Geography

The geography of the Xaleeld Snow Dune is, of course, known for its beautiful snowy hills. But mostly, the place is known for the kin'toni small city of the Radh Kin'toni Clan. The city was built for the need of a community, even now, in the darker ages of the clan, it still represents this sense of union and aid for the desperate. The city can be understood as a stronghold in the snow. The first layer of the city is the outer gates, used solely in their defence, with a water system running under it to the heart of the city. While the second layer is more complex, way smaller than the first layer, the second layer is separated into housing and zu'aan prisons.

The Radh Kin'toni Clan tends to keep zu'aan as prisoners for as long as they can, draining enough of their blood to feed the families but also not too much that would kill the zu'aan. The difference between the zu'aan prisons and the Radh Kin'toni Clan housing is that the zu'aan prisons are underground, having access only through the outer gates while the Radh Kin'toni Housing is beautifully made with a lot of covered plazas around the houses for the clan to get together. The main centre of the city is used as a community space, where the clan members can share and drink blood together while telling stories.

An important part of this clan is their main family, during a war with a zu'aan tribe, the clan lost their mother and sister, which brought a great depression to the clan. Therefore, these places of happiness and community, that used to be flowing with life during the night, are now slumbers of sadness and forgotten nightmares.

This part of the city used to be stunning, with gardens working as protectors against the daylight, but most of it is now abandoned and left to rot.

Plants

Nowadays commonly found in the Xaleeld Snow Dune are plants used by the Radh Kin'toni Clan, such as;

The Isarec, which is a type of climbing plant, is the one used by the clan members to build the ceilings over their heads in their gardens. It is common to assume the plant left holes for the sun to come out, but this was cleverly resolved by the clan members, creating three layers of plants to deflect the sun. The first layer, from the inside out, it's the nautio, another climbing plant, with long thick rounded leaves. The clan members braided threads of fibre in a way the nautio can cling onto it. The second layer is what could be called a parasite plant, the unbulu.

The unbulu is another type of plant with hard and strong leaves that grows in the stalks of the nautio, this leaves work to hold the isarec in place, forming the last layer. This is also covered with a thin fabric, in the end, the sun gets to the plants, but doesn't cross through them. These three plants are not native to the region, they were actually brought by the Radh Kin'toni Clan, while there are some natural plants to the region, they are a few and rare, given the weather of the biome. One of these plants it's the ondrot and the laddla.

These two plants are actually berry bushes, the berries are used by the clan members for medicinal purposes and dye. The ondrot is known to be mashed into a paste and mixed with snow to become a liquid. This liquid can be consumed for the purpose of heating up the body, to avoid hypothermia. The plant is planted by the clan members all over their city, but in the heart of the city there is a farm-like situation, every day when they wake up, the clan members will reunite around this farm to harvest the berries and make the liquid. They will then share this liquid amongst themselves. This is the last group activity they still do every day, even in the depressing days of the clan.

The second berry, the laddla, can also be crushed, but instead of being mixed with snow, the clan members keep it in a paste, spreading it over wounds, including hypothermia blue wounds. The laddla has a blue colouring that becomes purple when applied to fabric, and the ondrot has an orange colouring that takes a soft shade of reddish when applied to a fabric. The last plant commonly found in the region is the demisb, which is heavily found in the Xaleeld Snow Dune, this plant is used by the clan members to create a very heavy fabric, that is commonly placed atop houses and on the ground to avoid the freezing weather.

Animals

The animals native to the Xaleeld Snow Dune are very few and mostly used by the clan for their fur or for feeding the zu'aan they keep in the city. Of these creatures, three are the most known for their usage, two of them are kept within the city as cattle. The first one is the koisti, this animal tends to weigh around 400kg, covered from head to toes with thick grey and white fur, the animal is used by the Radh Kin'toni Clan for its pelt. The creature is wild and the clan was not able to tame it, so having the pelt of a koisti is a very rare occurrence, and it tends to be seen as a sign of wealth.

The animal is commonly hidden under the snow and sleeps during the day, making so for the kin'toni to hunt it, they have to trap the creature at night when the animal is active. The other two creatures known to be used by the kin'toni clan are the optu and the yaweru. The optu was the first animal to be tamed by the clan, many years ago. This creature is smaller in comparison with the other ones located in this biome, but they procreate fastly and tend to grow fur even faster. The clan usually shaves the fur of the animal, turning it into threads and then into fabrics, keeping it alive.

This fabric is commonly used everywhere and by everyone, from clothing to buildings insulations. They avoid killing the optus, as their fur is way more worth than its meat or blood, but the clan understand they can't keep too many optus in their city, as they would not have food for them all, so, it is common to sometimes kill some optus once they are too old to reproduce or simply to decrease numbers. The blood is drained and shared within the clan and the meat is served to the zu'aan they keep in the city. The last creature, called yaweru, is also kept by the clan.

This animal tends to weigh around 100kg, and it is the most used for feeding zu'aan, as they also procreate fastly. Once the clan kills the creature, they also use its pelt and fur, as they use the optus' fur fabric for insulation, the yaweru fur and leather tend to be used only for clothing.
