History

The Taelti are the royal clan of the kingdom of Nara, they are all found within the walled region of the Uskine Intertidal Wetland, the city is often referred to as the Emperor’s city or the City of lakes for the amgnificnt beauty that is cultivated within its tall walls. At present it is the Car lineage that leads the kingdom of Nara, and on the throne sits Kin Ao’eal, a magnificent leader that himself forged the whole kingdom with the might of his sword and his sharp intellect.

He is widely regarded as a hero and loved by the masses like a God, the only popular religion in the region, which is officially named as the religion of the Purple Vlood, places him, King Ao’eal at the head of the religion and worship him as the shadow of god on earth. The places where he touches the ground are said to be sacred, and all the locations that are said to be associated with his background are known to be worshipped as sites of pilgrimage where the kin'toni of the Nara Kingdom regularly visit in order to try and feel closer to him.

The history of the Taelti is in actuality the history of the whole of Nara Kingdom, for there is no Nara without the Taelti, it was after all the King of the Car dynasty that led the kin'toni that had been searching for meaning and a place to call home. The Taelti clan carved a place of peace and harmony out of the world which at the time had nothing to offer besides violence and bloodshed. The stability the kin'toni of Nara created was what allowed the kin'toni to conceive of a possibility for a better future, with that possibility in mind they were able to change how they saw the world and interacted with it.

One must remember that the Nara is indeed the oldest kingdom of the kin'toni nations at least oldest in consideration of other nations of similar size. Prior to the founding of the Nara Kingdom, there certainly were regional kingdoms that controlled small pockets of land and claimed to be royalty. A lot of the kin'toni that laid to rule over portions of lands in the depths of Canlai were not exactly kind individuals either, the cream of kin'toni kind had been sent forward to the front lines where they battled the zu'aan armies in their last bastions of civilisation.

The kin'toni that had remained behind were kin'toni that were either unfit for battle or either those that had found a way to escape the draft. The military commanders at the time cared little for what was happening in the inner lands, they were single minded in their determination to defeat the zu'aan. In this vacuum of power, the worst kind of kin'toni came into play, they subjugated those kin'toni that had been deemed unfit for battle and lay claim to large portions of lands as part of their kingdom.

Psychology

The kin'toni of the Taelti clan are essentially guardians of the people, and its nor only the kin'toni of the land that see them as such but they themselves too believe that they are guardians of the weak and they were indeed created to protect those that couldn’t defend themselves. This ideology is firmly planted in their minds, and it can be traced back to the King Ao’eal and his rise through the the stages that he encountered to craft his kingdom and build his kin'toni clan.

Any of the kin'toni clans from the Taelti can freely go on to talk at length about how the kin'toni of the clan were endlessly coached and taught about what the meaning of being a clan member of the Taelti meant by the King himself. Therefore, the king has had a lot to do with how the kin'toni of the Taelti view themselves and the world around them. As democracy has come into full swing in the kingdom of Nara, there is an increasingly growing number of kin'toni that oppose the position of the the King and the place of the royal clan, the Taelti clan.

They claim that both the king and the kin'toni of the royal clan live in an artificial world wherein they have little to no interactions with the actual people of the kingdom. This is obviously not a sizeable portion of people, as the king and the royal clan are still seen very favourably by a lot of the kin'toni from across the whole of the kingdom. Some elements of the Naran society will claim that the kin'toni who have been the loudest critics of the King and royal clan are indeed those kin'toni that have been bought by the political class.

That is bent upon destroying the image of the King, and relegate the king and the royal to a smaller and less powerful position. Certainly with the advent of the Democratic processes that the bureaucrats were responsible for implementing and bringing forth, a lot of the powers of the King and the royal clan have been completely diminished and taken away on the other hand there are still several ways in which the king and his family are able to influence the decisions of the government.

Therefore this increasingly vocal portion of the society that claims the position of the king and his courtiers is redundant, is thought to be an attack on the monarchy, or at least a veiled attack by the monarchy by the political class. The king and the Taelti clan have not really responded to the allegations of fraud and corruption that these groups in the peasantry have been alleging against the royal clan, however their charitable endeavours have continued at the same pace.

In fact, if one were to trace the recents places in the kingdom where the Taelti clan has been handing out alms and building social infrastructure, it could be noted that these activities are becoming more concentrated in the regions of the kingdom from whence the criticism has been most vocal.

