History

The Kujami kin'toni Clan was founded in 4E 30. The Kujami kin'toni Clan broke away from the Lerequa Kin'toni Clan because the founder of the Kujami kin'toni Clan tried to take over the Lerequa kin'toni Clan and failed. This was because the founder of the Kujami kin'toni Clan thought that they could lead the Lerequa kin'toni Clan better. By 4E 100, the Lerequa kin'toni Clan had split into two warring factions fighting for food because of the fact there were too many kin'toni to live on the food the Whysee Valley had. The result was a clan divided into two warring factions. The factions who called themselves the "Many", had around five thousand kin'toni and were most of the clan.

The other faction was the "Forgotten" who had around three thousand kin'toni, They called themselves that for they were they clan kin'toni that were the lower class in the clan. The Kujami kin'toni Clan had a lower class that did the menial work for a rich upper class that ruled, but did little work and lived in a very good way. In the Great War of the Shattering of the year 4E 150, the Many and the Forgotten had a war over the little food that was left. The Many won with the cost of the lives of around three hundred kin'toni. The Forgotten lost one thousand, five hundred kin'toni and had to run from the battle to avoid being wiped out forever.

The Kujami kin'toni Clan took many years to get back to having eleven thousand kin'toni, but in the year 4E 192, a cult called the "Followers of the Dark", based around a dark god that was forbidden from being worshipped was started in the clan in a group of upper-class kin'toni that in their desire to seek more riches, turned to a dark power. This god they turned to was called Ax'Dra. If it is real, this is not known. When the cult was culled, it took the lives of 250 kin'toni from the military to hunt down the five hundred kin'toni that were in the cult. When the cult was purged from the clan, the conflict killed most of the upper class.

The cult has not fully gotten rid of and its members scattered along with other kin'toni clans. They are still today trying to get more kin'toni and to grow. Today the Many are still around, but they now call themselves the "Lightbringers" and rule the kin'toni Clan, but there is only four hundred of them left. The lack of food killed many that were left and there had been raids from the Forgotten, now calling themselves the "Forsaken Kin". The Forsaken Kin's numbers are not known, but they seem to be getting more every year. Does this mean the battle is on its way, for the Forsaken Kin wish to get their own back on the Kujami kin'toni Clan and they dream to rule Terael.

Psychology

Most of the kin'toni in this clan are dreamers and philosophers. Lazy and slow to act, they nevertheless do possess great insight in their endless thinking. They often create ideas that fuel new revolutions, though many of their ponderings tend to be bunk, and although most of their ideas inspire new forms of protests and demonstrations, their plans are often thwarted by rivals and bitter enemies from the past. They often dream about the concept of one day ruling Terael, but there are other things that they supposedly have to focus on. Two of those other things which they must focus on to survive is avoiding starvation.

This is normally achieved by drinking the blood of larger animals and keeping themselves protected which generally is achieved when other fellow clan members band together to protect their homeland from invaders. The reason why both of these things are key in ensuring this clan's future survival and sometimes, a hidden psychological advantage in future skirmishes and both of these requirements are generally put to good use by fellow clan members in times where it is most convenient. When it comes to psychological aspects some of the clan members resolve their differences and arguments by channelling their inner philosopher.

And getting to the bottom of certain issues, and, whatever those issues might be, they use their sense of right and wrong to determine whether or not a certain action is good to take. It is generally good for kin'toni in this clan to think of solutions to everyday problems, such as how they will be able to make it through the night and how they will be able to sleep through the day without the sunlight burning them to death. Most kin'toni in this clan use their instincts to conjure up the common sense and street smarts required to make it through the night. For instance, they will generally think about which animal they should feed off of before approaching it.

In some cases, they will just think about certain things and not speak of such things out loud as it might capture the larger animal's attention and capture the larger animal to chase the kin'toni. Approaching the animal a certain way might or might not provoke it, depending on how they approach that certain animal. kin'toni in this clan have as traits: Egalitarianism, a personality trait characterised by the tendency to hold to the political doctrine that holds that all people should be treated as equals, and have the same political, economic, social, and civil rights and also:

Gregariousness, a personality trait characterized by the desire to want to belong to social groups and the tendency to enjoy group activities and work in groups and teams.

