History

The history of the Kimaugh tribal zu'aan begins as an incredibly gritty tale that displays the survivability that the members of this tribe have put in the effort to comprehend the needs that are imposed onto them by the harsh reality of the Shattering Age, though it was done in quite a unique way, via the adaptation of the waste of the old world as a means to create the basis for a future society that is more resilient, though probably way less hygienic. Before the year of 4E 417, we observed a society that existed within a region that was previously nothing more than an industrial basin from the old world.

Namely characterized as the third sector of such basin, though there exists a large lack of documentation that even made these zu'aan know about this information. This third sector from the old industrial basin, though extremely decayed and now fully rusty, was namely responsible for the accumulation of a complex series of chemical refineries, namely responsible for containing treatment plants and even a couple of iron foundries; this made it so the region had a couple of tons of chemicals that were stored away for many years.

Even despite the lack of knowledge that the members of the tribe had about it, basically leaving for them a big accident that was simply on the edge of always happening, always one slip-up and messy accident away from destroying much of what those zu'aan had come to develop and work on, and that accident came within the year of 4E 76. Much of the integrity of this industrial infrastructure came to be slowly decayed away as the years passed and as the effects of the Shattering Age started to take their tolls upon the region.

Which led to slow cracks to be created within the metallic structure of the old industry, which led to an event whee a kin'toni attack led many of the zu'aan to retreat quickly and thoughtlessly back into their old region; as those kin'toni kept advancing forward attempting to pursue them, a large charge was redirected onto an old refinery, which made it so the crack increased to the point where it broke, and such as does a domino, it took away much of the safety from other pieces of infrastructure by a long amount of unreleased pressure to simply explode.

Releasing many of those chemicals upon the lands occupied by the Kimaugh tribal zu'aan. Due to these events, much of the chemicals slowly began to take place and replace many of the crucial parts of the cycles that take place within the tribe's environment and slowly transformed their only water source, which led to the creation of the artificial biome called the Ight'eld Dirty Lake, which is where the Kimaugh tribal zu'aan now choose to live in, though going through many changes as to allow their lifestyle to remain within these newfound conditions.

Developing much of the tribe into becoming a fair new form of civilization based around the waste that has altered their environment.

Psychology

The psychology of the Kimaugh tribal zu'aan defines a worldview that attempts to shape itself around being fully pragmatic and materialistic by its very nature, although it prioritizes taking the total utility of just about everything that comes in the way of the zu'aan for the tribe despite it leading to deep-rooted chemical cynicism in the manners of which they behave with the altering environmental cycles around them. All of these consequences are very clearly drawn from how the tribe was based and created around a catastrophic industrial accident that came to shape much of how their tribe exists.

Leading to a relation to their bonds and their land, and to Taerel as a whole, as not a region to be loved, or perhaps a figure which nurtures them, but to observe the world around them as a machine that needs to be maintained just to remain functional, which is what they themselves need so they're able to survive. One of the main consequences that are brought forward by the fact the tribe basically lives within a lake of chemical waste is how the tribe has developed and instilled a deep psychological sense.

Which leads to the compulsion that denies the members of the Kimaugh tribal zu'aan the right to even consider letting something go to waste in the first place. This whole ordeal leads it so the members of the Kimaugh tribal zu'aan engage in a sort of psyche-based zero-scrap self-policing sort of behavior, where nothing is actually treated as trash if it still has even the slightest use; smells are thoroughly ignored, without mentioning taste which is seen as nothing more than a mere privilege,

Which leads so they view the world through a lens of extremely direct and strict extraction, trying to spoil themselves of nothing more than the pure usability that a material or object may have in any of the stages of said object's existence. Which, despite the inherent nastiness to turning much materials that are nothing more than filth into reusables, also leads to a culture that bases itself off a lot of recycling, which makes it so the members of the Kimaugh tribal zu'aan never run out of resources quantity-wise.

As much as they do quality-wise, such as by reusing bolts and scrap metals for weapons instead of getting rid of them. All of these harsh and poor conditions the tribe is subjected to also shapes their behavior into being extremely strict and thick in many of their potential defensive layers, which makes it so the members of the tribe are extremely blunt and lack any sort of etiquette when they're engaging in conversations with other members of the tribe or members from the outside; social cues are extremely blunt and direct.

Which makes them come off as extremely rude and cold to anyone who's not used to the psychological framework of the Kimaugh tribal zu'aan.

