==History==

The Tonetor kin'toni Clan are a clan of kin'toni who resided in the [[Zalrie Fungal Forest]]. They finally settled in the region after a period of constant migration following their creation. The Tonetor are a battle hardened group who have faced all sorts of opponents from fellow kin'toni armies to armed zu'aan enclaves. Their war riddled history was due to their inability to get along with their neighbors in peace. They were an argementative clan who bargained over any small matter and would regularly pick fights to bully their neighbors into submission.

This attitude won them very little allies apart from those who had submitted to their oppression. This nature was prevalant from their early days. They were created with an aggressive mix of genes that had an innate desire to dominate and enforce their will on others. They were created in the zu'aan labs far to the west of the Zalrie Fungal Forest but were driven eastwards over years of migration and conquering. They defeated many zu'aan enclaves in the process and negotiated truce allowing the enclaves to survive as long as they provided a constant stream of able bodied zu'aan to be "turned" into one of their own.

This method ensured their long term survivability and kept their numbers replenished at a healthy rate. Over the course of their travels the Tonetor encountered a hostile and very aggressive kin'toni clan just outside of Zalrie who didn't take kindly to their presence. This resulted in a large scale war ending in defeat for the Tonetor. With their enemy in pursuit, the clan was forced to find refuge within the deep and dark woods of the Zalrie forests. They survived by the skin of their teeth but were back to rebuilding and engaging in conflicts within the next few years.

A decision was made to make the forest their permanent home since it provided all that they needed- seclusion, safety, readily available food in the form of edible fungus and a temperate climate. The shift to operating from a stationary home affected their ability to influence the outside world but even with their limitations, the Tonetor were able to find a few neighboring zu'aan villages which became their source of new recruits. Their settlements within the forest began to develop with ideas borrowed from many of the zu'aan enclaves. They had their own city and efences set up and began to organize their society.

But also their military in a way that reflected their new status as a settled race. They still angered their neighbors from time to time and minor conflicts would occasionally break out. However, their stationary status meant that they were able to meet or piss off fewer tribes. The Tonetor became known for their shrewd bargaining and cunning. Any emissary of theirs was treated to the suspicious glares of other clans. Despite the hatred of outsiders, they managed to build a functioning settlement for themselves and were a rare example of a kin'toni clan who could go toe-to -toe in an argument with the zu'aan.

==Biology==

The Tonetor kin'toni Clan were equipped with the physical stature and build to dominate the zu'aan and some of the weaker kin'toni clans of Taerel. The height of full grown adults in their clan ranged from six feet five to seven feet seven. Within this wide gap existed individuals of all body shapes. The typical and most common archetypes were the stocky adults with fat and muscles covering their large bones. Along with the leaner and more athletic and tall Tonetors who could dominate with their athletic excellence and incredible stamina while lacking in general strength and power.

Their athletic prowess and incredible statures also gave them the confidence to consider themselves superior to all other clans in the region and fed their ego. They were among the most self conscious kin'toni around and devoted a considerable amount of their day to looking presentable. Their faces were not bony and jaunt like other blood feeding people. Instead they were plump with healthy colors that were often exaggerated with make-up. The Tonetor kin'toni clans had hair the color of fire. They grew their hair out as a custom and braided them into decorative patterns over their heads.

These designs had some religious significance to them or were meant to tell some tale from their history. The Tonetor had dark purple irises with black sclerae and vertical beaded pupils. Their eyes were not as sensitive to light and they could spent a reasonable part of their days exposed to the light without any side effects. Even with this adaptation, their main strength was their night vision which was way superior to their daylight vision.Their ears were oval and slightly protruded from the sides of their head. Their hearing was adequate.

But their brains had the uncanny capacity to pick up and distinguish multiple voices at once. It made it easier to listen to large debates and pick up specific voices in a crowded room. This was an important feature for the Tonetor who were always engaged in arguments and debates in their spare time. Their mouth was smooth and well lubricated with an agile tongue that allowed them to speak clearly and speak well. It was a common practice among the Tonetor to avoid the use of the mouth and teeth as a weapon, fearing that it could compromise and ruin the tone of their voice.

Their nostrils were wide and facilitated proper breathing and control while performing any kind of activity or when they were in the middle of their speeches. The Tonetor kin'toni Clan had pink colored skin that was smooth and could acquire a very polished look when enhanced with make-up as the Tonetor were accustomed to doing. Their layer of skin itself was quite vulnerable and it was the hard muscle fibres and fat layers underneath that provided protection against blows and cuts. They were perfectly capable of using their arms and legs as weapons when necessary.

