==History==

The Vlakia clan was an clan to form inside the zu'aan city occupied by a group of kin'toni clans. The [[Voont Kin'toni Clan|Voont Kin'toni Clan]] was the only clan that travelled to the city and whose members were not zu'aan inhabitants of the city before the outbreak. The [[Parakk Kin'toni Clan]] were the only clan to have been formed as a zu'aan group before being infected, but the Vlakia formed almost instantly after infection. This was because the Vlakia clan was started by two twins Tai’ma and Zai’ma soon after they had been infected. Their transition was surprisingly fast, so much so that the zu'aan group they had been staying with had not realised that the girls had been infected.

When the infection first hit the city, very few of the zu'aan had time to organise themselves into groups, much less militia like the Parakk clan. Most of the zu'aan were stranded either alone or with their families. Since the city was so small and overcrowded, it did not have the culture of joint families, so the families were usually nuclear with young children. Most of the zu'aan, especially those that inhabited the areas first attacked by the kin'toni, did not leave the city. For some, it was because they were scared and did not know where they would go once they left the city; they hoped that the virus would incapacitate the kin'toni before they were infected.

The rest simply could not leave because they were attacked and either killed or infected by the kin'toni. However, the apartment building where Tai’ma and Zai’ma stayed had an underground basement that acted as a bunker for the city residents. However, they occasionally left the basement to gather supplies from their homes. On one of these trips, the sisters were sent together to bring back the supplies from their apartment. A lone kin'toni noticed them and attacked, infecting Tai’ma before Zai’ma killed him. Zai’ma refused to let her sister suffer the disease alone and demanded that she too be infected.

Of course, the kin'toni disease only made the assailants stronger and quicker – it had no long term effects that incapacitated them. The sisters did not know this, but they knew that they had incredible strength compared to any of the zu'aan. They went back to the basement and seized control of it, giving everyone two options – turn, or leave. To everyone’s surprise, the sisters actually let the zu'aan who did not want to turn leave. At the end, only around thirty of the original seventy tenants remained. The twins turned the willing zu'aan and they also had a quick painless transition.

Then, the twins told them they knew where their food was. The freshly turned Vlakia sprinted after the zu'aan who were escaping and ripped them to shreds, often not even bothering to feed from them. They then returned to the apartment building where the twins were waiting. They were a notoriously ruthless clan that believed in violence above all else, not caring whether it was violence against zu'aan or other kin'toni.

==Psychology==

==Biology==

The Vlakia clan was created by two twin sisters. Like the Parakk, they were also made by infecting willing, or mostly willing, zu'aan with the kin'toni virus. The Vlakia clan was both reckless and ruthless. They did not have the kindness of the Voont, the discipline of the Parakk, the humility of the Yergha, or the camaraderie of the Xarte. They had haphazard rules and no respect for anybody other than themselves. In fact, it was quite surprising that the Vlakia clan even decided to form any allies within the city.

It was a surprising move that was made originally by one of the smarter Vlakians who realised that it would become difficult for the clan to survive if they continued to hold out while the other four clans created alliances. The clan was not as uniform as the other clans in the city either, because they were willing to take in kin'toni much after the city settled as well. They also agreed to turn the zu'aan who begged for it, but in both these matters the Vlakia were very fickle and often ended up torturing those that came to them for help.

Most of the Vlakia had the same features though. The Voont joked that the ruthlessness of the Vlakians was clearly reflected in their eyes. This is because the Vlakian eyes looked almost entirely black when not in the sun. They had incredibly dark purple irises that blended into their black sclerae and black pupils very naturally. The purple was intense and deep but only visible in direct light; in that light it was also visible that they had the vertical slit pupils of most of the kin'toni. The Vlakians were stronger than the Voont, but that is the only clan in the city that they are stronger than.

After the death of the twin sisters, the clan lost most of its strength as the other members were heavily dependant on the sisters to be the strength of the clan. As the members did not have a training schedule, or really any other schedule to their lives, they usually did not bother to train their bodies. For some reason, most of the Vlakia kin'toni aged quicker than other kin'toni and died at almost the same life span as that of the zu'aan had been before the kin'toni infection struck and uprooted their lives.

They frankly did not care about maintaining their numbers, and the only time there were any new additions to the clan was when they let a kin'toni join their ranks or turned a zu'aan. They often had a shortage of blood as their hunting groups were disorganized and badly trained, and their missions usually ended in death rather than successful hunting.

==Culture==

The Vlakia clan was one of the early inside the city of the Parakk, the Yergha, the Voont and the Xarte. The original kin'toni were all willingly turned from Zu'aan. The Vlakia clan was both reckless and ruthless. They did not have the kindness of the Voont, the discipline of the Parakk, the humility of the Yergha, or the camaraderie of the Xarte. They had haphazard rules and no respect for anybody other than themselves, which led to the demise of the clan. No one was expecting it when the Vlakia clan even decided to form any allies within the city.

