==Geography ==

Torsh Dense Taiga Forest is mostly a thick and dense forest; as the name would imply. The trees are large, and the canopy they form overhead darkens the forest. It makes it hard to determine night and day when wandering throughout the Torsh forest. The whole Torsh area is made up of forest. While the trees are large, it is easy to wander throughout. The trees are not packed tightly together and many pathways have been formed by large beasts that reside in the forest. Torsh trees are landmarks in their own right. They reach high into the sky and the larger ones are used as markers to help people in the forest keep track of where they are.

The forest is very confusing, and these trees can act as lifesavers to a confused traveler that does not want to be out in the forest, unprotected, at nighttime. Being a taiga forest, it has a dry and cold climate. The winters in the forest alter the geography slightly. The pathways disappear, and the forest gets much darker due to the snow packing on top of the canopy and leaves of the trees. The summer months are much more temperate and it is more enjoyable to be out in the forest. Torsh Dense Taiga Forest doesn’t really get four seasons.

Winter is quite obvious, but spring, summer, and fall are really grouped together as one season. Right as the snow begins to melt is when the spring technically begins. It is only characterized by its cold rain showers and new plants and baby animals being seen. Summer is when it's slightly warmer, but this sub-season is very dry. Even though it is technically the warm season, it still doesn’t get very warm. Only warm enough to melt the few frozen lakes that exist in the forest. Being a rather dry climate, wildfires are common in the warmer season.

They happen frequently and in various parts of the forest. These fires don’t destroy much, but they do have a much deadlier consequence than the burning of plant life. When the trees of the Torsh forest are burned down, a poisonous gas is released. This gas should be avoided if possible, and one should avoid breathing it in for too long. The winter months are rather beautiful to see in the forest. The few lakes that exist in the Torsh forest radiate light in the otherwise dark forest when they freeze. They offer a glow that can sometimes light the path of a confused traveler.

Besides the natural beauty of the forest in the winter, it is also the preferred month as fires rarely occur during this season. The winter months are safer in the forest.

== Plants ==

Torsh Dense Taiga Forest is composed mostly of the Torsh ac’er tree. The ac’er tree is a tall and thick tree that reaches high up into the sky. They are coniferous trees, meaning the leaves never change color and fall. Ac’er trees typically grow to be about 100 feet tall with a trunk diameter of around 7 feet. Their leaves are more needle-like and have a blue-green color to them. Tree bark of an ac’er tree is thin and rather smooth, mostly brown but some have a greenish tint to them. Inside of the ac’er tree is a sap. This sap is rather tasty in its liquid form but is deadly when heated into a gas.

The poisonous gas that lurks in the forest comes entirely from the ac’er tree’s sap that is heated due to the frequent wildfires. The gas released is what causes the odd nature of the forest; what makes the forest almost impossible to leave. Properties of the gas include but are not limited to; coughing, dry eyes, disorientation, and when inhaled extensively, death. The forest is not sentient, and so it cannot actually keep the creatures inside trapped. The poisonous gas released by the sun ac’er tree is what disorients the creatures and people, and prevents them from figuring the way out.

Long exposure to the gas should be avoided, and when there is a fire, masks should be worn to prevent inhaling the gas, as it has a long-range effect. The ac’er tree is the only reason it is so hard to leave the forest. Its giant size and uniform look are already confusing, add a poisonous gas that causes disorientation, and there is no hope of making it out of the forest alive.
A far less deadly, actually not deadly at all, plant that grows in the Torsh forest is the vet’isa. The vet’isa plant is actually a fruit tree. The tree part of the vet’isa is evergreen but the fruit part only grows in what is considered the spring part of the year.

The fruit is a light red, almost pink color and can be consumed by all creatures, even kin’toni, and zu’aan. They have healing properties: they are able to treat flesh wounds and heal the skin at a faster rate. It has been said that the vet’isa bark makes a good bread substitute, and the fruit makes a good jam. These trees can be seen and picked from outside the Torsh forest.
There are also many other edible plants in the Torsh forest. Many vegetables grow deep within it. Some of the local farmers that live outside the forest have gone in during certain winters to grab the brolera vegetable to grow in their own gardens, outside the forest.

This vegetable has a flowery appearance and thrives in the winter. It is high in nutrients, and can even be used to treat the effects of the poisoned gas. The forest may be harmful, but it's also medicinal.

== Animals ==
-
The Om’cer kin’toni clan are not the only inhabitants of the Torsh Dense Taiga Forest. Many animals call the forest their home and have for a long time. Some of these creatures are rather defensive of their home, and due for that reason, have become very dangerous predators. One of these creatures is a type of yaertin; simply called the torsh yaertin. The torsh yaertin is a unique subspecies of the common yaertin. They are one of the largest known types of yaertin in Taerel growing to be over 10 feet tall when standing on their back legs. Torsh yaertin are strictly born during the winter time and are more active during that time as well.

For a long time, the torsh yaertin were omnivores, enjoying the many vegetables that grow in the forest. When the first zu’aan tribe entered the forest, they quickly became carnivores. The zu’aan that didn’t fall victim to the poisonous gas became dinner for the torsh yaertin. The torsh yaertin are so large that they have no need to be skilled hunters, they can simply fight and kill any prey with ease. They sleep when it is assumed to be nighttime, but spend most of their time marching along the forest looking for their next big score. Another fearsome predator in the forest is the torsh ol’wers. The torsh ol’wer is gigantic.

It rivals the height and weight of the torsh yaertin. These creatures are covered in dark grey and black fur, adorned with long legs and a bushy tail. These creatures have always preyed on the other animals of the forest, but as more zu’aan and kin’toni entered the forest, they developed a blood lust for them, kin’toni specifically. They hunt kin’toni for fun, really. They put up more of a fight and can actually be chased throughout the forest. Torsh ol’wer have been known to hunt purely for fun, and not even eat their hunted prey. Many of the victims of the ol’wer can be seen scattered throughout the forest, usually ripped to shreds.

On a different note, there is a creature that the kin’toni hunt. This creature is more docile and far less dangerous than the other two previously mentioned beasts. This animal is called an aru’co. A common trend in the animals of the Torsh forest is that they are big. The aru’co does not stray from this trend; standing at about 5 feet tall on average, the aru’co has plenty of blood coursing through its large body to sustain the Om’cer kin’toni clan. They are herbivores and enjoy the fruit of the vet’isa plant, as well as the other local vegetation.

They have also even seen eating the bark off the ac’er tree, and when possible, the sap from inside. Aru’co usually travel mostly in packs, making them easy targets for a kin’toni hunting party to really score. They have light brown fur, large hooves, and green antlers. They blend into their environment, making them a little harder to hunt.
