Kimetdar Kin'toni Clan
History
The Kimetdar clan had always been a wandering clan. For as long as they lived, they wandered Taerel in search of a place that they could call home. They were picky people, so most of the places that they had found that would work for their clan ended up being turned down by their clan. The leaders of the clan continued to turn down other places for their clan to live, consistently stating that the land wasn’t good for them, and that they wouldn’t be able to live there properly. Eventually, some of the members of the clan realized that they were most likely never going to find a home that suited them, and this caused them to go out and search on their own.
There were smaller groups that would leave the clan and look for homes as well, but even then, they weren't able to find anything that they liked. Every land that they looked at had something wrong with it, and so they would pass it by in hopes that the next one would be what they were looking for. Usually, they would spend time at each place. The leaders of the clan would find a nice place for them to lay down their camp, and they would try to make it work for up to a week. They didn’t last that long at some places, while at others they would last longer before they found something that they didn’t like.
There were things they would look for, such as hills that were too steep, or if the land was too flat, that they could complain about and use as leverage to be able to leave. They did this quite often and thus they would move on to the next place, only to find something wrong with it and leave yet again. Sometimes, they would go back to some of the places that they had already and been, and said that they didn’t like, and they would camp there again. This was because they needed somewhere to stay when they didn’t want to travel, and these other places were the closest thing to what they were looking for, so they figured that they would be able to stay there for a while.
This enabled them to figure out where they would be going next, as well as allowing the to rest for a while. Since they wandered so much, they didn’t have any partnerships with other clans as they never stuck around long enough to form any. Instead, they would visit the other clans so that they could get what they needed, and so they could relax before they would have to go back out and travel. While they didn’t spend long times in the same place, when they would visit other clans, they would make sure to have fun and to enjoy themselves.
This allowed for them to be able to make friends with other kin’toni, especially if they were looking into living in that area, as they knew that having friends there would make it easier for them to live there.
Biology
As it was known that the Kimetdar clan was travelling in search of their new home, their bodies reflected this. They were skinny and malnourished; their bodies lean as they spent their time travelling. Since they had spent so much time travelling, they had abundant muscles in their legs, but they had much smaller muscles in their arms. Just looking at them showed the difference, as their legs were thick, and their arms were long and slender. Since they were so used to walking around, they could do so for hours, but when it came to anything else, it would take them far longer to accomplish the tasks.
They weren't able to lift anything heavier, and they weren't able to carry things for long distances with their arms as it would begin to hurt them. Because of this. They had figured out how to rig their bags and packs to their backs without putting too much weight on their shoulders and arms so that they could carry them wherever they were going without having to worry about the weight hurting them. The way they would carry their packs only added to the muscle on their legs as they walked, and thus continued to have them out of balance.
When looking as the Kimetdar kin’toni, it could be seen that they had tan skin. Their complexion was darker, and their skin had become thicker to adapt to other climates as they lived in them for short periods of time. While their skin had stayed the same beautiful tan color that it had always been, it had gotten tougher and thicker. In doing so, the Kimetdar clan wasn’t able to tell if or when they had been injured as they had lost most of the feeling on their skin. Unless it was a deeper wound, they weren't able to tell that they had been hurt unless someone told them, or they eventually noticed it.
Sometimes, this lack of feeling caused some of the kin’toni to die as they had retained injuries that had gotten infected and killed them. As well, this thick skin had made it harder for them to survive in climates that were too hot or too cold as the kin’toni weren't able to tell the difference, and thus they wouldn’t know when they were supposed to be wearing certain clothes, and this would mean that they would wither freeze or overheat before they realized it was happening. Because of this, some of them had lost limbs from the cold, as they didn’t realize before it was too late, and the best course of action was to cut the limb off instead of having an infection that could kill them.
Others had suffered heat stroke, and their minds had been forever altered by the heat. They weren’t as able to do tasks as other kin’toni were, and that meant that they weren’t as smart or as versatile as their peers, but they would try and do just as much as they did so that they didn’t look weak.
Culture
Since they were almost always looking for somewhere new to live, the Kimetdar clan didn’t have quite as many practices that they used. They would do what they could to fit in and do things together as a clan, but that would most consist of eating and travelling. Otherwise, they were all very much on their own with their time, and they would all do different things with their time. As it had been stated previously, there was a group of kin’toni in the Kimetdar clan that would spend their time travelling on their own to see if they could find a place to live.
Once they found one that they liked, they would try and sway the leaders of the clan to do what they wanted, but it wouldn’t always work. Try as they might, the leaders of the Kimetdar clan were the most selfish and picky kin’toni in the clan, meaning that if something wasn’t absolutely perfect to them, they would turn it down. While they were travelling and looking for their next place to live, the members of the clan would spend their time celebrating birthdays, playing cards, and talking amongst themselves. Since they didn’t have any land that they needed to cultivate, they wouldn’t have any chores that they would need to get done so they were able to do whatever it is that they wanted to do.
The only things that they were responsible for taking care of were going out to get blood to drink, and making sure their things were packed away so that they were easy to grab when they had to grab them to move. When they would celebrate birthdays, they would set up specific tents where they would go to dance, sing, and have fun until they couldn’t anymore. The one having the birthday would be the one that would choose the music that would play, and since they had some instruments that they would travel with, they would be able to play whatever they knew how to play.
They were constantly learning and making new songs, but because they were so picky, many of the songs wouldn’t see the light of day. They would spend hours working on them so that they might have something that they were proud to show off to the other members of the clan, but if something was too hard for them to change, they would give up on it and start fresh. Because of their picky mentality, they didn’t have too many hobbies that they would partake in. This was because they weren’t able to decide what it is that they wanted to do, and that made it harder for them to make friends within their clan as there weren’t many things that they were able to bond over.
