Marshland hunters, skulking creatures, quite dangerous

History

A small tribe, these were originally a group of mercenaries who had found themselves deep in the marshlands when they were struck by the kin’toni disease. They had been on the way to destroy another kin’toni clan that had occupied a town on the other side of the marshland in the civilised lands. They soon lost interest in completing their mission as they were now enemies of their employers. Seeming as they had been contracted to destroy a kin’toni tribes, which is exactly what they had now become. They learned to live off the marshlands, feeding off any zu’aan they could find who maybe had lost their way.

They used their military training to become exceptional hunters and would often travel large distances at a fast speed to find pray to feed off. They built a large compound in the centre of the marshlands and made this their central fortress where they based their camp out of. They would travel all around from this area in search of victims to sustain their new found insatiable hunger for blood and developed a new culture, modelled of course on the template of their old mercenary based lives. They have managed to stay out of any tribal politics and never have been found by any zu’aan military or authorities.

They are very good at covering up their tracks and not being seen. They have avoided all fame and notoriety and will often hunt pray and make it look like it was another clan who had committed the murders. Using their military training they have always gone in for the kill quickly and left without trace. Their leader, General Takken has been in charge of the clan ever since they first became kin’toni. He was also their commanding officer when they were alive and is considered by the tribe to be a master tactician. In life he was also very scary, but as kin’toni he is a force to be reckoned with and none would cross him.

The fortress that they constructed goes deep under ground into the marshes themselves. They built it with the one intent purpose that they would never be found. They have never felt the need to dwell else where. Having seen wars first hand they know that it is best for them to stay away from the world of chaos. Also as they come from a background of being military personnel who used to hunt and destroy kin’toni they also soon realised that they were going to stand a better chance of survival if they remained hidden from the world. Once they were nearly discovered by the army.

A battle ensued and they dispatched the small group that had been sent to explore the marshes. They removed the bodies and placed them on the outskirts of another tribal town, who incidentally had once threatened to destroy them over a disagreement long since forgotten as to what. Everything this clan do is always premeditated.

Biology

Green irises with black and vertical beaded pupils When they were alive in the days before they became kin’toni, this band of mercenaries had incredibly strong physiques and trained hard on a daily basis. They were taught how to survive in terrible situations and get through near death experiences, so their bodies were taught to survive on little or no food and to able to withstand high degrees of pain and suffering. So, when they became kin’toni this structure that they had developed in life was intensified in their new forms. They have incredible stamina, can survive for long periods of time without blood.

Will withstand huge amounts of pain and fight until the bitter end. Decapitations will destroy them instantly, however. They cannot recover form being impaled through the heart. They can withstand direct sunlight for 10 minuets. But after that they will erupt into flames and face a grizzly destruction. Fire will also destroy them. If they have a serious injury it may take them days to recover, however they have trained themselves to not feel any pain, so they will continue to operate effectively, albeit a certain degree slower. Their blood is white. They have a very silent bodily structure and do not breath much and their heart beat is silent.

Though it vibrates with great strength. They are quite agile and although they cannot run at great speeds, they can maintain a slower run for a longer period of time. They have an insatiable hunger for blood, but and they cannot control this desire. Their minds and bodies have been programmed to abstain from all nutrients for long periods of time. They have no emotions. Their minds have been given a form of military training where all emotions have been removed so that they have now become more effective killing machines. They sleep with their eyes open and have full sensory perception whilst unconscious.

They are light sleepers and will awake at the slightest sign of an intruder. They sleep in anywhere that is dark and in any position. Their internal organs are soft and wet. They maintain a temperature well below freezing. They have no emotions what so ever and neither feel excitement or adrenalin. Even during battle and other moments of high stress they remain calm and unemotional. Consequently their perception of the world is cool and calculated. Everything around them seems to move very slowly. The best way to destroy them is with a spear through the heart, usually thrown from a distance where it is not only safer.

But allows for more force to be added to the impact. They have deep resonating voices. They have no protection against fire and will be destroyed within an hour if attacked with fire. They are also unresistant to sickness and poison, ironically for a clan living in a marsh. They die in about half the time that kin'toni from other clans die to the same sickness or poison.

