History

Years ago, no one knows when specifically, the Lebeti clan was formed. It was not a natural process and it did not happen right after the outbreak, this clan was formed in the mountains, out of the genius of its first members. The Tinang Kin'toni Clan ruled over the Kalir tropical mountains with an iron fist and this form or ruling did not go smoothly with all of its members, there were known revolutionaries and several plans to overthrow the rulers of this clan. However, they rarely ended up having any real impact, most of them were caught and, if they were lucky, arrested, if they weren’t so lucky, killed after days of torture.

Despite the failures of many, there was one group of men that was smart enough to devise a plan to overthrow the rulers, without getting killed or arrested. They all had high positions in the clan but disagreed with the values and the path the clan was going to take in the following years. Because of this, they met in secret for many years just devising a plan good enough to achieve their goals. These three men were extremely committed, but there was one problem, they needed a fourth person who had direct access to the clans safe. For many months they searched for the right person without raising any suspicions.

Finally, they encountered a woman that was named Taerel, after the world itself. This kin'toni woman was beautiful and all the three men trusted her to take care of this particular part of the plan, she was supposed to open the safe and let them in for two hours. When awaited day finally arrived, everything went according to plan, the first man, who was a politician, made the necessary changes so that he would be in control of the clan by the time the day reached its end, the second man. The fighter, had control over the army that was controlled by the third man, the strategist.

All that was left was for Taerel to open the safe for them, however, she disappeared that same day, only partially opening the safe. The three men had to blow it open, which caught the attention of the other powerful kin'toni of the clan. The plan had failed. They had to leave the mountains only carrying the gold, precious stones and what they had on them at the time. A pursuit that lasted days ensued, the Tinang ran after the three men until they lost them at the Dan’eta stone basin, the three men had found a hideout that was low enough that most Tinang, because of their biological limitations, could not approach.

Naturally, it was incredibly painful for them, neither the fighter. Nor the politician, nor the strategist had been this near the water-levels, their heads felt as though they were going to implode, but after several weeks they started getting used to this location and ended up establishing their own clan, the Lebeti clan, which in its infancy had only these three members. Only over time, relying on their specific skills, have they created a powerful clan that although it still only has three members, has hundreds of kin'toni mercenaries. That are willing to fight for them in return of the riches they were able to steal from the Tinang.

Biology

The biology of each of the three members of the clan is directly correlated with the function that they had as former powerful members of the Tinang clan, and although they have left that clan and started one of their own, they still have somewhat the same roles and the biological differences still exist. However, there are some biological traits that the do share, their eyes all have pink irises with white sclerae and horizontal slit pupils. Which have changed over the years since they left the Tinang clan. Additionally, the Lebeti also inked their bodies as to show their commitment to the cause.

This is in the days of trying to bring down the Tinang kin'toni rulers. These marks of ink all had a different shape that, when brought together, created an image of a large snake biting its own tail. Over the years the ink spread to other parts of the skin, now all three men have a blueish color and the snake can no longer be seen. The fighter has, as the name suggests, a fighter body. He is the tallest of the three at two meters and he is arguably one of the best fighters in the area. Other than that, due to some of the wounds he has sustained, parts of his body are covered in metal plates that were infused into him after several struggles.

The politician and the tactician are the exact opposite of the fighter, each of them has no physical power and they both reach 1.75 meters in height. Any characteristic that distinguishes them from a zu'aan tribesman is psychological, not physical. They appear to be able to perceive things faster than a normal kin'toni should, it is as though they are always several moves ahead of everyone else. This is a direct result of how the brain itself adapted to their lives but also an advantage both already had even before their own infection process.

It is not only nature nor nurture; it was the connection of both that caused them to possess this ability.

