==Geography ==

Usk’yer Cold Roofed Forest Hills is truly a sight to behold. It has a certain majesty to it. The natural landscape causes this effect. Usk’yer Cold Roofed Forest Hills, the actual name, reveals quite a bit about the geography of the forest. The forest lies atop rolling hills that extend for miles. These hills can get fairly large and some hills can take a few hours to summit. The forest that grows on the hills is the later addition to the main Usk’yer forest. On the hills, the forest is more spread out and leaves a lot of room in between trees for foliage and animals.

Part of the majesty of the Usk’yer Cold Roofed Forest is the rolling hills. They somehow manage to take one's breath away upon one long look. With the Quanys clan living in the forest, seeing any part of it is a challenge, but the view that can be seen is well worth it. Besides the hills, the forest is the other main component of the Usk’yer forest. The forest has some tricky geography. The forest grew in a circle essentially; starting with the center, and then growing outwards in that circle shape. Atop the hills, the forest is spread out and larger carriages and creatures are able to move easily through it.

As the hills get smaller, and one gets closer to the center of the forest, the trees gradually grow closer together. It is impossible for any sort of carriage to get through, but those larger animals can find a way to maneuver through the trees if need be. A lot of smaller woodland creatures can be found in this area. One very important thing to mention about the forest is that the farther out from the center one is, the more light there is. The trees have very thick canopies and absorb a lot of natural light. So in the middle area of the forest, it begins to get much darker than the outer parts.

Finally, in the centermost part of the forest is where nighttime is the only time. The roof part of Usk’yer Cold Roofed Forest lives up to its name in the center. Trees are so tightly packed together, that only a master of the land would have an easy time getting through. Traversing the innermost parts of the forest is not for the faint of heart. Quanys kin’toni are the only non-animal creatures that actually inhabit the forest. They have established many different settlements throughout the forest to ensure that no other kin’toni clan can get through.

The settlements also ensure that any zu’aan that finds their way into the forest becomes dinner. There are settlements in the northeast, south, west, and center parts of the forest. On the borders and outskirts of the forest, particularly in the northeast, there are border patrol settlements to prevent the aforementioned kin’toni from entering. The Usk’yer Cold Roofed Forest Hills is also home to a few streams that cut through it.

== Plants ==

Due to its nature of being a forest, the Usk’yer Cold Roofed Forest Hills is home to an abundance of flora and fauna. It is, of course, made up of trees. These trees are very large, both in height and width. They have thick canopies that are a few feet in width. This fact is what makes the center part of the forest so dark. Going down the tree are many branches and leaves, but they thin out farther down the trunk. The trunk of the trees is dark brown and very solid. They are hard to cut down. The kin’toni clan that inhabits the forest knows that, and in their way of honoring the forest; they forage for branches rather than cutting down trees for supplies.

The branches can sometimes be very large, so it is rather unnecessary to cut down a tree in the first place. The Quanys clan makes use of the branches by creating weapons and shields, and even building settlements with the larger ones. Besides the trees, the forest is also home to many native fruits, herbs, and shrubbery. The canape fruit is the easiest fruit to forage in the forest. It is red in color and high in nutrients like fiber. The main consumers of the canape are the woodland creatures that live within the forest.

Canape grows high up on the trees and is only consumed when they have fallen off the tree. They grow during the winter, are fully formed in the spring, and are seen on the ground in the fall. It never gets warm enough in the forest for summer to actually occur. Another fruit that grows locally is the feroni. Feroni is the best fruit to consume in the whole forest. It is high in nutrients, easy to find, and grows at an increased rate than that of the canape. To feast on a feroni is to feast with the forest. Herbs that grow locally should always be foraged when one comes across them.

The natural herbs that grow have a very good, yet particular flavor. The main herb used by the local kin’toni clan is the saythe herb. Saythe has a very woody flavor, but when a lot is used, it becomes a hot spice. The herb is so popular and sought after, that the rare brave zu’aan will risk venturing into the forest to forage some. Saythe is an interesting herb, not just in flavor but also in the way it grows. It can only grow within the borders of Usk’yer Cold Roofed Forest Hills. Attempting to grow it outside the borders will only result in disappointment for the farmer, and death for the plant.

The herb itself grows on the plant of the same name. The saythe plant can be found growing at the base of the large trees in the forest. It is only a foot in height and has sharp tendrils. On the ends of those sharp tendrils is where the saythe herb grows.

== Animals ==

The forest is home to quite a few animals. Usk’yer Cold Roofed Forest Hills offers an abundance of resources and habitats that many animals can live in. Regular forest creatures can always be seen. Animals scurry along with the floors and fly up near the canopy. These creatures are left alone for the most part. Both by the kin’toni and any wandering beasts. Most beasts that live in the forest are no larger than the kin’toni. They are actually hunted by the local clan and their skin and meat are used for leather and food respectively. These beasts are commonly called esrans.

They walk on four legs and are covered head to toe in a dark red fur coat. They are rather peaceful creatures, but they are carnivores so they feast on the smaller woodland animals that run around. The Quanys only hunt them out of necessity, and never for sport, so the population inclines at a steady rate. These gentle giants stick to the outer and middle regions of the forest. Another notable animal that resides in the Usk’yer Cold Roofed Forest Hills is the oremo. Oremo are a type of deer. They walk on four legs and have hooves instead of paws.

They have light brown fur, a horn at the top of their head, and large light-colored eyes. These creatures are docile. They are the main consumers of the various bushes scattered throughout the forest. Oremo are known to love a canape whenever they get the chance to eat one. The local clan sometimes hunts oremo for their horns and skin. The horns make good weapons as they are very sharp and sturdy. The skin makes warm leather. Similar to the esrans, oremo are hunted rarely and only out of necessity. Some zu’aan will wander into the forest hoping for a chance to see the magnificent oremo.

They are rather common creatures, however, they live almost exclusively in the middle region of the Usk’yer Cold Roofed Forest Hills. That makes seeing them a rarity for zu’aan, as the zu’aan are normally hunted once they enter the forest. The Usk’yer Cold Roofed Forest Hills, as previously stated, is home to many woodland creatures. There are far too many to count. One of the smaller creatures that exist in the forest is called the no’tti. These creatures are special as they spend most of their time in the water of the streams that cut through the outer parts of the forest.

No’tti, like oremo, are docile and harmless creatures. They are herbivores and only consume the local fruits and veggies that grow in the forest. They build homes in and by the river out of the branches that fall to the ground. Despite their small stature, they can carry items double if not triple their own weight. They have brown fur and buck teeth that chew down the branches and make them easier to build with. These creatures are very smart; tending to avoid any hunting zu’aans.