Biology

The Taelti kin'toni are built like true kin'toni of war like the kin'toni of the first generation, in althe clan members, the combat ability has been transmitted very well. The Telti are gifted athletes that are able to convert this incredible body awareness along with stamina and endurance, and apply it to any form of combat. They are true leaders in the field of battle, and form a striking vision when they all dress in their combat gear for the annual ceremonies that involve their presence.

While kin'toni may be tempted to believe that the kin'toni of the Taelti clan only have an appearance of power, and perhaps are weak in actual battle, they would be sorely mistaken. Time and time again the Taelti have proven their prowess as martial legends, and this gift in combat is what has allowed them to enrapture the hearts of the people of Nara. It is certainly true that the kin'toni of the Taelti are now highly secluded and rarely come forward to engage with the people, however there was a time when none of the villagers in even the remotest villages would claim to have never seen the Nara fight.

During those initial days of the kIngdoms forging, there were several hundred kin'toni in the region that believed themselves to be a power unto themselves, and refused to abide by the rule of King Ao’eal, and it was the Taelti that were sent to the remotest parts of the kingdoms to stop out resistance and establish the prevalence of the King’s law. In these times, the Taelti proved time and time again what it meant to be a master warrior that was in complete control of the battlefield.

Several thousand kin'toni have broken against the large shields of the Taelti, but that physique which made them stand out as bastions of power in the olden days, now seems to make them awkward In the world of today, in Nara, a kin'toni strength is judged not by the might of his arms and legs or even his skill in combat, but rather in the sharpness of intellect and the accuracy of prose. In this world, the Taelti cannot be referred to as strong, for the political class has them severely outmatched in this regard.

In fact it was never their strength, but at the time they could instead rely upon the king to be the voice of the whole clan. The King is not only a skilled and deadly warrior but an extraordinary orator as well, few politicians have been able to successfully put a dent on the image of the king, even with their refined intellect. The King is however an exception among the Taelti, who though kind at heart and brave in fighting, are not quite as quick witted and intelligent to fire off responses in the chamber of the people, whose proceedings are generally published for the general public to read.

It is here that the Taelti have lost to the politicians. They have dark green irises with black sclerae and vertical slit pupils

Culture

The kin'toni of the Taelti clan have been able to credited with a lot of great feats on the battle field, but they have been able to build for themselves a place in the minds of the kin'toni of the Kingdom of Nara not due to their battle prowess alone but rather due to the near unending steam of altruism that has flow from their decadent palaces in the heart of the Uskine city, where the king also resides. This culture of charity and generous charity at that has been one of the core precepts of the Taelti clan,

And it would be unfair to judge the kin'toni for their charitable actions as being ones that stem from their want to remain relevant in the minds of people or even to win back some of the power that has been lost to the political class of the Nara Kingdom. This would be an unfair and illogical line of reasoning because the kin'toni of Nara have been constant in their charitable pursuits throughout their existence and not merely when they lost their powers to the buearaucrats.

The kin'toni of the Taelti clan are true altruists, for not only do they spend ridiculously large amounts of money to help the least fortunate kin'toni of their kingdom through the riches they are entitles to from the treasury of the Kingdom, but also because their charity is not limited to the sharing of wealth alone. In fact the kin'toni of the Tale clan invest and spend a lot of their time and energy into their charitable pursuits. For example, although they by no means need to visit the poorest slums in the cities or the struggling farming regions of their kingdom,

They make sure that all commissioned works are personally inspected by a member of their own clan. The actions of the Taelti have been a true boon in the times following the shattering, as Nara was nearly brought to the brink of a financial meltdown due to the civil war of the politicians making, the public spending of the government took a severe beating. Up until today there are certain regions in the kingdom that have not yet been rebuilt after they were torn down during the most dangerous phase of the civil war.

The government has been focussed on paying its mountainous debt and managing to keep the citizens of the kingdom barely afloat. In these turbulent times, the kin'toni of the Taelti clan have stepped forward to fill into the gap that has been left by the government. Their intervention has meant the difference between life and death for many of the kin'toni that have been forced to live in shells of towns, whose infrastructure is so dialpitated that it is barely able to prevent the entry of sunshine into their homes.

The Taelti also choose particularly gifted kin'toni from the peasantry who they believe can make true martial leaders and train them at the arts of war that they have had an opportunity to fine tune over their illustrious careers.