Culture

Although they are from a military background they are not gung ho. Being mercenaries has taught them stealth and an understanding of the futility of war. They have all undergone a deep brainwashing programme that has eradicated them all of emotions so their tribe is now based on equality and they have a utopian society where none of them fight or disagree with each other. They have no desire for power or status. Survival is all they seek and not just singular survival for selfish purposes. Survival for the entire clan is what drives them. They think as one unit. Only what is good for the tribe is of interest to them.

They do not dwell on the past as it serves no purpose to them. They live in the now, right here in the present. They are all very good with their hands and can built structures and domains from bare essential minimal materials that are easily found in any nature setting. It is important to them that every single member of the tribe is incredibly useful and pulls their weight for the greater good of the clan. They are no longer individuals when they became mercenaries and the day they became kin’toni turned them into something even greater. Their suffering and sacrifices are normal and pain is temporary.

This is how they see existence. Every day is spent furthering the survival of the clan. They constantly revaluate their strength and security as a group. Their entire culture is run day to day like a military operation at war, even though they are motivated by the deep seated need to avoid war. They believe that constant exposure to battle environments will eventually result in their extinction so they avoid it where they can. They operate on a rota system. Half the clan will secure the compound whilst the other half is in rest mode. During rest mode they will relax together, communicate in conversation, tell stories and sing songs.

They play some sporting activities often as they believe this keeps their bodies and minds sharp and in focus. They also believe that it unifies them both as a team and as a family. They are a hard people who understand pain and suffering and love the art of war, however they also understand comradeship and consider each other to be their brothers and sisters. They will gladly sacrifice their own individual existences if it means the survival of the clan or even the lives of any of their brothers and sisters. For them war is a way of life. They do not feel that they need to be at war to be warlike, they are a warrior clan, but not an evil barbaric clan.

They have a code of honour. They are united as one tribe and that understanding of who they are makes them avoid war where possible. However if attacked they will fight until either they or the enemy has been destroyed. They will never surrender. When they have their resting period this is considered to be a very sacred time.

Government

General Takken is the leader of this clan. A notorious military mastermind, he is both ruthless and fair. During their lives he successfully commanded the band of mercenaries from many hard and seemingly unwinnable challenges. They were often consequently given missions that many others would not even think of doing. Consequently this kin’toni tribe is very ell organised. The entire clan will follow their General's orders to the letter, to the grave and beyond, literally. The tribe operates on a militaryesque chain of command. This is all they know. This is the way they live their lives.

And so it stands to reason that as kin’toni this is how they ordered their government. The General has appointed a select amount of Captains who then organise the rest of the clan in smaller groups. This makes the entire operation more manageable. The General will create the plans and the structure for the tribes next course of action or movements. These plans will then be given to the captains individually and they will in turn appoint members of their units to be given positions of authority so that the Generals plans can be carried out more effectively.

Everything is run on a need to know basis and the chain of command is constantly changing and fluctuating, all depending on the task at hand and who the General thinks is best suited for what ever job and tasks currently are beneficial for the tribe. Any who question the General are considered insubordinate and will be destroyed immediately. This tribe are incredibly disciplined and the chain of command is to be adhered to at all times. They believe that if any part of the chain breaks down then the entire tribe will collapse so they maintain a very strict high disciplined and precisely organised unit.

They all wear uniforms at all times and the captains will inspect the lower classes for cleanliness and tidiness at all times. It is the strict behaviour in the clan that keeps them working as a machine and maintains their security and fortress structure. This is imposed very strictly by the government. Weakness is not tolerated. However the General treats all his disciples very well. He see’s them as his children and although strict with them their security is very important to him. As is there sense of belonging. The General will often organise special downtime activities for the tribe.

As to keep them solid as a unit. The entire tribe look up to him as father figure. They respect him as a warrior, but are also frightened of him, as he is ruthless. The Government is never questioned. This is a military tribe and their training is routed deep into their psyche. Discipline must be followed at all times. Otherwise the clan will become week and destruction will soon be to follow. Should any tribal members have a disagreement they are brought before the General immediately. Their fear of being disciplined by him is so great that they will forget about all other conflicts and keep peace.

