Geography
The region has among the most unique weather patterns in the whole planet, the island is located in the temperate part of the world, in this region, there is plenty of sunlight but this sunlight is limited and only increases marginally during the summer months, and in general the weather is extremely cold. But the Flower island is different for although it is located in the temperate zone it isn’t temperate in the kind of weather that is prevalent in the region. The weather if it were to be categorised would be classified as distinctly tropical.
And this has been said to be due to a unique geotropic wind that passes over the island bringing with it warmer airs from the souther region. The vegetation therefore on the Island is able to grow year round, due to the plenty rainfall of the tropical weather and the temperate location of the island, it can be said that it is the perfect location for the growth of flowers, for flowers require plenty of rainfall in moderate temperatures and they cannot abide too cold temperatures.
This unique weather system is said to be the main reason that the island was chosen to display the power of the Xerea Empire, paired with its huge proportion, it made the right stage for the display that the zu'aan emperor wanted to make. Even though the weather conditions were so conducive, the island still could not support the millions of flower shrubs that the island was forced to support by the servants of the Xerea Empire. As such when the I'ishtar clan first found the island and broke through the armada that guarded it.
They were said to have been brought to tears for the plight of nature in the region was so great that each growing thing in the region seemed to positively shout at them in anguish, some of the members that shared a deeper connection with the land were turned to frothing monsters that brought destruction in its most primal form to the flower island, their ravage through the flower island is said to be a tale for the ages. They tore to body ribbons all those that stood between them and the emperor that had enslaved their god and put it through such pain as to be considered truly bestial.
When the emperor and his family were found, like the guards that had sought to protect them the members of the I'ishtar clan did not extend to them the gift of the kin'toni, even through their instructions had been to convert the royal family so that they may order their troops to stand down and the war between the zu'aan and kin'toni could be ended. The emperor’s body was flayed by the I'ishtar and his skeleton hangs till today on the tallest spire of the building that the emperor had build for his stay at the flower island.
The decision of the I'ishtar clan to kill the emperor is said to be one of the primary reasons the zu'aan and kin'toni wars continue until the present day.
Plants
There are several plants on the island that have since the reclamation of land by the kin'toni that have bee,n reintroduced from different regions of the world, since the zu'aan had burnt away the creatures that had lived in the island prior to the construction of the abomination that they referred to as a garden. As such the species of animals and plants that are grown in the region are not truly native although in the past few centuries the population of these animals and plants have begun to adapt to the unique conditions of the island.
And it is expected that in a couple of more centuries the species would become completely separate from their source populations. As stated earlier the plants of the flower island at the time of the Xerea Empire were all flower bearing plants, for which the emperor had a special liking, and in order to ensure the flowers presence on the island was perennial or all year round the zu'aan cultivators poisoned the soil of the island with so many substances that even now the effect of those chemicals is felt in the soil.
For the kin'toni that have finer sense of smell, the soil still smells of the unique corrupted smell that the most bygone communities of zu'aan were known to posess. This smell is no longer as prevalent in the city states that the zu'aan have built for themselves as they once were, but in the flower island the smells are pretty strong. In addition to the chemicals, the zu'aan had also injected the island with strange automatons that were built inside shelters that created their own weather.
After defeating and killing nearly all the zu'aan of the island, the I'ishtar clan was exiled to the island itself for their act of killing the zu'aan emperor and what was seen as a failure of the clan in following orders, however, a large number of the kin'toni leaders had also sympathised with the kin'toni and agreed that their actions were justified. And although they were exiled to the island, they still continue to occupy an important part of the international coalition of the kin'toni states.
The I'ishtar Kin'toni Clan is also known to appreciate the goal they have been handed for they feel that the restoration of the land to a natural ecological succession would be an act of healing that would be far above any act they could perform as kin'toni. This is the reason why the first few years did not involve any significant actions by the kin'toni clan but only the tearing away of shelters and the machinery that had been injected into the soil. These machines were not only altering the nature and therefore offending the existence of the I'ishtar clan but for another produced that painful sensation that the old zu'aan machines were known to cause among the kin'toni.
One by one the machines were dismantled and not only thrown away but meted down into unidentified chunks of metal and thrown into the ocean.
Animals
There were no animals on the island prior to the reclamation campaign that is being run by the I'ishtar clan, except for the Etal-lakxa bees these animals were kept by the zu'aan in massive hives in order to ensure that the flowers kept up the process of reproduction on their own, however the species had been converted to flowering plants that bore no fruit upon fertilisation but instead only formed more flowers. These Etal-lakxa bees themselves were not like those found on the mainland,
For on the main landmasses these creatures are known to produce a sweet and sticky substance that was known to be a delicacy by the zu'aan in the Xerea Empire, however, the emperor himself actually hated the smell of the substance and so although the Etal-lakxa bees were absolutely necessary for the survival of the flowers, they could not be allowed to create the substance they so fondly made, and so through an arduous and dangerous process the honey bees were forced to learn to survive without the process of making the honey.
The process must have been torturous for the little animals, and been done over several generations, the Etal-lakxa bees that now live on the island live off a sugar syrup that has to be fed to them in order to allow their survival. The I'ishtar clan seems to have made it their own private mission to heal the community of the local Etal-lakxa bees, they have been trying to reteach the animals how to make their honey, by introducing small pockets of normal Etal-lakxa bees that have the capability to live of the flowers on their own.
This has not been successful so far for the zu'aan of the Xerea Empire had put through generations of pain and killing induced in the creatures and although centuries have passed since the Etal-lakxa bees were exposed to zu'aan, their fear of the zu'aan continues to haunt them. The I'ishtar clan believes that the flower island serves as the biggest piece of evidence for those kin'toni that claim the zu'aan are unfit to live on Taerel, indeed it is the case that is most often cited when discussions are held about the problem of the zu'aan cities.
There have been some kin'toni nations that have advocated the ceasing of hostilities with the zu'aan for all the kin'toni that die in the war outnumber those that can be created when a zu'aan city is captured. The I'ishtar clan leads the opposition to this line of reasoning claiming that zu'aan are unfit for life in harmony with any other life form, and that the only solution to the zu'aan cities that continue to resist is a joint assault using the might of all the different kin'toni nations,
This has not been yet materialised as such an assault would mean the kin'toni nations would have to share the spoils of war such as the kin'toni that would be created from the resulting victory.
