Ightuit Tribal Zu'aan
History
The Ightuit people are not very well-known in Taerel, for they have never been able to establish themselves. Residing in the Enta Rolling Hills, most of the inhabitants tended to be farmers who would grow crops across the grassy expanse of the region or choose to be shepherds who would allow their sheep to graze in large fields, consuming the luscious grass of the region; cattle farming and keeping many other farm animals were also common options that the residents have. In most cases, however, crop farming was the best option as more products could be made per area of land than the equivalent of having animals.
For many centuries, the Ightuit people lived these simple lifestyles, with the population struggling to make any advancements, particularly due to the fact that they did not want to leave their old way of life and make changes, such as by working harder to gain an education or even form an institution where the population could become smarter or at least become more advanced in literacy and mathematics than they had been before.
Then there came the massive change which took place due to the Shylxa family, who were a household of merchants and businessmen that had taken an interest in the Enta Rolling Hills since they saw many opportunities for the people to grow and decided to form a company there which would go onto shift the Ightuit people in the direction of progression. First of all, the family decided to work alongside local influential figures – since the people were so backdated, they did not even have a formal ruler or government – and began to put many laws in place, such as the fact that the youth must be educated and tested before they are allowed to work.
As more of the young people began getting educated, there was soon a shift from people becoming farmers to more people investing their strengths into other subjects such as business and politics, allowing the Enta Rolling Hills to prosper as it became more connected with the outer world as well as trade with foreign nations. To commemorate the benefits the Shylxa family had made in the region, the Ightuit people made them into a royal family and said that they shall permanently be rulers. With such power, the descendants of the Shylxa family have been providers of prosperity to the Enta Rolling Hills, even expanding its territory to have lands that were overseas.
Other changes were made including spending more time in mathematics and sciences and constructing newer buildings such as research facilities and libraries, as well as more schools in comparison to what the Ightuit people would have had in mind had they not been more educated; the inhabitants would have chosen farms thinking that more crop fields and places for cattle would be more beneficial. However, the region to this day is still not one of the most dominant in Taerel but is still surviving well despite having to experience the impacts of the kin’toni outbreak which may have caused everything to collapse again, returning the population to how it had been before.
Psychology
During the early days of the Ightuit people, most of them lived very simplistic lives as farmers, for there was plenty of lands to do agriculture and it did not require a lot of skill – only a bit of hard work and dedication as well as care for the crops. Furthermore, they all found plenty of time to be able to think to themselves, but most chose to use this to seek pleasure (usually through games or socialising) or go and perform prayers to the deities that could be found, praying for blessings and successful yields and also giving offerings in hopes of pleasing these divinities.
Due to this, the Ightuit people were mostly at peace, embracing the tranquil, simple ambience of their lives in such an expansive, almost empty region, lacking the hustle and bustle of more industrial nations. This was all due to change however with the arrival of the Shylxa family, who came with innovative ideas that were supposed to benefit the Enta Rolling Hills and its inhabitants. The results of this were initially feelings of distrust and suspicion since many feared that the culture would be lost and also the Shylxa family had other nefarious intentions.
In order to combat these beliefs, the Shylxa family had to be very convincing, and hence worked alongside many of the more influential, wealthier figures within the Ightuit society in hopes of making the region progress, and indeed they were successful as they managed to cause people to lose their backdated ideas that they only needed farming to survive and make an income, and instead opened doors to them about other areas of education, such as in business, finance, mathematics and much more.
Additionally, the many incentives given such as free education, better prices for food and drink, security from threats and also reassurance about housing being protected were other factors that enabled the Shylxa family to please the people and ultimately gain control over the Ightuit people. In awe of the efforts that they had taken to improve life for the Ightuit people, the Shylxa family were made royalty, and the region continued to thrive with the inhabitants of the Enta Rolling Hills becoming increasingly happier and joyful with this new way of life, as well as becoming more innovative by trying to find ideas that could benefit the region.
This continued on for many years, until there came the time when Yaris Shylxa went a step too far by threatening to burn down the woodland that he was unable to get as a part of his collection of royal gardens. Left in a state of shock, many of the Ightuit people were infuriated by this idea and therefore opposed it, which led to the defamation of the Shylxa family and people perceiving the Shylxa family to really be malicious people. After uprisings caused the Shylxa family to be executed, the Enta Rolling Hills was returned to a state of peace and harmony, with the Ightuit people enjoying the ability to go beyond just being farmers and finding other pursuits in life.
