Peullton Kin'toni Clan
History
The founder of this clan was from a zu'aan city that was often a target for kin'toni'ati invaders, thus eventually leading to him being turned by a kin'toni of an undisclosed clan in 4E 36. Upon being initiated into this new clan he was told by its leader at the time that he had been undergoing a serious and terminal illness and that he would not live to see the next few weeks. But, he fail the leader of the clan and was exiled. He left the clan to another region called the E'zok Heathland. While he was there, he found some zu'aan tribes and decides to start turning zu'aan from the stone age tribe called the Uban.
With the thirty zu'aan he turned, he founded a new clan, not knowing all of the obstacles and challenges that he would face hereafter; thus, upon becoming the new leader, he declared that the clan's new name would be the Peullton clan, and the name stuck. Over the course of the next eighty years, Shebel led his clan into prosperity, becoming one of only a few leaders of his time to successfully fend off all of his invaders throughout his life and time as leader. His clan was governed with discipline and great valour, but also, cruelty and mercilessness. He is known to of had kin'toni murdered and hung up, disembowelled whilst alive.
During the Shattering in the year 4E 118 Shebel ordered his military soldiers to surround the borders of the Peullton clan's region, which ended surprisingly badly but came with an unexpected price which would be paid in full. He made war on the zu'aan city of Nyaistu, but the city was too well defended and his clan was driven off. He started a siege of the city that lasted one hundred days, but during it, three small kin'toni clans called the Zxa, Kala and D'kal Clans found out and attacked the Peullton kin'toni army. This started a war that lead to the clans being defeated. The remains of the three small clans fled.
The Peullton kin'toni lost around six thousand of their ten thousand kin'toni in the battle now called "Gal Nix-e Tar" This battle was a great loss for the Peullton kin'toni clan. He stepped down as leader of the Peullton clan after coming up with someone to succeed him, at which point he went on a five-day filibuster explaining the many faults of his existence and how angry he was for not being able to repent for them; at the end of this filibuster, it was said that right after naming a successor he suddenly saw his life flash before him and collapsed to the ground, dying shortly thereafter.
In the centuries leading to modernity, the Peullton clan were stricken by a spreading disease known as the Cwiaodaaera (loose translation: Red Death), a disease that caused many thousands of kin'toni in the region and abroad to perish from this strange and sudden illness that renders one's immune system completely defenseless and prone to illness. The disease mostly burned itself out in around ten years, but it is said that it might still be around.
Psychology
Despite the fact that most of the Peullton kin'toni can live for thousands of years, it comes as no surprise that almost all of the Peullton kin'toni are habitually aware of their mortality as kin'toni and they are also aware of the fact that at some point they will perish and become no more. That being said, most or all of the kin'toni belonging to this clan believe that the end is inevitable and that it will come, even when they least expect it, and for that reason, they don't always have the most optimistic or positive outlooks or attitudes. Because of this, most Peullton kin'toni considers themselves as being troubled mortals in a troubled world.
When Peullton kin'toni look for something and can't find what they are looking for, they have been known generally to obsess over it, searching every square inch of the local sector in which they reside in a last-ditch effort to find what they believe to be lost; however, most of the Peullton kin'toni have a tendency to be quite a bit absentminded as they don't seem to look in places. That seems to be most obvious in terms of where something might have been misplaced or lost on one's behalf. Despite not being the sharpest tools in the proverbial shed, though, they are still one of the most remarkable groups in terms of remembering certain things.
Hence their potential cases of selective memory. Because of the bad habits that a Peullton kin'toni develops over time he or she is generally quite hard on oneself, meaning that they verbally beat themselves up every time they do something that is considered wrong in the eyes of those around them. It is not so easy to determine just why, if any reason, this is the case, but evidence from the Peullton archives suggest that the Peullton kin'toni have a strange way of communicating with one another, only nodding to one another to greet themselves and nothing more. The interesting and exciting part about these interactions, however, is their body language.
Which goes in between emotions of curiosity to slight concern. Even so, most people don't see the typical Peullton Kin'ton because of its reclusive and otherwise elusive lifestyle, but the reason why most have not been able to see the Peullton kin'toni for more than a fleeting moment is because of the fact that when spotted, they have been known to run as quickly as possible to the nearest cave. It has been said that the typical Peullton kin'toni is almost always in one's prime throughout one's life cycle, so this might be able to explain why the speed of a Peullton kin'toni is so significant and hard to read.
Nonetheless, they are not like most clans, choosing to interact only with their allies and no one else.
Biology
The Peullton are adapted to the foggy, scrubby, dry E'zok Heathland. They are moderately sized, lean, and highly flexible of build, and adapted for crawling quickly through dense, prickly low vegetation. The downside of that is they lack raw striking power or vertical agility. The skin is dull grey green in color, and very dry with a fine, waxy coating for resistance to abrasive scratch injuries and acidic soil. The skin's waxy coating also aids in lowering fluid loss. The hair is stiff, short and sparse, covering both limbs and head.
