Geography
The geography of Unt’mora Flower Field is rather simple: it is a flower field. A manmade one at that. Lying in the center of a forest in a long-forgotten part of the world, the field is not the largest of locations. There are a few hills in the area, and on the taller ones, the whole flower field can be seen. It is said to be one of the prettiest views in the whole field. These hills are not large; they can be walked up easily and are only a couple of feet taller than the flat ground of the flower field. The only other tall structure in the field are the homes and buildings built by the zu’aan tribe that founded the flower field.
In the field are also some small ponds and streams. The streams come from the forest, flow through the field, and then back into the forest. These streams are not very large, nor deep. They are maybe a foot deep in the deepest part of them. In the middle of the field, they all connect forming a small little pond that is full of a few water-dwelling creatures. Some plant life exists in the stream and is rather pretty. The sunlight glinting off the water is also a tranquil sight to see to the weary traveler. The true beauty is in the flowers of the field, but the streams are a must-see when passing through the area.
Mostly because that one has to cross over at least one if crossing the Unt’mora flower field. Even though Unt’mora is a flower field, it was a forest for a long time. Some saplings remember this and sprout up in the middle of the field. Unt’mora is mostly a flower field, when the saplings grow, all those can see that it was once a forest. When these trees mature and are fully grown, they offer shade and a nice green break amidst the flowers. Only a few trees grow, as the flowers really do rule over the field, but when they do, the whole field benefits. Some of the trees are used as directional markers to really help those travelers get through the area easily.
The forest can be confusing, but it helps out those that respect it. Finally, and most obviously, the floral geography of Unt’mora Flower Field. Many different flowers grow, and almost all of them are nonnative to the area. Regardless, they contribute to the beauty of the flower field. A lot of the flowers that come from different climates tend to grow in the direction that would be closest to home. Northern flowers can be found surrounding the northern tree, growing beautifully in the shade, for example. The flowers grow everywhere in the field. They have replaced grass.
Some kind strangers have placed rock pathways to avoid walking on the flowers; these paths tend to follow the streams.
Plants
Naturally, as it is a flower field visited by those from all around the world, the flowers that grow are rarely local and come from all over. A few of the most notable ones are the asrcae, ochniae, and lilcaen. The suffix -ae comes from being flowers that now grow in the Unt’mora area, and have become a subspecies of the original flower. The first flower mentioned, asrcae is one of the northern flowers that spends a lot of its time in the shade beneath the north tree. These flowers have white petals and a blue pistil in the center of them. They are flowers that can live through all seasons of the year but thrive in the cold winter months.
The ochniae is a long-stemmed flower that buds and flowers at the end of the stem. A lot of the “grass” that is in the flower field is ochniae. Unlike a lot of flowers with petals and pistils, the ochniae has an irregular form: it only has three petals, and each petal is modified into lips. Ochniae come in a variety of colors, and grow the best in the hotter, summer months. Finally, but certainly not last in the vast amount of flower types in the field, is the lilcaen. Similar to the ochniae, lilcaen have long stems where the flower sits on top. The petals form a cup shape and come in various different colors.
Lilcaen prefer to grow in colder climates but can still grow just fine the warmer months. They grow faster in the morning when it is still a little chilly. Those were just a few of the most common flowers that grow; and a tiny percentage of the floral population in Unt’mora Flower Field. The trees in the Unt’mora Flower Field are certainly the minority. Also, they’re not quite the same as their forest relatives. It appears that with the trees that grow in the flower field, the flowers invade the trees, and essentially create a whole new kind of tree. The mah’noga tree is the given name to the tree that grows only in the flower field.
They can grow quite tall, the largest growing to be around 30 Fett tall, however, most of the trees only grow to an average height of 15 feet. Fruit that grows on the tree is tart; when eaten in large quantities, however, it can poisonous. A weaker kin’toni would survive, but a zu’aan would certainly die. Animals that eat the fallen berries act incapacitated, but they seem to have an instinct to not eat the berries in large quantities. Quite a few crops grow in the Unt’mora Flower Field on their own. After being left by the zu’aan tribe, the vegetables just began to grow on their own.
They only grow near the houses and buildings that were also left by the zu’aan. Some of these different vegetables grow on the buildings, as the wood that comprises the structures offer some nutrients to the rogue crops.
Animals
While there are many animals in the whole Unt’mora area, so the flower field and unnamed forest, only a few creatures actually live within the flower field. The first of the short list of creatures is a small, cute, and cuddly creature called an iesien. Iesien have compact bodies, large heads, and short faces and features. Their ears stand upright on their little heads. These iesien come in a few different colors. The varying fur shades are: black, blue, tan, purple, white, and yellow. The brighter colored iesien more than likely get their shades from consuming a specific shade of flower.
Iesien can are almost always gentle and loving creatures. Being around so many different people; zu’aan and kin’toni, has desensitized the iesien to their presence. There is an unspoken agreement among all the visitors to the flower field that the animals residing in the Unt’mora Flower Field are not to be harmed. So, iesien have no unnatural predators. They really only have one predator, which contributes to the sweet and loving personality that is frequently exhibited by the small creatures.
The only predator to both the flower field and the iesien animal is the xo’tf. Xo’tf have long fur, pointed ears, short legs, a narrow snout, and are small to medium-sized creatures with bushy tails. The fur on a xo’tf is red. This is due to a typical xo’tf eating the mah’noga berries in addition to their iesien diet. The tails of the xo’tf are traditionally white but have been seen to be tan on occasion. Like the iesien, the xo’tf is rather accustomed to the presence of people in the field. They are not afraid of them, nor do they try and attack the travelers.
This is due to the difference in size. Iesien are small and easy to eat and hunt, people are bigger and require more effort to take down. Most, if not all, xo’tf are rather lazy creatures and prefer a small and easy meal. Xo’tf live in burrows built into the sides of the few hills in the flower field and are frequently seen running around the field and into the forest, enjoying their day. Finally, the most populated of the animals isn’t even an animal. It is actually an instinct and is referred to as bombiae. These insects are huge and a lot larger than the average airborne insect in Taerel.
Their wings are the size of an average iesien, and their bodies are about as large as a zu’aan head. They are covered in horizontal red and yellow stripes with fur on top. They live in nests that are on the taller buildings in the flower field. Bombiae have been observed to have a bit of a hierarchy in their small nests. They are rather intelligent creatures and make friends with the people passing through the flower field. They eat the tart berries at the top of the mah’noga trees. They are the flower fields most local and populating residents.