Their bones were not the strongest but they could survive several large impacts before they started to crumble or break.

==Culture==

The Tonetor were known for their talkative natures. They spent their free time debating and arguing among themselves as a way to hone their speech and wit. The Tonetor style of talking was both aggressive and persuasive, it allowed the listener very little time to make rebuttals and was relentless in the manner in which the points were made. It was very indicative of their aggressive mentality and their need to dominate their opponents. They were also able to back up their speeches and threats with large physical frames and fighting skills, making them a nightmare to deal with.

Their speaking skills were vital in the bargaining table and allowed them to secure the upper hand in most negotiations and trades. Their culture actively encouraged this skill by organizing formal debates and discussions for the entire clan. New initiates were made to watch and had to learn quickly if they wanted to survive within the harsh Tonetor clan. A person who hadn't yet mastered this aggressive way of speaking would find themselves at the receiving end of bullying and humilation until he could stand his own ground. The Tonetor carved many stone amphitheaters for their debates.

These venues could seat hundreds and accomodate even more in the standing areas. They were designed to amplify sound in such a way that even the people standing in the back would be able to follow the conversations. These arena's would also host large fights- another favorite pastime of the Tonetor kin'toni clan. The people loved fighting and it was no surprise that they were constantly involved in wars. In peacetime they trained and sharpened their skills in these fighting matches. It allowed them to blow off some steam and let out their aggression in a controlled and constructive manner without disturbing society.

These events were a large part of their economy with people betting all sorts of produce, meat, blood or services on their fighters. Unruly scenes were a common theme when a person felt he had been cheated or was a sore loser.
Their culture was known for its racist attitudes which were prevalent throughout the entire strata of society. They looked down on the zu'aan of the surface and would actively try to humiliate the villages and towns that they had subjugated. Their prejudice even extended to other kin'toni clans who the Tonetor considered to be inferior to their clan.

They were taught to value the Tonetor way of life froma a very young age and were instilled with a sense of pride that fed into their sense of superiority. The Tonetor's culture produced many jingoistic pieces of art and literature. Popular artwork included sculptures of victories and their military leaders in very dominant poses, These artworks were meticulously hand crafted over many years and reflected the dedication and skill as well as the patriotism of their artist. Their literary works were much of the same and were written in a style that reflected their style of speech.

Their words were recorded in stone tablets and stored in a massive library.

==Government==

The Tonetor were ruled by a military general and his consuls who formed a part of the leadership structure. This form of government was adopted as a result of the clan's requirements during their early stages when they were constantly involved in wars. The clan required a strong military leadership that could dictate the clan's plans and strategies and defeat his opponents in battle. There was no requirement for the leader to be concerned with civil problems due to the clan's nomadic nature. Additionally, every member of the clan served as a soldier during war time.

And were more accustomed to military leadership and authority than a civil one. A Tonetor kin'toni General had to rise through the ranks on his own merit to become the leader of the clan. He had to prove his worth in battle, shed his blood for the clan and demonstrate an ability to make plans as well as coordinate large scale activities. This method of selection led to very competant leaders who were already experienced with military tactics and could ensure the success of the clan in battle. There was no room for corruption or favoritism to creep into the system.

The Tonetor were organized like an army that could be mobilized at an instant. This was vital for the range of threats the clan had to deal with on a constant basis. Members maintained their own weapons and armor that were most likely scavenged off dead enemies since the Tonetor were not familiar with metal work. A system of ranks existed in the army that also applied to their civil life. Thus a superior could still pass an order to a junior in civil life. The military-like method of organization also meant that the people were subject to very strict discipline and harsh punishments.

Mistakes were punished in a public manner to the entire group to teach the principle of collective responsibility. The most common ones included public lashings and whipping. Some crimes in the Tonetor clan were also punishable by public executions. These crimes included murder within the clan or cowardice and hesitation in the battlefield. The whole ethos of the government was to drive the people towards a higher plane of existence. This is while weeding out the weaklings who could compromise this goal. Their laws were heavily influenced by the military and centered on discipline and obedience of orders.

People were expected to abide by these codes even when they were outside of a war or the army. Public order was maintained by a dedicated section of the army who served as a police authority during peace. They were responsible for enforcing laws. As well as arresting and meting out punishments to lawbreakers. They were quite unpopular within the Tonetor clan and arguments would frequently break out when a law had to be enforced or an arrest had to be made. The government was aware of the stresses associated with battles and wars and thus created enough avenues for the citizens to enjoy themselves.