These act as an highly sensitive tactile sensors for detecting ground vibrations through the low-growing scrub. This hair does not protect from the cold. Some of the hair near the temples are specialized sensory hairs for detecting minute differences in air density and moisture saturation. This allows them to navigate perfectly in thick fog or mist. The sense can be overwhelmed in strong winds. The eyes are amber in color, and have an highly evolved tapetum lucidum (reflective layer).
This allows them exceptional vision in dim twilight and heavy fog conditions. The downside of this is being prone to flash blindness. The ears are short and backwards pointing. These ears can can filter out high-frequency wind noise. This means they can focus on the movement of their prey, even though wind noise. The nostrils are small and low-set on the face. They have possessing fine-tuned chemoreceptors to allow them to track even faint scent trails on open, windy ground. They have an sense of smell adapted for rapidly assimilating and discardding scent data.
This allows them to identify and discard false or old trails over a wide area. The teeth are very fine and long, adapted for silent, deep penetration of small-to-medium sized prey. These fangs are easy to break if they are used on hard bone or exoskeletons. The claws are small, sharp and crescent shaped. These claws are for gripping roots and stems of scrub plants for grip, but are bad for climbing. These claws have sheaths of hardened cartilage that can be used to cover the claws to allow for them to put down their claws without noise.
The pelvis and shoulder joints are exceptionally flexible. This allows them to flatten their bodies to the ground for silent crawling, hidden by even low vegetation. They also have nerve endings in the hands and feet that are sensitive to subtle changes in ground temperature. These are used to find burrows, resting spots and track prey. They also have foot muscles that allow their toes to splay wide to allow them to purchase on exposed root systems and tangled ground cover. These feet are not adapted for sandy or soft surfaces.
The muscles are changed to be good at long, quiet periods of pursuit or stalking. They have exceptional endurance for low-impact movement, but these muscles do not have much explosive burst strength. They have an internal filtering system that is adapted to be resilient against the mild acids and secondary compounds such as those found in the local plants. This allows them to feed on local lifeforms without problems.
Culture
The Peullton clan have a very unusual culture, and as a result, they are one of the most awkward clans around; however, they are also one of the most polite, letting common courtesy in as a part of their culture. When it comes to doing some things a typical Peullton kin'toni will take slightly strange measures to get something done, but no matter what, whether working as individuals or in a group, they always manage to find a way to get the job done. They especially work at their best under pressure, going to such lengths to work together as a cohesive unit, and it is under pressure that the Peullton kin'toni thrive.
Ironically, there are other important artefacts from the Peullton clan's past and recent memory that are not as closely guarded, but some in the clan suggest often believe more so than not that these items are a part of the clan's regional museum, which is often referred to in the clan as the Zqoa-Dhia (translation: Cave of Artifacts). Every couple of years the leaders of the Peullton clan hold an important regional holiday dedicated to viewing and browsing through the Zqoa-Dhia and its important artefacts in one of the clan's largest caves, which is located somewhere on the northernmost edge of the region in which the clan resides.
Another important and urgent part of the Peullton clan's culture is their ability to create and use different kinds of architectural structures. In some cases, up to thirty Peullton kin'toni have been known to work on a single bit of architecture at once in an attempt to get said structure done as quickly and efficiently as possible. Groups of kin'toni have been known in this clan to use various kinds of wood from within their region. The homes this clan build are holes in the ground that have roofs and are connected via underground tunnels. Homes are rather small and have one room.
There is a certain policy ethic that involves common courtesy among all of its kin'toni. No rudeness, sick jokes, smart remarks or usage of their clan founder's name in vain are allowed in this clan and can be punishable by jail time. And speaking of jail time, the Peullton clan's version of jail involves a small stone structure where there are no windows and only one entranceway, and once one gets confined to such a structure they must be forced to spend time in isolation to think about what they've done, and if they end up learning their lesson they will be allowed back into the clan's parameters again.
Government
The Peullton kin'toni have their own government, and their government, which is referred to by the Peullton kin'toni themselves as the Poiziazka (translation: Peullton Empire), is run by a tribunal of six Gisaohnas and three Cueaosas who operate based on majority rules and various favourable legislation passed by the six Gisaohnas. Together, these nine entities that are responsible for governing and leading the Peullton clan have the potential to progress into the future as a clan by leaps and bounds, especially in the way in which the clan's leadership and legislation are enforced.
In terms of diplomatic relations, the Poiziazka regularly hosts and holds meetings within their alliances with various clans in an attempt to improve their diplomatic alliances with these clans of which they are allies. During these once-biannual meetings, the Peullton clan's leaders and those of several other clans discuss legislative actions passed in recent times and memory and discuss how these aforementioned legislations affect how each of their clans functions on a nightly basis. Sometimes arguments are inevitable, but when resolved the solution can always have a profound impact on the Peullton clan's relationship with their allies.
