Geography

The geography of the Usti Tropical Desert can be curious, as a huge part of it is simply covered in sand, it is still possible to find several oases and exfoliations of weathering. For the Muelm Kin'toni Clan, their settlement is located very close to an oasis and far away from the heart of the desert. This is also the location where it is possible to find the rib cage of a huge creature that once lived there, no one can be sure which one of the four creatures this one could be. But it is for sure a creature that was dead long ago, as the bones are old and broken by the sand storms.

Given the amazingly giant rib cage, the clan members decided to build their settlement following the natural structure of the rib cage, forming some sort of a plaza following the spine of the creature, using the rib bones as the foundation of their walls and their ceilings. This plaza is covered against the sun, and in the middle of each rib bone, they built their own houses. Following this pattern, it may sound they live in a hallway with several doors, but in reality, the size of the rib cage turns their settlement into a long village, with one main road and several others crossing it.

The oasis, called by the clan "Terak's Oasis", a homage to their late leader, is composed of a very interesting wildlife. But most important, located under the level of the desert, it is possible to find a very complex body of water. Deep inside that body of water is located an opening to a cave. It is believed inside that cave it is possible to find a complex cave system, located right underneath the desert, with one only impossible enter. But in reality, during many years of research happening in the desert, some people were able to enter the cave.

At first, it looks like a suffocating downwards tunnel of water, but after some meters, there's a second cave, with a bubble of air. This underwater cavern opens itself for several other enterings, creating a huge and complex cave system. Unfortunately, just like the past research about the desert, the information about this cave system was also lost in time.

Plants

It is possible to notice the past of the desert as a tropical jungle by its flora. Several plants are known to be evolutions and/or similar to tropical plants, such as;

Commonly located all over the Usti Tropical Desert is the reconi, an underbrush type of plant, with a pale green colouration. Also located almost everywhere in the desert is the deashr, a palm tree type of plant, commonly used by the Muelm Kin'toni Clan for its wood, strong and stern, perfect for construction.

Both these plants are known for being the symbol of the desert, but there are other several plants, which used to be studied by the clan a long time ago, as they used to prioritize the knowledge about medicinal plants and healing. This part of their culture died, nowadays wanting to be healthy and have a prolongate life is almost a crime for the clan. Still, it is possible to find most of these plants in the desert.

The hugamp is a green plant with thick leaves and deep roots, deep enough to reach the underwater of the desert. This plant was used by the clan as a medicine to prevent cough from the dry air of the desert. The leaves were boiled until the water turned green, and then the tea was left to cool down completely. The hugamp tea was only made during the night. This way, after a whole night of social life in the clan, they would drink this tea before going to sleep.

Another plant used for medicinal purposes in the clan is the vesita, an underbrush type of plant that produces a thin and elongated berry known as the vestberry. The vestberry was used by the clan for its energetic value. It was possible to turn the berry into a thick paste, by mashing it in clay pots. This paste was then added to hot boiling water and drank still hot during their mornings, as soon as they woke up, the paste would be ready for the clan, they only needed to boil the water and drink it up.

The dakell plant, known to produce long thick blades with a blue colouring was used as a bandage around places in the body that were hurting. The blades would be soaked underwater, making them very soft. While short, they would be wrapped around the hurting area and left to dry. If necessary the person could change the blades, but normally the clan members would not use more than one blade, as its action on the pain was very quick.

Also easily found all over the desert is the hakern, known to be a very versatile plant for wandering zu'aan tribes. This plant has deep roots, that can be boiled, mashed and eaten, with a tangy soft taste. While the stalk can be eaten raw, filled with hakern water, similar to coconut water, it is also filled with what is called hakern meat, but it is basically the fruit of this plant. The leaves of the harken plant can also be eaten, they are mostly boiled with water, creating a sweet tea that is normally drunk to fight off illness.

Animals

The wildlife in the Usti Tropical Desert is extensive, the most important creatures in the history of the desert are the eoluna, ortholo, jangia and lovisp, who are believed to be the evolutions of past giant creatures with the same names. The eoluna is a four-footed mammal, known for its long claws and tongue. The creature, with black and white fur, uses its claws and tongue to eat smaller insects that tend to hide in the sand. Nowadays the creature weighs around 10kg, while it is believed its ancestor used to weigh around 400kg.

The second creature with a giant ancestor is the jangia, another four-footed mammal covered in fur, with elongated fangs, this creature is normally at the top of the food chain of the Usti Tropical Desert. The ortholo is a type of bird that tends to nest in the desert, not living there during the colder seasons, this bird tends to live only in boiling hot areas of the world. Used by the clan members for its blood, as the clan members tend to extract a substance from the blood, by boiling it and letting it dry under the sun. This blood becomes thin as a powder, and it is then consumed by the clan members with water, becoming a medicinal drink with a red shade.

The point of the drink is to help their body to heal in case they are wounded, this includes cuts, broken bones and other injuries. The last creature, called lovisp, is also a four-footed mammal, with heavy fur, commonly hunted by the clan members for it. Using its pelt as cover for their homes to hide from the sun. The creature nowadays weighs around 100kg, making scientists believe its ancestor used to weigh almost 1000kg. Other creatures located in the desert are insects, lizards, birds and smaller mammals. Like the abiven, a two-footed mammal with hoofs, this creature is known to move by jumping and hopping, and having a poach where the babies are kept until they are old enough to eat by themselves.

The jilici is a lizard type creature, weighing around 50kg, with scales all over its body. The creature's skin is used by the clan members to patch up wounds, by removing the skin after the animal has been killed. The skins are cut in specific shapes, boiled for safety and then wrapped around the wounds, tied up with threads made by the clan members. The guranc is a flying insect type of creature, very small that tends to fly in large groups. It is easy to spot them like a dark cloud in the sky approaching very fast. This creature only eats plants, although it is native to the Usti Tropical Desert, it is common to see the creatures attacking farms around the desert and destroying both zu'aan and kin'toni crops.
