Xalather kin'toni Clan and more kin'toni of the clans that lived in the nearby regions. Eventually, through many exercises, the clan managed to conquer the disease.

An ice age that would occur three years afterwards eventually left the survivors in a frozen heap, killing many by a lack of food and by the time it was over less than three hundred kin'toni of the clan remained. After a period of reproduction, by turning new kin'toni, it is estimated that close to four hundred kin'toni of the Xalather clan remain today.

Psychology

Xalatherians, as each kin'toni in this clan, call themselves, are often very strong, hard-working individuals who do their best to keep their land safe and secure from all alarms; however, this clan also has been known to develop psychopathic tendencies, starting in the first years as kin'toni and as a result, most Xalatherians enter their later lives feeling uncomfortable in their skin, unsafe and insecure. Often it is true that their brawn is much better than their brains. As they find it difficult to trust each other from time to time; nonetheless, they get along with each other.

Interacting with one another in their own strange and unique way. For example, when they greet each other, they will generally start a conversation. By looking at each other's feet for several moments. Before a Xalather kin'toni begins to speak, a shock wave coming from the brain will go down the rest of the body, and the body will react accordingly. Once the kin'toni speaks, it will either grunt, whistle, moan, or hiss. Depending on what part of the body is moving. If the legs start to tremble, the Xalatherian will grunt. If the arms begin to shake a little the Xalatherian will whistle.

If it clenches its fists it will hiss, and if its head begins to shake in a twisting fashion the Xalatherian will moan. It is commonly rumoured by other clans in the kin'toni'ati community that the Xalather clan are prone to brief seizures, which can occur at any given moment before or after sleep; once a brief seizure occurs, the sufferer will begin to crouch down and enter a sitting position. Then grab his or her head with their arms and begin to convulse with their arms covering each side of their head. It ends when they take their arms off of their head and start to stand up again.

This can be fatal sometimes. As traits the clan shows Gregariousness, a personality trait characterized by the desire to want to belong to social groups and the tendency to enjoy group activities and working in groups and teams and Impulsivity, a multifactorial construct that involves a tendency to act on a whim, displaying behaviour characterized by little or no forethought, reflection, or consideration of the consequences. The clan also shows Narcissism, a love of oneself, and refers to the set of character traits concerned with self-admiration, self-centeredness and self-regard.

Biology

The Xalather are adapted to the harsh, hot, dry Goya Mesa. They are lean and wiry of build. Their limbs are long and slender for passive cooling. This allows them to stay cooler in the desert. The downside of this is being significantly less able to absorb impact from high-velocity blows or falls. The skin is dark brown in color, and thick and dry. It has an super-keratinized epidermis. These are adaptions for camouflage and to stop moisture loss. The hair grows in thick, short patches and is sparse and coarse.

The eyes are small and recessed and a deep bronze in color. It has heavy brow ridges. The ears are small, pointed and flat flat against the skull. These ears are coated in a dense, short hair dense, short hair to protect the canal. It has an thick layer of insulating, heat-resistant tissue around the cochlea to protect against the high ambient temperatures. The downside of this is being less able to detecting subtle, distant sounds. The nose is downward pointed, long, narrow and has nostrils that can seal almost completely into fine slits.

It has an thick mucus membrane used to re-condenses and retain exhaled moisture. The teeth are short, and blunt with wide, robust roots. These teeth are adapted for resisting the pressure of crushing small, hard-shelled desert creatures. These teeth have an dense, thick layer of hydroxyapatite (a natural mineral component of bone/teeth). This is to resist thermal expansion and contraction from temperature extremes.

The downside of these teeth is that being blunt, they are poor weapons, and the hydroxyapatite makes the teeth slow to regenerate if broken. The claws are tough, blunt and short. These are for adapted for gripping sun-warmed rock and scraping for prey. The windpipe and larynx are adapted with fine, internal filtering hairs as to stop fine sand and dust particles from entering their lungs. The claws have an tough, heat-resistant proteins in the claw matrix that allows them to be heat resistant.

These claws are brittle and prone to breaking. The hands and feet have pads that are composed of a heat-resistant keratin layer to allow for grip on hot rock surfaces without pain. These pads have poor traction on wet and icy ground. The armpits and groin have small, spongy organs that can condense minute amounts of water vapor from the ambient air. They also have small, highly specialized pockets of water-rich gelatinous tissue. Most are under the skin of the back and shoulders. These are for emergency hydration.

The lymphatic system is good at recovering and recycling essential salts and minerals from waste products. The blood has an high amount of salts and proteins as to reduce water loss via diffusion across cell membranes. The cells are adapted to be highly resistant to rupture or damage such as that of extreme cellular dehydration. These adaptions together allow them to need little in the way of drunk water. Under the skin are specialized vascular channels for circulating fluid used to cool the body by releasing heat in the shade.