For what it's worth, it also comes as no secret that the Peullton clan's Poiziazka is, like a few clans, a Zirbwavquaen establishment, but some of the kin'toni responsible for leading the clan in the past have either been exiled or killed for treasonous acts committed against their own governmental officials; in some cases, such usurpations of power had transpired for many years prior to the suspect getting caught red-handed, but when such vacancies occur or transpire a tournament is often held within the Peullton population to determine who is the strongest and most like-minded, kin'toni.
At which point the winner(s) would get a spot on the Poiziazka council. In the case that a longstanding member of the Poiziazka passes away or becomes deceased, a special tournament is held to determine the most loyal and intellectually gifted kin'toni among the Peullton population, and in some cases, the winner of that tournament went on to become the Peullton clan's newest Cueaosa or supreme judge. In even rarer cases the vacancy that was up for grabs to be filled was for the highest Gisaohna position in the Poiziazka. Given that, in the event, a vacancy cannot be filled.
Several coin tosses between the leaders will determine which groups of Peullton kin'toni will be able to participate in said tournaments in the event of an ongoing issue within the Poiziazka.
Military
The Peullton kin'toni clan's government, which rules over them and legislates rules and regulations regarding how the Peullton kin'toni lives and operate on a nightly and daily basis, is also responsible for leading the clan's military, which is owned and operated by the Poiziazka, particularly the six Gisaohnas who make up the executive branch of the Poiziazka. In other words, each of the Gisaohnas is responsible for governing a central military base for each of the Peullton clan's six local sectors, five if a newly discovered part of the region is not counted.
The Poiziazka-Decwana (loose translation: Army of the Peullton Empire) operates in the six main local sectors that make up the Peullton clan's region, some of which are bigger or smaller than others. Because of this, it is generally a given and determinable fact that each of the local sectors is militarily enforced by the Gisaohnas that are responsible for passing and coming up with laws regarding that sector of which they govern, but in time applicants are encouraged to apply during all seasons of the year and during the application process the Gisaohna of one's local sector.
Must appoint two Figiohnas who will lead the basic training process. It is also generally known that the six local sectors that make up all of the branches of the Poiziazka-Decwana regularly meet one time every couple of weeks to hold a conference with each other to determine future plans for protecting and maintaining each of the six local sectors that make up the Peullton clan's region. During these conferences (referred to in the clan as Xcoansabae) the six Gisaohnas meet privately in a small cave to discuss future endeavours for the clan and forthcoming missions.
All this while the Figiohnas hold a ceremony to honour those that fell ill and succumbed to death. During important meetings, or Tqaozanes (usually once every year or once annually), the Figiohnas and Gisaohnas meet privately to discuss special operations that are to soon be carried out, at which point no military activities will be conducted that day. Even so, it is still up to each of the Peullton kin'toni soldiers as individuals to keep themselves in tip-top shape in order to keep up with the regime and its missions. In some cases, some of the Peullton kin'toni are sent to other nearby regions.
As missionaries, particularly in regions that contain the Peullton clan's allies, where they temporarily take refuge in said regions to turn zu'aan and increase recruitment numbers.
Religion
Religiously speaking the Peullton kin'toni seem to be religious, but because of a lack of faith in the centuries leading up to modernity only about half of the total Peullton population claim to be religious, while the other half choose to live as agnostic dwellers, thus choosing not to believe in one having a past life or an afterlife. The slight majority of the clan that are religious typically hold meetings or church services once every couple of weeks, preferably on nights where there are no military activities scheduled, and these services (referred to as Polziznbans) are often a series of interpretive rituals of religious faith.
As well as a sermon of readings from ancient Peullton kin'toni literature believed presently to be religious writ. In the typical Peullton kin'toni's life, specifically, one that is religious and a believer of ancient scriptures—he or she will normally recite a verse from an ancient poem supposedly written by the clan founder, who late in his life became a scribe. He or she will then go to a nearby cave with a block of stone to carve a symbolic relic of one's religious spirituality, usually a Zsaia (sphere) or an Aczibu (cube). The Zsaia represents an everlasting endeavour.
This is to become the best that one can hope to be, but the Aczibu represents the persistence that is required to complete tasks, especially tasks that are difficult or demanding. Through these two relics, the Peullton kin'toni has a lot to live for. Every couple of months, a mass is held amongst the religious majority of the Peullton kin'toni clan, and during these masses (referred to as Zolzinbazns) the entire religious population will convene in a certain large cave within the region to hold a religious ceremony where the clan's pope, or Tyzjal, gives a sermon regarding the origins of the clan.
This is as well as the Peullton kin'toni ancestors, often quoting scriptures from the founder of the Peullton clan himself. After the sermon the clan's religious population participates in interpretive dance and chant, which involves the uttering of the phrase, Zsaia Fdqoais Tlu, Aczibu Vliakazaka Xu The Tyzjal, which serves as the clan's religious leader and is normally appointed by a Cueaosa (or, supreme judge), usually wanders the Peullton kin'toni region looking for lost kin'toni who have supposedly 'lost their way,' so to speak. They are made to a trial by fire to prove their faith.
