==Geography==

The geography of the Wosayum Glowshroom Bayou is partially affected directly by the explosion of the zu’aan bomb, and is partially changed from the radiation and after effects of the bomb. The bomb itself created a large crater in the centre of the bayou. This area has become filled with water, and is a deep lake, and is also the only area of the bayou where the water flows easily. The rest of the bayou consists of wet, marshy areas, criss-crossed by slow, small streams that split up the land into a deep marsh. The bomb explosion itself destabilized the land.

Creating many cracks and breaks in the land through which the river now flows, and created the bayou. Over time, mud and sediment came into the bayou, and settled, made the land more muddy and slow. The land is not completely split into separate islands and patches of land, but is rather just a soft area of land through which the water now flows and moves, making the land very soft and malleable. It has made the land wet and marshy, hard to travel through. The crater of the bomb is close to the centre of the bayou, but slightly to the north east.

The northern side of the bayou is the most marshy and wet side of the marsh, and is also the least inhabited. The far softer, muddier ground makes it difficult for plants to grow and animals to move, and so the only living things in the area are the massive glowshrooms that are so famous of the area. The southern side of the bayou is the least marshy and most solid, and so is where most of the wildlife and plant growth is found. The eastern side of the bayou has a large amount of the unique glowshrooms of the bayou. At night, this area glows brightly, almost creating a strange blue sunlight to the east during the night.

This area is especially flat, with no sloping at all, and is rather typical of marshy bayou environment. The western side is similarly marshy and unsteady, but has a lower plant life. It still has glowshrooms and animals, but it is less populated than the eastern end of the bayou. The middle of the bayou has a deep, dark lake where the bomb originally exploded. It is from here that much of the water of the area stems and flows, and is the region with the fastest water movement and flow strength. As the water flows further from the centre, it slows more and becomes incredibly sedimentary and slow moving, barely flowing at all.

The rest of the water of the bayou is shallow and dirty, and flows through streams and channels of water that expand across the entire bayou. This water is deep enough for a kin’toni or zu’aan to stand in up to their waist, but can get slightly deeper in places, making it possible to swim in some places.

==Plants==

The most unique plant life of the Wosayum bayou is the glowshrooms for which it is named and known. These glowshrooms are in the form of massive mushrooms that grow to the size and width of trees. They keep almost all function and structure of a mushroom, simply inflated to massive size. The cap of the mushroom spreads for a radius of around two metres, creating an area of shade under the glowshroom. The cap of the glowshroom is the part that glows. In darkness, the cap of the glowshroom suddenly begins to glow a bright, electric, luminescent blue that shines distinctively in the darkness.

When many glowshrooms are gathered together in one place, such as in the eastern edge of the bayou, the combined glowing effect of the multiple glowshrooms light up the darkness to such a degree that they create an artificial blue sunlight, with the are being so bright it is almost impossible to even notice it is night time. These glowshrooms are found all across the bayou, and grow both solitarily and in large groups. They are thick and hard to damage, and it takes a lot of effort for any creature to attempt to cut down a glowshroom.

Glowshrooms can either be brown or greyish white in colour, dependant on where in the bayou it is located. Most of the land of the bayou grows a layer of plants that is very similar to normal grass. It is different in that this grass is closer to a light blue colour than the typical green of grass, and it can grow to around zu’aan waist height. The grass grows in either patches, or covering entire regions of land, and it is very rare to find individual strands or stalks of grass. This grass is surprisingly nutritiously beneficial to the wildlife of the bayou.

And is adapted to spread through the faeces of creatures that have eaten it, in order to maximize the spread of the plant. Within the water of the bayou there grows a large volume of reed-like plants that are adapted to a high volume of water, and to grow rooted in mud. These reeds can grow to startling size, taller than the average zu’aan and kin’toni height in certain areas. When it manages to grow to these heights, it is also surprisingly thick, growing to be as thick around as an arm. These reeds absorb a large amount of water.

When they break or fall, release a large amount of thick, viscous liquid that eventually dries and separates into water and a strange green mud. There is also a large variety of bushes in the bayou. These bushes grow various different berries and fruits, and are usually around shoulder high, with dark green leaves, and deep brown branches and trunks. They are tough and difficult to break or damage, but the berries are very nutritious. The seeds within the berries grow very fast when planted, and as such, there is a high volume of these various types of bushes in the bayou, their fast growth ensuring they take root and become difficult to get rid off now that they are growing.

==Animals==

The animals of the bayou vary from evolved, strange creatures that lived in the area previously, and then changed due to radiation, to more normal creatures that simply moved into the area later when the radiation levels decreased. Most of the creatures of the area are herbivorous, due to the highly nutritious plant types growing in the bayou, but there is also a small population of predatory creatures. There is also a population of aquatic creatures like fish that live in the waters of the bayou, particularly the centre lake.

Most of the wildlife of the bayou is found in or near the centre lake of the bayou (the lake formed by the bomb crater) or to the southern side, where the ground is slightly more solid and not quite as soft. In the centre lake, there is a strong population of fish. These fish vary from very basic, brown fish that can be found almost anywhere, to more unique, evolved fish of the area. One of these evolved fish is a type that glows in the dark, similarly to the glowshrooms of the bayou. It is believed that they glow due to the radiation they absorbed in the same way as the mushrooms.

In the darker areas of the lake the fins of the fish glow a gentle blue, as do their eyes. The largest creature species of the bayou is a species of deer-like herbivore. They are large, bigger than most species of deer, and are a deep, dark brown colour. The antlers of these deer are found both in males and females, and do not grow to great height. Instead, they grow to become incredibly tangled and ingrown, in a strange weaving of horn. These horns are grey in colour, and are very strong and tough, and are difficult to break or damage.

There are other varieties of smaller deer, but they are less common, and lack horns. These deer types mostly eat the distinctive blue grass of the bayou, and the deep green leaves of the bushes. The main predatory species of the bayou is a very unique creature that does not quite fit in with any attempts at classification. It is of a medium to large size, around the chest height of a human, with a short tail, and long legs with sharp claws on their massive paws. They have a hunched, spined back, and a layer of thick fur. The colouration of the fur varies during the day.

At night, it deepens into a shade of dark blue that absorbs the luminescent blue of the glowshrooms. During the morning, the fur lightens to a deep grey, and during the main part of the day, the fur is a brown, tanned colour. These creatures are mostly solitary, though will meet up occasionally to mate. The mothers raise the children till they are old enough to take care of themselves, and then send them off alone into the world.
