Geography

At first, to enter the Vycyc Mushroomy Swamp, it is needed to explore a deep and tall fungal forest mixed with the trees and weather of a tropical forest, going around all the biome, this forest protects the Xina'tas Kin'toni Clan better than any army ever could. With quick wet sand hidden in spots perfectly place by mother nature, the clan was able to map detailed information about their own path and homes inside the swamp. With their rogue skills, they are the only people capable of walking in and out without any damage caused by the place.

After crossing the mixed forest, following the right path created by the Xina'tas, it is possible to find a clear path covered by tall mushrooms, this path was carved by the clan to give them easy and quick access to their city. After some moments of walking, it is possible to find a wooden bridge crossing a large swamp and ending in the wooden gates of a walled-up community. This is the Xina'tas Kin'toni Clan's main city. The city was built atop one singular island in the swamp, the biggest one. In this piece of land, it is possible to find their community housing, plantations for medicinal herbs and potions, and military training facilities.

The city was built using the wood given by the forest to them, and fortified soil with sand. They use native plants to the region to cover their houses, so they don't need to worry about the sun or rain taking their ceilings away. All around their city, it is possible to find several lakes and ponds, covered in vegetation, home to various creatures that don't bother the clan. It is an odd formation, but the swamp almost forms a perfect circle with the mixed forest around it, protecting it. Everywhere you walk to, coming from their city, you will find the end of the forest.

This is one of the reasons as to why the clan doesn't believe in the zu'aan hidden facility, as technically, they do live in the heart of the swamp, where the research facility should be.

Plants

The biodiversity of the plants in the Vycyc Mushroomy Swamp is unique to the place, being possible to organise it into two sections. The mixed forest around the biome and the biome itself.

In the mixed forest, it is possible to find plants such as;

The botern, which is a tree with a large trunk, normally in brown colour and thick bark, the small leaves are in a dark shade of green and it is the most used type of wood by the Xina'tas Kin'toni Clan.

The pummid, which is another type of tree, but with a more malleable wood, a white and thin trunk. The clan not always uses this tree for wood, as they tend to harvest the sap from the tree, turning it into a glue of some sort for their constructions. Mostly for their buildings, where they mix huge amounts of sap with sand and mud, creating a paste, that dries quickly and harder than stone.

The mushrooms found in the forest and completely different from the swamp, growing as tall as the trees, they are, in fact, often confused with the trees.

The feyclo mushroom has a dark green pointy cap, with a brown stalk. The clan doesn't use this mushroom for any material purposes, but they do keep this mushroom around, since, inside the cap, the parasite plant called castod, grows, this plant tends to grow long with long leaves, falling over the ground, working as a type of drape for the biome, hidden passages and working as a cloth. This plant the clan does use, as the castod is thick and it is so easy to find, the clan tends to cover the ceiling of their buildings with this plant to avoid sunlight.

The plants located within the swamp are smaller in size, but grow far the amounts as the ones in the forest. Such as;

Aetera, is a creeping plant, growing on the ground with long blades of greenish colouring. This plant is used by the tribe members to produce fibre, as it is very easy to rip apart fin threads of the material, normally turned into a rope and used by the clan members.

Pizoid, is a mushroom that tends to attract a lot of native creatures from the Vycyc Mushroomy Swamp. This mushroom, similar to the zaferi, grows on the shores of the lake and pounds of the swamp. With a dark colouring, the zaferi glows in the dark with a blue shade, while the pizoid does not. This is the difference between the two of them.

The clan members tend to harvest the pizoid at night when they can avoid the sun and find the mushroom. It is not possible to replant it, but the light takes more than weeks to fade away, therefore it is used as a source of light in their city. While some of the pizoid do grow naturally on their island, they use the harvested ones in their homes, by tying them to their ceilings with ropes made out of aetera.

There are other mushrooms growing in the swamp, such as the round capped nibusa, the thin spest, and the colourful lasphe. These three mushrooms are used by the clan members for their drinks. For the three of them, it is common to mash them into a thick paste and combine each other with other native plants from the region. Then the mixture is left to ferment in the stomach of the creatures the clan hunts. This is the most famous way to ferment drinks and enjoy them in the clan.

Animals

The animals commonly found in the Vycyc Mushroomy Swamp are the;

Kirear, is a mammal creature, probably the only mammal in the swamp, very small, weighing around 40kg. The creature is used by the tribe members for its stomach and organs. The stomach is dried out and turned into a pot covered with clay, this pot is used to ferment their drinks. The skulls of the kirear are commonly turned into drinking mugs, it is a tradition for the tribe to hunt and kill the animal, whoever deals the final blow, gets to keep the skull, clean it, and turn it into a cup. The tribe members tend to celebrate the number of skulls they have during drinking celebrations, they share and exchange skulls, always telling stories about how they got them in the first place.

Nihian, this creature, a lizard type, is hunted by the tribe for its skin. It weighs around 500kg and it is very violent. The animal has a thick pelt used by the clan members with the plants on their ceilings to avoid the sun. But during winters, the pelt of the creature allows the inside heat to not escape their buildings.

Another creature commonly found in the region is the socomy. The creature is commonly hunted by the kin'toni tribe as a substitute for zu'aan blood when they have nothing left. The animal grows to be around 400kg, being very slow and not on the verge of extinction, the clan tends to enjoy its blood.

The last terrestrial creature in the swamp is the ilitri, which is used by the clan members for its blood when necessary. The ilitri is a four-footed mammal with thick fur, which is also harvested by the clan members for clothing and fabric.

Other creatures found in the swamp are aquatic ones, like the hitabi, a type of long fish, fished by the clan members for fun, just to be released again into the waters.

The xennes, also located within the waters, is a huge type of frog, with scales all over its body. The xennes produce a black type of secretion, used by the clan members also as a fermentation item for their drinks. This black secretion gives their drinks a sweet taste, heavily appreciated by the clan. Other creatures, like the fierma and the bazani, also aquatic beings, in the format of fish, are used by the clan members for healing purposes. The skin of the fierma can be boiled until it is soft, and then it can be cut and wrapped around wounds to accelerate the healing process of the skin. The bazani is used for its oil, which can also be consumed to avoid and cure diseases.

The ladam, another type of fish, but weighing around 150kg, is commonly caught for its oil. Different from the bazani, the oil of the ladam is not used for consumption, but for light. When the mushroom lights are not enough, the oil can be put into a clay bow and set on fire, burning slowly and lasting days with a strong light.