Culture

As runaways from their former tribe, the Lebeti trio needed to leave everything behind, it was very difficult, nevertheless, it was a sacrifice they knew they had to be willing to make. And it was a choice all three had previously considered the ramifications of said choice were also the subject of many long nights of contemplation. In that which was left behind, one can find the Tinang culture,. Only small hints of the Tinang culture can now be seen in the behavior of the Lebeti. One of those hints is the assignment at a young age, it is a fact that the three rulers of the Lebeti clan have stayed their roles.

They were assigned to these roles many, many years ago. This was not a choice per se, they were practically forced to keep exercising the same roles, how could they deny that their respective skills were almost tailored for fighting, strategizing or hashing political schemes. Another thing the Lebeti held on to, although it is a characteristic of the members of their former clan, is the obsession with one-self. They consider themselves special, superior to other kin'toni and clearly to any type of zu'aan. Not only is this due to their prowess in their respective fields, but it is also because of the way they were educated.

All members of the Tinang see themselves as being that are far more advanced than every other being there is. Knowledge is something the Lebeti trio, and especially the strategist and the politician, consider paramount to existence itself. The ones who are in possession of the most amount of knowledge are in a better position to live life and they see fit and make the least amount of mistakes, something the Lebeti despise. Because of this, the Lebeti send their mercenaries to collect information on everything they can. vf it means stealing it from other kin'toni clans.

Until this moment, the Lebeti have amassed thousands of books and other sources of information and have a library so incredible that not even the libraries of the zu'aan of the independent cities of the Third Era can compare, there, whoever are liberies that can compare in the Empire's Cities. There are entire days in which then strategist and the politician simply sit down and read for pleasure. It has always baffled the fighter who prefers to learn a new fighting style or improve his physical health by exercising. In a way that irritates other kin'toni that come in contact with this clan.

The Lebeti find themselves superior to everyone and every idea that is not theirs. They accept no suggestions and consider members of other clans as small naïve children who still don’t know what they are doing in the world. This way, every choice they make has behind it the belief that they are dealing with the highest levels of incompetence that exist. The main reason they chose not to accept other kin'toni as clan members and still only rely on mercenaries, is because they do not want other kin'toni to ruin the perfection they built for themselves.

Government

The government is, of course, controlled by the politician and has been since they split from the Tinang. Although he is commonly referred to as “the politician”, this man is called Meror. He was in charge of controlling the political side of his former clan, which wasn’t very politically drives, this lack of interest the clan had for his work is what partly made him want to take his revenge on them. Meror is now one hundred and two years old but is as sharp as he was by forty. Although he is now in full control of the political choices of his current clan, the other two members serve as advisors in their respective area.

The fighter informs him if it is possible to declare war on a particular zu'aan tribe if they can actually be beaten. One of the easiest things to manage is the kin'toni of the clan itself, the Lebeti have no people besides the three soldiers. Therefore, money is everything that is necessary to keep the army happy, there is no need to concern oneself with uprisings by the population or with the welfare of the workers, this is why the role of the politician is usually considered the easiest of the three roles. The only things he can control are alliances, the Lebeti always find the perfect allegiance partners.

Clans who can help them more for a very reasonable price, be it protection or gold. The Lebeti know how to play the game so that they always come out on top at the end. Although there is no judicial system, because there is no one to deem guilty or innocent, there is only one rule that applies to all three rulers equally. If there is a betrayal, the other two will hunt this kin'toni tribe for the rest of their lives and, when they find him, each member the former clan member has will be slowly torn off to the point where only the torso remains. Fortunately, the three men are very loyal towards each other a.

And the chances of one betraying the other two, or two of them plotting against one are minimal at worst. There have been efforts to expand the reach of the clan through creating a powerful wall of allies that extends for several hundreds of kilometers, and that is what the politician occupies most of his days. Of course, the intentions of the Lebeti are not as honorable as their potential allies would like to believe, they intend to manipulate the alliances in their benefit. The end goal of this clan is to make all other kin'toni clans. But also the zu'aan tribes and cities understand that the Lebeti trio is superior to them in every way possible.

And that their destiny should be to rule over all of Taerel.

