Geography

The Tonetor Kin'toni Clan were able to build a town for them in the heart of the forest, with smart constructions, they built a way out of their city and the forest that would trick everyone else into believing they were not coming out of the forest, but around it. As the forest boards some cities and it's not located that far away from civilization, the clan tends to deal with other clans and even zu'aan tribes. As they avoid people coming to look out for them, they try their best to make sure they can find other people on their own terms.

As for their town, it was built using a few kinds of wood and a specific type of clay found in the forest. This type of clay, called orculum, forms most of the underground of the Zalrie Fungal Forest grounds. This curious type of clay can be mined, mixed with water to turn into a thick paste, used to build structures and left to dry under the sun for two days, becoming hard as a rock, unbreakable. Being so, most of the structures built by the Tonetor Kin'toni Clan are made with said clay. The clan can vary in colour, making so the clan's city takes a colour palette of desaturated greens, purples and reds, matching the fungi around them.

As with time the Tonetor learned the type of fungi found in the forest was edible to them, they started to build a more lively society, with jobs and functioning members. As their only activity had been drinking zu'aan blood, this new perspective in their life gave their city a change that could be noticed by its architecture. Having more communal buildings and working stations. But per the forest itself, the geography can be simply explained by the small hills located in it and the river with a deep shade of purple that runs in curves inside the forest.

The river doesn't come naturally with the purple colour, it takes this colouring in the Zalrie Fungal Forest. As many believed before, the witch was the responsible for tainting the river with the wrong shade, but in reality, the fungal algae located at the bottom of the river are responsible for the, non-toxic at all, different colour. As for the hills, the Tonetor Kin'toni Clan was able to smartly use the natural formations for their city, being so, their home is hidden half underground. To enter the city it is necessary to found a deep cave inside the forest, and by crossing this cave, there is an opening for a small valley.

It is, inside this valley, that the clan built their city. As they avoid sunlight, it was necessary for them to find some place deep to settle, inside the cave itself or, as they came to discover, this valley. The sun do reach upon their settlement, but for a few hours a day, only the necessary for the sun to feed their plantations and cattle. For their plantations, as the clan learned about the mushrooms in the area, they started to study how they could plant said mushrooms, instead of simply gathering it in nature. The clan was able to come up with the idea of a "in all places" farm.

As everyone has enough space in their housing to grown their own mushrooms, the clan was able to built their city with space around their pathways to plant said mushrooms. The river doesn't cross into their city, they actually chose this valley specifically for it, as they were afraid the river would attract too much wildlife and wandering or lost people directly into their city.

Plants

As for native plants of the Zalrie Fungal Forest, there are the ones that can be eaten by the Tonetor Kin'toni Clan, the ones they make use of and the ones they simply coexist with. As for the ones they can eat; The most common mushroom planted by the clan on their farms is the inlert fungus. This plant is very small, but it grows as a handful of mushrooms all at once, commonly growing directly from the ground, this plant is very tall and thin, with a small white cap. The clan tends to eat this mushroom raw, being so one of the most important food in their diet.

The limick is the second most common mushroom planted by them, different from the inlert, this mushroom grows bigger weighing around 50 kilos, also with a white cap, but with a large and small stalk. The stalk cannot be eaten, but, if the cap is cut correctly and the stalk left alone, the cap will grow again, fastly, making so, a great option for the clan. As this is a delicate activity, it is common for members of the clan to take the harvesting of the limick as a job, making sure they can cut it perfectly, not killing the stalk.

The last mushroom to be grown by the clan members is the tupriat, similar to the inlert, it grows in wads. But not on the ground, in trees covered in moss the clan smartly plants around their city. The tree the tupriat grows in is called emuness, this tree is short, reaching around one and a half meters. The tree is used by the clan only for the mushroom. It needs to be covered in a type of moss called pynancio. The relationship of the tree, the moss and the mushroom can be called epiphyte, meaning the moss grows with the tree, without being a parasite, the same with the mushroom, growing in the moss, without one damaging the other.