Culture
For most of its early years, farming has been the main profession within the Enta Rolling Hills, where the Ightuit people would tend to be shepherds or crop farmers who grew crops. The result of this was the fact that they managed to gain access to many beneficial natural resources which allowed the population to remain relatively self-sufficient, since they had plenty of food sources that did not depend on wildlife and also access to other materials that were useful such as leather and wool – these would be used heavily in making garments.
In relation to food, their diets consisted heavily of meat – alongside a healthy set of vegetables that were grown: they were a great source of protein and could be used to make many dishes. As for their drinks, these tended to be water but there were also the options of many fruit juices since a few fruits could grow in the region – these beverages became more popular when the Shylxa family arrived and made the region more globalised. In relation to the Shylxa family, they made many changes to the mindset of the Ightuit people by making them realise that they had other options in life and different career paths to take instead of becoming farmers.
For example, they constructed many educational facilities and made it important that all members of society graduated from an institution with the most basic, minimal qualifications so that everybody was literate; those who desired could get further education and be able to open up their opportunities to other jobs, such as by studying mathematics and business to be able to do a profession related to finance, or studying a science to become a scientist specifically for that field – botany was a common option. As a result of this, there was also a greater interest in books and literature.
Meaning that plenty of successful and talented authors came from the region and many festivals would occur where the culture could be celebrated. Even those who had an interest in agriculture could make progress and go on to become horticulturists or botanists, which is the reason why many of the people with this profession can be found in the Enta Rolling Hills. It can also be noted how the Shylxa royal family had an influence on the culture of the Ightuit people, for many of their banners and flags bearing their insignia could be observed around the Enta Rolling Hills.
Which not just displayed a sense of jingoism and patriotism as well as admiration for them but heightened their dominance and power over the region. However, this was not everlasting for the Shylxa family were overthrown during an uprising and executed, with their influence being present but their control lost, and soon the patriotism was for the Enta Rolling Hills as a whole rather than the monarchy. All these symbols representing them were also removed.
Government
At first, the Ightuit people did not have a formal ruler or government, so would depend on mutual understandings between each of the members of society in order to survive – such as the fact that people should not be too greedy and only take their fair share or allowance of resources. For many years, this system was successful, even with an increasing population size that would likely have caused the region to suffer had the Enta Rolling Hills not had so much space for more farming to take place and housing to be constructed. Even though there was no clear leader of the Ightuit people.
It could still be argued that during this stage the wealthier members of society had more influence and power and would usually make the important decisions that impacted the status of the region within Taerel. However, this was all to change with the arrival of the Shylxa family into the region, who made many changes in the best interests of the Ightuit people, such as by making them more educated and enabling them to grow out of their backdated mentalities. Their first step in achieving this was forming a large company in the Enta Rolling Hills alongside many influential, rich figures native to the region.
Which would work together to make rules and regulations and form a sort of charter of laws that could allow the region to progress; whilst skilled mostly in finance and trading, the Shylxa family also knew a bit about law and hence were able to do this. Initially, there was some resistance that the Ightuit people displayed, but this was easily overcome when the Shylxa family managed to offer many rewards and incentives for obedience, which could even include land for the best individuals within the region. Furthermore, the Shylxa family went a step further by making it so that it was compulsory that all members of the Ightuit people were educated.
And hence the residents of the Enta Rolling Hills were able to adopt useful skills and qualifications that enabled them to take other career paths instead of agriculture; a lot of these were in business and finance, for they desired to follow in the footsteps of the Shylxa family to achieve success in life. Eventually, many of the Ightuit people had a severe admiration for the Shylxa family and hence they managed to become a royal family who would rule the Enta Rolling Hills for many years until there came the event where the monarch called Yefin Shylxa desired to claim many groves and woodland as royal gardens for the excursion of the family.
The result of this was the fact that many conflicts occurred across Taerel for many generations, and there came a point when one monarch from the Shylxa family – called Yaris Shylxa – threatened to burn down the woodland of those who had not submitted to their rule; an example of this is the case of the Certai Dying Woodland, which is still trying to recover from the damage caused to it to this day. However, many were against this – even being a part of the Ightuit people – and staged uprisings which ultimately led to the execution and end of the domination of the Shylxa family; now the government is composed of different members who are elected through voting.
Military
Originating as a group of shepherds and farmers, the Ightuit people did not see much of a need for the military but still felt that in order to protect their property from thieves they would at least need some form of force that could capture robbers and protect the people. Hence, they set up a unit of troops who acted like a police force, patrolling the region on a lookout for thieves; they were given powers to claim anyone they felt was suspicious and take them to a specified location, where they could be interrogated to see whether they had nefarious intentions or not.