Military

Freir is the fighter, the warrior, the head commander of the army of mercenaries that the they have acquired. When he as a member of his old clan, Freir was know for winning many battles he was a part of, if the enemy soldiers saw him in the middle of the battlefield, in a few clans, it was costumery for them to drop their swords on the floor and accept defeat. In every battle he fought, Freir was the first kin'toni to march forward and pierce the enemy lines. There were few who could actually hit his armor or shield, and even fewer that were able to cause some kind of injury.

Freir only has one scar and it is from the time he and two kin'toni fled from the Tinand. As they went down the mountains, thousands of arrows flew across the sky and one of them hit him right below the shoulder. Despite being injured and carrying an incredible number of things with him he never stopped and ran on for three more days. There people who talk about Freir as if he is a legend, a fictitious character that never existed, but those who know he is real do not even want to say his name. Freir always has with him his valuable sword, the “world-tamer”, the world tamer is made of a special iron from the mountains and has a green handle wrapped in leather.

It has witnessed the deaths of hundreds and Freir never loses sight of it. This was always his weapon. His shield is also invaluable, it got its name “Greare” from a dear friend of Freir who was killed in a war, it is a medium sized shield with a pike in the middle of it, therefore, it is not only used as a defensive weapon but also as an offensive one, Freir swings his shield and the pike functions as a spear. The shield is made of metal; however, it was painted all black in a way that one can barely see it at night. Despite Freir already being an offensive juggernaut, while using these two pieces of equipment, he is hard to beat.

It would take a good number of people or a plan clever enough, to bring him down. The armor he wears is also made of metal and its color resembles that of the shield, in a battlefield. Those who look at Freir see the large and powerful kin'toni as the personification of darkness. The rest of the army of the Lebeti is made up of mercenaries that specialize in different fighting styles, some utilize bows and arrows, some spears, and some are equipped with simple swords and shields. There is no real order in the mercenaries, they fight with passion and like there was no tomorrow, and for some of the, that may very well be true.

The number of mercenaries that the Lebeti own is now in the hundreds and there is the danger that they would attack the three men that rule over the clan, however, they have some respect for them and know that fighting Freir would mean that many of them won’t wake up the next day.

Religion

Although the three rulers of the Lebeti clan were not religious in their former clan, but since they left, the vision they have of themselves has started to change and, although they do not see themselves as gods per se, they see themselves as being who are closer to divinity than other kin'toni and, especially, other zu'aan. As such, they make every member of the mercenaries bow down to them when they are in their presence. When they encounter other cultures with specific religions, be it monotheistic or polytheistic ones, the Lebeti do everything in their power to strip them from their beliefs in these gods.

Sometimes they even slaughter an entire zu'aan tribe just because they have religions signs on their cabin doors. If they encounter a clan that can actually be useful to them, it is not unusual for the Lebeti to try and use their skills to convince them that they are the only beings they should adore. Over the years a prophecy has started to be created by the fighter, the politician and the strategist. It is said that these three kin'toni are immortal and that their skill will start to show themselves as the years go by. Their destiny, according to the prophecy, is to rule over Taerel one thousand years from now.

Slowly they will try and take over all the regions and their names will be on the tongues of every single living being in Taerel. The mercenaries are starting to believe this and some have actually pledged themselves to the prophecy, which means that they will work for them in exchange for food and shelter. Furthermore, each mercenary will be forced to bear the same mark that the three rulers of the Lebeti clan tattooed themselves with as they left the Tinang clan. In 4E 243 this clan erected a statue that represents a sword, a scroll and a pen. These in turn symbolize the three men that rule over the clan.

It is an enormous statue that took several years to erect and many mercenaries died building it. For some, this was the final straw, a small group of mercenaries has decided that the adoration has gone too far and that the Lebeti trio are losing their minds and their ability hold the clan together. Does this indicate a trend that we are now just seeing. Or is it a minor problem that does not even deserve the attention of the rulers? Only time will tell.
