Geography
With a name like Xage’ves Iron Beach, a few features about the region are revealed. The most obvious is that the area is a beach. This beach is not very large, only a few miles from start to finish. It is also not a very wide area; again only a few miles in width. However, the beach has developed its own ecosystem after being untouched for so long. The beach connects the Xage’ves to the Xage’ves desert that lies just past the rocky and foresting beach. Both the neighboring desert and the beach are made up of rocks. The desert is a flat, hot rock that stretches on for hundreds of miles.
The beach is made up of rocks, both large and small. The bigger rocks are found out in the actual ocean, but not so far away that they cannot be accused from the Xage’ves Iron Beach. The second feature of Xage’ves Iron Beach that can be found right in the name is iron. For some reason, iron is more common than some plants that grow locally to Xage’ves Iron Beach. The obscene amounts of iron found in the region beg the question of why no one before the Endough clan ever bothered to stop in Xage’ves. The excessive iron in the region helps the Endough kin’toni clan build their port up.
The iron found in Xage’ves is not just laying around, however. All the iron found on the beach will be located within the rocks that litter the beachfront region. The larger rocks naturally contain more iron than anywhere else, loose rock-wise. If one does not want to dig into the beach, some fragmented pieces of iron can be found in the smaller rocks that make up the actual beach. Underground is where the majority of the iron is found. Simply digging a few feet into the ground will reveal mountains of iron, it would appear. When the Endough kin’toni clan stumbled upon that, they realized that they had been living on what is essentially great riches.
They could mine massive amounts of iron and increase their wealth by selling it in the trade ports that they built. The trade port that is Xage’ves has totally changed the look of the area. What was once an empty and rocky beach is now a bustling trading post. A dock was built out from two of the larger rocks found right off the beach of Xage’ves. This dock and the rocks now function as a port for sailors of all kinds to come and visit the Xag’ves area. The trading post is a large building made from iron. It doesn’t have every good someone could need, but it has the essentials that a sailor would need after months of sailing the rough seas.
The post gets frequent visitors. People will sail into the port, head into the trading post, and then possibly endure the brief hike into the Xage’ves desert for more trading. The Endough have industrialized the area.
Plants
Before the industrialization of Xage’ves Iron Beach, the small beach region was covered in flora and fauna. Trees were everywhere on the beach. If the Xage’ves area wasn’t right in between a beach and a desert, Xage’ves would be considered a forest at this time. A lot of the reason the area was so frequently overlooked was because of how many trees grew there. The trees could be hiding many foes and dangers. In the modern and industrialized age of Xage’ves, most of the trees have been either chopped down or rotted and died due to pollution. The area can still technically be perceived as being covered in trees.
However, it went from healthy alive trees to chopped down or rotting trees all over. The Xage’ves Iron Beach area, before the industrialization, got a lot of its greenery volume from the bushes and shrubs that grew between the trees. Had these plants not been there, the Xage’ves Iron Beach would’ve been more likely to have been inhabited sooner. This is because the shrubs and bushes vastly increase the look of density to the trees. At least, they used to. When the trees were being cut down to help with production and creating items to trade, the bushes and shrubs were gotten rid of.
They could not be profited from, and therefore served no use. Some of the bushes were ripped out, others were burned. However, almost all of the native bushes and shrubbery were eradicated to make room for the massive trading post that now occupies the Xage’ves Iron Beach region. One tree that partially survived the industrialization of the area was the native fruit tree. These trees grew all over the beach at one point. In the modern age, they only grow on farms where they can be commercialized and sold for a profit. The once free-to-eat fruit is now the shining jewel of the trading post, as it is only grown and sold in the Xage’ves Iron Beach Trading Post.
However, before it was commercialized, the fruit was everywhere. It grew on short trees that never reached more than nine feet tall, leaves and branches included. The fruit on the tree bloomed and ripened frequently, so there was never a dip in the amount of fruit growing in Xage’ves. The fruit would later be nicknamed Xage’ves End Fruit, however, for a while, it was just the fruit that grew in Xage’ves. It was a brilliant yellow color, circular in shape, and tart. To propagate the tree, all one needs is the large seed that grows inside the fruit.
Because of this, the Xage’ves End Fruit is only sold pre-cut, that way no one is able to grow the fruit tree elsewhere and make the price go down by making it once again easily accessible. The plant life in Xage’ves was once so brilliant and vibrant, but the commercialization has changed the forever. The only native plants that still grow, are the ones on Endough farms.
Animals
Before the Endough clan decided to industrialize the region, Xage’ves Iron Beach was home to many different kinds of animals. The lizard that inhabited Xage’ves Iron Beach was a common sight. They had four limbs, moveable eyelids, and long tails that could be ejected from the lizard's body in times of danger. The Xage’ves Iron Beach lizards were all some shade of grey. This was to one, blend in with the rocky environment; and two, symbolize the iron that could be found all over. Most of the Xage’ves lizards had short necks and from tip to tail, were only 6 inches long.
They were small little creatures that really didn’t do much. They hunted for insects and slept under the hot sun. Unfortunately, during industrialization, all the lizards in the area were eradicated. They are now an extinct species. Iyli were also common residents of Xage’ves Iron Beach. The crustacean creatures were found all over the beach. Unlike some other species of crab, the Xage’ves iyli hatch with their shells already attached. They will live in their same birth shell until it breaks or they die. However, like other species of iyli, they walk sideways.
These iyli have a grey color to them, just like the lizards that could also be found on the beach. When the Endough took over the region, many of the iyli were taken and sold, alive, in the Xage’ves Iron Beach Trading Post. For a while, the iyli population was okay, but this would soon change. The overhunting of the Xage’ves iyli to sell them in the trading post would eventually lead to their extinction, only a few months later. This unfortunate situation only increased the price of the living iyli. It also made parts of the dead iyli sell for an insane amount of money.
Two other popular creatures of Xage’ves Iron Beach are the ilca and the silki. Naturally, and as expected, both of these creatures are now extinct and sell for great amounts of money in the trading post. Only the most valuable of items are traded for these two creatures. The silki once dominated the skies of Xage’ves Iron Beach. When the Endough returned to the land, though, this would mark the beginning of the end for these birds. The iron that created the trading post had to be smelted. This created a ton of pollution in the air. The pollution is what ultimately killed the silki. The Endough did not care though, it just meant another rare item to put in their trading posts.
The other popular creature, the ilca, was not driven extinct by accident. They were hunted to extinction. The Xage’ves Iron Beach octopus had a rare type of ink that was heavily sough after. The only thing that made the ink rare was that it came from an octopus. Their skin was also sought after. So, as they were building their trading post, the Endough clan hunted the Xage’ves Iron Beach ilca into extinction.
