The Flooded Grassland of Lyss first came into the hands of the Uryinsa Clan, founded in 3E 15. They came to this region as the nearby Atyal-Lysh Broadleaf Forest was claimed by the Clael kin'toni Clan and when the Fyltir kin'toni Clan tried to drive the Clael kin'toni Clan out of their region, they failed and was driven to a flooded grassland region to the east of the Atyal-Lysh Broadleaf Forest. The clan named the region "Flooded Grassland of Loss" due to the many losses their clan had at the hands of the Clael kin'toni Clan.
In the year in the year 3E 35 Alec was turned by one of the kin'toni in the Uryinsa clan. After months of relentless training, Alech would eventually win that tournament to become the clan's new leader. In the year 3E 43, the governing board of Fyltir clan was founded, the clan's founder immediately began to meet with the clan's allies with the intent of merging the clans together. After nearly five years of failed attempts, two of the clan's allies in the Zianzacyl and Quivylrza clans came to the region. The clans soon merged and would be referred to as the Fyltir Kin'toni Clan. This statement was made public in the year 3E 41.
The clan did not fight much during the Shattering, but for a few raids on other nearby clans. They had been on the defensive for most of the Shattering. One big battle was when the region was attacked by the Clael Kin'toni Clan, who was wanting revenge and did not attack before as they were building up their numbers. They attacked at dusk from the woodlands they called their own from the northern parts of the border with the Grassland. They were driven away, but at the cost of two hundred lives from the Fyltir kin'toni Clan, around five hundred of the Clael kin'toni Clan was killed.
After this battle, the Fyltir kin'toni Clan sent around three-hundred kin'toni onward into the Atyal-Lysh Broadleaf Forest. Only a few returned, having killed over a hundred Cael kin'toni, but losing many along the way. After the Shattering, they have not been attacked much, but for by the Cael kin'toni clan. Those attacks are just skirmishes and small raids most of the time. They sometimes hop the border to the nearby Atyal-Lysh Broadleaf Forest region to hunt for food and to scavenge for other resources. Sometimes they raid outlying Cael kin'toni settlements. With the Ice Age coming, they might have to move south,
Geography
This region is in one of the more temperate parts of Terael. It is on the continent of G'Aka. The Atyal-Lysh Broadleaf Forest is to the east of the region and the border between the regions is marked by a large and sluggish river. This river is called the River Nakas. To the west of the region, there is the Vardi Brackish Marsh, the border is marked by piles of stones that were put there ages ago and are sinking into the marsh. To the north, there is the Avaia Peat Swamp Forest. South of the great limestone cliff in the south of the region is a dryer grassland region called the Haad Grasslands.
One set of places in this region is the Tle Cyvynav Tysyae (or, The Forgotten Caverns). These are three caverns located within the western parts of the region. These caves had been forgotten by their ancestors and abandoned, but now have been rediscovered by the modern Fyltir kin'toni. The caves are all flooded and go rather deep under the waters of this region. The first cave is named Hanu Tysi (Lost Caves), It has formed as irregular large rooms, galleries, and passages. It is the closest to the surface and the most well known. This cave is deep within a large pool of water.
The next cave is called Cyvyn Valar (Forgotten Hole). This cave is jagged and irregular in shape but forms a vertical shaft that is around thirty feet in diameter and around five hundred feet deep. Joining at all diffident depths along the shaft's height, there is a network of smaller rooms and passages. It is not as well known as the Hanu Tysi. The last cave is called Tle Sadaca Tysi (The Pitted Caves). These caves have cavities that form a pattern that is three-dimensional and random, resembling a sponge. This cave is the most remote and unknown in the Tle Cyvynav Tysyae.
The largest cave within the region is called the Nahi Tysari (Moon Cavern). This is a large cave that is roughly ovoid in shape and is around three hundred feet in diameter and around fifty feet tall. It is located in the drier southern parts of the region on the far western side of a great limestone cliff that partly separates it from the region to the south. The great cliff has many tunnels that lead deep into it and this is where many of the clan live. It is the place where the military activities of the clan are led by the Muzyrb (or, Military) branch and where the Bvrydal government of the clan is based.