The last plant used by the clan for consumption is the alxiom, known to be a leafy plant. The clan doesn't farm the alxiom, they gather it around their city. The blue leaves are boiled with hot water, becoming a sweet and hot beverage enjoyed by many members of the clan. As for the plants used by the clan for other reasons than eating, we have the farrovi, another type of tree. Different from the emuness, this tree is cut down for its strong and malleable wood, commonly used by the clan members to give structure to their houses and buildings.

As for the ceiling of said buildings, the clan tends to use the tree and their clay mix, but, to avoid water damage, they tend to cover it with lasora leaves, a type of ground plant with huge thick leaves, that tend to be tied together with a rope made from the fluffy flower murople. This flower grows in wads of a thread, that can be turned into a thin line, later on being turned into a rope. This flower is also commonly used by the clan for their clothing. As for the other plants located in this biome, it is common to find the cicette or the hygrian, both ground-level plants, with short blades, that look like soft grass.

It is possible to differentiate one from another by taking in the shape of their blades and their colouring of them. While the hygrian has rounded dark green blades, the cicette has yellowy thin and elongated blades. There are several other types of fungi in the Zalrie Fungal Forest, given its name. Many of them are not used nor eaten by the Tonetor Kin'toni Clan, but some are like the kifitine, growing up to ten meters tall, with a curvy stalk and flat cap. Or the cotopsi, also tall as ten meters, with a stern and thick stalk, covered by a long flat cap.

Animals

While the Tonetor Kin'toni Clan studies and deals a lot with the flora of the Zalrie Fungal Forest, they tend to leave the fauna untouched. As they feed on the mushrooms, they don't have a need to drain the blood of creatures very often, only doing so if the opportunity can't be denied. The only creature the clan drinks the blood is the giatorm, a tall mammal, weighing around 400 kilos, covered in thick fur. Given the humid and hot weather of the forest, the clan doesn't make use of the fur of the creature, as their light clothes are easily made out of plant-based fabrics.

The clan only drains the blood of this animal if they end up finding an already hurt and on the verge of death. The only other creature used by the clan is the dynist, kept like cattle. The one reason as to why they keep this creature, known to be a small mammal, it's for its poop. The dynist's poop is the best fertilizer for the growth of their favourites mushrooms. As for the other creatures found in the area, the heavor is present in stories told within the clan.

Talking about the sibitol creature, the heavor is a big bird, reaching around two meters tall, with a very unique and curious crown of feathers, that sometimes, reminds people of two curved horns above its head. It is believed by the clan, the story of the sibitol, comes from children watching the heavor flying around the biome during the night, imagining it bigger than it is, with the feathers as horns. Although this creature is very peaceful, there are stories around the biome about groups of it eating entire zu'aan crops, leaving tribes on the verge of death by hunger.

Other creatures in the biome, like the carmen, are a plage for the Tornetor Kin'toni Clan, as this small lizard is very fond of the same mushrooms the clan uses on their diets. The little creature lives under warm rocks, leaving its house only to sneak into the kin'toni city and steal their food. As it is customary with the kin'toni, they tend to kill the creature and destroy any eggs they come around with.

The azarac is another animal commonly found in the biome, weighting around 100 kilos with an elongated scaly body, this creature is at the top of the food chain of the biome, being able to jump high enough to catch birds midflight, the clan also tends to eradicate any azarac they come in contact with, as the creature can be deadly even for the kin'toni if caught by surprise. Given the hot weather of the biome, a lot of birds tend to migrate to the region during the colder months of the year, such as the chopho. A beautiful type of small bird, with colourful feathers and the tendency to build houses by carving its way into the stalk of mushrooms with its strong beak.

After the creature leaves its house, it is possible to find several tupriat wads growing inside the holes created by the animal. This happens because the chopho is very found of the tupriat in the region, leaving spores of it behind in its nest.