The Vlakians had originally reject both Voont efforts to make their lives more comfortable, and Parakk efforts to create a structure within the city. After they rejected the Voont, the Voont gave them some hand-made clothes and furniture as gifts. The leaders took these gifts, happy that they had conned the kind Voont; however, their own clan members revolted as they also wanted the comforts that the Voont could provide. Thus the Vlakians had to begin trading with the Voont. They often had a shortage of blood as their hunting groups were disorganized and badly trained, and their missions usually ended in death rather than successful hunting, and thus they found it difficult to pay the Voont off.

Here, the Parakk inteferred and ensured that there was justice delivered to their ally clan, the Voont. However, this was difficult to do as the Vlakians had no respect for anyone, except for their individual selves. This led to a monetary system being created inside the Vlakia clan, where blood, or even a whole zu'aan, was considered currency. This led to a lot of unrest in the clan as the hunting groups who were successful refused to share their blood without some sort of beneficial exchange for themselves. This led to even more of the Vlakia kin'toni going out on hunting groups – which usually resulted in death, and left the Vlakia territory vulnerable.

Like most of the clans in the city, the Vlakians knew how to reproduce but they did not think that they should. They thought of turning zu'aan and reproducing as an act that was before their station. They had little respect or kindess for the kin'toni who did become pregnant and that discouraged the members even further. They frankly did not care about maintaining their numbers, and the only time there were any new additions to the clan was when they let a kin'toni join their ranks or turned a zu'aan.

==Government==

The Vlakia clan was the second clan to form inside the zu'aan city occupied by the Parakk, Xarte and Yergha clans. Despite its early inception, the Vlakia clan had one of the weakest structures compared to all the other clans. Of course, initially, they had been formidable. The clan had been started by twin sisters who had gotten immense strength after being infected. After the death of the twin sisters, the clan lost most of its strength as the other members were heavily dependent on the sisters to be the strength of the clan.

The Vlakia clan was both reckless and ruthless. They took no effort to better themselves, nor learn from the other clans around them, unlike the Yergha and Xarte. They had haphazard rules and no respect for anybody other than themselves. They were neither kind, nor disciplined, nor creative, nor smart. This had been an alright system for the clan for as long as the sisters were alive, but soon after their death the instability of the clan took root.

Some of the Vlakia kin'toni fought each other for the power to rule over the clan, but a lot of them had been brainwashed by the sisters. The sisters were cunning – they used a combination of fear, admiration, lust and envy to keep an iron grip on the clan members. They forced the clan members to worship them and eventually the clan members were brainwashed into thinking that the sisters were actually gods. Hence, even after the sisters died, most of the delusional Vlakia kin'toni thought it was a sick test by the sisters to see who was faithful to them. They squashed anyone who tried to rise to power, and murdered anyone who tried to bring reform to the clan.

The only semblance of diplomacy the Vlakia clan had was a lone kin'toni named Al’aysur. In fact, it was quite surprising that the Vlakia clan even decided to form any allies within the city. It was a surprising move that was made by Al’aysur, one of the smarter Vlakians who realised that it would become difficult for the clan to survive if they continued to hold out while the other four clans created alliances. His efforts, however, were in vain, as even though the clans that inhabited the city with the Vlakia kin'toni decided to be civil to them, they knew well enough not to trust the Vlakia clan with anything.

After one point, this disorder ate the clan from inside out. They had no security. They often had a shortage of blood as their hunting groups were disorganized and badly trained, and their missions usually ended in death rather than successful hunting, and thus they found it difficult to pay the Voont off, which led to unrest in the city. The clan was on the brink of collapsing on itself.

==Military==

The Vlakia kin'toni clan originally had a strong military, but that was not something that continued for long. The twin sisters maintained a strong military for the duration of their rule over the clan. The sisters were incredibly strong, especially compared to the other kin'toni in the city. The sisters were obsessed with the perfection of the clan. they wanted to be better than anyone else in the city. They were cruel and malicious to anyone who did not obey them. Under the twin sisters, the military had a strict regime. The military was split into units of 10 members, and each unit had a commander.

The commanders had to report to the twins. If any of them disobeyed, they were tortured by the sisters in front of the entire clan. The sisters often dropped in on the training of the units as surprise to make sure the training was going well. The units were split into morning, evening and night shifts. They had to wake up hours before their shift, and go for a long run into the forest and back. Then, they went immediately for their shifts either hunting in the forest or patrolling the city. They spent 8 hours on their shift. After that shift, they could relax and feed for a while, but then they had to train to ensure they were in the heights of their physical ability.

Then, they were free to do whatever they wanted, until it was time for them to sleep. It was mandatory for them to sleep at least 7 hours but no more than 9. However, the sisters were both the bane and the boon of the clan. The clan was so wholly dependant on them that they fell apart after the sisters died. The sisters thought they were well, but their bodies aged as quickly as the zu'aan after they were 80 years old. They died while on a hunting trip when they were attacked by the zu'aan, as their bodied could not heal. Sadly, the sisters had convinced the clan that they were goddesses and had turned most of the people in the clan into Zealots.

