==Geography==

The Trin Lush Swampy Grove is in the North East region of Taerel, close to the [[Old’kali Volcano Valley|Old’kali Volcano Valley]], and the [[taerel:Cersamhin Evergreen Taiga|Cersamhin Evergreen Taiga]]. The region has many areas of mini swamps inside it. There is a river that connects the various swamps (which the Zanglor find the sounds of calming), originating from the Cersamhin region. The grove of trees in the region are slightly higher elevation than the swamp, growing on the dry land. The various small groves are sprinkled though out the region giving it a strange speckled look from the sky.

In the South East of the region, close to the border there is an extremely deep section of the swamp that been called ‘the endless abyss’. This is due to the fact that that specific section of the swamp is sitting on top of a deep tar pit so once something falls into the swamp and hits the floor, it sinks into the tar pit below and is lost to the owner forever. Rain is a relatively often occurrence, which makes the swamp flood multiple times a season to the level of the base of the tree trunks. The flooding usually lasts about a week before the water drains, as long as there are no other showers in the region during that time.

The majority of the year the region is overcast which fuels some of the humidity in the region. The nights are cool and the days warm up, so in the early hours of the morning until around noon there’s a dense fog in the entire region. Around noon the fog clears, but the air remains largely humid. Zu’aan rarely stay long periods in the region due to the humidity commonly causing trouble breathing after an extended period. The Zanglor find it extremely comforting though and is one of the appeals of the region. There is a short month long period where any standing water completely freezes, and the topmost layer of the rivers freezes over.

At the start of the season the temperature drops so quickly that the morning fog and mist freezes giving everything in the region a layer of ice. Inside the caves, they hold their still cold, but consistent temperature, despite the large drop on the surface. The Zanglor did not make any structures in the region, and only used the naturally available caves and burned trees as their homes. As they moved, submerging themselves deeper into the rocks and caves, they discovered long forgotten waterways beneath the surface of the region. Connected to the waterways was large subterranean caverns where the Zanglor usually made their home in the pitch black.

Inside most of the caverns were icy pools that connected to even more long submerged underwater caves. The caverns are filled with stalactite and stalagmites from centuries of humid dripping. They vary in sizes and thickness, so the Zanglor use them as markers especially for where their sleeping spots are. Despite their weak frames, they could get into incredibly violent and destructive fighting. Miscounting the stalagmites has led to multiple fights breaking out where there have been a number of them broken- forcing the group to relearn the new markers.

The caves are largely quiet as the Zanglor huddle in silence, with only the sound of running water and water drops to break the silence.

==Plants==

The Trin has a habit of flooding, which all the plants in the region have adapted to be able to live through. All of them have a special lining coating their roots that acts as a first defense barrier which blocks and only allows water to trickle in. That way no matter how soaked the region gets, the plant gets the same amount of water no matter what. The Haedueru are the trees in the region that make up the groves. They had to adapt so that their roots grow a mix of under and above ground- usually at least another foot above the dirt before the tree trunks start.

This is because the region floods often and would rot out the tree bark if it were flush with the ground. Because of this, the roots can create maze like systems for smaller creatures or fish when the area floods. The roots adapted to grow completely in water if they had to, so they are unbothered by any flooding that happens in the region. They have a combination of branches, the lower being majorly similar to a weeping willow, where they are thin and droop toward the ground with thin hair like stands coming off. The upper half of the branches as they get older stiffen out and become more like a standard forest tree with the leaves and branches growing upward creating a canopy above the tree.

Also growing in the swamp is a large venus fly trap like plant called the phaeralriaru. The plant is made up of a series of small mouths around a larger hidden mouth. The phaeralriaru gives off an extremely strong scent that attracts a number of bugs. The bugs either get trapped in the mouth by triggering the thin hair like strands along the outside, or they wonder inside and slip into a standing set of enzymes that begin to dissolve them, starting with their wings first. The plant relies heavily on the smaller mouths to keep it fed for most of the year, as the muddy soil doesn’t retain very much in the way of nutrients- each rain washes away any gathered nutrients.

The hidden mouth is rarely used, but when it is its for larger creatures like the Berkaja who hunt insects and are attracted to the plant because of them. Its rare to happen, but when one wonders close enough to be caught, if successful the Phaeralriaru will go into a hibernation like state while consuming the larger prey. The smaller mouths will continue to catch smaller prey as additional food storage. Not all the plants in the region are carnivorous, like the naeduedru. The naeduedru is a water plant similar to a lotus or water lily.

To gets its nutrients, it connects to plants other plants roots- usually carnivorous type as they have higher levels of nutrients to feed off of. The plant will have multiple blooms surrounding the mouth-piece and keeping it hidden until it is too late for the bug to notice. If or when the original host dies, the naeduedru will move on to the next nearest plant, sometimes connecting to another naeduedru creating a larger growing network that their host must feed.

==Animals==

The swampy nature of the region allowed for many creatures to take refuge in the region. Various fish species found their way up the river that connected the Rrin and Cersamhin regions, giving a steady fish population. Along with them other species as well. The berkaja is a bat like creature that lives in the caverns with the Zanglor. They are night hunters, so will sleep during the day same as them. The Zanglor also use them as a last layer warning system if they are in a deep enough sleep that they miss any scents of any approaching enemy.

The zanglor would be able to hear the commotion of the group of Berkaja fleeing if there was any threat allowing them to flee deeper into the cave or take an alternate path to the surface. The Berkaja stay near the front sections of the caves as there’s more food readily available; though if there was sufficient food, they would say as deep as the Zanglor do. Being night hunters, the Berkaja have eyes specifically adapted for night and near pitch black conditions, as well as using sound to locate prey. They are extremely tiny so that they can fit into the smallest of crevices in the rocks when hiding or sleeping- their heads being smaller than a zu’aan’s finger.

Because of their small size, they usually eat insect type creatures in the region, which are abundant due to the nature of the usually standing water being a perfect breeding ground. The berkaja would have to remain vigilant while hunting though, as yiynai also lived by the water. They are a heron like bird and while usually active during the day, would catch and eat berkaja if they got close enough. Yiynai have long necks about the same length as their torsos which they use to catch various small reptiles and fish that live in the water.

Their feet were suited specifically so that they would not sink in the mud, and with their long legs it was rare that their bodies would ever need to get wet. The yyiynai live in groups and sleep standing, so if one is disturbed it with wake the others and they will all flee the area temporarily. The chorral is a reptile in the region similar to a gavialis and is often the cause for the yiyani to flee. It has a long thin snout due to the tight crevices the various fish it hunts live in. They have high resting eyes and adapted to be able to swim without displacing any water, making it near impossible for anyone not knowing they were there to detect them.

They also contain a secondary smaller internal jaw that allows them to hunt larger creatures their thin snout and small mouth usually wouldn’t allow. Using their main jaw they would catch the larger prey and use the secondary jaw to break them into smaller pieces that they could safely consume. Despite their rather menacing hunting style, they would rarely attack zu’aan as they are individual hunters and would be outnumbered to safely hunt a zu’aan. If there is an attack it is usually due to the fact that the kin’toni or zu’aan invaded their home or nesting ground.