Culture

The clan's language is a strange kin'toni language that is made up of a complex series of grunts, whistles, moans, and hisses. They live in caves as they did before and build walls made of bone for extra protection and to block out the sunlight. The making of weapons and armour out of bones taken from Tiruir is an imported rite of passage for new Xalather kin'toni. When they leave their caves to go for their night feeding, they will often look for a nalukai to feed on, with as many as three or four Xalatherians feeding on it at the same time. However, like other kin'toni'ati clans from across Terael.

They have learned how to bite gently into the skin so that the nalukai won't wince in pain. During the feeding process, the nalukai will go from an upright position to a crawling position; it is complete when the nalukai returns to an upright position, forcing the Xalatherians to let go of it just before it stands upright. Also, during the night, they travel to Tiruir to look for bones of decayed nalukai so that they can build upon their walls for extra protection and when it gets close to dawn they eventually retreat to their caves in Cheyada. By doing this they are better able to avoid sunlight.

A force that all of the kin'toni'ati clans are allergic to. During a conversation among other clan members, the Xalatherian will make a series of strange but common hand gestures. To which the other fellow Xalatherian engaged in conversation. With it will reply with several seemingly unorthodox hand gestures of his or her own; however, during conversations with kin'toni of other clans the Xalatherian will make a series of several strange hand gestures. Along with a whistle and a grunt. Also, note that most Xalatherians can interpret the language of other clans to their own.

The fashions in this clan are loose outfits in the colours of blues, greens and greys. Most are very tatty. One of two holidays in this clan is called Xrae, the holiday that lasts for one day from dusk to dusk on the full moon. It is associated with light, a sacrifice and a leader being assassinated. The other is Makia, the holiday that happens on the night of the three moons, this does not happen very often. It is associated with blood, a calling and darkness. The clan's flag is a rectangle with three stripes of dark red-violet, grey and burnt orange, and a rectangle of blue-green in the upper left-hand corner

Government

The Xalather government has retained order but unlike the greedy government of the Siorm clan, who just wants more and more, for they have little of their own. The Xalather kin'toni Clan's government is more interested in helping their people than being greedy. They are restricted by their lack of natural resources as a result of most of the clan not being able to withstand certain types of weather, like blizzards of snow or hurricane-force winds. The lack of natural resources means that the clans economy is very weak. But other kin'toni clans do not attack them so much, for they have very little to take.

This also means that the clan has very little to go around and has to share. They cannot have has good things in their lands, like a good gear in the army or their clan. In choosing leaders for the Xalatherian government, or Teofvor, the entire council will participate in a vote after each candidate makes his or her case on why he or she should be elected to the Teofvor. After both candidates have stated their cases, the leader of the Teofvor will host a show of hands among the entire council. Whichever candidate gets the most raised hands is declared a part of the council.

It is also important to note that in determining the head of the Teofvor it is often the eldest and wisest Xalatherian who assumes or is given this role, as the head of the Teofvor, or the qodca, he or she is responsible for leading electoral votes in the Teofvor, as well as in-council votes on important legislation such as new laws. Each member of the Teofvor, or ygba. Is responsible for suggesting new laws or important legislation whenever it is most important, and each ygba is also responsible for engaging in all in-council and electoral votes.

Which are normally done by way of a show of hands. If a particular law is not to a certainyuba's liking that ygba or council members can choose not to vote by making a complex bird-like whistle while raising their hand with all fingers clenched except for the pinky finger. Three of the laws in this clan are that a kin'toni that kills an outsider is fined in blood and a kin'toni that does a crime that can hurt the entire clan is to be exiled to the most barren places in the part of Terael they live in to stave and the penalty for plotting murder is the loss of a limb

Military

In what is known as the Xalatherian Order, the clan's weapons are bludgeons, shields and other weapons made from the bone of animals. and armour is made of large amounts of all the bones they can get hold of. The tactics of the clan are based on being able to withstand attacks and sticking hard. They are not very fast and agile, for their armour is heavily made, but strong. Their morale is bad too, for it does not take many losses to make them turn to flee. They often lost many when they were fleeing. This clan ranged weapons are limited to stones in slings and crude bows.

The armour this clan uses is made by piecing together the bottom and top of each animal bone to connect them and make them interchangeable, just like in a moving object. In the Xalatherian Order, anyone that belongs to the Xalather clan can join, but joining results in a brutal goqa, or basic training boot camp, that tests ones physical and spiritual limitations. Most get through this but have to make many attempts. kin'toni'ati scholars from across Terael suggest that although there is no educational requirement to join this clan's military.