Military

For this clan the military is a way of life. Each and everyone of them has been trained in the arts of war and killing. They are all highly trained with weapons and understand all military tactics with great depth. They are constantly regimentalised so that they undergo their day to day life as if they are living in war time. They have built a fully working fortress deep in the centre of the marshland. It has purposeful been placed in the centre of the swamp so that it is very difficult to find, but also that they can travel in any direction they wish in search of fresh blood and the distance is equal.

They are a very measured and organised tribe. They operate on a general structure of half on and half off. They take shifts so that half the tribe will be on military detail, going about the business of securing the compound, keeping watch and protecting them from potential enemy invasions. During this time, the other half of the tribe will have their resting period, where they will relax, converse with each other, sing, tell stories and play sports. The following night they will switch over the duties. This way all have an equal amount of military duties and rest periods.

Every member of the tribe are well versed in many forms of weaponry including short and long sword, spears, axes, archery and hand to hand to hand combat. They train rigorously every night from the moment they awake until the moment they are unconscious. Any plans for military manouvers are given out on a need to know basis. The General will devise the plans and give certain information to key Captains who will inform the individual troups responsible for certain parts of the war duties. The only person who ever knows the entire plan is The General. No one questions the General ever or any particular section of the military plan.

All do what they are told and they follow out their orders exactly. Battle tactics will vary, depending on many factors, including but not limited to the enemy they are fighting, the terrain in which the battle takes place, the weaponry employed and the ratio of numbers they face. Usually the tribe aim to avoid fighting. They are more interested in hiding their existence from the other tribes in the world and also the zu’aann themselves. Each time they go on a hunt looking for blood it is treated like a stealth mission, done quietly under the cover of darkness. They believe military success is determined by the lack of energy and lack of loss of lives.

Through a process of daily military training and practice, a highly disciplined society and well ordered system of chain of command, this tribe are an incredible military organisation. They have a love of war but no interest in needless fighting.

Religion

The General is seen as father figure and they look to him for spiritual guidance. He will guide the captains and help them through any tricky situations or times of great adversity. The captains will then in turn do the same for the warriors under them. The lower classed warriors will also help look after the mental and spiritual well being of those beneath them. They believe in fortune and energy. They have a theory that the energy they personally put into everything they do will dictate what they will receive. For instance if they are negative in their aspirations then they will receive nothing but failure.

However if they use positive affirmations in all the preparations that they make then the outcome of what ever they seek will be a more positive one. They look after the tribe as a whole, starting with the individual, the person next to them. It is the individuals task to make sure that each link in the great chain of the tribe is strong and healthy. By looking out for one another at all times they are constantly repairing and strengthening the power of the tribe as a whole. The tribe is split into smaller groups so that their structure is more manageable and easier to maintain.

Before any battle or an important hunt, each groups leader will speak before that group. Usually delivering a rousing speech and discussing the plan and military tactics in great detail. They will also offer moral support and encouragement where needed. It is very important in this clan that each looks out for the other. They believe that a strong energy and a compassion for their fellow soldiers will benefit them all greatly. By holding each other up, the entire clan is held up and it takes less strength to do so then to try and hold many up. Each holds up the next physically if necessary in the battlefield.

They also believe that it is important that they are all as individually tough as possible. Even though every tribe member has their moments of weakness and they must support each other they are also a clan of warriors with extreme military training. For them failure is not an option and they would rather be destroyed in the battlefield and go to their final graves fearlessly. Then to lie in their stricken beds powerless to defend against an unseen enemy. Extreme force of will and solidarity are the main strengths that they encourage in the tribe. The wisdom of the General is respected above all things.

They will do what ever he says and follow his wise words without question. The order of command is the most important thing in the tribe. Through this order they become more then a tribe. They are a machine. They are the last line of defence. Each has their own strength. Through the guidance of the General they live to serve the tribe.
