Geography
The geography of the Tor'nila Red Sand Dune can be confusing at first since the winds in the desert keep changing all the time. For the Ryndban Kin'toni Clan, this can be a problem, they can go to sleep between two dunes, in a slack, believing this is the best strategy to pray on zu'aan and wild creatures, just to wake up covered by a dune as tall as 10 meters. But it is possible to recognize the pieces of the Tor'nila Red Sand Dune deserts by the parts that were taken by the desert later on. First, we can talk about forgotten grasslands, the first target of dryness and the desert.
It is very hard to discern the difference between the real desert and the grasslands, as it was taken even before the zu'aan thought about creating the kin'toni. This is also where the lost zu'aan city should be located. The second part, more dreadful than the rest, used to be some sort of a marsh with deep lagoons. These lagoons, long taken by the desert, nowadays have become pits of quicksand. If a zu'aan is able to survive the desert by not being attacked by wildlife, the Ryndban Kin'toni Clan, it is still possible to be trapped in these unstable pools of pure suffocating sand.
The last part known to society about the geography of the Tor'rila Red Sand Dune is located right in the heart of it. It is believed this bit used to be, in fact, a huge oasis. Different from the legends and lores, this place actually existed, but it was taken away by the red sands. Nowadays, it is almost impossible to find the Heart of the Tor'rila, but as historians would say, it is possible to have some giveaways about the location, since the mizari lives solely in this region. Unfortunately, once someone finds themselves in front of said creature, the survival rates are low as zero.
Normally, the Ryndban Kin'toni Clan is located in the original bit of the desert, away from the dangers of the heart and the quicksand, which is also the place where more zu'aan travellers tend to choose to cross the desert.
Plants
The plants native to the Tor'rila Red Sand Dune can be divided into the same three categories as the place can be separated geographically. Although being a desert, the biodiversity found in the place is quite unique to its own biome. At first, in the forgotten grasslands it's possible to find; Emisti, a type of desert rose, with dark red colouring, is normally used by the zu'aan who lived once in the grassland as a medicine since it is possible to rub the petals of the flower in any type of wound to accelerate regeneration. This flower is one of the reasons some zu'aan clans still try to explore the desert.
The henteca is another type of flower, but this one tends to grow in thick dry bushes only during winter and it blooms only at night. While the two flowers are capable of growing that are capable to grow atop the ground, the lufatani is a type of root growing deep in the sands of the desert, as it is still possible to find some remnants of the grasslands buried deeply under the red sands. Sabilim, similar to the lufanati, this plant is rooted deep within the sands, almost touching the forgotten layer of dirt, but it blooms outside the surface of the ground, making it easier to spot.
It is believed this plant was used by the older zu'aan tribes as a source of incredible nutrition. And lastly, the rakarier cacti. Known in the legends to be used with a mixture of sand to produce a material strong enough to build houses that would resist the harsh environment and weather found in the desert. Located within the treacherous quicksands of the Tor'rila Red Sand Dune, are cacti plants, like the cobact. A cactus that is known for its blue colouring and to attract several wild creatures working on the food chain of the desert.
Mafecede, this cacti, different from the others found in the Tor'rila Red Sand Dune deserts, tends to reach over twenty meters in height, towering over every other plant or wildlife located in the desert, besides the mizari. There are some folklore legends about said cacti, talking about sentient creatures using the cacti as homes, creating some sort of society and life inside the plant. Ses'zzent, a smaller type of plant, this cacti tend to grow in the shape of a sphere, adorned by yellowy petals atop the sharp thorns.
While there are not many certainties about these last plants, they could be a sign for the Heart of Tor'rila, or they could simply be plants who are native to the whole desert, mostly to the original part of the sands. Evofer, is a type of desertic tree. For many zu'aan tribes the vision of this tree could be a sign of an oasis, as it's the common idea that trees grow near bodies of water, unfortunately, the evofer is not a sign of water or rest, as the plant can be found everywhere in the desert. Lowber, this curious vegetation appears at first to be a patch of grass, also giving hope to several zu'aan travellers.
But the lowber is simply another plant that mysteriously thrives in the Tor'rila Red Sand Dunes without being near a body of water. while outside the sand, the lowber can be mistaken for several strands of grass together, the plant is one singular life system, with deep, long, entangled roots. Vandolar, also commonly found all over the desert, this flower, which only blooms directly under the midday sun, has a strong green colouring.
Animals
As the plants in the Tor'rila Red Sand Dune can be separated into categories by location, the creatures found in the desert can be separated into species. As it is believed several of these creatures are mutations from some common ancestral.
The four mammals found in the dunes are the;
Gusser, known to be the smaller type of mammal, is four-footed, with an elongated furry tail. The nocturnal creature takes a red colouring on its fur, believed to be adapted to survive the freezing temperatures of the desert at night. Common to be prey for the Ryndban Kin'toni Clan.
Carica, a bigger two-footed flying mammal, this creature can be spotted sleeping during the days in the evofer trees.
Djecti, another bigger creature, the djecti is also nocturnal. While the kin'toni clan try to prey on this animal, the creature is way faster and better at fighting than the Ryndban Kin'toni Clan. The four-footed creature is covered in thick black leather.
The last mammal known to be native to the Tor'rila Red Sand Dune deserts is the most important source of food for the kin'toni clan, this being the kaetion. The kaetion is a four-footed creature known to hunt alone during the night, weighing around 30kg, it's an easy prey for the kin'toni.
While the insects and arachnids dwell in the desert, it is common to find the hidden-cinatona. This type of spider tends to weigh around 20kg, similar to the Ryndban Kin'toni Clan, this creature hides within the red sands of the desert and wait for its prey. It's common to see the creature around evofer trees, waiting to prey on the carica.
Maxiol, another type of spider, although more rare than the hidden-cinatona, this creature tends to live under rock formations in the desert, hibernating for more than 20 years.
The ommedl is known to be a scorpion type of creature, also being an important creature in the diet of the kin'toni clan, this scorpion weighs around 10 kg and tends to be very slow, being more active during the night and a plague in the desert.
It is not rare to see birds around the desert, although it is very rare for the kin'toni to be able to prey on said animals. They normally feed on smaller mammals, insects and lizards.
The fagetu is a flying creature commonly found in the desert during the warmer months of the year. This beast tends to weigh around 50kg, preying even in the kin'toni and zu'aan around the desert sometimes.
Oboc, is a smaller bird known to visit the desert during the colder months. This creature flies in packs. Normally one single oboc is not harmful, but a big pack of obocs can be the destruction of a forest or a whole species, as they tend to destroy and eat anything in their way. They are rare, and packs are commonly very small, becoming not as big of a threat.
Lydresson, another type of bird, can be found all year round, but in winter, in the Tor'rila Red Sand Dune deserts.
While talking about other land creatures, there are two types of lizards living in the desert, feeding on spiders and scorpions, and being the food for birds and even for the Ryndban Kin'toni Clan.
The opericat is a big type of lizard, known to sleep during the day directly under the sun, commonly atop rock formations, but it is possible to find it simply atop the sand, barely covered.
And the vigami, a smaller type of lizard, is commonly found near the emisti.
The last creatures native to the desert are the mizari, commonly called the sand dragon, this creature is believed to live solely underground in the sand, coming out only for eating once a month. As the folklore tells, these creatures live only in the Heart of Tor'rila, but this doesn't mean the Ryndban Kin'toni Clan gambles with death by looking for it.