Culture

The culture of the Kimaugh tribal zu'aan allows the rest of the world of zu'aan and Taerel as a whole to observe the consequences of shaping a society around all of the scientific prowess that is drawn from industrial alchemy while never negating the corrosive consequences that shape most of the resilience the members of the tribe are famously known for. This leads to quite an interesting cultural framework, one where any foreign individual would look at the infrastructure of the Kimaugh as a group of floating junk.

While for the member of the tribe, every single thing is a vast array of cogs that are perfectly tuned within a massive machine, telling stories with each leak and crust, all as a means to celebrate all the beauties that are drawn from what is fundamentally broken. Since the actual healthy living space within the tribe is extremely limited due to the dirty river, the places where culture is actually distributed within the tribe are places with extremely high levels of populational density.

Basically lots of markets with a high density of flavors that display levels of content that come from each little spot within the tribe. In these spaces, not only does trade take place, be those via the trading of metallic materials for things such as food or perhaps even pieces of local literature, but they are also responsible for holding up some of the key events that keep the tribe's morale quite high despite their poor living conditions. Detailing more on these specific events, we see certain rituals that take place every week.

Which are extremely basic when observing tribes as a whole, but are still able to draw huge levels of attention amongst the tribe members that are, undoubtedly, bored and bothered due to their living conditions; these events can be from theater plays, oftentimes displaying the misery within filth while never denying its capability for changing their society as a whole, but sometimes even public battles and duels (rarely to the death) as a way to ritualistically display the strength of the Kimaugh zu'aan.

These events are often able to gather a vast majority of the members of the tribe, which take upon these events as not only a means for social bonding, but also a manner to make themselves proud of being able to survive the harsh conditions that are so clearly displayed within the tribe's artistic expressions. Furthermore, it's impossible to talk about the artistic expression of the Kimaugh tribal zu'aan without mentioning the reshaping of old and rusty steel into steam pipes,

Which have become a stark display of the tribe's uniqueness and how their expressions display a reutilization of harsh conditions into a flairful display, leading to the creation of a quite creative and unique auditory culture; an example of this is how the wind is blown through many sets of not only personal level trombones, but also hollow industrial chimneys that hiss steam out to a constant hum that gives the tribe a tune that, for many, allows them to remain sane.

Government

The governance style of the Kimaugh tribal zu'aan bases itself around a non-centralized form of government, which leads to a system that bases itself around a self-entitled sort of syndicalist technocracy, which builds, upon the basis of a world made of rust and high-pressure steam, political power around the competence that is needed to run the different sectors that allow the tribe to function, something that is done with the purpose of only giving roles of leadership to members of the tribe that are able to truly maintain the tribe in the case of another sort of catastrophe.

Basically following a basis doctrine that says if you can't or aren't able to fix the threats below the tribe in their river, you shouldn't have any right to lead the people who are able to live above it. The head of government that is responsible for running the highest level of decision-making within the tribe is a leader given the title of Marisob, a position that is cycled every two years through direct elections that every adult member of the tribe partakes in; these elections happen once every month during the election year.

To slowly rule out the members of the tribe that aren't truly capable of running and regulating the matters of the tribe; oftentimes few leaders actually place themselves in a position to be voted for which leads for these elections to only take around 4 months. The Marisob is not only chosen as the most experienced member of the Kimaugh tribal zu'aan, but also for being experienced administrators of order that are responsible for organizing many of the key components necessary for the distribution of functions within the tribe and organizing much of how the logistics of the tribe are configured.

One of the Marisob's primary responsibilities is having to micromanage the chemical balance within the Ight'eld Dirty Lake, as to make sure no big change currently happens within the environmental cycles that the members of the tribe have come to get used to, and within more secondary positions of responsibility, the Marisob are also given the tasks of maintaining and stabilizing the well-being of all of the infrastructure which the tribe still uses. The law of the tribe follows much of their religion and isn't exactly altered.

Especially considering that, within the tribe's recorded history, few changes have been made other than general alterations decided mostly by the Marisob, leading to quite a consistent law system that, while still conservatively empty in many of their sectors, is able to thoroughly regulate much of how the tribe organizes themselves within and around the dirty lake; not only that, this law is responsible for shaping much of how the tribe members observe the outside zu'aan world, regulating so they make very little contact with foreigners.

Limiting any access to travel via the lake and creating incredibly strict borders that are designed with the idea of keeping the members of the tribe in.