Biology

The Kujami are adapted to the cold, humid Waanyu Valley's cave systems. They are lean and wiry of build, with an flexible skeletal structure. Their limbs are elongated. The downside of this is being more fragile and less strong than other clans. They are lighter then the normal kin'toni as to aid climbing. But this means they can easily be knocked around by powerful concussive forces. Their skin is albino, and lacks all external pigmentation. This is due to an lack of light. Th downside of this is without any form of pigmentation, it is very vulnerable to sunlight.

They have skin cells that absorb humidity from the air, to lower their needs for open water sources. Their heads are coated in long fine, short white hair. They have whiskers embedded in facial and limb joints that are used to heir immediate surroundings through air pressure changes. The downside of this is that it is able to be overwhelmed with sudden, sharp, non-resonant noises. This leads to disorientation and temporary nausea. They have fully black eyes, adapted to pick up all light, but these eyes are sensitive to bright light, such as fire.

The ears are small, and pointed. The nose is very reduced externally, but has expanded internal olfactory chambers to capture subtle scents in stagnant air. They are poor at tacking trails outside, and worst in strong wind. Their teeth are extremely fine and needle-sharp for minimal-damage feeding. These teeth are easily chipped or broken on hard objects. Their claws are multi-jointed and retractile. They have rough gripping pads on their fingers and ties. These are good for vertical scaling, but poor at resisting blunt force trauma.

They have very elastic tendons and muscle tissue for body contortion as to allow moving though tight cave openings. These tissues are prone tearing under heavy, sustained loads and come with the trade off of reduced strength. The hands and feet are highly resistant to frostbite. This allows for more then normal exposure to the valley’s perpetual chill and wet stone. They have an slow-burning metabolism that is adapted for low-energy consumption. This allows them to survive long times between feeding. This prevents rapid adrenaline spikes, alongside bursts of speed.

This means they are poor sprinters or sustained fighters. They have an very concentrated internal hemoglobin structure to be able to function optimally with reduced oxygen levels in deep, poorly ventilated cave areas. They have an regenerative abilities optimized for bone and cartilage repair to help heal climbing-related injuries quickly. They have an adapted to efficiently process the blood of cave-dwelling mammals. These often have an lower nutrient profile. The downside of this is that richer, more complex blood, such as that of high order animals can give them digestive distress.

They have an unusually good spatial memory and magnetic field detection. This allows them to map and recall complex, three-dimensional cave and canyon networks. The body can produce a specialized, odorless pheromone that is used by clan members to track each other in the dark.

Culture

It is generally assumed by kin'toni and some zu'aan that the kin'toni in this particular clan seem to be very festive; however, according to these same individuals, the kin'toni in this clan also have a pretty strange and rather morbid sense of humour. During their night parties, which are generally held once every couple of weeks, Kujami clanmates will sometimes joke about how the founder of their clan, Sx'ion, was killed in a freak accident involving a sharp, inanimate object piercing through his skull when he landed on the wrong edge of it while playing a game of kin'toni Matador with some of his friends. Some often suggest that the blue wine that is often drunk at these parties are also dubbed as Sx'ion's 'blood drops'.

When fellow Kujami clanmates are not partying during the night in honour of their deceased founder, they will often hunt for large animals to drink blood from; these animals, despite having predominantly blue blood and considered cold-blooded, are surprisingly healthy and are often called Zaxkurs, which, in the Kujami clan's main language, translates to "frigid blood". Just like most of the other large animal species on Terael, their bite marks or wounds often heal very quickly, which may explain why they live an average lifespan of sixty years; however, the Zaxkur is often considered by Kujami clan members as the primary mascot and protector of their clan.

What is also most intriguing about this particular clan is how they sleep at night. There is no predominant style of sleeping for the kin'toni in this clan as some tend to sleep on their side, while others have been known to sleep on their stomachs, their backs, or even while standing or sitting; in some cases, according to some kin'toni, some of the kin'toni in this clan have been known to sleepwalk while unconscious or in a deep sleep, and before they know it they wake up at night to find themselves in a cave; however, they manage to find a way back to the Whysee Valley area just in time for their nightly hunt.