Government

The Taelti are a central part of the Nara Kingdom, in their role as the founders of the kingdom and being the royal clan of the Kingdom, their roles responsibilities are both ceremonial as well as essential to the processes of the administration that were set out when the Nara Kingdom transitioned to being a fully democratic power and not one that was being ruled by the kin'toni of the Taelti clan alone. In the times past, when the King was still the effective head of the government as well as the states,

The provinces were administered by members of the Taelti clan, they were assigned a particular region in the Nara Kingdom and reported to the king the important points of their decision. The King rarely involved himself in the decisions of day to day governance in the provinces, and left the Taelti to their own devices, administration during their rule was good but it could be argued that the kin'toni of the Taelti clan although great leaders, failed to understand the wants of the kin'toni of their nations.

The first step in the dilution of their powers came with the entry of the bureaucratic corps, which was a step that was initiated by the Taelti themselves, and was brought on by the outcry of the common kin'toni against the lax governance that had been occurring under the Taelti. The kin'toni of Taelti at the time had invited kin'toni from the Ashatan university to educate the kin'toni clans that they had chosen on their own for the position of the bureaucracy, these kin'toni had been trusted warriors under the Taelti at the times of war.

At least most of them had been, there were other clans as well, like those of merchants and those that had served in a clerical capacity. These kin'toni studied with the teachers of the Ashatan university, and learned about the finer points of administering their kin'toni population, this stage of the development can truly be labelled as the golden period of Nara. All the citizens of the kingdom were fairly happy, they were able to fulfil all their basic needs and prospects for trade were ever increasing.

On the war frontiers, the Naran army kept pushing back the zu'aan cities that had maintained a foothold in the lands of Canlai, although there was no open warfare with the warriors of Zelan, the situation remained tense. Finally, the kin'toni of the Naran army were able to push back the zu'aan completely off the Canlai landmass, and incorporated their land into their own kingdom, making Nara the largest nation of the Canlai landmass. The kin'toni of the bureaucracy in the meantime had continued to accumulate more and more power to themselves.

All the while the king and the members of the Taelti clan had been invested in bringing the wars to a favourable conclusion. The real changes in the polity of the kingdom only began after the wars had been concluded and the Taelti were back outside the view of the general public.

Military

The kin'toni of the Taelti as explained earlier were warriors of superior calibre, although the kin'toni of the Canlai nations don’t believe in categorising kin'toni clans into the categories that were introduced by the kin'toni of the Erean nations, for instance the Erean nations tend to differentiate between kin'toni clans that fight particularly well into warrior clans and soldier clans. On the Canlai lands, all kin'toni that fight in the battle are referred to as kin'toni of Warrior clans,

Indeed the kin'toni of the Canlai nations do not accord as much respect to the calling of a warrior as is seen in the lands of Erea. This feature of the Canlai nations and their society is easily explained, to the kin'toni of Canlai, who have for centuries not seen war with zu'aan and the kin'toni since the time of the shattering, in their eyes the warriors are able to lend little help to society. On the other hand, the Erean lands are always churning with the turmoil of one battle or another,

And most of the kin'toni in the Erean land are well aware of the possibility that it may be their region that is attacked next, and thus in their society warriors hold an apex position in terms of vocations. The kin'toni have commented that if the Canali kin'toni warrior clans like the Taelti had been less adept at the art of fighting, they perhaps would have continued to hold prominent positions in the affairs of the kingdom. The kin'toni of the Taelti clan were monsters in the battlefield, destroying enemy platoons with wild swings of the maces that are their favoured weapons, or at least for most of them if not all.

Their discipline was impeccable for they had learned war from the hands of King Ao’eal, who is even now a fearsome warrior of a mammoth reputation. The Taelti were the closest support troops of the king, and it was the warriors of the Taelti clan that held the most difficult positions in the numerous battles that occurred when Nara was being brought together under the forceful hand of the King. The Taelti held close to the king in battle, and he only deployed in the regions where his forces were suffering the heaviest losses, helping his army troops push back the kin'toni or zu'aan that were attacking them.

After a particularly grevious battle in the course of which the king lost an arm to the sun, rendering him incapable of defence, it was the Taelti clan members that shielded the king from the sun and being completely away by sacrificing their own bodies. The tale that revolves around that battle is a particularly popular story that has been told and retold several dozen times by the kin'toni of the Nara Kingdom, and the king himself has constructed structures to remember the kin'toni of the clan that gave up their life in order to preserve his.

These structures can be found at the very entrance to the sacred city of Uskine.