These included the theatres where they held debates and speeches, as well as communal gatherings and festivals where they consumed large portions of intoxicants and drank their troubles away.

==Military==

The Tonetor kin'toni Clan were not alien to warfare and conflicts. The were a naturally aggressive clan who had an innate desire to dominate and conquer. This mentality set them on the path to war with many other clans in Taerel. They developed their military over years of constant warfare and were adept in the use of large scale strategies and battlefield tactics. The organization of their clan was also based around their military needs. The clan was fairly easy to mobilize and were led by Generals who came up through the ranks of their military.

They were responsible for leading the clan into battle and forming battle plans with the help of their consuls. The clan had a ranked military system where everyone was assigned a rank and could achieve promotion through examplary displays of skill and courage on the field. Similarly, their actions could also earn them demotions if they were against the laws or disturbed the organization within the clan. The General's consuls where composed of the top ranking members within their hierarchy who had distinguished themselves in some capacity and shown an aptitude for tactics and warfare.

The military employed a very harsh system of discipline and punishments that were necessary to control the Tonetor's natural argumentative and questioning nature. Punishments were also meted out to a collective group rather than individuals to reinforce the feeling of community and group. Military service was compulsary and there were no exceptions made for any member of the clan. Members who were found guilty of negligence or cowardice during war were instantly executed to prevent them from compromising the functioning of the clan any further.

The Tonetor were expected to maintain their own weapons and armor. These were considered their private possessions and the people took great care to personalize and embellish each items with markings of their achievements and victories. Their weapons differed from with individual and there was no uniformity in their fighting styles. Each person was held responsible for their own training and mastering whichever weapon he chose to wield. The Tonetor armies were battle hardened warriors who could fight in a variety of styles using either their body or weapons that they had pillaged from their dead enemies.

They fought in deep ranks frorming lines which then advanced towards their enemies at a running pace. The speed from their coordinated effort was enough to break through and rout any unprepared army. They achieved success against many zu'aan armies in this way. The only observable flaw within the Tonetor kin'toni Clan was the incredible amount of time they spent on debates and arguments even within the army. This affected their decisiveness as their leader's argued out the finer points in their attempt to come up with a final plan, sometimes leading to crucial moments slipping away.

This same weakness could be an advantage if they were afforded enough time to come up with their detailed plans. The meticulous nature of these plans meant that all approaches were thoroughly covered and accounted for, making the Tonetor very hard to surprise.

==Religion==

The Tonetor kin'toni Clan followed a consevative religious philosophy that reinforced their belief in their own superiority. They considered themselves the worshippers of the true God and everyone else as heathens who had to be shown the true path. This fed into their obsession with defeating and dominating other cultures so they could impose their own. The Tonetor named their religion Muzack. It was based on the God Muzack who was the creator of the universe and all that inhabited it.

They believed that they were created by Muzack to spread their religion among the heathens of the world. This was the argument that they used to justify many of their conquest and suppression of other clans. Their God herself was portrayed as a mother in their scluptures and paintings. She was supposed to be a maternal figure that looked after all those who believed in her. She awaited the return of all the people who had lost their ways and had chosen the Tonetor to be her representative in Taerel. The religion was very strict with respects to interactions with other races.

It preached that the Tonetor should not intermingle with the other races who were still corrupted by their beliefs. The only way they could interact closely with other clans was when they had been subjugated and forced to accept the Muzack religion as their way of life. The clan had an order of warrior priests whose responsibility it was to maintain the people's faith in the religion and ensure that they did not stray from the path. These priests were also part of their military and did not have any special privileges due to their position.

They led the worship services at home and in the battlefield and would then join the army in fighting. Their motivation was necessary to keep the men motivated and to prevent them from breaking when the battle did not turn in their favor. The Tonetor regularly held feasts and celebrations in honor of their God, especially after a victory or when a new clan had been converted into their religion. These celebrations could last for weeks and were a chance for the people to get away from the stress of everyday life. There were very little rituals or compicated performances associated with their religion.

It was a simple-to-follow religion that demanded nothing apart from personal worship and loyalty to Muzack. The clan's generally free ranging debates which covered all kinds of topics from war, food to civil affair was barred from encroaching into religion. There were no discussions to be had in this rgard and each individiual was to accept the truth as it was. People who questioned the faith were put into the same bracket as non-believers and heathens, and would eventually be expelled or executed. They were historically successful in turning many weaker kin'toni groups to their faith.

The weaker clans mostly did it as a diplomatic tactic to ensure their own survival and would change back to their own cultures once the Tonetor departed for their home in the Zalrie Fungal Forest.