Although most clans can sleep underground, this clan is not so lucky as there is not enough room underground for them to sleep. During the day, to avoid sunlight, they sleep in tunnels located in the centre of the Whysee Valley region that more often than not lead directly to nearby caves. These caves are often quite dark during the day and have been known to reflect uncountable amounts of sunlight, which gives the Kujami clan the opening that they need when they need it. However, though, when they sleepwalk at night they can sometimes lose their footing and land face-first on the pavement, bruising themselves briefly; even so, the bruises don't last for long

Government

While the Lightbringers rule the Kujami clan, there is a council of 13 Lightbringers that dictate every aspect of each clan member's lives; this council, often referred to as the Omzsaon, is led by a king known as the Quion, which is supposedly the descendant of the founder of the Kujami clan, a kin'toni known as Sx'ion. The throne is passed on from generation to generation, especially now that the 529th generation of the Sx'ion bloodline now shares the leadership role among themselves. What is also common in this particular council is the use of symbolism to prove a point. Symbols are what define the Omzsaon.

Each council member has a distinct marking tattooed on their chest, which is often referred to as a mauqo, and each council member's mauqo has a different colour. The colours of each council member's mauqo can be one of thirteen colours — either red, black, white, blue, green, turquoise, purple, pink, yellow, orange, silver, bronze, or gold — but the latter three coloured mauqo symbols are branded on the shirts of the Lauy (the Quion's enforcer), the Zaunmo (the Lauy's advisor), and the Quion (the king and primary leader of the Omzsaon). The first two aforementioned leaders also serve as religious guides.

Unlike most governments in kin'toni'ati society, the Omzsaon never votes collectively on anyone legislative topic that is brought up for consideration. Instead, each of the three Omzsaon leaders' fellow officials proposes different legislative ideas on how to better their clan, and after the ideas are tallied, each of the three main leaders of the Kujami clan holds a private meeting underground to discuss which idea seems the most reasonable. A decision is made by the Quion on behalf of himself and the Lauy and Zaunmo once they return from their underground deliberation, indicating that a final decision has officially been made.

What is often overlooked by most kin'toni'ati political analysts is that the Omzsaon is one of the more powerful collective governments in the kin'toni'ati society of the continent that the Kujami kin'toni Clan lives on, having more political power than most other clans on the continent; however, because of their lack of numbers, this also comes with the downside of not having a distinctively organized military, and since there are only a few thousand Kujami kin'toni left in existence, every single decision made by the three main leaders of this clan is very critical and may determine their long-term survival or sheer extinction.

Military

This clan's military, often referred to as the Malu'Ti, used to be fairly strong in numbers; however, after the Shattering in 4E 100 to 4E 150 this clan's military began to take a sharp nosedive, and this was caused as a direct result of a shortage of food and a dramatic increase in hunger, famine, and death. The Malu'Ti now have close to 400 soldiers left because of this, but there is another group of rebels from the exiled cult of the same name. They are called Followers of the Dark and are hidden within this clan. This cult, which has supposedly been operating in secret for the last five thousand years.

And maybe seeking to wipe out the Lightbringers altogether, leaving a trail of bloodshed, extinction, and destruction in their wake. The Lightbringers thought them exiled. The kin'toni in this military, who often refer to themselves as Nuat'Lila, are controlled and led by the Omzsaon, which gives them a specific set of commands to follow during missions, crusades, and other military-related things. Two of the Omzsaon's councillors, also known respectively as the Deputy Lightbringer and the Chief Lightbringer, preside over the Malu'Ti and regularly juggle training the Malu'Ti for future combat missions with their political positions in the Omzsaon.

However, there is also a distinct and unique initiation process that must transpire when one is interested in becoming one of the Malu'Ti. It goes as follows: During the enrollment process, the Lightbringer in training agrees with one of the main military leaders to undergo a unique and demanding basic training saga, mainly with both the Chief and Deputy Lightbringer present. During the basic training saga, the Nuat'Lila in training will undergo two physicals each day, both of which last approximately 90 minutes. This process repeats itself for more than several weeks, and after the basic training, the saga is complete.

Both the Deputy and Chief Lightbringer will hold a meeting with the members of the Omzsaon to determine if the Lightbringer in training is ready to become one of the Malu'Ti. From there one of three things will happen: First of all if it is determined that the Nuat'Lila in training has excelled enough to become a Kujami soldier, the Deputy Lightbringer will meet with the trainee and inform him that his training is complete and that he must report to duty in one week, at which point the trainee can rise the ranks to become a leader. In a second case, if it's determined that the Nuat'Lila in training has not improved enough to become one of the Malu'Ti.

Deputy Lightbringer will meet with the trainee and give him the option of either undergoing basic training a second time later on down the road or continuing his current life of hunting and gathering. Finally, if all of the councillors in the Omzsaon can't come to a unanimous decision, the Nuat'Lila in training will be informed by both the Deputy and Chief Lightbringers that he must undergo basic training again at a later time.

