==Geography==

Near the southwestern edge of the frozen arctic zone lies the snowy forest of Yeceblho. Further north lies vast stretches of nothing but ice and snow. To the west lies the northwestern sea. To the east and south is the last remnants of the sparse tundra. Within the evergreen forest, there are hidden small hills and outcroppings and caves. Initially the native people lived in small villages designed to prevent the slight cold of the winter. This region however has been slowly becoming colder and colder as the freeze has grown closer. To combat this the locals built larger villages with better insulation.

This worked for a while but due to the growth of their families they had to build towns to house everyone. The cold continued to affect the area and after a while the towns proved likely to be ineffective. Before that could occur the locals held a contest of sorts to have a city designed that would be able to combat the increasing cold. Camps of architects and engineers and their crews dotted the snow and tree covered land. While the majority of the people designed their ideal cities without caring for the landscape, one group explored the region to see what might be used.

The lead architect, a woman by the name of Wulfricva Ssannso, had an idea to use the terrain to help keep the cold winds at bay. But to do that she needed to know the area. So her team explored and discovered warm air floating up from a small fissure. Upon further inspection, she located the entrance to a cavern full of vents and heat sinks that indicated a dormant volcano deep underneath the frozen soil. This caused her to have so many wonderful ideas and she began designing a vast beautiful city that used the heat from the vents to keep the entire city warm from the inside.

She won the contest and they constructed the city to her specifications. They closed up the cave entrance and built the city and everything within in such a way to allow the hot air to flow through the very walls and keep the entire city warm without using any other resources. Special greenhouses were built to make it possible to grow crops and other vegetation that made the city self sufficient. The walled city was perfect for the native people and became their only settlement. The city is located near the centre of the forest and over the years modifications were made in case of attacks.

This was because of stories of the mighty Xerea Empire laying siege to cities and regions that proved resourceful. However the Empire was more interested in learning about the construction of the city than trying to take control of the frozen land. The defences ended up proving useful for the actual threat, as the Empire fell and refugees began pouring in out of fear for what was coming after them. Just before the kin'toni reached the city, the gates closed and the horde was forced to lay siege to the untouchable city.

==Plants==

The snowy forest of Yecelbho is full of evergreen trees and shrubs that can withstand the freezing temperatures that have been getting worse over time. The building of the towns moderately affected the size of the forest but overtime it regrew and thrived while the people struggled to survive. The construction of the city left the forest diminished and it took the help of the people to repair and grow the lost trees. The most vegetation actually thrives within the city itself. Large greenhouses allow them to grow crops of grain, vegetables, fruits, nuts, and starchy plants.

It is due to these greenhouses the city was completely self sufficient and drew many who were interested in seeing how such things could be done in order to use similar situations for their own cities. For the tourists and just for the enjoyment of their own citizens, the city had one greenhouse designated to house the most beautiful of flowering plants in their own separated environments. Much of the greenhouses are able to be adjusted to fit different environments to allow for different plants to thrive and different crops to be harvested.

This sparked the imagination of some of the Xerea Empire’s engineers and scientists and became the basis for the different ways their cities have become self sufficient as well. When the Empire fell and the kin'toni plague changed the world, these greenhouses were the reason the city within Yecelbho has been able to survive while under perpetual siege. The snow covered forest of Yecelbho is home to many evergreen trees including the nathutokor tree. This needle leafed evergreen tree is known for the light turquoise needles, its thick scaly bark, and drill shaped pine cones.

The wood of this tree was used in the construction of the towns the natives built to survive the dropping temperatures. This wood was also weather sealed with a coating made from its own resin which protected the wood for many years. They natives made sure to plant more trees to replenish what was used. And when the city was built the used the lumber as part of the trade for the necessary materials to build the city to the design. After which they one again replaced the culled trees. Within the wondrous greenhouse that houses the more beautiful plants there grows the only remaining one of the vanyu'tek.

This perennial flower is known for its wide blooming ice blue petals with dark blue stamens. This flower was only found in the caves over which the city was built, and so they collected a seed to grow within the greenhouse. It is set in the middle of the structure with a plaque detailing where it was discovered and what it represents to the native people. The natives look at the flower as a symbol of the hope the city brought to them, and so they call it the antr'tek.

==Animals==

Not many creatures are strong enough to withstand the cold of the snowy forest forest of Yecelbho. The majority of the wildlife within the area were those with heavy coats or were well insulated against the bitter winds. The majority of the birds later migrated out of the region due to the dropping temperatures. While the land bound mammals were forced to hibernate or adapt to the harsher conditions. Some of the animals were domesticated simply by seeking out the warmth of the shelters made by the local people. It became a truth in the arctic zone that the cold made everyone an ally.

The forced symbiosis of the people and the animals was purely because of survival as many of the animals did not convert to pure domestication. Many times when out on a hunt if the hunter encountered an animal the same type as their hunting partner, it was likely that the creatures would turn on the hunter instead of staying loyal. The only ones to not revert to their wild origins were the ones born within the shelter of the settlements and in the care of the people. Knowing no other life, these animals stayed loyal to their partners. With the creation of the warm city, the animal population increased.

Within the city we’re brought many different animals who were able to survive in the controlled climate. The city even built a small zoo to bring in creatures that otherwise could not survive a day in the frozen forest.
One of the common animals that is local to the frozen forest region is the vatyor'okanu. This rather small carnivorous mammals are known by their pristine white fur coat and grey markings on the snout and paws. Surviving on the smaller creatures in the region, the vatyor'okanu is one of the animals that turned to the local people to survive.

Many became fully domesticated and fed scraps from the cooked meats of the hunted animals. Some decided to run away when the city was established, while others were so domesticated that they were able to adapt to the city existence with the aid of grooming to thin out the fur that was better suited for the arctic climate. Another of the common arctic creatures that is known to wander into and make their home in the region is the dathi'akorval. This massive carnivorous lifeform is recognised for its dirty grey fur, its immense strength, long serrated claws, and powerful jaws.

The dathi'akorval lives off the meat of anything it can catch. As it was the apex predator of the arctic zone until the arrival of the kin'toni, it is quite capable of hunting down any prey it wants. The most common prey is the fish that live with the northern sector of the western sea. The local people do not hunt the dathi'akorval and will go out of their way to avoid the large predators.