Religion

The Taelti like most of the kin'toni of the Nara Kingdom believe in the sacredness of the royal blood, one that is forced from the King Ao’eal of Car dynasty. His blood is considered sacred not due to a divine blessing truly but due to the strength of his character, although there are aspects of the King’s life that are not openly discussed, such as his zu'aan life, but other aspects of his life are known by one and all. His struggles to untie the kin'toni against the zu'aan, and the forging of the Nara Kingdom, are tales that even a newly converted kin'toni could just as easily talk about as a seasoned veteran of the war.

What truly stands about the tales of the King and his adventures before the coming of the Nara Kingdom is that the stories are not filled with fanciful tales that one would expect from stories told about a monarch. In fact most of the stories that are circulating about the king, are tales that involve him making a severe error in calculation or mistakes of decisions that always ended up creating very challenging situations. It is theorised by kin'toni from outside of the Nara Kingdom that the common kin'toni citizen of Nara is so utterly infatuated with the King of the Car dynasty, because they are able to relate to him.

That is to say, the tales of all the mistakes that the king made while trying to forge a new kin'toni nation could just as easily have been done by a common kin'toni citizen, and in this way they are able to see that the king is not an extraordinary individual but a regular zu'aan that has worked to reach the heights of success because of a goal that drove him forward. Besides his vision, the king was also set apart from the other competitors or rather rivals as he was so dedicated to his goal that he thought about little else except his vision.

The religion of the purple blood is thus built as much on reality as it is on the supernatural, and this is why the religion of the Nara Kingdom focuses so much on the acts that are done during life, and cares little about the afterlife or the spirit world, as other kin'toni religions do. The Taelti have a unique role in there religion, they are not quite worshipped like the King himself, despite the fact that the religion claims that it is the blood of the king that is sacred. The Taelti despite sharing the blood of the King are not seen as kin'toni that are worthy of prayer.

And this is essentially for the same reason why the kin'toni of Nara don’t believe in the supernatural. The king’s blood is only sacred because it is in the body of the king, and it isn’t sacred in the Taelti because unlike the King they have done nothing to deserve the praise and prayer of the kin'toni like King Ao’eal.

Miscellany

The kin'toni of the Taelti clan are fearsome warriors but are possessed of a deep care for their people, and this aspect of their personality is widely established. Their empathy for the common kin'toni, the loyalty they bare for the monarch, and obviously their fearsome reputation in the battlefield, these are some of the aspects that have made the kin'toni so important to the culture of Nara. The kin'toni of the bureaucratic corps have on multiple occasions tried to dispose of the Taelti and each time their attempts to slander the Taelti have been met with little enthusiasm by the common kin'toni of the kingdom.

These attempts have mostly been unsuccessful, however, certain aspects of these slander campaigns have stuck in the minds of people, and this has been one of the ways that the political class has undone the authority of the monarchy as well as the royal clan. The most effective stratagem that the kin'toni of the political class have utilised in order to undermine the royal clan and the monarchy, has been the allegation of mislead governance. To a certain degree, this accusation has certainly been true about the administration of the Car dynasty.

The King has never been one for getting into the bare details of the administration of the kingdom, he has always been concerned with the high picture, in fact it is said that when the kin'toni of the political clans were making plans to unseat the king and the Taelti, they were busy planning campaigns to take the lands of the Zelan kingdom and bring its people under their own administration. It is likely that the Taelti would have succeeded too, if they had not been unseated and their powers seized by the political representative of the provinces.

The politicians tried several other tactics to try and bring down the kin'toni of the Taelti clan, before they attempted to slander their efficiency at their assigned role, they first tried to assassinate their character and effectively impeach them. They began rumours of a lavish lifestyle and decadent behaviour of the royals, going so far as to even claim that the kin'toni of the Taelti clan had no care in the world for the common kin'toni citizen and that they were only concerned with fulfilling the desires of their beauty.

This tactic of the political clans failed fantastically without even the intervention of the Taelti themselves, since the kin'toni of the Taelti clan had served in the armies with several thousand soldiers, all of those soldiers came forward to highlight the spartan lifestyle that the kin'toni of the Taelti clan led, and this campaign was further undermined by the continuous charitable actions of the kin'toni of the clan, who went out of their way to spend large sums of money even then to support the kin'toni of the kingdom who had been least fortunate.

The kin'toni that defended the Taelti in public were upstanding members of the community and thus it was easy for these rumours to be quashed.