Religion

Sx'ion is often considered by his descendants as the father of the Modern kin'toni'ati religion. He was a devout believer in the religion he helped found; this religion, known as Mazxoto, is a religion that worships all animals, no matter how big or small. Sometimes Sx'ion had been known to kneel before an animal and praise it to show how religious he was, and this was often displayed in front of his colleagues and peers. For the last few decades of his life, he was dubbed the Kujami clan's religious leader and advisor, a position that he took very seriously upon his knowledge that most of his clan believed in Mazxoto.

In the generations and centuries that followed it was concluded by kin'toni of other clans that the kin'toni in this particular clan were considered one of the most religiously inspired clans in all of Terael. Just like with other clans of other similar predominant faiths it was often assumed that the followers of Mazxoto, right after drinking some of the blood of a large animal, would kneel before it and praise it; however, they would also turn away while in a kneeling position and pray for the large animal's forgiveness.

And that often would result in the animal making a purring sound to say that it has forgiven the Kujami kin'toni for committing what the kin'toni believed at the time was a sin. In the midnight hour once every couple of weeks the whole Kujami population would gather together in one secluded spot to engage in a religious worship ritual that involves both song and interpretive dance, during which such common kin'toni'ati instruments like the Wrom (a five-string kin'toni'ati violin), the Virya (the kin'toni'ati equivalent to a large timpani that consists of two heads in one container)

And the Ziox (a multiple-octave trumpet) would be played in a harmonious but disjointed manner. Following this comes a moment of silence as everyone bows their heads briefly in remembrance of their clan's founder, and then a brief sermon. It is also generally assumed that kin'toni in this clan have a distinct sense of religious insight as it pertains to Mazxoto culture and beliefs. One can also assume that a kin'toni in this clan who is a devout believer of Mazxoto dedicates his nights to the animals of his world, as well as the clouds in the night sky, which are sometimes a transparent grey.

Not many kin'toni have concluded this, however, because of a diverse array of religions and religious beliefs that the aforementioned kin'toni seem to believe in and choose as their respective faiths.

Miscellany

One of a few things that are often misconceived or overlooked as regards this clan involves the determination of where tattoos can be found on a kin'toni's body. In this clan, almost everyone has at least one tattoo somewhere on their body; however, the location of the tattoo varies depending on the clan member. For some kin'toni in this clan, the tattoo could appear somewhere on the left or right leg, and for others, the tattoo could appear somewhere on their backs; nonetheless, to show their loyalty to their religion of choice, they often get a coloured tattoo of a large animal (such as an Enyik, which is a bat-lynx hybrid) either on their stomach, their backs, their arms, or their legs.

Sometimes when it is determined that a Kujami kin'toni has committed certain wrongdoing, that Kujami kin'toni will be tried in front of his peers. If found innocent, he will walk a free kin'toni and continue his lifestyle; however, if he is found guilty, the accused must then do a good deed to be acquitted of the crime. How this particular system works, however, is often considered rather strange, for the bigger the crime the more remarkable the good deed will be, and this can often lead to a psychological battle within oneself. In this clan, some of the kin'toni have been known to walk through flames as a result of their crime is so heinous.

What is also overlooked about this clan is the coat of arms, which was supposedly designed by clan founder Sx'ion many years ago. The coat of arms for the Kujami clan consists of a Liv'Varr (a bear-like creature) and an Enyik facing each other with a pair of perpendicular swords on the top and bottom and a shield. The message, which simply says, "Zsaoq Axtumu," literally means, from Me'an to English, "Fight Hard And Go Far." Some kin'toni consider this motto one of the most intimidating in kin'toni'ati society, but there are others, such as several from the Minemi clan, who suggest that this motto might not have such a strong meaning after all.

Another important thing to consider about this clan that is often overlooked or misinterpreted is the fact that not all of the kin'toni in this clan have a tattoo. Some have turn marks from when they were turned, and those marks serve as their turn marks because they appeared on either the left or right side of their necks and are often considered permanent scars that will never go away. Several kin'toni from across Terael have studied their so-called "turn marks" in the past and concluded that they aren't birthmarks, but rather permanent scars. Some kin'toni agree to disagree, claiming that Kujami turn marks are transparent upon the initial bite, but over time they begin to show more and more.