Military

The military of the Kimaugh tribal zu'aan teaches all of the life within Taerel an extremely intricate display of utilizing the environment as a means of warfare, which sort of makes them attempt to recreate and revise much of their history by taking tactics of sabotage and disaster for their advantage; though, back on the environmental warfare part, this tribe has it a lot easier when their whole environment is toxic to anyone but them who have learned to adapt themselves to it through many cycles of trial and error.

This military armed forces doesn't possess the same nature as many other armored or prettily dressed warriors; it is just as aesthetically pleasing as taking murky holes within the most disgusting biomes and turning that into a plate of armor that allows the Kimaugh to do nothing more but survive while keeping themselves always within the range of disgustingness, all following the fruits given by the structure of the Ight'eld Dirty Lake, an ecosystem which also extends itself to shaping much of the tribe's arsenal.

Which is poisonous to any enemies that come and attempt to face and challenge the tribe, basically allowing for the establishment of a simple doctrine which states if you can't handle poison and mucus, you cannot survive the strength of the Kimaugh. This doctrine also extends itself through many means within its structure, be it following the historical examples of what has come to properly destroy a society, or be it by an attempt to replicate their self-declared pragmatic psychology.

Leading to the fact that their army often operates primarily through tactics that focus on sabotage, surprise, and quick relentless strikes, such as guerrilla strikes combined with types of ambushes and quick-witted invasions. One of the main weapons utilized by this army to strengthen their tactic abilities is the creation of masks, that are definitely lower quality in comparison to the technology other tribes might have in the same period of time, but still work as a means to allow them to breathe and filter the air within the environment.

Letting them sometimes dive into the toxic silt of their dirty river for hours on end, always ready to ambush any sort of invading armies that might decide to cross over them. Furthermore, another one of the main skills developed within the armed forces of this tribe is to bring those weaker opponents deep into that musky water that they have somehow grown used to, forcing them to face all of that toxicity directly; when a kin'toni is dragged down they're also subjected to a series of stabbings from extremely non-hygienic weapons.

That if they don't kill via the stabbing themselves, will leave the kin'toni to suffer through an extremely viral infection, that is not only lethal to themselves, but could also spread if they attempt to retreat back to their clan. Overall, the military of the Kimaugh allows them to display how the roughness they have come to historically develop can be mirrored through arms that show they are a capable tribe that is able to keep themselves alive for as long as they need to.

Religion

The religion of the Kimaugh tribal zu'aan leads to an extremely somber and industrial-based faith that shapes a belief system which, as is a pattern within many of the tribes within Taerel, allows for an almost exact mirror of the tribe's already previously established values while being still extremely well settled with the space and harsh conditions the same tribe goes through within their physical world, taking a metaphysical excuse to justify a theology of purification, where anything that is given a soul-like meaning within every member of the Kimaugh tribal zu'aan is given the exact same "pragmatic" treatment.

That the tribe gives to sludge and trash, justifying a sort of behavior and belief system that refines each zu'aan via labor, suffering, and filtering oneself as a means to advance spiritually. The priesthood that is responsible for the materialization and institutional representation of the tribe's religion within their day-to-day life is extremely linked to the government system of the tribe; they are often responsible for shaping the creation and interpretation of laws, mostly the latter considering that the law system of the tribe is still extremely shaped upon old religious scriptures, which these members are given legal authority to interpret.

These priests don't actually spend their days in prayer; considering that to acquire these positions, as to follow the political model of the Kimaugh tribal zu'aan, the priests have to have an extremely high level of technique within the main practices of the tribe, leading to a quite not-so-very lavish lifestyle, but still one that allows for the accumulation of political power in the hands of a select few who are obliged to follow specific doctrines. These priests are directly selected by the current Marisob that is present within the tribe.

But, at the same time, they hold a large amount of public influence upon the votings that determine who will be the next Marisob, which would lead to quite a contradictory stratification of roles if it wasn't for the fact that the Marisobs only occupy office for 2 years, and within those 2 years, things such as impeachment are fully illegalized within the tribe. Now, when speaking about the actual belief system, it follows pretty classic standards when it comes to a tribe to create religions based upon what they need to preach to people as to keep their status quo afloat.

Notioning upon a great engineer that is good and responsible for the creation of the universe and who materializes itself through the people of specifically the Kimaugh tribal zu'aan; to be more specific to the conditions of the tribe itself, they often give a lot of focus upon the condemnation of any clean practices or any behaviors which disqualify the cultural standards of the tribe, being very openly responsible for shaping the way the status quo of the Kimaugh tribal zu'aan keeps itself alive.