It does require a lot of stamina, ability, and overall self-control. Like in some of the militias of other kin'toni'ati clans the Xalatherian Order does not have any significant branches; however, it is run by three different but equally important leaders: the xani, which is responsible for administrating physical tasks and exercises, is the primary and most active leader; the xuni. Which is responsible for spiritual exercises, also administers rituals and prayers; and finally, the xeri, which is responsible for military initiation and training, also tends to the wounded in the event of an injury. Some nurses are called to action in the event of injury during a task or exercise; these nurses, or choeros, often apply nalukai venom to an injured Xalatherian's injured area, at which point the injured area would heal within a matter of minutes if the wound is not too bad. In times of battle,e the choeros will more often than not be accompanied by the xeri, who administers spiritual healing to the mentally disturbed. Each cohort contains 10 troops of 270 soldiers. They are famous for valour, for bravery, righteousness and for making clever use of terrain

Religion

As the kin'toni of this clan life near a place called Tiruir that a large creature called the nalukai, along with other animals goes to die, they have taken to worshipping the spirits of other animals, including the bug-eyed walrus-anthropomorphic hygl and the rhino-headed julkta, a creature that eats and digests specific types of rocks; however, they revere the nalukai as a spirit of strength. In several caves there are churches dedicated to the spirit of the nalukai; these churches, often referred to by Xalatherians as the Garqe Nalukaia are essentially gatherings for Xalatherians.

Where they form a circle and praise a nalukai skeleton. While performing a very unique but strange ritual involving the taking of the bones of the nalukai skeleton, supposedly for the use of these bones to make their weapons. Although Xalatherians use the bones of other animals, they mainly use nalukai bones to construct their weapons, for the kin'toni of this clan think it will give them the strength of the naluka. some, however, are used as musical percussion instruments. When praying in a group circle the group will start by sounding out an ancient Sweynnsulian chant.

Followed by the use of several nalukai knee bones to create a synchronized drumming sound that isn't too soft or too hard. Also, note that when a Xalatherian prays alone. He or she will usually engage in the prayer by speaking in Del'rak, then further engaging oneself into a Del'rakan chant while standing in front of a nalukai's skeleton. kin'toni'ati psychologists from across Terael conclude that this is often the preferred method of prayer for the Xalatherian. The holy colour of this religion is white and yellow. The clergy of the churches of the nalukais called Kiua.

Are thought to be able to have their spirits leave their bodies. When the spirit is outside the body, the Kiua are thought to go on walks to unknown places and be with their spirit animals. The places they are said to go to are the homes of spirits and one of those places is in eternal twilight. They use a type of narcotic made from plants and go into trances to do such a thing. The Deadly Sins are apathy, irresponsibility, dishonesty, sloth, cowardice, wrath, thoughtlessness and recklessness and the High Virtues are bravery, wisdom, honesty and selflessness.

Miscellany

Here are a few other facts you might not know about this clan: Duetoy their hunting skills and strategy are the allies of the Siorm clan; however, most of their allied clans are often from afar, which makes physical communication very difficult in a world without technology. Luckily, the Siorm clan resides nearby Cheyada. The clans are foes of the Xalather kin'toni Clan are far away, but the clan is divided by itself. This is because as resources run low, the clan is slitting into fractions. The fractions are quickly shifting and get bigger and smaller in time.

This could rip the clan apart and make it fight along with itself. This would make it a target for other kin'toni clans and the local zu'aan tribes. The clan might be gone in 1,000 years. Most of the kin'toni in this clan only get about six hours of sleep per day as the day is often very short and the weather is mild. As for the other seventeen hours, they generally spend their time doing rituals, communicating with one another, or hunting. It turns out that they don't feed on just nalukai, that are powerful and large night creatures. They also hunt winged creatures such as the raxa and the yuzu.

Both of them are eagle-like and have pointy ears and a slightly large frame. The difference is in their noses, one of which is curvy and another of which is sharp. Food is not as hard to come by as the vast majority of this clan like to eat theirs raw. Because the raxa and yuzu can reproduce in such a large quantity. This is meaning the food the creatures feed on this running out, as it is all eating. Soon the creatures will run out of food and stave. This means their numbers will drop and the Xalather kin'toni Clan will begin to starve.

These Xalatherians often find that they may never go hungry, although two meals a day is more than enough, which may not last long. As food is the only resort of note the clan has, other clans do the raid for food and have tried to wipe out the clan for their food before. Important holidays are: Ceafael is a religious holiday celebrated just before the winter solstice. It commemorates a disagreement. It is associated with strength, vice and ambivalence. Traditions include private forgiveness from debt, quiet contemplation and charitable donations. Nearly all groups celebrate it differently.