Some of them were smart enough to realise that the sisters were not actually Goddesses, but they were outnumbered and condemned by the zealots. The zealots believed that the sisters would look over the clan no matter what. They feared that following another leader would anger them and bring their wrath upon the clan. many of them considered this a test of their loyalty. Thus, they shunned or murdered anyone who tried to rise to power. The zealots were too stupid to realise the commander system in the military also existed when the sisters were alive. They demolished the commander system and lost all their discipline without the iron grip of the sisters.

Eventually, their disregard for their own bodies caused the already weak Vlakia kin'toni to lose most of their strength. They were a clan that was low on food and power, and every other clan in the city knew it.

==Religion==

Like all of the other clans in the city, the Vlakia followed the Voont’s H’lla religion, however they also had their own religion – that of the two warrior twins. Most of the kin'toni of the Vlakia clan now believed that their religion was created naturally out of respect for their creators, but the sisters Tai’ma and Zai’ma had forced the original Vlakia clan to worship their strength. The sisters were surprisingly stronger than the rest of the members and they made sure to remind everyone who did not agree to worship – they challenged them to one on one hands-on combat and gruesomely defeated their opponents. As the generations passed, the stories of their harshness faded and only the warrior twins religion remained.

But that alone was not enough for the Valkians. Despite the fact that the kin'toni were incredibly strong and genetically superior, their life was not easy. Their religion gave them something to believe in. The city had had a solid structure, but years of low maintenance had ruined the buildings. Moreover, they did not have access to electricity or tap water, or any of the luxuries they brought. Their technology was stuck in the stone ages, especially without assistance. However, the Voont ideals and religion taught them to be kind and giving and that resonated in good will with the entire city.

Thus, when the Voont started practicing H’lla, the Parakk clan did as well, and the other clans in the city eventually followed, whether weeks or decades later. H’lla gained so many followers that a major temple was created near the border of the Voont territory near the forest. The major temple had priests from every clan, practicing H’lla and praying to the goddess H’llaya all year round. However, apart from the priests, no one was allowed to enter or leave the temple throughout the year. This was because consuming blood one days before entering H’llaya’s home was considered sacrilegious.

This was why the temple needed so many priests, because other than Voont kin'toni, many kin'toni could not go more than two days without blood and thus the priests constantly rotated in and out of the temple to feed while maintaining the strength of the temple. The temple was open to the public only on the four holidays of the year – each of which was considered the start of a new season. One these days, only one delegation of kin'toni travelled to the temple from each clan, to ask for guidance and protection for the next season. Thus, the main area of worship for the kin'toni were in the temples inside their territories.

These temples were considered passages to the house of H’llaya and thus did not hold the same rules of fasting. Most clans developed their own system for worshipping in these smaller temples. Unlike most of the clans, the Vlakian clan had only one, very small temple in their area. This was because despite the fact that they followed H’lla, their primary religion was of the two warrior goddesses, which had no requirement for temples or any such religious structures. The only went to the H’lla temple once every two weeks to offer their prayers for a short while and leave.

However, they followed their primary religion before every feeding by offering some of their own blood to the ground as sacrifice to the twins.

==Miscellany==

The Vlakia clan's survival after twin warrior sisters who started the clan died could only have been given to Al'aysur, who was a smart and cunning kin'toni, unlike the rest of the Vlakia kin'toni. He realized that the Vlakia kin'toni clan was the only one left without any allies after a point. The Parakk had immediately taken the Voont in, and the Yergha and Xarte were soon to follow, even though they had to work a lot for the right. The Vlakia clan had very little to offer to the other clans even at this early stage, but Al'aysur was as kind as he was smart and he wanted to do something for the Vlakia kin'toni that saved him.

By this time, the Vlakia kin'toni clan had already rejected the Voont kin'toni clan's attempt at camaraderie, and they had been one of the only clans to not have formed a monetary blood based pact with the Voont kin'toni clan after being offered free gifts. The kin'toni had to think a lot if he wanted to save his people. First, he approached the Voont clan and confirmed that they would still be willing to work for the Voont. The Voont agreed, and being courteous as they are, invited him in for refreshments. There, Al'aysur learned the simple fact that would both be the Vlakia kin'toni clan's savior and demise.

In casual conversation, the Voont kin'toni let it slip that they had faced some issues in collecting dues and commissions from the other clans. Al'aysur took this information and went to the Parakk kin'toni. Although the Parakk kin'toni would claim it was their idea, it had been Al'aysur's idea to form an interclan justice system that would finally include the Vlakia kin'toni. This would lead to the demise of the Vlakia clan after his death. The Vlakia clan's inability to hunt would make it difficult for them to reap Voont benefits.

To make all of it worse, while the Vlakians did have some sort of relationship with the other clans but they did not have any strong allies. The Voont and the Parakk had each other’s backs, as did the Xarte and the Yergha, but the Vlakia clan had no one, not even themselves.

To make it worse, amongst the four clans of the city, the Vlakia clan was known to be least dependable. The other four clans secretly knew that they would sacrifice Vlakia without a second doubt if it ever came down to it.