Aside from the group that was dedicated to finding a new place to live, there weren’t any kin’toni that had anything in common enough to make them want to spend more time together.
Government
Because of the amount of time that the Kimetdar clan would spend travelling, they didn’t have a lot of time to dedicate to politics. They were able to come up with laws that ensured that they were all heard equally, and they were able to appoint their leaders so that they could make sure that the place they chose to live was acceptable for all of them. But aside from those things, they weren’t able to find the time to want to participate in elections because they saw no issues with the leaders that they had within the clan.
When a leader would pass away or resign, the other leaders would simply find another kin’toni to add, but they wouldn’t let the members of the clan vote on the decision. It was something that they would announce once they had found someone else, and it would usually come as a shock to the other members of the clan. However, they would always accept the decision. Some of the laws that the Kimetdar clan had were; they would have to move at least every two weeks so that they could keep looking for a new place to live, they would have to listen to the leaders when they said that they didn’t like a place.
And they weren’t allowed to question the decision, and finally, if they didn’t like a decision that was made, they were more than free to leave the clan. These were the only things that were decided on within the clan, as they were believed to be the core beliefs, or the laws that needed to be followed.
Contrary to the beliefs of the members of the clan, the laws weren’t something that the leaders had just decided on one day. They were ideas that the members of the clan had come up with, and the leaders had decided to turn into laws.
Since they were so picky, the laws were seen as something that they never wanted to change because they were one of the few things that the members of the clan had decided on easily.
Therefore, they didn’t want to risk changing them and have there be no laws because they couldn’t decide on new ones. When members of the clan would leave because they didn’t like a decision that was made, they would usually end up sneaking back into the clan, but they would hide so that the leaders didn’t know they were there. Once they were back, they would hide within the group of kin’toni that were looking for a better place to live. This was to ensure that they wouldn’t be ratted out for sneaking back into he clan, as the group didn’t follow many of the laws that had been put into place.
However, they would not break the laws in a way that they would get sent out of the clan. Instead, they would break them within their group as they knew that they would be protected when they did so
Military
Because of the picky nature of the clan, there was no Military in place. They weren’t able to decide if they wanted to have a military, and so they didn’t have one. Since they were always moving around, they didn’t have a need to have an army that would be there to protect them, as they would move as soon as there was even a small threat to their clan. They didn’t want to have any sort of altercation with other kin’toni so instead of staying there and waiting, or even trying to talk to them, they would choose to leave so that they couldn’t be found and possibly killed.
They knew that when they did visit other clans, they would get laughed at for how picky they were about where they wanted to live. The leaders would usually end up being the centre of fights that happened as they would try and criticize everything they could about the clan they were visiting. That would mean that they would be kicked out o the clan and told that they were no longer welcome there. Sometimes, this also meant that they would have the clan coming after them with the intent to fight or kill them because they had been offended.
At one time, there had been a group of kin’toni within the clan that had decided that they would be the protectors of the clan. They wanted to forge weapons and armour, or at least find them and they wanted to use them to be the ones that protected their clan while they were travelling.
This had worked for a couple of years, the army surrounding the rest of the clan as they were travelling, as well as keeping them safe when they would get into fights with other clans. They were proud of who they were as they were able to keep their clan safe, but eventually they noticed that they had less and less to do.
As time went on, there was no longer a need for the military, as the leaders had decided that they felt better running away from the conflict rather than sacrificing the lived of their members so that they could stay where they were. This meant that they would be moving around more frequently, and that they no longer had any need for their weapons. As they knew that they didn’t need their weapons, them being most swords and bows with some arrows, they started to trade them or sell to them other clans. They knew that they wouldn’t need them for anything so they decided that they would sell them to other clans.
However, the problem with this was that they would sell them for far more than they were worth as they believed that they deserved the money for weapons that were barely or never used. Other clans would end up buying what they were offering, but they would complain about it as they did.
Religion
The Kimetdar clan had relinquished any type of religion long before they had started to move around more frequently. Since they were picky, they knew that they wouldn’t be able to follow any set type of religion, and that they were better off not having one. When the clan was still small, there was the belief that a higher power would tell them when they found the place that they were meant to live. They would sit down and they would pray that the next place they found was the one that they were going to stay at, and that they would finally have a place to call their home. They believed this for many years as it was initially something that helped them to get through the long days of travelling.
However, soon there were many other kin’toni that had joined the clan that had started to doubt the higher power the others were praying to. They would ask questions that the believers weren’t able to answer, so they slowly started to doubt their own faith. Eventually, more and more believers started to find fault with the higher powers that they believed in, and they slowly stopped praying to them. They decided that they wouldn’t be able to find any gods to properly believe in because they were always able to find faults in believing in them.
Finally, the leaders had decided to announce that the clan wouldn’t have a set religion as even they weren’t able to find anything good enough to believe in, and so they said that the clan didn’t need to have a religion. They noticed that with the religious aspect removed from their clan, they were able to focus more on the things that they needed to, such as finding the faults in places that they were visiting, and trying to preach to other clans that their homes weren’t good enough. At one point, there had been members of the clan that had tried to say that they worshipped the leaders of the clan.
Because they were always able to find the faults in places that even the other members of the clan weren’t able to find. While they appreciated that their members were willing to worship them for what they were able to do, they quickly shut down the religion built on the leaders as they knew that they would never be good enough for the title of god, or even higher power. So they thanked the believing members of the clan and announced that they were just kin’toni as the other members were.
They thought that in announcing that they didn’t want to be gods would mean that the clan would stop trying to worship them, but they noticed that the clan would still try to, and that they would say how smart and humble the leaders were for knowing that they weren’t good enough to be gods. Sadly the clan didn’t want to stop believing that their leaders were gods, and that became the reason that the leaders were listened to without a second thought
