==Geography==

The geography of the Zinewigar region consisted of long flat plains, occasional rocky outcrops and many plateaus and cliffs. Most of the locations in the region were easily accessible by foot and there existed many dirt tracks that had been built by many previous zu'aan groups that came into the land searching for more resources and food. These were evidences of the Zinewigar region's past glory when it was covered in thick layers of green vegetation. The once abundant vegetation of the region slowly declined and eventually disappeared.

This was due to its over exploitation at the hands of the surrounding zu'aan clans who flocked into the region, hoping to get a bite of the region's massive reserves. The degradation of the environment saw the region slowly transform from a green paradise to barren terrain that was only covered by scrubs and other short leaved plants that barely grew over two feet. The area had very little evidences of any past habitation as they had mostly been eroded by progressive layers of sediments carried in by the strong winds that had a free rein of the region, in the absence of any large trees to block their flow.

The wildlife of the region had also changed throughout the course of the region's history. Initially, the region had been home to many fearsome predators and animals which were slowly pushed out of their habitat and grew extinct as their environment changed around them. The second evolution of wildlife in the region consisted of hardier survivalist that had to be able to survive the conditions of the dry scrubland that lacked both water and readily available food.

The climate of the Zinewigar region oscillated between two extremes at different types of the year. The two main seasons were extreme summers and winters. In summer, the temperatures would cross into the height thirties with low humidity and very strong winds that would blow across the entire region bringing in sediments and rocky deposits from many surrounding regions. These winds would bring in some rain clouds towards the end of the summer, causing light rains and revitalizing the scrubs in the region.

In the winters the temperatures would drop to near freezing levels. The region would receive precipitation during this season in the form of light snowfall. This would escalate by the end of the Shattering when the region was experiencing consistent snowfall and regular blizzards, with most fearing the onset of a new ice age. The winds would turn cold during this season and continue to pulverize the region with their stinging bite. These extremes in climates were a far cry from what was regularly the norm in the region before the degradation of the environment.

In its heyday, the region experienced very moderate climates that were ideal for a wide range of vegetation and crops. The region received abundant rainfall during this era and had many seasonal streams and rivers that would flow across the region, under the shade provided by the abundant tree cover.

==Plants==

The plants of the Zinewigar scrubland have to be able to settle into the extreme conditions of their habitat. Some of these conditions included the temperature discrepancies that could see the region suddenly turn cold after days of extreme heat, along with the lack of precipitation and water sources in the summer months. The winters could also be brutal especially during the periods after the Shattering when the region came under the influence of a new Ice age.

The region hadn't always been this way and was once famous for its variety of trees and plants that provided an abundance of both food and wood. The continuous exploitation of these abundant resources at the hands of the zu'aan would eventually lead to its degradation and transformation into a barren scrubland. The most famous plants associated with the region were the torustmor and angaw trees that were popularly used all along the surrounding regions due to the reliability and availability of the wood.

The onl scrub that covered almost eighty per cent of the Zinewigar's floor after it turned into a scrubland and the shoulder heigh shy-ir plant that was capable of storing large amounts of water in its bulbous roots. The torustmor and angaw were both legendary trees that were famous for their utility. They both had large trunks and could grow up to ten and fifteen meters respectively. Their colors were also similar with very bright and dark green leaves that were regularly eaten by the many birds and herbivores that lived in the region.

They had very different appearances with the shape of the torustmor's branches appearing more rounded while the angaw had a more spindly and gaunt appearance. Both the trees produced edible fruit that was used to replenish the stocks of many of the zu'aan populations that would constantly wander into their lands. The wood of both these trees were very crucial to the zu'aan construction efforts back in their own homes, leading to their mast deforestation and their eventual extinction from the Zinewigar region.

The onl was a hardy variety of scrub with dry thorn covered stems that protected them from plant-eating animal varieties. The onl required very little water to survive and could grow in almost all surfaces. They were an invasive species that could take over and spread around existing plants and structures, hanging down these structures like vines. The onl bloomed once a year during the short gap between summer and winter when they would produce a white and light pink flower.

The shy-ir was a rare plant that survived the degradation of its surroundings. It could reach a maximum height of three feet and had a distinctive bushy appearance that was easily recognizable among the dry and withered looking plants of the Zinewigar scrubland. It was most popular for its strange bulbous roots that could store a large amount of water reserves that it would store up from the precipitation received during the winter months. They were regularly hunted by both the wildlife, zu'aan and kin'toni as the only consistent water source available on the surface of the Zinewigar scrubland.

==Animals==

The Zinewigar Scrubland was home to hardy and very adaptable animals who could survive both the harsh summers and the winters of the region. The situation was in stark contrast to the situation many centuries ago when the pleasant climate and environment supported a more varied wildlife. The region had always had its own independent ecosystem and food-chain, free from the influence of the zu'aan which gradually began to change with the increase in zu'aan activities.

There were fables of many fearsome predators that once roamed the region and were untouchable for primitive of the still primitive zu'aan of the time, before they were driven into extinction. Some of the most famous animals from the region include the ancient predator onashine, the giant lizard called the issamrayen, the echyer flightless-bird and the eston snake. The onahine was the most famous predator from the Zinewigar region. It lived during the more fertile days in the region and was immortalized in many historical accounts and writings of the time.

They only exist as fossils now, but were once fearsome predators that could feed on all wildlife in the region. They stood at a tall twenty feet off the ground and were bipedal, walking on their stronger and larger back legs. Their front legs were shorter but not by much, and were a lot thinner than their hind legs. These front limbs were equipped with sharp, long claws that could tear apart their prey into smaller pieces that were easily digestible by their smaller mouths and narrow digestive tract.

Their skin was covered in a layer of dead skin that collected in layers until they formed a hard armor like protective coating. The onahine had good predatory instincts and could make use of camouflage and stalking methods to catch their prey. The ancient zu'aan of the neighboring regions would occasionally come down to the Zinewigar to participate in large group hunting expeditions for the onahine. These acts were immortalized in many cave paintings and stone art works from the era.

The issamrayen was a giant lizard like creature that lived among the scrublands of the Zinewigar. The animal could grow to a size of over eight feet in length and stood over three feet off the ground. They could mask into the environment with their mix of sandy and brownish scales, especially when lying stationary on the scrubland floor. They used sudden bursts of speeds to catch their prey unaware and would quickly clamp down with their sharp claws. The animal was known to feed on its prey's blood and left most of the carcass untouched.

The animal was very proficient at tunneling and would create long and elaborate tunnels beneath the ground where whole groups of their kind would live in close proximity. The echyer was a flightless predatory bird that fed on both insects, smaller mammals and snakes that lived in burrows dug into the Zinewigar landscape. The sharp beaked echyer could cause fatal injuries with the force of its pecking and was feared for its territorial and very aggressive nature.

The echyer was quite a large bird and stood at over six feet with its long legs fully extended. These legs could propel the bird to very exceptional speeds at full sprint.