This system was relatively successful, although an issue was the fact that they wore a navy-blue uniform that made them stand out in public, which would be a benefit to thieves as it enabled them to know where these troops would be and where they should avoid. As a result of this, many of the troops would take off their uniforms and instead wear more normal clothing that would enable them to blend in with the public, making them more successful in catching criminals. However, this was a cause of public concern, as many of the Ightuit people were fearful that this only gave the troops more powers that they can abuse, rather than believing that it was for their own safety.
Eventually, this became evident with more corruption taking place with these troops abusing their powers. With the arrival of the Shylxa family into the Enta Rolling Hills, they were fairly impressed by the system that had been started – due to the nature of the Ightuit people being so backdated – but still felt that there were plenty of improvements that could be made, and hence went to work establishing a better system which would be run by them centrally. Firstly, there was one unit who be like proper soldiers with their own uniform and weaponry that could only get the role if they passed the recruitment stage.
Which would consist of vigorous physical, mental, and psychological testing; the uniforms they wore would be a khaki colour and they would also have a beret-like hat that would signify that they were a part of the armed forces. As for their weaponry, they would use long swords that the Shylxa family had managed to have forged and imported into the Enta Rolling Hills. Soon, the Ightuit people were in awe of the Shylxa family and made them the monarchy, which lasted for a very long time and did not result in much change for the military. However, it can be noted that there were quite a few conflicts such as the conquest by king Yefin Shylxa to try and claim plenty of foreign woodland and groves for the sake of his own pleasure.
He could have the area all to himself for excursions. The impacts of this had a severe impact on the history of the Ightuit people, for it continued for many generations to the point where Yaris Shylxa – king at the time – made the harsh decision to burn down the woodland he was unable to claim. Due to his choice of taking such rash actions, many were against him and the Shylxa family lost their control of the Enta Rolling Hills, with many of their own troops turning against them. Even though this occurred, the military still has a khaki uniform, but no longer have the insignia of the Shylxa family on their beret but instead, a symbol that is representative of the Ightuit people as a whole.
Religion
At first, the faith followed by the Ightuit people was one that consisted of the worship of many agricultural deities that they perceived would give them fortunes and greater yields during their harvests; some of these divinities included Wodos, God of Rain, Xuna, Goddess of Agriculture, and Xena, Goddess of Animals. Wodos, God of Rain, was described as having short aqua blue hair with eyes that were like crystals or aquamarine, and His role was to bring rain to the Enta Rolling Hills so that it would forever remain prosperous in farming and be sustained.
In relation to farming, there was also Xuna, Goddess of Agriculture, who was said to be the one who would enable growth to take place within the region, allowing the crops She desired to grow. Her appearance is described as being one where She would wear clothing that was a grassy green colour, with Her hair – a shade of yellow or gold like wheat – being tied up as a bun. As for Xena, Goddess of Animals, it was believed that She cared for all living organisms within Taerel and hence loved to see the creations that inhabited the world caring for each other, which is why She loved the shepherds so much.
It was believed that when animals were slaughtered for food, they would return to Her and reside in a sort of paradise, and it was also perceived that those who were caring and benevolent would also be able to live alongside Her in the peaceful, everlasting gardens. To display their beliefs and commemorate these deities, many animal farmers and shepherds would have charms that they would put near the enclosures and farmhouses, which they believed could ward off evil and also thieves. Additionally, a similar thing would be done with scarecrows for crop fields, where sigils would be carved into them that cast away any wicked things.
Alongside these acts, many of these people would have plenty of time throughout the day, which they could dedicate to prayers where they could request blessings and hope for rewards in the afterlife. With the arrival of the Shylxa family, they did not enforce many changes to religion, but many did choose to follow a faith that they did follow, which was one that worshipped a deity named Shozohr, God of Wonders. As a result of this, the Enta Rolling Hills became more populated with temples and shrines, where idols and statues could be found that represented this deity and served as reminders of his omnipresence and omnipotence.
As well as dominance; one of the reasons for this could be because the Ightuit people had changed their ideologies and realised that following the way of life that the Shylxa family had prescribed may lead to more success and prosperity. In relation to this, it can also be noted how there started to be more idolisation of the Shylxa family, especially when they became the monarchy, for more flags and banners with insignia of the royal symbols became more prominent and commonly seen to commemorate them. Even after their execution.
Many still worshipped Shozohr, God of Wonders but removed the symbols of the Shylxa royal family, as they felt that the Shylxa family had gone astray but those who were righteous would still be rewarded and given the luxuries of life.