Another cave in the region is called the Lzoazj (or, sacred church). This cave is roughly round in shape and is around one-hundred feet in diameter and around fifty feet tall. This cave is where sixty per cent of the Fyltir kin'toni population meet in this cave to worship their planet's three moons. The cave also stores valuable goods that the clan has gathered in deeper parts. It is part of the same great limestone cliff as the Nahi Tysari. This cliff is called Naas Anau (Great Cliff) has many caves that Fyltir Clan kin'toni lives in or store resources in. It is well defended.
Plants
Plants of this region include many forms of grasses that are called uagadval ahask (wetland grass) by the Fyltir kin'toni clan. These grasses have blade-like leaves that are dark green in colour with red tips. These grasses grow very well in the pools of water in this region. They need lots of water to be able to live and do not tolerate dry places very well. These plants grow to around five feet tall and is able to grow very fast. The seeds are spread in the water and germinate within a week. The plants are very common thought the region. It is used to weave clothing by local kin'toni.
Another plant is called the varru adiam (floating flower). These plants have large round leaves that are silvery in colour and a large flower that has around thirty petals that are white to light blue in colour. The plant floats on the water wing. Its roots go deep under the water and far around the plant. The plant spreads it seeds by the winds and in the water currents. It takes around a year to grow to full size and can live for around five years. It is a common plant within the entire region. The plant has a sweet smell that resembles honey that is used to attract flying animals to pollinate it.
Another plant is called the zerno adiam (blood flower). This plant grows to around three feet tall and has roots that can spread to around nine feet. It is a short bush that has dark red berries, light blue leaves and grey bark. Its flowers are large, dark red in colour and have many small petals. It spreads its seeds by living beings ingesting the berries. The plant grows rather slowly but can live for up to ten years. The plant is thought to be able to feed on blood for more nutrients. The plant grows best in dappled shade. It is ground up by local kin'toni to be used as a numbing paste for wounds.
Another plant is called the adreba chedan, this plant grows under the water as long strands that grow to around ten feet long. The plant is a light blue-green in colour and does not have any flowers. Its steams are thick and rough to the touch. It spreads its seeds via water currant. It grows quickly and lives for around a year to three years. It grows in shallow waters the best and it can survive strong sunlight. It is shelter for a large number of organisms. This plant is very common thought the region. It is used to make ropes and to be woven into cloth by the local kin'toni clan.
Animals
The animals of this region include the ynzora, which is a large animal that has four limbs, thick waterproof fur that is light grey in colour and eyes that have a third eyelid. It is around six feet long and weighs around one hundred pounds. It has claws on its feet that are used to uproot plants to eat. It lives under the waters of this region and never comes out. It makes more of its kind by live birth of one to three young at a time. The young take around a year to be able to look after themselves. Ynzora can live for over ten years. They eat uagadval ahask (wetland grasses) and adreba chedan.
Another animal is the avainni. This is a small vertebrate that has blue scaled skin and large eyes (and very good vision). It is around a foot long and can weigh up to two pounds. It has large fins for moving underwater. It extracts oxygen that is dissolved in water through gills. It is cold-blooded.It eats plants and smaller water-living animals. This animal lays around one hundred eggs at a time that hatch in around four weeks after laying. The young take around a year to grow to full size and it can live to around a year in age. It is hunted for food by kin'toni and by some animals.
Another animal is the baydgad, a large animal that has four limbs, scales for skin that is grey-blue to silver in colour. It is around three feet long and can weigh about six pounds. It has a tail that can grow to a foot long in length. It lives under the water but has to come up for air. It feeds on the water grasses and algae that grow in this region. Males and females live in family groups. It spreads most of its time in the water, but comes onto land to mate and to nest and lay eggs. It lies between one and six eggs that take around eight weeks to hatch. It takes around five to eight years to reach sexual maturity.
Another animal is the yaubsa, this animal is around six feet long and weighs around one hundred pounds. It has thick grey scales that are thick enough to be armour and long sharp claws and teeth. It has thick bones and some redundant organs. It can not take oxygen from the water and has to come up for oxygen at least once every half hour. It feeds on smaller animals like the baydgad and the avainni. Males and females live alone but come together during the spring breeding season. It lies between one and six eggs that take around sixteen weeks to hatch. It takes around eight to ten years to reach sexual maturity.
